And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to
inherit eternal life?
Then a certain ruler asked Him, “Good
Teacher, what must I do to
inherit eternal life?”
And some of the
Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master,
rebuke thy disciples.
But some of the
Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “
Teacher,
rebuke Your disciples!”
And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the
scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
Jesus was
teaching at the temple every day, but the chief priests,
scribes, and leaders of the people were intent on killing Him.
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the
scribes came upon him with the elders,
One day as Jesus was
teaching the people in the temple courts and
proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and
scribes, together with the elders, came up to Him.
And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
“
Teacher,” they inquired, “we know that You speak and
teach correctly. You show no
partiality, but
teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
“Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.
Then certain of the
scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
Some of the
scribes answered, “
Teacher, You have spoken well!”
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
Every day Jesus taught at the temple, but every evening He went out to
spend the night on the Mount of Olives.
And ye shall say unto the
goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the
passover with my disciples?
and say to the owner of that house, ‘The
Teacher asks: Where is the
guest room, where I may eat the
Passover with My disciples?’
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people,
teaching throughout all
Jewry, beginning from
Galilee to this place.
But they kept
insisting, “He stirs up the people all over
Judea with His
teaching. He began in
Galilee and has come all the way here.”
Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him,
Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
Jesus turned and saw them following. “What do you want?” He asked. They said to Him, “
Rabbi” (which means
Teacher), “where are You staying?”
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him,
Rabbi, we know that thou art a
teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
He came to Jesus at night and said, “
Rabbi, we know that You are a
teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him.”
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and you do not understand these things?
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a difficult teaching. Who can accept it?”
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples
murmured at it, he said unto them,
Doth this
offend you?
Aware that His disciples were
grumbling about this
teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this
offend you?
Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
About
halfway through the feast, Jesus went up to the temple courts and began to
teach.
Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
“My teaching is not My own,” Jesus replied. “It comes from Him who sent Me.
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
If
anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My
teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.
Then
cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
Then Jesus, still
teaching in the temple courts,
cried out, “You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come of My own
accord, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him,
Then said the Jews among themselves,
Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the
dispersed among the Gentiles, and
teach the Gentiles?
At this, the Jews said to one another, “Where does He intend to go that we will not find Him? Will He go where the Jews are
dispersed among the Greeks, and
teach the Greeks?
And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
Early in the morning He went back into the temple courts. All the people came to Him, and He sat down to teach them.
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in
adultery, in the very act.
and said, “
Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of
adultery.
These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts, near the treasury. Yet no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.
They answered and said unto him, Thou
wast altogether born in sins, and
dost thou
teach us? And they cast him out.
They replied, “You were born in utter sin, and you are
instructing us?” And they threw him out.
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
After
Martha had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside to tell her, “The
Teacher is here and is asking for you.”
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
You call Me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am.
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and His teaching.
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not
rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my
raiment among them, and for my
vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
So they said to one another, “Let us not
tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it.” This was to
fulfill the Scripture: “They divided My garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing.” So that is what the soldiers did.
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
The former treatise have I made, O
Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and
teach,
In my first book, O
Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to
teach,
And they continued
stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’
teaching and to the
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Being
grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
greatly disturbed that they were
teaching the people and
proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel and sent to the prison to have them brought.
At
daybreak the apostles entered the temple courts as they had been told and began to
teach the people. When the high priest and his associates arrived, they
convened the
Sanhedrin—the full assembly of the elders of Israel—and sent to the
jail for the apostles.
Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
Then someone came in and
announced, “Look, the men you put in
jail are standing in the temple courts
teaching the people!”
Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
“We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us responsible for this man’s blood.”
Then stood there up one in the council, a
Pharisee, named
Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
But a
Pharisee named
Gamaliel, a
teacher of the law who was honored by all the people, stood up in the
Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a short time.
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to
teach and
preach Jesus Christ.
Every day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they did not stop
teaching and
proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and
teachers; as
Barnabas, and
Simeon that was called
Niger, and
Lucius of
Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the
tetrarch, and Saul.
Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being
astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
When the
proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was
astonished at the
teaching about the Lord.
And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be
circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
Then some men came down from
Judea and were
teaching the brothers, “Unless you are
circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
Paul also and
Barnabas continued in Antioch,
teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
But Paul and
Barnabas remained at Antioch, along with many others,
teaching and preaching the word of the Lord.
And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
by promoting customs that are unlawful for us Romans to adopt or practice.”
These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all
readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the
Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these
teachings were true.
And they took him, and brought him unto
Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine,
whereof thou speakest, is?
So they took Paul and brought him to the
Areopagus, where they asked him, “May we know what this new
teaching is that you are presenting?
And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
So Paul stayed for a year and a half,
teaching the word of God among the
Corinthians.
Serving the Lord with all
humility of mind, and with many
tears, and temptations, which
befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
I served the Lord with great
humility and with
tears, especially in the trials that came upon me through the plots of the Jews.
Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to
warn every one night and day with
tears.
Therefore be
alert and remember that for three years I never stopped
warning each of you night and day with
tears.
And they are informed of thee, that thou
teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to
forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to
circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
But they are under the impression that you
teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to
forsake Moses, telling them not to
circumcise their children or observe our customs.
Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that
teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath
polluted this holy place.
crying out, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who
teaches everywhere against our people and against our law and against this place.
Furthermore, he has brought Greeks into the temple and
defiled this holy place.”
And when there arose a great
dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
The dispute grew so violent that the commander was afraid they would
tear Paul to pieces. He ordered the soldiers to go down and remove him by force and bring him into the
barracks.
Preaching the kingdom of God, and
teaching those things which
concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man
forbidding him.
Boldly and freely he proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.
An
instructor of the
foolish, a
teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Thou therefore which
teachest another,
teachest thou not
thyself? thou that preachest a man should not
steal,
dost thou
steal?
But God be
thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
But
thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of
teaching to which you were committed.
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
Now I
beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Now I
urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who
create divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the
teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
For this cause have I sent unto you
Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into
remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I
teach every where in every church.
That is why I have sent you
Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which is exactly what I
teach everywhere in every church.
Doth not even nature itself
teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
Doesn’t nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles,
secondarily prophets, thirdly
teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments,
diversities of tongues.
And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third
teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of
healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.
Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by
prophesying, or by doctrine?
Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
But in the church, I would rather speak five
coherent words to
instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a
psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto
edifying.
What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together,
everyone has a
psalm or a
teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.
For out of much
affliction and
anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many
tears; not that ye should be
grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
For through many
tears I wrote you out of great distress and
anguish of heart, not to
grieve you but to let you know how much I love you.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
For though I should
boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for
edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be
ashamed:
For even if I
boast somewhat excessively about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather than
tearing you down, I will not be
ashamed.
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to
edification, and not to destruction.
This is why I write these things while absent, so that when I am present I will not need to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord gave me for building you up, not for
tearing you down.
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his
instructor.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some,
evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers;
And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and
teachers,
Then we will no longer be infants,
tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of
teaching and by the
clever cunning of men in their
deceitful scheming.
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even
weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Whom we
preach,
warning every man, and
teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
These will all perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you
teach and
admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with
gratitude in your hearts to God.
As I
besought thee to
abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they
teach no other doctrine,
As I urged you on my departure to
Macedonia, you should stay on at Ephesus to
instruct certain men not to
teach false doctrines
Desiring to be
teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor
whereof they
affirm.
They want to be
teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or that which they so
confidently assert.
For whoremongers, for them that
defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for
perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave traders and liars and perjurers, and for
anyone else who is
averse to sound
teaching Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a
teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity.
For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
But I suffer not a woman to
teach, nor to
usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will
abandon the faith to follow
deceitful spirits and the
teachings of demons,
These things command and teach.
Command and teach these things.
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.
Take
heed unto
thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save
thyself, and them that hear thee.
Pay close attention to your life and to your
teaching.
Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both
yourself and those who hear you.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not
blasphemed.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.
And they that have believing masters, let them not
despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things
teach and
exhort.
Those who have believing masters should not show disrespect because they are brothers, but should serve them all the more, since those receiving their good service are beloved believers.
Teach and
encourage these principles.
If any man
teach otherwise, and consent not to
wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to
godliness;
If
anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly
teaching,
Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
Recalling your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy.
Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a
teacher of the Gentiles.
to which I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching you have heard from me, with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to
teach others as well.
And the servant of the Lord must not
strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to
teach, patient,
You, however, have observed my
teaching, my conduct, my purpose, my faith, my
patience, my love, my
perseverance,
