Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto
Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast
read in the ears of the people, and come. So
Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
Then all the officials sent word to
Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, saying, “Bring the
scroll that you
read in the hearing of the people, and come here.” So
Baruch son of Neriah took the
scroll and went to them.
And they said unto him, Sit down now, and
read it in our ears. So
Baruch read it in their ears.
“Please sit down,” they said, “and
read it in our hearing.” So
Baruch read it in their hearing.
So the king sent Jehudi to
fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the
scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi
read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the
scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the
scribe. And Jehudi
read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing beside him.
And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had
read three or four leaves, he cut it with the
penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the
hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the
hearth.
And as soon as Jehudi had
read three or four columns,
Jehoiakim would cut them off with a
scribe’s knife and throw them into the
firepot, until the entire
scroll had been consumed by the fire.
How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
How can you say, ‘We are warriors, mighty men ready for battle’?
And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;
And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you get to Babylon, see that you
read all these words
aloud,
And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:
When you finish
reading this
scroll,
tie a stone to it and cast it into the Euphrates.
They have
blown the
trumpet, even to make all
ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
They have
blown the
trumpet and made everything
ready, but no one goes to war, for My wrath is upon the whole multitude.
I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may
faint, and their ruins be multiplied:
ah! it is made bright, it is
wrapped up for the slaughter.
So that their hearts may
melt and many may
stumble, I have appointed at all their gates a sword for slaughter.
Yes, it is
ready to
flash like
lightning; it is drawn for slaughter.
Be thou prepared, and prepare for
thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
Get
ready; prepare
yourself, you and all your company gathered around you; you will be their guard.
Now if ye be
ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are
ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall
read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
So all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not
read the inscription or
interpret it for him.
And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should
read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not
shew the interpretation of the thing:
Now the wise men and enchanters were brought before me to
read this inscription and
interpret it for me, but they could not give its interpretation.
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst
read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can
read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to
thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will
read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
In
response, Daniel said to the king, “You may keep your gifts for
yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will
read the inscription for the king and
interpret it for him.
For they have made
ready their heart like an
oven, whiles they lie in wait: their
baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
For they prepare their heart like an
oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Then the LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly
inscribe it on tablets, so that a
herald may run with it.
With his own
spear You pierced his head, when his warriors stormed out to
scatter us,
gloating as though
ready to secretly
devour the weak.
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of
Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
“To build a house for it in the land of
Shinar,” he told me. “And when it is
ready, the
basket will be set there on its
pedestal.”
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies
ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

read what David did, when he was an
hungred, and they that were with him;
Jesus replied, “Have you not
read what David did when he and his companions were
hungry?
Or have ye not
read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple
profane the sabbath, and are
blameless?
Or
haven’t you
read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent?
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
Jesus answered, “Have you not

Creator ‘made them male and female,’
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them,
Yea; have ye never
read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
“Do You hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “
Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never
read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’?”
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Jesus said to them, “Have you never
read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is
marvelous in our eyes’?
Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are
bidden, Behold, I have prepared my
dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are
ready: come unto the marriage.
Again, he sent other servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my
dinner. My oxen and
fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is
ready. Come to the
wedding banquet.’
Then saith he to his servants, The
wedding is
ready, but they which were
bidden were not worthy.
Then he said to his servants, ‘The
wedding banquet is
ready, but those I invited were not worthy.
But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what God said to you:
When ye therefore shall see the
abomination of
desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (
whoso readeth, let him understand:)
So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the
abomination of
desolation,’ described by the prophet Daniel (let the
reader understand),
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
And while they went to
buy, the
bridegroom came; and they that were
ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
But while they were on their way to
buy it, the
bridegroom arrived. Those who were
ready went in with him to the
wedding banquet, and the door was shut.
And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made
ready the
passover.
So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the
Passover.
And he said unto them, Have ye never
read what David did, when he had need, and was an
hungred, he, and they that were with him?
Jesus replied, “Have you never
read what David did when he and his companions were
hungry and in need?
And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should
throng him.
Jesus asked His disciples to have a boat
ready for Him so that the crowd would not
crush Him.
And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Have you never read this Scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not
read in the book of Moses, how in the
bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
But concerning the dead rising, have you not
read about the burning
bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
But when ye shall see the
abomination of
desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that
readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea
flee to the mountains:
So when you see the
abomination of
desolation standing where it should not be (let the
reader understand), then let those who are in
Judea flee to the mountains.
And he will
shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make
ready for us.
And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made
ready the
passover.
So the disciples left and went into the city, where they found everything as Jesus had described. And they prepared the
Passover.
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into
temptation. The spirit truly is
ready, but the flesh is weak.
Watch and pray so that you will not enter into
temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
And the charge inscribed against Him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make
ready a people prepared for the Lord.
And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of
Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make
ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with
haste, into a city of Juda;
In those days Mary got
ready and
hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah,
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies
ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
And he came to
Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the
synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to
read.
Then Jesus came to
Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the
synagogue on the Sabbath. And when He stood up to
read,
And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not
read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an
hungred, and they which were with him;
Jesus replied, “Have you not
read what David did when he and his companions were
hungry?
And a certain
centurion’s servant, who was
dear unto him, was sick, and
ready to die.
There a highly valued servant of a
centurion was sick and about to die.
And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the
Samaritans, to make
ready for him.
He sent messengers on
ahead, who went into a village of the
Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.
He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
“What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied. “How do you read it?”
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.”
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.
And sent his servant at
supper time to say to them that were
bidden, Come; for all things are now
ready.
When it was time for the
banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now
ready.’
And will not rather say unto him, Make
ready wherewith I may
sup, and
gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and
drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my meal and dress
yourself to serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’?
And he shall
shew you a large upper room furnished: there make
ready.
And he will show you a large upper room, already furnished. Make preparations there.”

ready the
passover.
So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them. And they prepared the
Passover.

alway ready.

And
Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF
NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Pilate also had a notice posted on the cross. It
read: JESUS OF
NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
This title then
read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was
crucified was
nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
Many of the Jews
read this sign, because the place where Jesus was
crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
Was returning, and sitting in his
chariot read Esaias the prophet.
and on his return was sitting in his
chariot reading Isaiah the prophet.
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
So Philip ran up and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
The place of the scripture which he
read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb
dumb before his
shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
The
eunuch was
reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the
shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
And he became very
hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made
ready, he fell into a
trance,
He became
hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a
trance.
Then called he them in, and
lodged them. And on the
morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from
Joppa accompanied him.
So Peter invited them in as his guests. And the next day he got
ready and went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from
Joppa.
And after the
reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the
synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of
exhortation for the people, say on.
After the
reading from the Law and the Prophets, the
synagogue leaders sent word to them: “Brothers, if you have a word of encouragement for the people, please speak.”
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are
read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in
condemning him.
The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in
condemning Him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are
read every Sabbath.
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that
preach him, being
read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
For Moses has been proclaimed in every city from ancient times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”
And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into
Macedonia,
assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to
preach the gospel unto them.
As soon as Paul had seen the vision, we got
ready to leave for
Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to
preach the gospel to them.
These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all
readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the
Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them,
ready to depart on the
morrow; and continued his speech until
midnight.
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Since Paul was
ready to leave the next day, he talked to them and kept on speaking until
midnight.
Then Paul answered, What mean ye to
weep and to break mine heart? for I am
ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then Paul answered, “Why are you
weeping and breaking my heart? I am
ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Now therefore ye with the council
signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are
ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are
ready to kill him on the way.”
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
Do not let them
persuade you, because more than forty men are waiting to
ambush him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him; they are
ready now,
awaiting your consent.”
And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make
ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and
horsemen threescore and ten, and
spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
Then he called two of his centurions and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy
horsemen, and two hundred
spearmen to go to Caesarea in the third hour of the night.
And when the governor had
read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of
Cilicia;
The governor
read the letter and asked what province Paul was from. Learning that he was from
Cilicia,
And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
They took
soundings and found that the water was twenty fathoms deep. Going a little farther, they took another set of
soundings that
read fifteen fathoms.
Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they
laded us with such things as were necessary.
The islanders honored us in many ways and supplied our needs when we were ready to sail.
So, as much as in me is, I am
ready to
preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
That is why I am so eager to
preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
For if thou
wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and
wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
For if you were cut from a wild olive tree, and contrary to nature were
grafted into one that is cultivated, how much more
readily will these, the natural branches, be
grafted into their own olive tree!
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready,
For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
For we do not write you anything that is beyond your ability to read and understand. And I hope that you will understand us completely,
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same
vail untaken away in the
reading of the old testament; which
vail is done away in Christ.
But their minds were closed. For to this day the same
veil remains at the
reading of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed.
But even unto this day, when Moses is
read, the
vail is upon their heart.
And even to this day when Moses is
read, a
veil covers their hearts.
Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a
readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
Now finish the work, so that you may complete it just as eagerly as you began, according to your means.
And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
More than that, this brother was chosen by the churches to
accompany us with the offering—the
gracious gift we
administer to honor the Lord Himself and to show our eagerness to help.
For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I
boast of you to them of
Macedonia, that
Achaia was
ready a year ago; and your zeal hath
provoked very many.
For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been
boasting to the Macedonians that since last year you in
Achaia were prepared to give. And your zeal has
stirred most of them to do likewise.
Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our
boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be
ready:
But I am sending the brothers in order that our
boasting about you in this matter should not prove empty, but that you will be prepared, just as I said.
Therefore I thought it necessary to
exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up
beforehand your
bounty,
whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be
ready, as a matter of
bounty, and not as of
covetousness.
So I thought it necessary to
urge the brothers to visit you
beforehand and make arrangements for the
bountiful gift you had promised. This way, your gift will be prepared generously and not begrudgingly.
And having in a
readiness to
revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
And we will be
ready to
punish every act of disobedience, as soon as your obedience is complete.
To
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to
boast in another man’s line of things made
ready to our hand.
so that we can
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. Then we will not be
boasting in the work already done in another man’s territory.
Behold, the third time I am
ready to come to you; and I will not be
burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
See, I am ready to come to you a third time, and I will not be a burden, because I am not seeking your possessions, but you. For children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.
Whereby, when ye
read, ye may understand my knowledge in the
mystery of Christ)
In
reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the
mystery of Christ,
And your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
and with your feet fitted with the
readiness of the gospel of peace.
And when this epistle is
read among you, cause that it be
read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise
read the epistle from
Laodicea.
After this letter has been
read among you, make sure that it is also
read in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you in turn
read the letter from
Laodicea.
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
Till I come, give attendance to
reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and
ready to share,
