Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into
Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen
went up from me.
And the Spirit lifted me up and carried me back to
Chaldea, to the exiles in the vision given by the Spirit of God. After the vision had gone up from me,
And thy
renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my
comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect in the
splendor I bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.
And he
went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and
devoured men.
He
prowled among the lions, and became a young lion. After learning to
tear his prey, he
devoured men.
Because they
despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but
polluted my sabbaths: for their heart
went after their idols.
because they kept
rejecting My ordinances, refusing to walk in My statutes, and
profaning My Sabbaths; for their hearts continually
went after their idols.
Yet they
went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the
harlot: so
went they in unto Aholah and unto
Aholibah, the
lewd women.
She hath
wearied herself with lies, and her great
scum went not forth out of her: her
scum shall be in the fire.
It has
frustrated every effort; its thick
rust has not been removed, even by the fire.
And say unto the
Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst,
Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was
profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was
desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they
went into captivity;
Tell the
Ammonites to hear the word of the Lord GOD, for this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because you
exclaimed, “
Aha!” when My sanctuary was
profaned, when the land of Israel was laid waste, and when the house of Judah
went into exile,
When thy wares
went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou
didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy
merchandise.
When your wares
went out to sea, you satisfied many nations. You enriched the kings of the earth with your abundant wealth and
merchandise.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he
went down to the grave I caused a
mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused
Lebanon to
mourn for him, and all the trees of the field
fainted for him.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the day it was brought down to
Sheol, I caused
mourning. I covered the deep because of it; I held back its rivers; its abundant waters were restrained. I made
Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field
fainted because of it.
They also
went down into
hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
They too descended with it to
Sheol, to those slain by the sword. As its allies they had lived in its shade among the nations.
There is
Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down
uncircumcised into the
nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
Elam is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword— those who
went down
uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the
uncircumcised, which are gone down to
hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their
iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
They do not lie down with the fallen warriors of old, who
went down to
Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads, whose shields rested on their bones, although the terror of the mighty was once in the land of the living.
There be the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are
ashamed of their might; and they lie
uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
All the leaders of the north and all the Sidonians are there; they
went down in disgrace with the slain,
despite the terror of their might. They lie
uncircumcised with those slain by the sword and bear their shame with those who descend to the Pit.
My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock
went astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
And when they entered unto the heathen,
whither they
went, they
profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
And wherever they
went among the nations, they
profaned My holy name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave His land.’
But I had
pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had
profaned among the heathen,
whither they
went.
But I had
concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had
profaned among the nations to which they had gone.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have
profaned among the heathen,
whither ye
went.
Therefore tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: It is not for your sake that I will act, O house of Israel, but for My holy name, which you
profaned among the nations to which you
went.
And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel
went into captivity for their iniquity: because they
trespassed against me, therefore
hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
And the nations will know that the house of Israel
went into exile for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful to Me. So I
hid My face from them and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and
went up the stairs thereof, and measured the
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
Then he came to the gate facing east and
climbed its steps. He measured the
threshold of the gate to be one rod deep.
And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
Its windows,
portico, and palm trees had the same measurements as those of the gate facing east. Seven steps led up to it, with its
portico opposite them.
The length of the
porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they
went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
The
portico was twenty cubits wide and twelve cubits deep, and ten steps led up to it. There were columns by the side pillars, one on each side.
Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits.
And he went into the inner sanctuary and measured the side pillars at the entrance to be two cubits wide. The entrance was six cubits wide, and the walls on each side were seven cubits wide.
And there was an
enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house
went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.
The side rooms surrounding the temple
widened at each successive level, because the structure surrounding the temple ascended by stages corresponding to the narrowing of the temple wall as it rose upward. And so a
stairway went up from the lowest story to the highest, through the middle one.
And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel
went astray, which
went astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity.
Surely the Levites who
wandered away from Me when Israel
went astray, and who
wandered away from Me after their idols, will bear the consequences of their iniquity.
But the priests the Levites, the sons of
Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel
went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD:
But the
Levitical priests, who are descended from
Zadok and who kept charge of My sanctuary when the Israelites
went astray from Me, are to approach Me to minister before Me. They will stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood, declares the Lord GOD.
And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ancles.
As the man
went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through
ankle-deep water.
It shall be for the priests that are
sanctified of the sons of
Zadok; which have kept my charge, which
went not
astray when the children of Israel
went astray, as the Levites
went astray.
It will be for the consecrated priests, the descendants of
Zadok, who kept My charge and did not go
astray as the Levites did when the Israelites
went astray.
And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
So the decree
went out that the wise men were to be executed, and men
went to look for Daniel and his friends to
execute them.
Then Daniel
went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would
shew the king the interpretation.
So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him some time, so that he could give him the interpretation.
Then Daniel
went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah, his companions:
Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and
Azariah,
Therefore Daniel
went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he
went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will
shew unto the king the interpretation.
Therefore Daniel
went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon, and said to him, “Do not
execute the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the interpretation.”
Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King
Darius, live for ever.
So the administrators and satraps
went together to the king and said, “O King
Darius, may you live
forever!
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he
went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he
kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave
thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime.
Now when Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he
went into his house, where the windows of his upper room opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave
thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God.
Then these men
went as a group and found Daniel petitioning and
imploring his God.
Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
Then the king
went to his palace and spent the night fasting. No
entertainment was brought before him, and sleep fled from him.
Then the king arose very early in the morning, and
went in
haste unto the den of lions.
At the first light of
dawn, the king got up and
hurried to the den of lions.
And I Daniel
fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was
astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
I, Daniel, was exhausted and lay ill for days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business. I was confounded by the vision; it was beyond understanding.
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:
So he
went and took
Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.
So
Hosea went and married
Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.
And I will visit upon her the days of
Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she
went after her lovers, and
forgat me, saith the LORD.
I will
punish her for the days of the Baals when she burned incense to them, when she decked herself with rings and
jewelry, and
went after her lovers. But Me she
forgot,” declares the LORD.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then
went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not
heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria and sent to the great king. But he cannot cure you or
heal your wound.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they
went to
Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruits of the fig tree in its first season. But they
went to
Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves to Shame; so they became as
detestable as the thing they loved.
As they called them, so they
went from them: they sacrificed unto
Baalim, and burned incense to
graven images.
But the more I called Israel, the farther they departed from Me. They sacrificed to the Baals and burned incense to carved images.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will only see a hundred return, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
As if a man did
flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or
went into the house, and
leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent
bit him.
It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to
encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be
bitten by a
snake.
But
Jonah rose up to
flee unto
Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and
went down to
Joppa; and he found a ship going to
Tarshish: so he paid the
fare thereof, and
went down into it, to go with them unto
Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
To the roots of the mountains I descended; the earth beneath me
barred me in
forever! But You raised my life from the pit, O LORD my God!
When my soul
fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
As my life was
fading away, I remembered the LORD. My prayer
went up to You, to Your holy temple.
So
Jonah arose, and
went unto
Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey.
This time
Jonah got up and
went to
Nineveh, in accordance with the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, requiring a three-day journey.
So
Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a
booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
Then
Jonah left the city and sat down east of it, where he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city.
Yet was she carried away, she
went into captivity: her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
Yet she became an exile; she
went into captivity. Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her
dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
Before him
went the
pestilence, and burning coals
went forth at his feet.
Plague went before Him, and fever followed in His steps.
Sun and moon stood still in their places at the
flash of Your flying arrows, at the brightness of Your
shining spear.
Thou
wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine
anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck.
Selah.
You
went forth for the salvation of Your people, to save Your
anointed. You
crushed the head of the house of the wicked and
stripped him from head to
toe.
Selah And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him
Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.
Then the angel who was speaking with me came forward and told me, “Now lift up your eyes and see what is approaching.”
And the bay
went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and
fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and
fro through the earth. So they walked to and
fro through the earth.
As the strong horses
went out, they were eager to go and
patrol the earth; and the LORD said, “Go and
patrol the earth.” So they
patrolled the earth.
For before these days there was no
hire for man, nor any
hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that
went out or came in because of the
affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.
For before those days neither man nor beast received wages, nor was there safety from the enemy for
anyone who came or
went, for I had turned every man against his
neighbor.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they
went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like sheep,
oppressed for lack of a
shepherd.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
After they had heard the king, they
went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east
went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the Child was.
And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
So Joseph got up, took the Child and His mother, and went to the land of Israel.
And he came and dwelt in a city called
Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a
Nazarene.
and he
went and lived in a town called
Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets: “He will be called a
Nazarene.”
Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
People
went out to him from Jerusalem and all
Judea and the whole region around the Jordan.
And Jesus, when he was
baptized,
went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove, and lighting upon him:
As soon as Jesus was
baptized, He
went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove and resting on Him.
And leaving
Nazareth, he came and dwelt in
Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
And Jesus
went about all
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Jesus
went throughout
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every disease and sickness among the people.
And his fame
went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with
divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the
palsy; and he
healed them.
News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the
demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the
paralyzed—and He
healed them.
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him,
And his disciples came to him, and
awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
The disciples
went and
woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they
went into the
herd of
swine: and, behold, the whole
herd of
swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
“Go!” He told them. So they came out and
went into the pigs, and the whole
herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the waters.
And they that kept them fled, and
went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was
befallen to the possessed of the devils.
Those tending the pigs ran off into the town and reported all this, including the account of the
demon-possessed men.
And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they
besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Then the whole town
went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they
begged Him to leave their region.
And he arose, and departed to his house.
And the man got up and went home.
And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the
receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
As Jesus
went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax
booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.
And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
So Jesus got up and went with him, along with His disciples.
But when the people were put forth, he
went in, and took her by the hand, and the
maid arose.
After the crowd had been put outside, Jesus
went in and took the
girl by the hand, and she got up.
And the fame
hereof went abroad into all that land.
And the news about this spread throughout that region.
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout the land.
As they
went out, behold, they brought to him a
dumb man possessed with a devil.
As they were leaving, a
demon-possessed man who was
mute was brought to Jesus.
And Jesus
went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Jesus
went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every disease and sickness.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to
preach in their cities.
After Jesus had finished
instructing His twelve disciples, He
went on from there to teach and
preach in their cities.
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What
went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed
shaken with the wind?
As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed
swaying in the wind?
But what
went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.
But what
went ye out for to see? A prophet?
yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
What then did you go out to see? A prophet?
Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
At that time Jesus
went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an
hungred, and began to
pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
At that time Jesus
went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were
hungry and began to
pick the heads of grain and eat them.
And when he was departed thence, he
went into their
synagogue:
Moving on from there, Jesus entered their
synagogue,
Then the
Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea.
And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
Such large crowds gathered around Him that He got into a boat and sat down, while all the people stood on the shore.
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a
sower went forth to
sow;
And He told them many things in parables, saying, “A farmer
went out to
sow his seed.
But while men
slept, his enemy came and
sowed tares among the wheat, and
went his way.
Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
Then Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto
treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The kingdom of heaven is like
treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he
hid it again, and in his joy he
went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Who, when he had found one
pearl of great price,
went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
When he found one very precious
pearl, he
went away and sold all he had and bought it.
And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.
And Jesus
went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with
compassion toward them, and he
healed their sick.
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
After He had sent them away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,
And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.
Then Jesus
went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and
Sidon.
Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the district of Tyre and
Sidon.
