But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
And each man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, with no one to
frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken.
And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall
tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against
him seven
shepherds, and eight principal men.
And He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land and tramples our citadels. We will raise against it seven
shepherds, even eight leaders of men.
O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what
Balaam the son of Beor answered
him from
Shittim unto
Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.
My people, remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what
Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from
Shittim to
Gilgal, so that you may acknowledge the righteousness of the LORD.’”
Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before
him with burnt offerings, with
calves of a year old?
With what shall I come before the LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to
Him with burnt offerings, with year-old
calves?
I will bear the
indignation of the LORD, because I have
sinned against
him, until he
plead my cause, and
execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
Because I have
sinned against
Him, I must
endure the
rage of the LORD, until He argues my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see His righteousness.
According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I
shew unto
him marvellous things.
As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show My wonders.
The mountains
quake at
him, and the hills
melt, and the earth is burned at his presence,
yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
The mountains
quake before
Him, and the hills
melt away; the earth trembles at His presence— the world and all its dwellers.
Who can stand before his
indignation? and who can
abide in the fierceness of his anger? his
fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by
him.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
The LORD is good, a
stronghold in the day of distress; He cares for those who trust in
Him.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of
him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly cut off.
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Look at the proud one; his soul is not upright— but the righteous will live by faith—
Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as
hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto
him all nations, and heapeth unto
him all people:
and wealth indeed betrays
him. He is an
arrogant man never at rest. He enlarges his
appetite like
Sheol, and like Death, he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to
himself and collects all the peoples as his own.
Shall not all these take up a parable against
him, and a
taunting proverb against
him, and say,
Woe to
him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to
him that ladeth
himself with thick clay!
Will not all of these take up a
taunt against
him, speaking with
mockery and
derision: ‘
Woe to
him who amasses what is not his and makes
himself rich with many loans! How long will this go on?’
Woe to
him that coveteth an evil
covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
Woe to
him who builds his house by unjust gain, to place his nest on high and escape the hand of
disaster!
Woe to
him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity!
Woe to
him who builds a city with
bloodshed and establishes a town by iniquity!
Woe unto
him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy
bottle to
him, and makest
him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
Woe to
him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin until they are
drunk, in order to
gaze at their nakedness!
Woe unto
him that saith to the wood,
Awake; to the
dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
Woe to
him who says to wood, ‘
Awake!’ or to silent stone, ‘Arise!’ Can it give guidance? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet there is no breath in it at all.”
But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
But the LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.
Before
him went the
pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
Plague went before Him, and fever followed in His steps.
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine
anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck.
Selah.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people, to save Your
anointed. You
crushed the head of the house of the wicked and
stripped him from head to
toe.
Selah And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
and those who turn back from following the LORD, neither seeking the LORD nor inquiring of Him.”
The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will
famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship
him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
The LORD will be
terrifying to them when He starves all the gods of the earth. Then the nations of every shore will bow in worship to
Him, each in its own place.
For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
For then I will restore pure lips to the peoples, that all may call upon the name of the LORD and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.
Then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of
Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent
him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
Then
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet
Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent
him. So the people feared the LORD.
I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the
myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind
him were there red horses,
speckled, and white.
I looked out into the night and saw a man riding on a red horse. He was standing among the
myrtle trees in the hollow, and behind
him were red,
sorrel, and white horses.
And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him
And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
and said to
him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and
livestock within it.
Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy
habitation.
Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has
roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and
Satan standing at his right hand to resist
him.
Then the angel showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, with
Satan standing at his right hand to
accuse him.
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before
him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from
him. And unto
him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before
him, “Take off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
And I said, Let them set a fair
mitre upon his head. So they set a fair
mitre upon his head, and clothed
him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
Then I said, “Let them put a clean
turban on his head.” So a clean
turban was placed on his head, and they clothed
him, as the angel of the LORD stood by.
Then answered I, and said unto
him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the
candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
Then I asked the angel, “What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?”
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes from which the golden oil pours?”
I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
thief, and into the house of
him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall
consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
I will send it out, declares the LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the
thief and the house of
him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and stones.”
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
For before these days there was no
hire for man, nor any
hire for beast; neither was there any peace to
him that went out or came in because of the
affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.
For before those days neither man nor beast received wages, nor was there safety from the enemy for
anyone who came or went, for I had turned every man against his
neighbor.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the
skirt of
him that is a
Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue will
tightly grasp the
robe of a
Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
And I will
encamp about mine house because of the army, because of
him that passeth by, and because of
him that returneth: and no
oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
But I will camp around My house because of an army, because of those who march to and
fro, and never again will an
oppressor overrun My people, for now I keep watch with My own eyes.
Out of
him came forth the corner, out of
him the
nail, out of
him the battle bow, out of
him every
oppressor together.
The cornerstone will come from Judah, the tent
peg from
him, as well as the battle bow and every ruler together.
The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
This is the burden of the word of the LORD concerning Israel. Thus declares the LORD, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth, who forms the spirit of man within him:
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall
mourn for
him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for
him, as one that is in bitterness for his
firstborn.
Then I will pour out on the house of David and on the people of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and prayer, and they will look on Me, the One they have pierced. They will
mourn for
Him as one mourns for an only child, and
grieve bitterly for
Him as one grieves for a
firstborn son.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto
him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust
him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore
him will say to
him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore
him will
pierce him through.
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your chest?’ he will answer, ‘These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
And ye shall
flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal:
yea, ye shall
flee, like as ye fled from before the
earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
You will
flee by My mountain valley, for it will extend to Azal. You will
flee as you fled from the
earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with
Him.
My covenant was with
him of life and peace; and I gave them to
him for the fear
wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
“My covenant with
him was one of life and peace, which I gave to
him; it called for reverence, and he
revered Me and stood in
awe of My name.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
As for the man who does this, may the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob
everyone who is
awake and aware—even if he brings an offering to the LORD of Hosts.
Ye have
wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we
wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
You have
wearied the LORD with your words; yet you ask, “How have we
wearied Him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the sight of the LORD, and in them He delights,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD
hearkened, and heard it, and a book of
remembrance was written before
him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
At that time those who feared the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD
listened and heard them. So a
scroll of
remembrance was written before
Him regarding those who feared the LORD and honored His name.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will
spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth
him.
“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My
treasured possession. And I will
spare them as a man spares his own son who serves
him.
Then shall ye return, and
discern between the righteous and the wicked, between
him that serveth God and
him that serveth
him not.
So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto
him in
Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
“Remember the law of My servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances I commanded
him for all Israel at
Horeb.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
But after he had
pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to
him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name
Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
“Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call
Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had
bidden him, and took unto
him his wife:
When Joseph
woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded
him, and embraced Mary as his wife.
And knew her not till she had brought forth her
firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
asking, “Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
And they said unto
him, In
Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
“In
Bethlehem in
Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
And he sent them to
Bethlehem, and said, Go and search
diligently for the young child; and when ye have found
him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship
him also.
And sending them to
Bethlehem, he said: “Go and search carefully for the Child, and when you find
Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship
Him.”
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped
him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto
him gifts; gold, and
frankincense, and
myrrh.
On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped
Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented
Him with gifts of gold and
frankincense and
myrrh.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and
flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy
him.
When the
Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and
flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill
Him.”
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”
Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
People went out to
him from Jerusalem and all
Judea and the whole region around the Jordan.
But John
forbad him, saying, I have need to be
baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
But John tried to prevent
Him, saying, “I need to be
baptized by You, and do You come to me?”
And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
“Let it be so now,” Jesus replied. “It is fitting for us to
fulfill all righteousness in this way.” Then John permitted
Him.
And Jesus, when he was
baptized, went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto
him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove, and lighting upon
him:
As soon as Jesus was
baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove and resting on
Him.
And when the
tempter came to
him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
The
tempter came to
Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Then the devil taketh
him up into the holy city, and setteth
him on a
pinnacle of the temple,
Then the devil took
Him to the holy city and set
Him on the
pinnacle of the temple.
And saith unto
him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus said unto
him, It is written again, Thou shalt not
tempt the Lord thy God.
Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
And saith unto
him, All these things will I give thee, if thou
wilt fall down and worship me.
“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.”
Then saith Jesus unto
him, Get thee hence,
Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and
him only shalt thou serve.
“Away from Me,
Satan!” Jesus declared. “For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve
Him only.’”
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Then the devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him.
And they
straightway left their nets, and followed
him.
And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto
him all sick people that were taken with
divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the
palsy; and he
healed them.
News about
Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to
Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the
demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the
paralyzed—and He
healed them.
And there followed
him great multitudes of people from
Galilee, and from
Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
The large crowds that followed
Him came from
Galilee, the
Decapolis, Jerusalem,
Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him,
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with
him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but
whosoever shall
smite thee on thy right
cheek, turn to
him the other also.
But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right
cheek, turn to
him the other also;
And if any man will
sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let
him have thy
cloke also.
if someone wants to
sue you and take your
tunic, let
him have your
cloak as well;
and if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
Give to
him that asketh thee, and from
him that would
borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to
borrow from you.
That thine
alms may be in secret: and thy Father which
seeth in secret
himself shall reward thee openly.
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
For
everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to
him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Or if he asks for a fish, will give
him a
snake?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will
liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Therefore
everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.
And, behold, there came a
leper and worshipped
him, saying, Lord, if thou
wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Suddenly a
leper came and
knelt before
Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched
him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his
leprosy was
cleansed.
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his
leprosy was
cleansed.
And Jesus saith unto
him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way,
shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Then Jesus
instructed him, “See that you don’t tell
anyone. But go, show
yourself to the priest and offer the gift prescribed by Moses, as a testimony to them.”
