Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-
abib, that dwelt by the river of
Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and
remained there
astonished among them seven days.
I came to the exiles at Tel-
abib who dwelt by the River Kebar. And for seven days I sat where they sat and
remained there among them,
overwhelmed.
He that is far off shall die of the
pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that
remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I
accomplish my
fury upon them.
He who is far off will die by the plague, he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who
remains will die by famine. So I will
vent My
fury upon them.
Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall
remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be
wailing for them.
Their violence has grown into a rod to
punish their wickedness. None of them will
remain: none of their multitude, none of their wealth, and nothing of value.
For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any
strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.
The seller will surely not recover what he sold while both
remain alive. For the vision concerning the whole multitude will not be
revoked, and because of their iniquity, not one of them will preserve his life.
And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low
stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
It
sprouted and became a spreading vine, low in height, with branches turned toward him; yet its roots
remained where it stood. So it became a vine and yielded branches and sent out shoots.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
All his choice troops will fall by the sword, and those who
survive will be scattered to every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken.’
And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath
devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a
sceptre to rule. This is a
lamentation, and shall be for a
lamentation.
Fire has gone out from its main branch and
devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch
remains fit for a ruler’s
scepter.’ This is a
lament and shall be used as a
lament.”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the
diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same:
exalt him that is low, and
abase him that is high.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Remove the
turban, and take off the crown. Things will not
remain as they are:
Exalt the lowly and bring low the
exalted.
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your
shoes upon your feet: ye shall not
mourn nor
weep; but ye shall pine away for your
iniquities, and
mourn one toward another.
Your turbans will
remain on your heads and your
sandals on your feet. You will not
mourn or
weep, but you will waste away because of your sins, and you will
groan among
yourselves.
Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
All the birds of the air nested on its fallen trunk, and all the beasts of the field lived among its boughs.
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
I will
abandon you on the land and
hurl you into the open field. I will cause all the birds of the air to settle upon you, and all the beasts of the earth to eat their fill of you.
And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
I will put your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains.
Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was
desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
Then the nations around you that
remain will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed, and I have replanted what was
desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.
And they shall
sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to
bury with the passengers those that
remain upon the face of the earth, to
cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
And men will be employed to continually pass through the land to
cleanse it by
burying the invaders who
remain on the ground. At the end of the seven months they will begin their search.
Then said the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut.
And the LORD said to me, “This gate is to remain shut. It shall not be opened, and no man shall enter through it, because the LORD, the God of Israel, has entered through it. Therefore it will remain shut.
And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a
profane place for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use by the city, for houses, and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it
And the residue in length over against the
oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the
oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The
remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
And at Daniel’s request, the king appointed
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego to
manage the province of Babylon, while Daniel
remained in the king’s court.
Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there
remained no strength in me: for my
comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
So I was left alone,
gazing at this great vision. No strength
remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia
withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I
remained there with the kings of Persia.
However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me,
straightway there
remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
How can I, your servant, speak with you, my lord? Now I have no strength, nor is any breath left in me.”
They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.
They will not remain in the land of the LORD; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.
O Israel, thou hast
sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
Since the days of Gibeah you have
sinned, O Israel, and there you have
remained. Did not the battle in Gibeah overtake the sons of iniquity?
And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
And if there are ten men left in one house, they too will die.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the
crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did
remain in the day of distress.
Nor should you stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, nor deliver up their survivors in the day of their distress.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of
Esau for
stubble, and they shall
kindle in them, and
devour them; and there shall not be any
remaining of the house of
Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
Then the house of Jacob will be a
blazing fire, and the house of Joseph a burning flame; but the house of
Esau will be
stubble— Jacob will set it
ablaze and
consume it. Therefore no
survivor will
remain from the house of
Esau.” For the LORD has spoken.
Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
You will eat but not be satisfied, and your hunger will remain with you. What you acquire, you will not preserve; and what you save, I will give to the sword.
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the
remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall
remain in the midst of his house, and shall
consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
I will send it out, declares the LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the
thief and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will
remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and stones.”
And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that
remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and
Ekron as a Jebusite.
I will remove the blood from their mouths and the abominations from between their teeth. Then they too will become a
remnant for our God; they will become like a clan in Judah, and
Ekron will be like the Jebusites.
Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
Then I said, “I will no longer
shepherd you. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish; and let those who
remain devour one another’s flesh.”
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an
hearth of fire among the wood, and like a
torch of fire in a
sheaf; and they shall
devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a
firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming
torch among the
sheaves; they will
consume all the peoples around them on the right and on the left, while the people of Jerusalem
remain secure there.
All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
and all the remaining clans and their wives.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not
remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him through.
All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses.
All the land from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem will be turned into a plain, but Jerusalem will be raised up and will
remain in her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.
And thou,
Capernaum, which art
exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to
hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in
Sodom, it would have
remained until this day.
And you,
Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in
Sodom, it would have
remained to this day.
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and
perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him
hither to me.
“O unbelieving and
perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I
remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to Me.”
But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I
adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to Him, “I charge You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
And have no root in themselves, and so
endure but for a time: afterward, when
affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are
offended.
But they themselves have no root, and they remain for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
“O unbelieving generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.”
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
But Jesus remained silent and made no reply. Again the high priest questioned Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he
beckoned unto them, and
remained speechless.
When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained speechless.
And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and
hid herself five months, saying,
After these days, his wife Elizabeth became
pregnant and for five months
remained in
seclusion. She declared,
And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus
tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
When those days were over and they were returning home, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but His parents were unaware He had stayed.
And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
And Jesus answering said, O faithless and
perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son
hither.
“O unbelieving and
perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I
remain with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”
And in the same house
remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his
hire. Go not from house to house.
Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
And they held their peace. And he took him, and
healed him, and let him go;
But they
remained silent. Then Jesus took hold of the man,
healed him, and sent him on his way.
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
“I tell you,” He answered, “if they remain silent, the very stones will cry out.”
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but
tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be
endued with power from on high.
And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But remain in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to
baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to
baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will
baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.
Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God
remains on him.”
When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
And when
everyone was full, He said to His disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over, so that nothing will be wasted.”
Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley
loaves, which
remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley
loaves left over by those who had eaten.
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one
whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
The next day, the crowd that had remained on the other side of the sea realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not boarded it with His disciples, but they had gone away alone.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood
remains in Me, and I in him.
When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in
Galilee.
Having said this, Jesus
remained in
Galilee.
Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
“If you were blind,” Jesus replied, “you would not be guilty of sin. But since you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a
kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it
remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
The crowd replied, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ will
remain forever. So how can You say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”
I am come a light into the world, that
whosoever believeth on me should not
abide in darkness.
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should remain in darkness.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it
abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye
abide in me.
Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
If a man
abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is
withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If
anyone does not
remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and
withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned.
If ye
abide in me, and my words
abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Remain in My love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall
abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and
abide in his love.
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should
remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
Then the soldiers, when they had
crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without
seam,
woven from the top throughout.
When the soldiers had
crucified Jesus, they divided His garments into four parts, one for each soldier, with the
tunic remaining. It was
seamless,
woven in one piece from top to bottom.
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not
remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,)
besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
It was the day of Preparation, and the next day was a High Sabbath. In order that the bodies would not
remain on the cross during the Sabbath, the Jews asked
Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed.
Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he
tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he
tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
Because of this, the
rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to
remain until I return, what is that to you?”
Whiles it
remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not
lied unto men, but unto God.
Did it not belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was it not at your
disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart? You have not
lied to men, but to God!”
Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God
drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
And our fathers who received it brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations God drove out before them. It remained until the time of David,
Paul also and
Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
But Paul and
Barnabas remained at Antioch, along with many others, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord.
And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but
Silas and
Timotheus abode there still.
The brothers immediately sent Paul to the coast, but
Silas and
Timothy remained in
Berea.
And Paul after this
tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him
Priscilla and
Aquila; having
shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a
vow.
Paul
remained in Corinth for quite some time before saying goodbye to the brothers. He had his head
shaved in Cenchrea to keep a
vow he had made, and then he sailed for Syria, accompanied by
Priscilla and
Aquila.
Paul said to the
centurion and to the soldiers, Except these
abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.
But Paul said to the
centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men
remain with the ship, you cannot be saved.”
And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship
aground; and the
forepart stuck fast, and
remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.
But the vessel struck a sandbar and ran
aground. The bow
stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was being broken up by the pounding of the waves.
I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they
abide even as I.
Now to the unmarried and widows I say this: It is good for them to remain unmarried, as I am.
But and if she depart, let her
remain unmarried, or be
reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
But if she does, she must
remain unmarried or else be
reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not
divorce his wife.
Let every man
abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
Each one should remain in the situation he was in when he was called.
Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein
abide with God.
Brothers, each one should remain in the situation he was in when God called him.
I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
Because of the present
crisis, I think it is good for a man to
remain as he is.
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;
But she is happier if she so
abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
In my judgment, however, she is happier if she remains as she is. And I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
For in eating every one taketh before other his own
supper: and one is
hungry, and another is
drunken.
For as you eat, each of you goes
ahead without sharing his meal. While one
remains hungry, another gets
drunk.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto
condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
If
anyone is
hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you come together it will not result in judgment. And when I come, I will give instructions about the
remaining matters.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.
But if there be no
interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
But if there is no
interpreter, he should
remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God.
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part
remain unto this present, but some are fallen
asleep.
After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen
asleep.
For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
For if what was
fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which endures!
But their minds were blinded: for until this day
remaineth the same
vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which
vail is done away in Christ.
But their minds were closed. For to this day the same
veil remains at the reading of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed.
(As it is written, He hath
dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness
remaineth for ever.
As it is written: “He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures
forever.”
