Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

forsaken among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom You remember no more, who are cut off from Your
care.
Thou hast broken
Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
You
whisk them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning—
For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His
care.
Today, if you hear His voice,
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that
excel in strength, that do his commandments,
hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who
carry out His word, who
hearken to the voice of His command.

carried them
captives.

rejoicing, bringing his
sheaves with him.

weeping, bearing a
trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy,
carrying sheaves of grain.
For there they that
carried us away
captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us
mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of
Zion.

Zion.”
I looked on my right hand, and
beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man
cared for my soul.
Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the
similitude of a palace:
Then our sons will be like plants
nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars
carved to
adorn a palace.

tapestry, with
carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

solace ourselves with loves.

hewn out her seven pillars:
Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars.
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the
fool rageth, and is
confident.
A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a
fool is
careless and
reckless.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
He who keeps a commandment preserves his soul, but he who is careless in his ways will die.
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider
diligently what is before thee:
When you sit down to
dine with a ruler, consider
carefully what is set before you,

fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
As a dream comes through many
cares, so the speech of a
fool comes with many words.
As he came forth of his mother’s
womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may
carry away in his hand.
As a man came from his mother’s
womb, so he will depart again, naked as he arrived. He takes nothing for his labor to
carry in his hands.
Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and
curse not the rich in thy
bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall
carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
Do not
curse the king even in your thoughts, or
curse the rich even in your
bedroom, for a bird of the air may
carry your words, and a winged creature may report your speech.
Behold, it is Solomon’s
carriage,
escorted by sixty of the mightiest men of Israel.
King Solomon has made his
carriage out of the timber of
Lebanon.

Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the
galleries.

hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their
pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

cart rope:
Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of
deceit and pull sin along with
cart ropes,
Therefore is the anger of the LORD
kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath
smitten them: and the hills did
tremble, and their
carcases were
torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Therefore the anger of the LORD burns against His people; His hand is raised against them to strike them down. The mountains
quake, and the corpses lay like refuse in the streets.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
Their
roaring shall be like a lion, they shall
roar like young lions:
yea, they shall
roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall
carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
Their
roaring is like that of a lion; they
roar like young lions. They
growl and seize their prey; they
carry it away from
deliverance.
For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the
spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
For before the boy knows how to cry ‘Father’ or ‘Mother,’ the wealth of Damascus and the
plunder of Samaria will be
carried off by the king of Assyria.”
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of his own offspring.
Is not Calno as
Carchemish? is not
Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?
“Is not Calno like
Carchemish? Is not
Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?

Michmash he hath laid up his
carriages:

But thou art cast out of thy grave like an
abominable branch, and as the
raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a
carcase trodden under feet.
But you are cast out of your grave like a rejected branch, covered by those slain with the sword, and
dumped into a rocky pit like a
carcass trampled underfoot.

gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they
carry away to the
brook of the willows.

watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and
anoint the shield.

carpet, they eat, they drink! Rise up, O princes, oil the shields!
The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye
lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
This is the burden against Arabia: In the thickets of Arabia you must
lodge, O
caravans of Dedanites.
What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast
hewed thee out a
sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a
sepulchre on high, and that graveth an
habitation for himself in a rock?
What are you doing here, and who authorized you to
carve out a tomb for
yourself here—to
chisel your tomb in the height and cut your resting place in the rock?
Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
Look, O mighty man! The LORD is about to
shake you violently. He will take hold of you,
Is this your
joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall
carry her
afar off to
sojourn.
Is this your
jubilant city, whose origin is from antiquity, whose feet have taken her to settle far away?
From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a
vexation only to understand the report.
As often as it passes through, it will
carry you away; it will
sweep through morning after morning, by day and by night.” The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.
When he hath made plain the face thereof,
doth he not cast abroad the
fitches, and
scatter the
cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and
rie in their place?
When he has leveled its surface, does he not
sow caraway and
scatter cumin? He plants wheat in rows and barley in plots, and
rye within its border.
Grain for bread must be ground, but it is not endlessly
threshed. Though the wheels of the
cart roll over it, the horses do not
crush it.
Woe to the
rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
“
Woe to the
rebellious children,” declares the LORD, “to those who
carry out a plan that is not Mine, who form an alliance, but against My will,
heaping up sin upon sin.
The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and
anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the
viper and
fiery flying serpent, they will
carry their riches upon the shoulders of young
asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.
This is the burden against the beasts of the Negev: Through a land of
hardship and distress, of
lioness and lion, of
viper and flying serpent, they
carry their wealth on the backs of
donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people of no profit to them.
Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye
careless women: for the
vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
In a little more than a year you will
tremble, O secure ones. For the
grape harvest will fail and the fruit harvest will not arrive.
Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye
careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and
gird sackcloth upon your loins.
Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well
strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great
spoil divided; the
lame take the prey.
Your ropes are
slack; they cannot secure the mast or spread the sail. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided, and even the
lame will
carry off
plunder.
Their slain also shall be cast out, and their
stink shall come up out of their
carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
Their slain will be left unburied, and the
stench of their corpses will rise; the mountains will flow with their blood.
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my
chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of
Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice
fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his
Carmel.
Through your servants you have
taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many
chariots I have ascended to the heights of the mountains, to the remote peaks of
Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its
cypresses. I have reached its
farthest heights, the densest of its forests.
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
He shall feed his flock like a
shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and
carry them in his
bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
He tends His flock like a
shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and
carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the
nursing ewes.
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

carpenter encouraged the
goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that
smote the
anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with
nails, that it should not be moved.
Thou shalt
fan them, and the wind shall
carry them away, and the
whirlwind shall
scatter them: and thou shalt
rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
You will
winnow them, and a wind will
carry them away; a
gale will
scatter them. But you will
rejoice in the LORD; you will glory in the Holy One of Israel.
The
carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a
stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a
shrine.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their
graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
Come, gather together, and draw near, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry idols of wood and pray to a god that cannot save.
Bel boweth down,
Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your
carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the
weary beast.
Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the
remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the
belly, which are
carried from the
womb:
“
Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, all the
remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the
womb,
carried along since birth.
And even to your old age I am he; and even to
hoar hairs will I
carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will
carry, and will deliver you.
Even to your old age, I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will
carry you; I will
sustain you and deliver you.
They bear him upon the shoulder, they
carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove:
yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
They lift it to their shoulder and
carry it along; they set it in its place, and there it stands, not
budging from that spot. They cry out to it, but it does not answer; it saves no one from his troubles.
Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest
carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
So now hear this, O lover of
luxury who sits securely, who says to herself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’
I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine
idol hath done them, and my
graven image, and my
molten image, hath commanded them.
Therefore I declared it to you long ago; I
announced it before it came to pass, so that you could not claim, ‘My
idol has done this; my
carved image and
molten god has ordained it.’
All ye,
assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
Come together, all of you, and
listen: Which of the idols has
foretold these things? The LORD’s chosen ally will
carry out His desire against Babylon, and His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations, and raise My
banner to the peoples. They will bring your sons in their arms and
carry your daughters on their shoulders.
Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing; come out from it,
purify yourselves, you who
carry the vessels of the LORD.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and
carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken,
smitten of God, and
afflicted.
And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
I will make your pinnacles of
rubies, your gates of
sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.
Wherefore do ye
spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Why
spend money on that which is not bread, and your labor on that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of foods.
When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall
carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall
inherit my holy mountain;
When you cry out, let your companies of idols deliver you! Yet the wind will
carry off all of them, a breath will take them away. But he who seeks refuge in Me will
inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.”
Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be
nursed at thy side.
Lift up your eyes and look around: They all gather and come to you; your sons will come from
afar, and your daughters will be
carried on the arm.
The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the
dromedaries of
Midian and
Ephah; all they from
Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall
shew forth the praises of the LORD.
In all their
affliction he was
afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his
pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and
carried them all the days of old.
In all their distress, He too was
afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them. In His love and
compassion He redeemed them; He lifted them up and
carried them all the days of old.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our
iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Each of us has become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our
iniquities carry us away like the wind.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye
suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be
dandled upon her knees.
For this is what the LORD says: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flowing stream; you will
nurse and be
carried on her arm, and
bounced upon her knees.
And they shall go forth, and look upon the
carcases of the men that have
transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be
quenched; and they shall be an
abhorring unto all flesh.
“As they go forth, they will see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never be
quenched, and they will be a
horror to all mankind.”
and through the days of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the
eleventh year of
Zedekiah son of
Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
For pass over the isles of
Chittim, and see; and send unto
Kedar, and consider
diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
Cross over to the coasts of
Cyprus and take a look; send to
Kedar and consider
carefully; see if there has ever been anything like this:
They have
healed also the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
And the
carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall
fray them away.
The corpses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to
scare them away.
For they have
healed the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in
Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they
provoked me to anger with their
graven images, and with strange
vanities?
Listen to the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far away: “Is the LORD no longer in
Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they
provoked Me to anger with their
carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?”
Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the
carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the
harvestman, and none shall gather them.
Declare that this is what the LORD says: “The corpses of men will fall like dung upon the open field, like newly cut grain behind the
reaper, with no one to gather it.”
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Like scarecrows in a
cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be
carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they can do no
harm, and neither can they do any good.”
Then the LORD said unto me,
Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
Then the LORD said to me, “
Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant and
carry them out.
What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought
lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
What right has My beloved in My house, having
carried out so many evil schemes? Can consecrated meat
avert your
doom, so that you can
rejoice?
But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But You know me, O LORD; You see me and test my heart toward You.
Drag away the wicked like sheep to the slaughter and set them apart for the day of
carnage.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is
carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken
captive.
The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be
carried away
captive all of it, it shall be wholly
carried away
captive.
The cities of the Negev have been shut
tight, and no one can open them. All Judah has been
carried into exile, wholly taken
captive.
They shall die of
grievous deaths; they shall not be
lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their
carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
“They will die from deadly diseases. They will not be
mourned or buried, but will lie like dung on the ground. They will be finished off by sword and famine, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the air and beasts of the earth.”
And first I will
recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have
defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the
carcases of their
detestable and
abominable things.
And I will first repay them double their iniquity and their sin, because they have
defiled My land with the
carcasses of their
detestable idols, and they have filled My inheritance with their abominations.”
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be
careful in the year of
drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
He is like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It does not
worry in a year of
drought, nor does it cease to produce fruit.
