Israel is
swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
Israel is
swallowed up! Now they are among the
nations like a worthless vessel.
Yea, though they have
hired among the
nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
Though they
hire allies among the
nations, I will now round them up, and they will begin to diminish under the oppression of the king of princes.
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a
whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every
cornfloor.
My God will cast them away, because they did not
hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the
nations.
My God will
reject them because they have not obeyed Him; and they shall be wanderers among the
nations.
It is in my desire that I should
chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
For a
nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the
cheek teeth of a great lion.
For a
nation has invaded My land, powerful and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its fangs are the fangs of a
lioness.
Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
Nations writhe in
horror before them; every face turns pale.
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the
nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied
therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
And the LORD answered His people: “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and by them you will be satisfied. I will never again make you a reproach among the nations.
I will also gather all
nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will
plead with them there for my people and for my
heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the
nations, and parted my land.
I will gather all the
nations and bring them down to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the
nations as they divided up My land.
And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the
Sabeans—to a distant
nation.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war,
wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
Proclaim this among the
nations: “Prepare for war;
rouse the mighty men; let all the men of war advance and attack!
Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather
yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
Come quickly, all you surrounding
nations, and gather
yourselves. Bring down Your mighty ones, O LORD.
Let the heathen be
wakened, and come up to the valley of
Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
Let the
nations be
roused and advance to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit down to judge all the
nations on every side.
Woe to them that are at ease in
Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the
nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
Woe to those at ease in
Zion and those secure on Mount Samaria, the distinguished ones of the foremost
nation, to whom the house of Israel comes.
But, behold, I will raise up against you a
nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall
afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
For behold, I will raise up a
nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD, the God of Hosts, “and they will
oppress you from Lebo-
hamath to the
Brook of the Arabah.”
For, lo, I will command, and I will
sift the house of Israel among all
nations, like as corn is
sifted in a
sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
“For surely I will give the command, and I will
shake the house of Israel among all the
nations as grain is
sifted in a
sieve; but not a
pebble will reach the ground.
That they may possess the
remnant of
Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.
that they may possess the
remnant of
Edom and all the
nations that bear My name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.
The vision of
Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning
Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
This is the vision of
Obadiah: This is what the Lord GOD says about
Edom— We have heard a message from the LORD; an
envoy has been sent among the
nations to say, “Rise up, and let us go to battle against her!”—
Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly
despised.
“Behold, I will make you small among the
nations; you will be deeply
despised.
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
For the Day of the LORD is near for all the
nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your
recompense will return upon your own head.
For as ye have
drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually,
yea, they shall drink, and they shall
swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
For as you
drank on My holy mountain, so all the
nations will drink continually. They will drink and
gulp it down; they will be as if they had never existed.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I
devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go
haughtily: for this time is evil.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: “I am
planning against this
nation a
disaster from which you cannot free your necks. Then you will not walk so proudly, for it will be a time of
calamity.
And many
nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of
Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And many
nations will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from
Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And he shall judge among many people, and
rebuke strong
nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks:
nation shall not lift up a sword against
nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Then He will judge between many peoples and
arbitrate for strong
nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks.
Nation will no longer take up the sword against
nation, nor will they train anymore for war.
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong
nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong
nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
Now also many
nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be
defiled, and let our eye look upon
Zion.
But now many
nations have assembled against you, saying, “Let her be
defiled, and let us feast our eyes on
Zion.”
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be among the
nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes through, with no one to
rescue them.
I will take
vengeance in anger and wrath upon the
nations that have not obeyed Me.”
For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of
Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a
desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an
hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
You have kept the statutes of Omri and all the practices of
Ahab’s house; you have followed their counsel. Therefore I will make you a
desolation, and your inhabitants an object of contempt; you will bear the
scorn of the
nations.”
The
nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be
deaf.
Nations will see and be
ashamed, deprived of all their might. They will put their hands over their mouths, and their ears will become
deaf.
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured
harlot, the
mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth
nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will
shew the
nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show your nakedness to the nations and your shame to the kingdoms.
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
“Look at the
nations and observe— be utterly
astounded! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe even if someone told you.
For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and
hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans— that
ruthless and
impetuous nation which marches through the breadth of the earth to seize dwellings not their own.
Shall they therefore empty their net, and not
spare continually to
slay the
nations?
Will he, therefore, empty his net and continue to
slay nations without mercy?
Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as
hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all
nations, and heapeth unto him all people:
and wealth indeed betrays him. He is an
arrogant man never at rest. He enlarges his
appetite like
Sheol, and like Death, he is never satisfied. He gathers all the
nations to himself and collects all the peoples as his own.
Because thou hast
spoiled many
nations, all the
remnant of the people shall
spoil thee; because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
Because you have
plundered many
nations, the
remnant of the people will
plunder you— because of your
bloodshed against man and your violence against the land, the city, and all their dwellers.
Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall
weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not indeed from the LORD of Hosts that the labor of the people only feeds the fire, and the
nations weary themselves in vain?
He stood, and measured the earth: he
beheld, and drove
asunder the
nations; and the
everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are
everlasting.
You marched across the earth with
fury; You
threshed the
nations in wrath.
Gather
yourselves together,
yea, gather together, O
nation not desired;
Gather
yourselves, gather together, O shameful
nation,
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the
nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O
Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Woe to the dwellers of the
seacoast, O
nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O
Canaan, land of the Philistines: “I will destroy you, and no one will be left.”
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My
nation will dispossess them.”
The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will
famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
The LORD will be
terrifying to them when He starves all the gods of the earth. Then the
nations of every shore will bow in worship to Him, each in its own place.
And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the
nations: both the
cormorant and the
bittern shall
lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows;
desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the
cedar work.
I have cut off the
nations: their towers are
desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the
nations, that I may
assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine
indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be
devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Therefore wait for Me,” declares the LORD, “until the day I rise to
testify. For My decision is to gather
nations, to
assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them My
indignation— all My burning anger. For all the earth will be consumed by the fire of My jealousy.
And I will
shake all
nations, and the desire of all
nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will
shake all the
nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
Then answered
Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this
nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
Then
Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this
nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is
defiled.
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the
chariots, and those that
ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the
nations. I will overturn
chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
And I am very
sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the
affliction.
but I am fiercely
angry with the
nations that are at ease. For I was a little
angry, but they have added to the
calamity.’
Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to
fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to
scatter it.
“What are these coming to do?” I asked. And He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head; but the
craftsmen have come to
terrify them and throw down these horns of the
nations that have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to
scatter it.”
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the
nations which
spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the
nations that have
plundered you—for
whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—
And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
“On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the
nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was
desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land
desolate.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the
nations that they had not known, and the land was left
desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a
desolation.”
And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a
curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
As you have been a
curse among the
nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your hands be strong.”
Yea, many people and strong
nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
And many peoples and strong
nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to
plead before the LORD.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the
nations, even shall take hold of the
skirt of him that is a
Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the
nations of every tongue will
tightly grasp the
robe of a
Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
And I will cut off the
chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.
And I will cut off the
chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of war will be broken. Then He will
proclaim peace to the
nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
And I will
sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.
Though I
sow them among the
nations, they will remember Me in distant lands; they and their children will live and return.
And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it
asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
Next I took my staff called Favor and cut it in two,
revoking the covenant I had made with all the
nations.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a
burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
On that day, when all the
nations of the earth gather against her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who would
heave it away will be severely injured.
In that day, saith the LORD, I will
smite every horse with
astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will
smite every horse of the people with blindness.
On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with
panic, and every rider with madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah, but I will strike with blindness all the horses of the
nations.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
So on that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
And the land shall
mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of
Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
The land will
mourn, each clan on its own: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of
Nathan and their wives,
For I will gather all
nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women
ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
For I will gather all the
nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the city will be captured, the houses
looted, and the women
ravished. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.
And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and
apparel, in great abundance.
Judah will also fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding
nations will be collected—gold, silver, and
apparel in great abundance.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Then all the survivors from the
nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague,
wherewith the LORD will
smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter in, then the rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the
nations who do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all the
nations that do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
For My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be presented in My name, because My name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Hosts.
But
cursed be the
deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is
dreadful among the heathen.
“But
cursed is the
deceiver who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but sacrifices a defective animal to the Lord. For I am a great King,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and My name is to be feared among the
nations.
And all
nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a
delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then all the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall
shew judgment to the Gentiles.
“Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will
proclaim justice to the
nations.
And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
In His name the nations will put their hope.”
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
For
nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in
divers places.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Then shall they deliver you up to be
afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be
hated of all
nations for my name’s sake.
Then they will deliver you over to be
persecuted and killed, and you will be
hated by all
nations because of My name.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
And before him shall be gathered all
nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a
shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
All the
nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another, as a
shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by
nation; and she
besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
Now she was a Greek woman of Syrophoenician origin, and she kept asking Jesus to drive the
demon out of her daughter.
And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all
nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of
thieves.
Then Jesus began to teach them, and He declared, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
For
nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in
divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all the nations.
Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of
Nathan, which was the son of David,
the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of
Nathan, the son of David,
For he loveth our
nation, and he hath built us a
synagogue.
for he loves our
nation and has built our
synagogue.”
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
For the Gentiles of the world
strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Then He told them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away
captive into all
nations: and Jerusalem shall be
trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led
captive into all the
nations. And Jerusalem will be
trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of
nations, with
perplexity; the sea and the waves
roaring;
There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the
nations,
bewildered by the
roaring of the sea and the
surging of the waves.
And they began to
accuse him, saying, We found this fellow
perverting the
nation, and
forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
And that
repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
and in His name
repentance and
forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all
nations, beginning in Jerusalem.
Philip findeth
Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Philip found
Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets
foretold—Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
And
Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of
Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
“Can anything good come from
Nazareth?”
Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.
Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou
wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
“How do You know me?”
Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
