Go, and say to
Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have
seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
“Go and tell
Hezekiah that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have
seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.
I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
I said, “I will never again see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living; I will no longer look on mankind with those who dwell in this world.
Then said he, What have they
seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they
seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they
seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have
seen everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all humanity together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
The islands
see and fear; the ends of the earth
tremble. They approach and come forward.
But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
“But you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen,
descendant of Abraham My friend—
Thou shalt
seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that
contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of
nought.
You will
seek them but will not find them. Those who
wage war against you will come to nothing.
When the poor and
needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for
thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not
forsake them.
The poor and
needy seek water, but there is none; their tongues are
parched with
thirst. I, the LORD, will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not
forsake them.
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
so that all may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this and the Holy One of Israel has created it.”
Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their
molten images are wind and confusion.
See, they are all a
delusion; their works amount to nothing; their images are as empty as the wind.
Hear, ye
deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may
see.
Listen, you
deaf ones; look, you blind ones, that you may
see!
Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.
Though seeing many things, you do not keep watch. Though your ears are open, you do not hear.”
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
For I will pour water upon him that is
thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy
seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
For I will pour water on the
thirsty land, and currents on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.
They that make a
graven image are all of them vanity; and their
delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they
see not, nor know; that they may be
ashamed.
All makers of idols are nothing, and the things they
treasure are worthless. Their witnesses fail to
see or
comprehend, so they are put to shame.
He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth
roast, and is satisfied:
yea, he warmeth himself, and saith,
Aha, I am warm, I have
seen the fire:
He burns half of it in the fire, and he roasts meat on that half. He eats the
roast and is satisfied. Indeed, he warms himself and says, “
Ah! I am warm; I
see the fire.”
They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
They do not
comprehend or
discern, for He has shut their eyes so they cannot
see and closed their minds so they cannot understand.
I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
I have not spoken in secret, from a place in a land of darkness. I did not say to the descendants of Jacob, ‘Seek Me in a wasteland.’ I, the LORD, speak the truth; I say what is right.
In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
In the LORD all descendants of Israel will be justified and will
exult.
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered,
yea, thy shame shall be
seen: I will take
vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
Your nakedness will be uncovered and your shame will be exposed. I will take
vengeance; I will
spare no one.”
For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None
seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath
perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
You were secure in your wickedness; you said, ‘No one
sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge led you
astray; you told
yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me.’
Thou hast heard,
see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou
didst not know them.
You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not acknowledge them? From now on I will tell you of new things, hidden things unknown to you.
Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of
affliction.
See, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of
affliction.
Thy
seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy
bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and your offspring as numerous as its grains; their name would never be cut off or
eliminated from My presence.”
Thus saith the LORD, the
Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall
see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Thus says the LORD, the
Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, to Him who was
despised and
abhorred by the nation, to the Servant of rulers: “Kings will
see You and rise, and princes will bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen You.”
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath
begotten me these,
seeing I have lost my children, and am
desolate, a
captive, and removing to and
fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has
begotten these for me? I was
bereaved and barren; I was exiled and rejected. So who has reared them? Look, I was left all alone, so where did they come from?’”
Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall
condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the
moth shall eat them up.
Surely the Lord GOD helps Me. Who is there to
condemn Me?
See, they will all wear out like a garment; the
moths will
devour them.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that
seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are
hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are
digged.
“
Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness, you who
seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut, and to the
quarry from which you were
hewn.
Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of
trembling, even the
dregs of the cup of my
fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:
Thus says your Lord, the LORD, even your God, who defends His people: “
See, I have removed from your hand the cup of
staggering. From that
goblet, the cup of My
fury, you will never drink again.
Thy
watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall
see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again
Zion.
Listen! Your
watchmen lift up their voices, together they
shout for joy. For every eye will
see when the LORD returns to
Zion.
The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
The LORD has bared His holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
So shall he
sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they
see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
so He will
sprinkle many nations. Kings will shut their mouths because of Him. For they will
see what they have not been told, and they will understand what they have not heard.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall
see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to
attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
Yet it pleased the LORD to
bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall
see his
seed, he shall
prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall
prosper in his hand.
Yet it was the LORD’s will to
crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt offering, He will
see His offspring, He will
prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will
prosper in His hand.
He shall
see of the
travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant
justify many; for he shall bear their
iniquities.
After the
anguish of His soul, He will
see the light of life and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant will
justify many, and He will bear their
iniquities.
For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy
seed shall
inherit the Gentiles, and make the
desolate cities to be inhabited.
For you will spread out to the right and left; your descendants will dispossess the nations and inhabit the
desolate cities.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give
seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing
seed to
sow and food to eat,
Yea, they are
greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are
shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
Like
ravenous dogs, they are never satisfied. They are
shepherds with no
discernment; they all turn to their own way, each one
seeking his own gain:
“But come here, you sons of a
sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!
When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall
inherit my holy mountain;
When you cry out, let your companies of idols deliver you! Yet the wind will carry off all of them, a breath will take them away. But he who
seeks refuge in Me will
inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.”
I have
seen his ways, and will
heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
I have
seen his ways, but I will
heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,
Yet they
seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and
forsook not the
ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
For day after day they
seek Me and delight to know My ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not
forsake the justice of their God. They ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”
Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou
seest not? wherefore have we
afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
“Why have we fasted, and You have not
seen? Why have we humbled ourselves, and You have not noticed?” “Behold, on the day of your fast, you do as you please, and you
oppress all your workers.
Is it not to deal thy bread to the
hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou
seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not
thyself from thine own flesh?
Isn’t it to share your bread with the
hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your home, to
clothe the naked when you
see him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit will not depart from you, and My words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and grandchildren, from now on and forevermore,” says the LORD.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you, and His glory will appear over you.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and
see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be
nursed at thy side.
Lift up your eyes and look around: They all gather and come to you; your sons will come from
afar, and your daughters will be carried on the arm.
Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
Then you will look and be
radiant, and your heart will
tremble and swell with joy, because the riches of the sea will be brought to you, and the wealth of the nations will come to you.
And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
Their descendants will be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the LORD has blessed.
For as the earth bringeth forth her
bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
Nations will
see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will
bestow.
Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of
Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Behold, the LORD has proclaimed to the ends of the earth, “Say to Daughter
Zion:
See, your
Savior comes! Look, His reward is with Him, and His
recompense goes before Him.”
Look down from heaven, and behold from the
habitation of thy
holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy
bowels and of thy
mercies toward me? are they restrained?
Look down from heaven and
see, from Your holy and glorious
habitation. Where are Your zeal and might? Your
yearning and
compassion for me are restrained.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
Be not
wroth very
sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold,
see, we
beseech thee, we are all thy people.
Do not be
angry, O LORD, beyond measure; do not remember our iniquity
forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray; we are all Your people!
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
“I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’
And I will bring forth a
seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My
elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
And
Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of
Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.
Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of
Achor a resting place for herds, for My people who
seek Me.
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
They will not labor in vain or bear children
doomed to
disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD— they and their descendants with them.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that
tremble at his word; your brethren that
hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be
glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be
ashamed.
You who
tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: “Your brothers who
hate you and
exclude you because of My name have said, ‘Let the LORD be
glorified that we may
see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath
seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Who has heard of such as this? Who has
seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be delivered in an instant? Yet as soon as
Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.
And when ye
see this, your heart shall
rejoice, and your bones shall
flourish like an
herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his
indignation toward his enemies.
When you
see, you will
rejoice, and you will
flourish like grass; then the hand of the LORD will be revealed to His servants, but His wrath will be shown to His enemies.
For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
“And I, knowing their deeds and thoughts, am coming to gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see My glory.
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to
Tarshish,
Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to
Tubal, and
Javan, to the isles
afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have
seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
I will establish a sign among them, and I will send survivors from among them to the nations—to
Tarshish, Put, and the archers of Lud; to
Tubal,
Javan, and the islands far away who have not heard of My fame or
seen My glory. So they will
proclaim My glory among the nations.
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
“For just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, will
endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “so your descendants and your name will
endure.
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have
transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be
quenched; and they shall be an
abhorring unto all flesh.
“As they go forth, they will
see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never be
quenched, and they will be a
horror to all mankind.”
See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
See, I have appointed you
today over nations and kingdoms to
uproot and
tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what
seest thou? And I said, I
see a rod of an
almond tree.
And the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “Jeremiah, what do you
see?” “I
see a branch of an
almond tree,” I replied.
Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well
seen: for I will
hasten my word to perform it.
“You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “for I am watching over My word to
accomplish it.”
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What
seest thou? And I said, I
see a
seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you
see?” “I
see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is
tilting toward us from the north.”
For pass over the isles of
Chittim, and
see; and send unto
Kedar, and consider
diligently, and
see if there be such a thing.
Cross over to the coasts of
Cyprus and take a look; send to
Kedar and consider carefully;
see if there has ever been anything like this:
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and
see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast
forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Your own evil will discipline you; your own
apostasies will
reprimand you. Consider and
realize how evil and bitter it is for you to
forsake the LORD your God and to have no fear of Me,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right
seed: how then art thou turned into the
degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
I had planted you like a choice vine from the very best
seed. How could you turn
yourself before Me into a
rotten, wild vine?
How canst thou say, I am not
polluted, I have not gone after
Baalim?
see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift
dromedary traversing her ways;
“How can you say, ‘I am not
defiled; I have not run after the Baals’? Look at your
behavior in the valley; acknowledge what you have done. You are a swift young she-
camel galloping here and there,
A wild
ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that
seek her will not
weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
a wild
donkey at home in the wilderness,
sniffing the wind in the heat of her desire. Who can restrain her passion? All who
seek her need not
weary themselves; in mating season they will find her.
O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?
You people of this generation, consider the word of the LORD: “Have I been a wilderness to Israel or a land of dense darkness? Why do My people say, ‘We are free to
roam; we will come to You no more’?
Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
How
skillfully you pursue love! Even the most immoral of women could learn from your ways.
Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and
see where thou hast not been
lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast
polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Lift up your eyes to the barren heights and
see. Is there any place where you have not been
violated? You sat beside the
highways waiting for your lovers, like a
nomad in the desert. You have
defiled the land with your
prostitution and wickedness.
The LORD said also unto me in the days of
Josiah the king, Hast thou
seen that which
backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the
harlot.
Now in the days of King
Josiah, the LORD said to me, “Have you
seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every green tree to
prostitute herself there.
Set up the standard toward
Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Raise a signal flag toward
Zion.
Seek refuge! Do not delay! For I am bringing
disaster from the north, and terrible destruction.
How long shall I
see the standard, and hear the sound of the
trumpet?
How long must I see the signal flag and hear the sound of the horn?
And when thou art
spoiled, what
wilt thou do? Though thou clothest
thyself with
crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make
thyself fair; thy lovers will
despise thee, they will
seek thy life.
Run ye to and
fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and
see now, and know, and
seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that
seeketh the truth; and I will
pardon it.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person,
anyone who acts justly,
anyone who
seeks the truth, then I will
forgive the city.
They have
belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we
see sword nor famine:
They have
lied about the LORD and said: “He will not do anything;
harm will not come to us; we will not
see sword or famine.
Hear now this, O
foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and
see not; which have ears, and hear not:
“Hear this, O
foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not
see, who have ears but do not hear.
To whom shall I speak, and give
warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is
uncircumcised, and they cannot
hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
To whom can I give this
warning? Who will
listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear.
See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’
Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
Has this house, which bears My Name, become a den of robbers in your sight?
Yes, I too have
seen it, declares the LORD.
But go ye now unto my place which was in
Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and
see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
But go now to the place in
Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for My Name, and
see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.
And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
And I will cast you out of My presence, just as I have cast out all your brothers, all the descendants of Ephraim.
Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
For the pastors are become
brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not
prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
For the
shepherds have become senseless; they do not
seek the LORD. Therefore they have not
prospered, and all their flock is scattered.
What hath my beloved to do in mine house,
seeing she hath wrought
lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
What right has My beloved in My house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can consecrated meat
avert your
doom, so that you can
rejoice?
But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the
reins and the heart, let me
see thy
vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
O LORD of Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart and mind, let me
see Your
vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that
seek thy life, saying,
Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth who are
seeking your life and saying, “You must not
prophesy in the name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand.”
