He
couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall
stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and
cursed is he that
curseth thee.
And Balak’s anger was
kindled against
Balaam, and he
smote his hands together: and Balak said unto
Balaam, I called thee to
curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
Then Balak’s anger burned against
Balaam, and he struck his hands together and said to
Balaam, “I summoned you to
curse my enemies, but behold, you have
persisted in blessing them these three times.
Neither shalt thou bring an
abomination into thine house, lest thou be a
cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly
detest it, and thou shalt utterly
abhor it; for it is a
cursed thing.
And you must not bring any
detestable thing into your house, or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. You are to utterly
detest and
abhor it, because it is set apart for destruction.
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a
curse;
See,
today I am setting before you a blessing and a
curse—
And a
curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
but a
curse if you disobey the commandments of the LORD your God and turn aside from the path I command you
today by following other gods, which you have not known.
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land
whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount
Gerizim, and the
curse upon mount
Ebal.
When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, you are to
proclaim the blessing on Mount
Gerizim and the
curse on Mount
Ebal.
And there shall
cleave nought of the
cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and
shew thee mercy, and have
compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath
sworn unto thy fathers;
Nothing devoted to destruction shall
cling to your hands, so that the LORD will turn from His fierce anger, grant you mercy, show you
compassion, and multiply you as He
swore to your fathers,
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is
accursed of God;) that thy land be not
defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to
bury him that day, because
anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s
curse. You must not
defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they
hired against thee
Balaam the son of Beor of
Pethor of
Mesopotamia, to
curse thee.
For they did not meet you with food and water on your way out of Egypt, and they
hired Balaam son of Beor from
Pethor in
Aram-naharaim to
curse you.
Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not
hearken unto
Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the
curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.
Yet the LORD your God would not
listen to
Balaam, and the LORD your God turned the
curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.
Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who dishonors his father or mother.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
‘
Cursed is he who moves his
neighbor’s boundary stone.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that maketh the blind to
wander out of the way. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who lets a blind man
wander in the road.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife; because he uncovereth his father’s
skirt. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he has
violated his father’s marriage bed.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who lies with any animal.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who sleeps with his mother-in-law.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who strikes down his
neighbor in secret.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that taketh reward to
slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who accepts a
bribe to kill an innocent person.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who does not put the words of this law into practice.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
But it shall come to pass, if thou
wilt not
hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these
curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
If, however, you do not obey the LORD your God by carefully following all His commandments and statutes I am giving you
today, all these
curses will come upon you and overtake you:
Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and
cursed shalt thou be in the field.
Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy
kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
The fruit of your
womb will be
cursed, as well as the produce of your land, the
calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.
Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and
cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
You will be
cursed when you come in and
cursed when you go out.
The LORD shall send upon thee
cursing,
vexation, and
rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast
forsaken me.
The LORD will send
curses upon you, confusion and reproof in all to which you put your hand, until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the wickedness you have committed in
forsaking Him.
The LORD will
afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors and scabs and
itch from which you cannot be
cured.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the LORD your God and keep the commandments and statutes He gave you.
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
These
curses will be a sign and a wonder upon you and your descendants
forever.
And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this
curse, that he
bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add
drunkenness to
thirst:
because when such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself, saying, ‘I will have peace, even though I walk in the
stubbornness of my own heart.’ This will bring
disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.
The LORD will not
spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the
curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall
blot out his name from under heaven.
The LORD will never be willing to
forgive him. Instead, His anger and jealousy will burn against that man, and every
curse written in this book will fall upon him. The LORD will
blot out his name from under heaven
And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
and single him out from all the tribes of Israel for
disaster, according to all the
curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the
curses that are written in this book:
Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against this land, and He brought upon it every
curse written in this book.
And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the
curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations,
whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,
“When all these things come upon you—the blessings and curses I have set before you—and you call them to mind in all the nations to which the LORD your God has banished you,
And the LORD thy God will put all these
curses upon thine enemies, and on them that
hate thee, which
persecuted thee.
Then the LORD your God will put all these
curses upon your enemies who
hate you and
persecute you.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and
cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you
today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and
cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live,
Butter of
kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of
Bashan, and goats, with the fat of
kidneys of wheat; and thou
didst drink the pure blood of the
grape.
with
curds from the
herd and milk from the flock, with the fat of lambs, with rams from
Bashan, and goats, with the choicest grains of wheat. From the juice of the finest grapes you
drank the wine.
But keep away from the things devoted to destruction, lest you
yourself be set apart for destruction. If you take any of these, you will set apart the camp of Israel for destruction and bring
disaster upon it.
And Joshua
adjured them at that time, saying,
Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city
Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his
firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
At that time Joshua
invoked this solemn oath: “
Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and rebuilds this city,
Jericho; at the cost of his
firstborn he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”
And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.
Afterward, Joshua read
aloud all the words of the law—the blessings and the
curses—according to all that is written in the Book of the Law.
Now therefore ye are
cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being
bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.
Now therefore you are under a
curse and will perpetually serve as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”
And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to
Adar, and
fetched a compass to Karkaa:
proceeded south of the
Ascent of Akrabbim, continued on to Zin, went over to the south of Kadesh-barnea, ran past Hezron up to Addar, and
curved toward Karka.
And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim:
From the
hilltop the border
curved to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron, and then bent around toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).
And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount
Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:
The border
curled westward from Baalah to Mount
Seir, ran along the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and crossed to Timnah.
And the border went out unto the side of
Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.
Then it went out to the northern slope of
Ekron,
curved toward Shikkeron, proceeded to Mount Baalah, went on to Jabneel, and ended at the Sea.
And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Beth-horon southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjath-
baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.
On the west side the border
curved southward from the hill facing Beth-horon on the south and came out at Kiriath-
baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the western side.
And was drawn from the north, and went forth to En-shemesh, and went forth toward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and descended to the stone of Bohan the son of
Reuben,
From there it
curved northward and proceeded to En-shemesh and on to Geliloth facing the
Ascent of Adummim, and continued down to the Stone of Bohan son of
Reuben.
And from thence passeth on along on the east to Gittah-hepher, to Ittah-kazin, and goeth out to Remmon-methoar to Neah;
From there it crossed eastward to
Gath-hepher and to Eth-kazin; it extended to
Rimmon and
curved around toward Neah.
Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and
warred against Israel, and sent and called
Balaam the son of Beor to
curse you:
Then Balak son of Zippor, the king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for
Balaam son of Beor to
curse you,
Curse ye
Meroz, said the angel of the LORD,
curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.
‘
Curse Meroz,’ says the angel of the LORD. ‘Bitterly
curse her inhabitants; for they did not come to help the LORD, to help the LORD against the mighty.’
He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly
dish.
He asked for water, and she gave him milk. In a magnificent
bowl she brought him
curds.
And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and
trode the grapes, and made
merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and
cursed Abimelech.
And after they had gone out into the fields, gathered grapes from their vineyards, and
trodden them, they held a festival and went into the house of their god; and as they
ate and
drank, they
cursed Abimelech.
And all the evil of the men of
Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the
curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
And God also brought all the wickedness of the men of
Shechem back upon their own heads. So the
curse of Jotham son of Jerubbaal came upon them.
And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my son.
said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a
curse—I have the silver here with me; I took it.” Then his mother said, “Blessed be my son by the LORD!”
Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have
sworn, saying,
Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.
But we cannot give them our daughters as wives.” For the Israelites had
sworn, “
Cursed is he who gives a wife to a
Benjamite.”
And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had
adjured the people, saying,
Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be
avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
Now the men of Israel were in distress that day, for Saul had placed the troops under an oath, saying, “
Cursed is the man who eats any food before evening, before I have taken
vengeance on my enemies.” So none of the troops tasted any food.
Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying,
Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were
faint.
Then one of the soldiers told him, “Your father bound the troops with a solemn oath, saying, ‘
Cursed is the man who eats food
today.’ That is why the people are
faint.”
“Am I a dog,” he said to David, “that you come at me with sticks?” And the
Philistine cursed David by his gods.
Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have
stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men,
cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from
abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.
Now please, may my lord the king hear the words of his servant: If the LORD has
stirred you up against me, then may He accept an offering. But if men have done it, may they be
cursed in the presence of the LORD! For
today they have driven me away from sharing in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’
That the king said unto
Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within
curtains.
he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of
Gera: he came forth, and
cursed still as he came.
As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the family of the house of Saul was just coming out. His name was Shimei son of
Gera, and as he approached, he kept
yelling out
curses.
And thus said Shimei when he
cursed, Come out, come out, thou
bloody man, and thou man of
Belial:
And as he
yelled curses, Shimei said, “Get out, get out, you worthless man of
bloodshed!
Then said
Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog
curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
Then
Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog
curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head!”
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him
curse, because the LORD hath said unto him,
Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
But the king replied, “What have I to do with you, O sons of Zeruiah? If he
curses me because the LORD told him, ‘
Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why did you do this?’”
And David said to
Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my
bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this
Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him
curse; for the LORD hath
bidden him.
Then David said to
Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son, my own flesh and blood, seeks my life. How much more, then, this
Benjamite! Leave him alone and let him
curse me, for the LORD has told him so.
It may be that the LORD will look on mine
affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his
cursing this day.
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and
cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
So David and his men proceeded along the road as Shimei went along the ridge of the hill opposite him. As Shimei went, he
yelled curses, threw stones, and
flung dust at David.
And honey, and butter, and sheep, and
cheese of
kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is
hungry, and
weary, and
thirsty, in the wilderness.
honey,
curds, sheep, and
cheese from the
herd for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become
hungry, exhausted, and
thirsty in the wilderness.”
But
Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he
cursed the LORD’S
anointed?
But
Abishai son of Zeruiah said, “Shouldn’t Shimei be put to death for this, because he
cursed the LORD’s
anointed?”
And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of
Gera, a
Benjamite of Bahurim, which
cursed me with a
grievous curse in the day when I went to
Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I
sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
Keep an eye on Shimei the son of
Gera, the
Benjamite from Bahurim who is with you. He called down bitter
curses against me on the day I went to
Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I
swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
And set two men, sons of
Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou
didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.
But seat two scoundrels opposite him and have them
testify, ‘You have
cursed both God and the king!’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”
And there came in two men, children of
Belial, and sat before him: and the men of
Belial witnessed against him, even against
Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying,
Naboth did
blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
And the two scoundrels came in and sat opposite
Naboth, and these men
testified against him before the people, saying, “
Naboth has
cursed both God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and
cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and
tare forty and two children of them.
Then he turned around, looked at them, and called down a
curse on them in the name of the LORD. Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods and
mauled forty-two of the boys.
And she said unto her
mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his
leprosy.
She said to her
mistress, “If only my master would go to the prophet who is in Samaria, he would
cure him of his
leprosy.”
And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have
therewith sent
Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his
leprosy.
And the letter that he took to the king of Israel stated: “With this letter I am sending my servant
Naaman, so that you may
cure him of his
leprosy.”
And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man
doth send unto me to recover a man of his
leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
When the king of Israel read the letter, he
tore his clothes and asked, “Am I God, killing and giving life, that this man expects me to
cure a
leper? Surely you can see that he is seeking a quarrel with me!”
But
Naaman was
wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the
leper.
But
Naaman went away
angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the spot to
cure my
leprosy.
And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this
cursed woman, and
bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.
Then
Jehu went in and
ate and
drank. “Take care of this
cursed woman,” he said, “and
bury her, for she was the daughter of a king.”
Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled
thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a
desolation and a
curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and
wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
because your heart was tender and you humbled
yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its people, that they would become a
desolation and a
curse, and because you have
torn your clothes and
wept before Me, I have heard you,’ declares the LORD.
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to
Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under
curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
that this is what the LORD says: I am about to bring
calamity on this place and on its people, according to all the
curses written in the book that has been read in the presence of the king of Judah,
They
clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a
curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
hereby join with their noble brothers and commit themselves with a
sworn oath to follow the Law of God given through His servant Moses and to carefully obey all the commandments, ordinances, and statutes of the LORD our Lord.
Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but
hired Balaam against them, that he should
curse them:
howbeit our God turned the
curse into a blessing.
because they had not met the Israelites with food and water, but had
hired Balaam to call down a
curse against them (although our God had turned the
curse into a blessing).
And I
contended with them, and
cursed them, and
smote certain of them, and
plucked off their hair, and made them
swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for
yourselves.
I
rebuked them and called down
curses on them. I beat some of these men and pulled out their hair. Then I made them take an oath before God and said, “You must not give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters as wives for your sons or for
yourselves!
And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and
sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have
sinned, and
cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
And when the days of feasting were over, Job would send for his children to
purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have
sinned and
cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will
curse thee to thy face.
But stretch out Your hand and strike all that he has, and he will surely
curse You to Your face.”
But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will
curse thee to thy face.
But stretch out Your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely
curse You to Your face.”
Then Job’s wife said to him, “Do you still retain your
integrity?
Curse God and die!”
After this opened Job his mouth, and
cursed his day.
After this, Job opened his mouth and
cursed the day of his birth.
I have seen a
fool taking root, but suddenly his house was
cursed.
Did You not pour me out like milk, and
curdle me like
cheese?
He is swift as the waters; their portion is
cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
They are but
foam on the surface of the water; their portion of the land is
cursed, so that no one turns toward their vineyards.
Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a
curse to his soul.
I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking for his life with a
curse—
His mouth is full of
cursing and
deceit and
fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
For such as be blessed of him shall
inherit the earth; and they that be
cursed of him shall be cut off.
Surely those He blesses will
inherit the land, but the
cursed will be destroyed.
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for
cursing and lying which they speak.
By the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be
trapped in their pride, in the
curses and lies they utter.
