order to
confirm His covenant that He

reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art
athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

Naomi, thou must
buy it also of
Ruth the

buy the land from

slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not
shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
Then the king
ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was
fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.

gird you with
sackcloth, and
mourn before
Abner. And king David himself followed the

courageous and be
valiant.

Absalom had
ordered his young men, “Watch Amnon until his heart is
merry with wine, and when I
order you to strike Amnon down, you are to kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be
courageous and
valiant!”

ordered. Then all the other sons of the king got up, and each one fled on his

Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant
Joab, he
bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine
handmaid:
So the king asked, “Is the hand of
Joab behind all this?” The woman answered, “As surely as you live, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right or to the left from anything that my lord the king says.
Yes, your servant
Joab is the one who gave me
orders; he told your
maidservant exactly what to say.
And
Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of
Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of
Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon
Absalom.
And when
Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he
saddled his
ass, and arose, and
gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in
order, and
hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the
sepulchre of his father.
When
Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he
saddled his
donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his affairs in
order and
hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.

Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an
everlasting covenant,
ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
Is not my house right with God? For He has established with me an
everlasting covenant,
ordered and secured in every part. Will He not bring about my full salvation and my every desire?
And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.

Now therefore command thou that they
hew me
cedar trees out of
Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give
hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt
appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to
hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
Now therefore,
order that cedars of
Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in
logging as the Sidonians.”
And it shall be, if thou
wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and
wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
If you
listen to all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight in
order to keep My statutes and commandments as My servant David did, then I will be with you. I will build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.

Baal! Do not let a single one escape.” So they seized them, and
Elijah brought them down to the
Kishon Valley and slaughtered them there.
And
Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall
order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

Ahab. “You will,” answered the prophet.

anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
And there came a
messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.
When the
messenger arrived, he told
Jehu, “They have brought the heads of the sons of the king.” And
Jehu ordered, “Pile them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”
And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and
slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.
Then
Jehu ordered, “Take them alive.” So his men took them alive, then slaughtered them at the well of Beth-
eked—forty-two men. He
spared none of them.
Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to
Baal;
whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But
Jehu did it in
subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of
Baal.
Now, therefore,
summon to me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests. See that no one is missing, for I have a great sacrifice for
Baal.
Whoever is missing will not live.” But
Jehu was acting
deceptively in
order to destroy the servants of
Baal.
And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
So the commanders of hundreds did everything that Jehoiada the priest had ordered. Each of them took his men—those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty—and came to Jehoiada the priest.
But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

anyone who follows her.” For the priest had said, “She must not be put to death in the house of the LORD.”

It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper
order.”

sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave the
order to count the people? I am the one who has
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house, but do not let this plague remain upon Your people.”

So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
Then David ordered all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon:
And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
This was their appointed
order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their
forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
Of the sons of
Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of
Asaph under the hands of
Asaph, which
prophesied according to the
order of the king.
From the sons of
Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of
Asaph were under the direction of
Asaph, who
prophesied under the direction of the king.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s
order to
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman.
All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God.
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.
And he appointed, according to the
order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the
porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
In keeping with the ordinances of his father David, Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites for their duties to offer praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily requirement. He also appointed gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate, for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
So the king
hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of
Ahijah the Shilonite to
Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
So the king did not
listen to the people, and indeed this turn of events was from God, in
order that the LORD might
fulfill the word that He had spoken through
Ahijah the Shilonite to
Jeroboam son of Nebat.
