Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
As for me, I have not
hastened from being a
pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the
woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.
But I have not
run away from being Your
shepherd; I have not desired the day of
despair. You know that the
utterance of my lips was spoken in Your presence.
Will a man leave the snow of
Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be
forsaken?
Does the snow of
Lebanon ever leave its rocky slopes? Or do its cool waters flowing from a distance ever
run dry?
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they
prophesied.
I did not send these prophets, yet they have
run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have
prophesied.
Flee, save your lives, and be like the
heath in the wilderness.
‘
Flee!
Run for your lives! Become like a
juniper in the desert.’
Howl, O
Heshbon, for
Ai is
spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah,
gird you with
sackcloth;
lament, and
run to and
fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
Wail, O
Heshbon, for
Ai has been destroyed; cry out, O daughters of Rabbah! Put on
sackcloth and
mourn;
run back and forth within your walls, for Milcom will go into exile together with his priests and officials.
Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the
calamity of
Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
Turn and
run! Lie low, O dwellers of Dedan, for I will bring
disaster on
Esau at the time I
punish him.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the
habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him
run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may
appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will
appoint me the time? and who is that
shepherd that will stand before me?
Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture. For in an instant I will
chase Edom from her land. Who is the chosen one I will
appoint for this? For who is like Me, and who can
challenge Me? What
shepherd can stand against Me?”
Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
Run! Escape quickly! Lie low, O residents of Hazor,” declares the LORD, “for
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has drawn up a plan against you; he has devised a
strategy against you.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the
habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly
run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may
appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will
appoint me the time? and who is that
shepherd that will stand before me?
Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture. For in an instant I will
chase Babylon from her land. Who is the chosen one I will
appoint for this? For who is like Me, and who can
challenge Me? What
shepherd can stand against Me?”
One post shall
run to meet another, and one
messenger to meet another, to
shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will
plead thy cause, and take
vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will
plead your case and take
vengeance on your behalf; I will dry up her sea and make her springs
run dry.
For these things I
weep; mine eye, mine eye
runneth down with water, because the comforter that should
relieve my soul is far from me: my children are
desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
For these things I
weep; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to revive my soul. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.
Their heart
cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of
Zion, let tears
run down like a river day and night: give
thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.
The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. O wall of the Daughter of
Zion, let your tears
run down like a river day and night. Give
yourself no relief, and your eyes no rest.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Streams of tears flow from my eyes over the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou
mourn nor
weep, neither shall thy tears
run down.
“Son of man, behold, I am about to take away the desire of your eyes with a fatal blow. But you must not
mourn or
weep or let your tears flow.
The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
The waters made it grow; the deep springs made it tall, directing their streams all around its base and sending their channels to all the trees of the field.
Then will I make their waters deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord GOD.
Then I will let her waters settle and will make her rivers flow like oil,’ declares the Lord GOD.
And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the
oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city, before the
oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.
Now the prince will have the area bordering each side of the area formed by the holy district and the property of the city, extending westward from the western side and eastward from the eastern side,
running lengthwise from the western boundary to the eastern boundary and parallel to one of the
tribal portions.
And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of
Hamath. And this is the north side.
So the border will
run from the Sea to Hazar-enan, along the northern border of Damascus, with the territory of
Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.
And the east side ye shall measure from
Hauran, and from Damascus, and from
Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.
On the east side the border will
run between
Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between
Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Eastern Sea and as far as Tamar. This will be the eastern boundary.
And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of
strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
On the south side it will
run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, and along the
Brook of Egypt to the Great Sea. This will be the southern boundary.
Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to
Hamath, Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of
Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for
Dan.
“Now these are the names of the tribes: At the northern frontier,
Dan will have one portion bordering the road of Hethlon to Lebo-
hamath and
running on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus with
Hamath to the north, and extending from the east side to the west side.
And the residue in length over against the
oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the
oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.
And by the border of
Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of
strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.
The southern border of
Gad will
run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the
Brook of Egypt and out to the Great Sea.
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall
run to and
fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
But you, Daniel, shut up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will
roam to and
fro, and knowledge will increase.”
Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall
spoil the
treasure of all pleasant vessels.
Although he
flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come— a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will
run dry. The wind will
plunder his treasury of every precious article.
The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as
horsemen, so shall they
run.
Their appearance is like that of horses, and they
gallop like swift steeds.
They shall
run like mighty men; they shall
climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
They charge like mighty men; they scale the walls like men of war. Each one marches in formation, not
swerving from the course.
They shall
run to and
fro in the city; they shall
run upon the wall, they shall
climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a
thief.
They storm the city; they
run along the wall; they
climb into houses, entering through windows like
thieves.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of
Shittim.
And in that day the mountains will
drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the streams of Judah will
run with water, and a spring will flow from the house of the LORD to water the Valley of
Acacias.
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
But let justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
Shall horses
run upon the rock? will one
plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into
hemlock:
“Do horses
gallop on the cliffs? Does one
plow the sea with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into
wormwood—
And they shall
wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall
run to and
fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
People will
stagger from sea to sea and
roam from north to east, seeking the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers:
Bashan languisheth, and
Carmel, and the flower of
Lebanon languisheth.
He rebukes the sea and dries it up; He makes all the rivers
run dry.
Bashan and
Carmel wither, and the flower of
Lebanon wilts.
The
chariots shall
rage in the streets, they shall
justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall
run like the lightnings.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Then the LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly
inscribe it on tablets, so that a
herald may
run with it.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his own house.
And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
and said to him, “
Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and
livestock within it.
For who hath
despised the day of small things? for they shall
rejoice, and shall see the
plummet in the hand of
Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which
run to and
fro through the whole earth.
For who has
despised the day of small things? But these seven eyes of the LORD, which
scan the whole earth, will
rejoice when they see the
plumb line in the hand of
Zerubbabel.”
Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will
burst, the wine will
spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
And they departed quickly from the
sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did
run to bring his disciples word.
So they
hurried away from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were filled with
awe and ran to
greet Him.
When Jesus saw that the people came
running together, he
rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou
dumb and
deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
When Jesus saw that a crowd had come
running, He
rebuked the unclean spirit. “You
deaf and
mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.”
And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one
running, and
kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may
inherit eternal life?
As Jesus started on His way, a man ran up and
knelt before Him. “Good Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to
inherit eternal life?”
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and
shaken together, and
running over, shall men give into your
bosom. For with the same measure that ye
mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and
running over will be poured into your
lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
But he that is an
hireling, and not the
shepherd, whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The
hired hand is not the
shepherd, and the sheep are not his own. When he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and
runs away. Then the wolf pounces on them and scatters the flock.
The man
runs away because he is a
hired servant and is unconcerned for the sheep.
Then she
runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the
sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she said, “and we do not know where they have put Him!”
So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the
sepulchre.
The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
Passing to the
lee of a small island called Cauda, we barely managed to secure the
lifeboat.
Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands,
strake sail, and so were driven.
After
hoisting it up, the
crew used ropes to
undergird the ship. And fearing that they would
run aground on the sandbars of
Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and were driven along.
Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.
However, we must
run aground on some island.”
Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
Fearing that we would
run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for
daybreak.
And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain
creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.
When
daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they sighted a bay with a sandy
beach, where they decided to
run the ship
aground if they could.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
So then, it does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize.
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
Therefore I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight like I am beating the air.
And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I
preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should
run, or had
run, in vain.
I went in
response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I
preach among the Gentiles. But I spoke privately to those recognized as leaders, for fear that I was
running or had already
run in vain.
Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
You were
running so well. Who has
obstructed you from obeying the truth?
Holding forth the word of life; that I may
rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not
run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
as you hold forth the word of life, in order that I may
boast on the day of Christ that I did not
run or labor in vain.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which
doth so easily
beset us, and let us
run with
patience the race that is set before us,
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every
encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us
run with
endurance the race set out for us.
Wherein they think it strange that ye
run not with them to the same excess of
riot, speaking evil of you:
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Anyone who
runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God.
Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son.
And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of
chariots of many horses
running to battle.
They also had thoraxes like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the
roar of many horses and
chariots rushing into battle.
Yea, many there be that have
run out of their wits for women, and become servants for their sakes.
Embrace thy children until I come and
shew mercy unto them: for my wells
run over, and my grace shall not fail.
At that time shall friends fight one against another like enemies, and the earth shall stand in fear with those that dwell therein, the springs of the fountains shall stand still, and in three hours they shall not run.
Then they shall take their armour, and shall go into their camp, and raise up the captains of the army of Assur, and shall
run to the tent of Holofernes, but shall not find him: then fear shall fall upon them, and they shall
flee before your face.
For instead of a perpetual running river troubled with foul blood,
For the hope of the
unthankful shall
melt away as the winter’s
hoar frost, and shall
run away as unprofitable water.
Whether it were a
whistling wind, or a
melodious noise of birds among the spreading branches, or a pleasing fall of water
running violently,
Or a terrible sound of stones cast down, or a
running that could not be seen of
skipping beasts, or a
roaring voice of most savage wild beasts, or a rebounding
echo from the hollow mountains; these things made them to
swoon for fear.
If thou have a servant,
entreat him as a brother: for thou hast need of him, as of thine own soul: if thou
entreat him evil, and he
run from thee, which way
wilt thou go to seek him?
Do not the tears run down the widow’s cheeks? and is not her cry against him that causeth them to fall?
Great is the Lord that made it; and at his commandment
runneth hastily.
Now one had
run afore to Gazera and told John that his father and brethren were slain, and,
quoth he, Ptolemee hath sent to
slay thee also.
And then it happened, that through all the city, for the space almost of forty days, there were seen
horsemen running in the air, in cloth of gold, and armed with lances, like a band of soldiers,
And so he
slew all them that were gone to the
celebrating of the sabbath, and
running through the city with weapons
slew great multitudes.
And others, that had run together into caves near by, to keep the sabbath day secretly, being discovered by Philip, were all burnt together, because they made a conscience to help themselves for the honour of the most sacred day.
For he had entered the city called
Persepolis, and went about to
rob the temple, and to hold the city;
whereupon the multitude
running to defend themselves with their weapons put them to flight; and so it happened, that
Antiochus being put to flight of the inhabitants returned with shame.
And took the city by the will of God, and made unspeakable slaughters,
insomuch that a lake two furlongs broad near adjoining
thereunto, being filled full, was seen
running with blood.
But when
Judas his first band came in sight, the enemies, being
smitten with fear and terror through the appearing of him who
seeth all things, fled
amain, one
running into this way, another that way, so as that they were often
hurt of their own men, and wounded with the points of their own swords.
