And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with
vermilion,
And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal
furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the fire.
And I will set My
jealous rage against you, and they will deal with you in
fury. They will cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by fire.
And
furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a
messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou
didst wash
thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst
thyself with ornaments,
Furthermore, you sisters sent messengers for men who came from
afar; and behold, when they arrived, you bathed for them, painted your eyes, and adorned
yourself with
jewelry.
That it might cause
fury to come up to take
vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
In order to
stir up wrath and take
vengeance, I have placed her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.’
And I will lay my
vengeance upon
Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in
Edom according to mine anger and according to my
fury; and they shall know my
vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.
I will take My
vengeance on
Edom by the hand of My people Israel, and they will deal with
Edom according to My anger and wrath. Then they will know My
vengeance, declares the Lord GOD.’
And I will pour my
fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.
Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my
fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen:
Therefore,
prophesy concerning the land of Israel and tell the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I have spoken in My burning zeal because you have
endured the reproach of the nations.
Wherefore I poured my
fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols
wherewith they had
polluted it:
So I poured out My wrath upon them because of the blood they had shed on the land, and because they had
defiled it with their idols.
And it shall come to pass at the same time when
Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my
fury shall come up in my face.
Now on that day when
Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, My wrath will
flare up.
For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was
straitened more than the lowest and the
middlemost from the ground.
For they were arranged in three stories, and unlike the courts, they had no pillars. So the upper chambers were set back further than the lower and middle floors.
For this cause the king was
angry and very
furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
This
response made the king so
furious with anger that he gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the
blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king.
Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of
fury, and the form of his
visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the
furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated.
At this,
Nebuchadnezzar was filled with
rage, and the expression on his face changed toward
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego. He gave orders to heat the
furnace seven times hotter than usual,
And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning
fiery furnace.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up, wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
Therefore because the king’s commandment was
urgent, and the
furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire
slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego.
The king’s command was so
urgent and the
furnace so hot that the
fiery flames killed the men who carried up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego.
And these three men,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning
fiery furnace, and spake, and said,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come
hither. Then
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his power.
He came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and
rushed at him with
furious power.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
But
tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great
fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
But news from the east and the north will
alarm him, and he will go out with great
fury to destroy many and
devote them to destruction.
The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary stones; I will pour out My
fury upon them like water.
They have spoken words,
swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as
hemlock in the
furrows of the field.
They speak mere words; with false oaths they make covenants. So judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of a field.
It is in my desire that I should
chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two
furrows.
I will not
execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
I will not
execute the full
fury of My anger; I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim. For I am God and not man— the Holy One among you— and I will not come in wrath.
Is there iniquity in
Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in
Gilgal;
yea, their altars are as heaps in the
furrows of the fields.
Is there iniquity in
Gilead? They will surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in
Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of stones in the
furrows of the field.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of
Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all
pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of
Edom, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and
stifled all
compassion; his anger
raged continually, and his
fury flamed
incessantly.
That strengtheneth the
spoiled against the strong, so that the
spoiled shall come against the fortress.
But let man and beast be covered with
sackcloth, and cry
mightily unto God:
yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
Furthermore, let both man and beast be covered with
sackcloth, and have
everyone call out earnestly to God. Let each one turn from his evil ways and from the violence in his hands.
I will take
vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed Me.”
Who can stand before his
indignation? and who can
abide in the fierceness of his anger? his
fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
Take ye the
spoil of silver, take the
spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant
furniture.
“
Plunder the silver!
Plunder the gold!” There is no end to the
treasure, an abundance of every precious thing.
You marched across the earth with
fury; You
threshed the nations in wrath.
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort
Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
Proclaim further that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort
Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes from which the golden oil pours?”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was
jealous for
Zion with great jealousy, and I was
jealous for her with great
fury.
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an
oven; and all the proud,
yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be
stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a
furnace, when all the
arrogant and every
evildoer will be
stubble; the day is coming when I will set them
ablaze,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Not a root or branch will be left to them.”
Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to
morrow is cast into the
oven, shall he not much more
clothe you, O ye of little faith?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here
today and
tomorrow is thrown into the
furnace, will He not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith?
And shall cast them into a
furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and
gnashing of teeth.
And shall cast them into the
furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and
gnashing of teeth.
So those servants went out into the
highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the
wedding was
furnished with guests.
So the servants went out into the streets and gathered
everyone they could find, both evil and good, and the
wedding hall was filled with guests.
And no man was able to answer him a word, neither
durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
No one was able to answer a word, and from that day on no one
dared to question Him any
further.
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken
blasphemy; what
further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his
blasphemy.
At this, the high priest
tore his clothes and declared, “He has
blasphemed! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the
blasphemy.
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any
further?
While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
And when Jesus saw that he answered
discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that
durst ask him any question.
When Jesus saw that the man had answered wisely, He said, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one
dared to question Him any
further.
And he will
shew you a large upper room
furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
At this, the high priest
tore his clothes and declared, “Why do we need any more witnesses?
If then God so
clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to
morrow is cast into the
oven; how much more will he
clothe you, O ye of little faith?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here
today and
tomorrow is thrown into the
furnace, how much more will He
clothe you, O you of little faith!
And after that they
durst not ask him any question at all.
And they did not
dare to question Him any
further.
And he shall
shew you a large upper room
furnished: there make ready.
And he will show you a large upper room, already furnished. Make preparations there.”
And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
“Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”
And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called
Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about
threescore furlongs.
That same day two of them were going to a village called
Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.
And they drew
nigh unto the village,
whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone
further.
As they approached the village where they were headed, He seemed to be going farther.
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Furthermore, the Father judges no one, but has assigned all judgment to the Son,
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty
furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing
nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea—and they were
terrified.
Now
Bethany was
nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen
furlongs off:
Now
Bethany was near Jerusalem, a little less than two miles away,
But that it spread no
further among the people, let us straitly
threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
But to keep this message from spreading any
further among the people, we must
warn them not to speak to
anyone in this name.”
So when they had
further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might
punish them, because of the people: for all men
glorified God for that which was done.
After
further threats they let them go. They could not find a way to
punish them, because all the people were
glorifying God for what had happened.
And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded
further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of
unleavened bread.)
And seeing that this pleased the Jews, Herod proceeded to seize Peter during the Feast of
Unleavened Bread.
And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and
Sidon: but they came with one
accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s
chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was
nourished by the king’s country.
Now Herod was in a
furious dispute with the people of Tyre and
Sidon, and they
convened before him. Having secured the support of Blastus, the king’s
chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their region depended on the king’s country for food.
Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and
further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath
polluted this holy place.
crying out, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches everywhere against our people and against our law and against this place.
Furthermore, he has brought Greeks into the temple and
defiled this holy place.”
Notwithstanding, that I be not
further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy
clemency a few words.
But in order not to burden you any
further, I
beg your
indulgence to hear us briefly.
I frequently had them punished in the synagogues, and I tried to make them
blaspheme. In my
raging fury against them, I even went to foreign cities to
persecute them.
And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
They took
soundings and found that the water was twenty fathoms deep. Going a little farther, they took another set of
soundings that read fifteen fathoms.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a
depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
But now that there are no
further opportunities for me in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to visit you,
Now when I went to
Troas to
preach the gospel of Christ and a door stood open for me in the Lord,
But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the
furtherance of the gospel;
Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel.
And having this confidence, I know that I shall
abide and continue with you all for your
furtherance and joy of faith;
Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
Furthermore then we
beseech you, brethren, and
exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Finally, brothers, we ask and
encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us. This is how you already live, so you should do so all the more.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the
snare of the devil.
Furthermore, he must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the
snare of the devil.
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
But they will not advance much
further. For just like
Jannes and Jambres, their folly will be plain to
everyone.
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
so that the man of God may be complete, fully
equipped for every good work.
If therefore perfection were by the
Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what
further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Now if perfection could have been attained through the
Levitical priesthood (for on this basis the people received the law), why was there still need for another priest to appear—one in the order of
Melchizedek and not in the order of Aaron?
For if we sin
wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
If we
deliberately go on
sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no
further sacrifice for sins remains,
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?
And the sound of a
trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
to a
trumpet blast or to a voice that made its hearers
beg that no
further word be spoken.
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
His feet were like polished bronze refined in a
furnace, and His voice was like the
roar of many waters.
But unto you I say, and unto the rest in
Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of
Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
But I say to the rest of you in
Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned the so-called deep things of
Satan: I will place no
further burden upon you.
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great
furnace; and the sun and the air were
darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
The star opened the pit of the
Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great
furnace, and the sun and the air were
darkened by the smoke from the pit.
Therefore
rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Therefore
rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! But
woe to the earth and the sea; with great
fury the devil has come down to you, knowing he has only a short time.”
And the winepress was
trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred
furlongs.
And the winepress was
trodden outside the city, and the blood that flowed from it rose as high as the bridles of the horses for a distance of 1,600
stadia.
And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in
remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations
collapsed. And God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup of the wine of the
fury of His wrath.
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God.
And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron
scepter. He treads the winepress of the
fury of the wrath of God the
Almighty.
And the city lieth
foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand
furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
The city lies
foursquare, with its width the same as its length. And he measured the city with the rod, and all its dimensions were equal—12,000
stadia in length and width and height.
And that those wicked workers proceed no
further to the
annoyance of kings,
So all his people and his armies obey him:
furthermore he lieth down, he eateth and drinketh, and taketh his rest:
And also corn, salt, wine, and oil, and that continually every year without
further question, according as the priests that be in Jerusalem shall
signify to be daily spent:
So I proceeded to speak further unto her, and said,
But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt,
