And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the
remnant of the
Amorites; and the children of Israel had
sworn unto them: and Saul sought to
slay them in
his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
At this, David summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not Israelites, but a
remnant of the
Amorites. The Israelites had taken an oath concerning them, but in
his zeal for Israel and Judah, Saul had sought to kill them.)
And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
The Gibeonites said to him, “We need no silver or gold from Saul or
his house, nor should you put to death
anyone in Israel for us.” “Whatever you ask, I will do for you,” he replied.
Let seven men of
his sons be delivered unto us, and we will
hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
let seven of
his male descendants be delivered to us so that we may
hang them before the LORD at Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of the LORD.” “I will give them to you,” said the king.
And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of
Jonathan his son from the men of
Jabesh-
gilead, which had
stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had
hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in
Gilboa:
he went and took the bones of Saul and
his son
Jonathan from the men of
Jabesh-
gilead, who had
stolen them from the public square of Beth-shan where the Philistines had hung the bodies after they had struck down Saul at
Gilboa.
And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of
Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were
hanged.
So David had the bones of Saul and
his son
Jonathan brought from there, along with the bones of those who had been
hanged.
And the bones of Saul and
Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the
sepulchre of
Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
And they buried the bones of Saul and
his son
Jonathan in Zela in the land of Benjamin, in the tomb of Saul’s father
Kish. After they had done everything the king had commanded, God answered their prayers for the land.
Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and
his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed
faint.
Once again the Philistines
waged war against Israel, and David and
his servants went down and fought against the Philistines; but David became exhausted.
But
Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and
smote the
Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David
sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou
quench not the light of Israel.
But
Abishai son of Zeruiah came to
his aid, struck the
Philistine, and killed him. Then David’s men
swore to him, “You must never again go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel may not be
extinguished.”
These four were born to the
giant in
Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of
his servants.
So these four descendants of Rapha in
Gath fell at the hands of David and
his servants.
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
And David
sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all
his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and
cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of
his temple, and my cry did enter into
his ears.
In my distress I called upon the LORD; I
cried out to my God. And from
His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help reached
His ears.
There went up a smoke out of
his nostrils, and fire out of
his mouth
devoured: coals were
kindled by it.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.
Through the brightness before him were coals of fire
kindled.
From the brightness of
His presence coals of fire
blazed forth.
The LORD
thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered
his voice.
The LORD
thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.
He shot
His arrows and scattered the foes; He
hurled lightning and routed them.
And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the
rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of
his nostrils.
The channels of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the world were exposed at the
rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of
His nostrils.
For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.
Therefore the LORD hath
recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in
his eye sight.
So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in His sight.
As for God,
his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all them that trust in him.
As for God,
His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is
flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
He is the tower of salvation for
his king: and sheweth mercy to
his anointed, unto David, and to
his seed for
evermore.
Great salvation He brings to
His king. He shows loving devotion to
His anointed, to David and
his descendants
forever.”
The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; His word was on my tongue.
These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up
his spear against eight hundred, whom he
slew at one time.
These are the names of David’s mighty men: Josheb-basshebeth the Tahchemonite was chief of the Three. He
wielded his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed at one time.
He arose, and
smote the Philistines until
his hand was
weary, and
his hand
clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to
spoil.
but
Eleazar stood
his ground and struck the Philistines until
his hand grew
weary and
stuck to
his sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. Then the troops returned to him, but only to
plunder the dead.
But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and
slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field, defended it, and struck down the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.
And
Abishai, the brother of
Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up
his spear against three hundred, and
slew them, and had the name among three.
Now
Abishai, the brother of
Joab and son of Zeruiah, was chief of the Three, and he lifted
his spear against three hundred men, killed them, and won a name along with the Three.
And he
slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a
spear in
his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and
plucked the
spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and
slew him with
his own
spear.
He also killed an Egyptian, a huge man. Although the Egyptian had a
spear in
his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club,
snatched the
spear from
his hand, and killed the Egyptian with
his own
spear.
He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
He was most honored among the Thirty, but he did not become one of the Three. And David appointed him over his guard.
For the king said to
Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.
So the king said to
Joab the commander of
his army, who was with him, “Go now throughout the tribes of Israel from
Dan to
Beersheba and register the troops, so that I may know their number.”
And David’s heart
smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have
sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I
beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very
foolishly.
After David had numbered the troops,
his conscience was
stricken and he said to the LORD, “I have
sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, O LORD, I
beg You to take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very
foolishly.”
And David said unto
Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for
his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
David answered
Gad, “I am deeply distressed. Please, let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for
His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.”
And when the angel stretched out
his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
But when the angel stretched out
his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented from the
calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was by the
threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
When Araunah looked out and saw the king and his servants coming toward him, he went out and bowed facedown before the king.
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to
his servant? And David said, To
buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
“Why has my lord the king come to
his servant?” Araunah said. “To
buy your
threshing floor,” David replied, “that I may build an altar to the LORD, so that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
Wherefore
his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her
cherish him, and let her lie in thy
bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
So his servants said to him, “Let us search for a young virgin for our lord the king, to attend to him and care for him and lie by his side to keep him warm.”
And
his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and
his mother bare him after
Absalom.
(
His father had never once
reprimanded him by saying, “Why do you act this way?” Adonijah was also very handsome, born next after
Absalom.)
And Adonijah
slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all
his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:
And Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and
fattened calves near the stone of Zoheleth, which is next to En-rogel. He invited all
his royal brothers and all the men of Judah who were servants of the king.
But
Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon
his brother, he called not.
But he did not
invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or
his brother Solomon.
And Bath-
sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and
Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
So Bathsheba went to see the king in
his bedroom. Since the king was very old,
Abishag the Shunammite was serving him.
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
Otherwise, when my lord the king rests with his fathers, I and my son Solomon will be counted as criminals.”
And they told the king, saying, Behold
Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with
his face to the ground.
So the king was told, “
Nathan the prophet is here.” And
Nathan went in and bowed facedown before the king.
As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
Just as the LORD was with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon and make his throne even greater than that of my lord King David.”
And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when
Joab heard the sound of the
trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an
uproar?
Now Adonijah and all
his guests were finishing their feast when they heard the sound of the ram’s horn. “Why is the city in such a loud
uproar?” asked
Joab.
And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.
Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.
And moreover the king’s servants came to
bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make
his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
The king’s servants have also gone to
congratulate our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon more famous than your own name, and may He make
his throne greater than your throne.’ And the king has bowed in worship on
his bed,
And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
At this, all the guests of Adonijah arose in terror and scattered.
And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon
swear unto me to day that he will not
slay his servant with the sword.
It was reported to Solomon: “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon, and he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon first
swear to me not to put
his servant to the sword.’”
And Solomon said, If he will
shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.
And Solomon replied, “If he is a man of character, not a single hair of his will fall to the ground. But if evil is found in him, he will die.”
Now the days of David drew
nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon
his son, saying,
As the time drew near for David to die, he charged his son Solomon,
And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in
his ways, to keep
his statutes, and
his commandments, and
his judgments, and
his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest
prosper in all that thou doest, and
whithersoever thou turnest
thyself:
And keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in
His ways and to keep
His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may
prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
That the LORD may continue
his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take
heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
and so that the LORD may
fulfill His promise to me: ‘If your descendants take
heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
Moreover thou knowest also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon
his girdle that was about
his loins, and in
his shoes that were on
his feet.
Moreover, you know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the blood of war. He
stained with the blood of war the belt around
his waist and the
sandals on
his feet.
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not
his hoar head go down to the grave in peace.
So act according to your wisdom, and do not let
his gray head go down to
Sheol in peace.
Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but
his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.
Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You know what you ought to do to him to bring
his gray head down to
Sheol in blood.”
So David
slept with
his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.
So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.
And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign:
howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was
his from the LORD.
“You know that the
kingship was mine,” he said. “All Israel expected that I should reign, but the
kingship has turned to my brother, for it has come to him from the LORD.
Bath-
sheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on
his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on
his right hand.
So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king stood up to
greet her, bowed to her, and sat down on
his throne. Then the king had a throne brought for
his mother, who sat down at
his right hand.
And she said, Let
Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
So Bathsheba said, “Let
Abishag the Shunammite be given to your brother Adonijah as
his wife.”
And king Solomon answered and said unto
his mother, And why
dost thou ask
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for
Abiathar the priest, and for
Joab the son of Zeruiah.
King Solomon answered
his mother, “Why do you request
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my older brother, you might as well request the kingdom for him and for
Abiathar the priest and for
Joab son of Zeruiah!”
Then king Solomon
sware by the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against
his own life.
Then King Solomon
swore by the LORD: “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at the expense of
his life.
And the LORD shall return
his blood upon
his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring
his bloodshed back upon
his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of
Joab, and upon the head of
his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon
his seed, and upon
his house, and upon
his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.
Their blood will come back upon the heads of
Joab and
his descendants
forever; but for David,
his descendants,
his house, and
his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD
forever.”
So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and
slew him: and he was buried in
his own house in the wilderness.
So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down
Joab, and killed him. He was buried at
his own home in the wilderness.
And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in
his room over the host: and
Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of
Abiathar.
And the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in
Joab’s place over the army, and he appointed
Zadok the priest in
Abiathar’s place.
And Shimei arose, and
saddled his ass, and went to
Gath to Achish to seek
his servants: and Shimei went, and brought
his servants from
Gath.
So Shimei
saddled his donkey and set out to Achish at
Gath in search of
his slaves, and he brought them back from
Gath.
And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
Later, Solomon formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his palace and the house of the LORD, as well as the wall around Jerusalem.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
And Solomon loved the LORD and walked in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
Solomon replied, “You have shown much loving devotion to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. And You have maintained this loving devotion by giving him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
And Solomon
awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all
his servants.
Then Solomon
awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he held a feast for all
his servants.
Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise
slay it: she is the mother thereof.
Then the king gave
his ruling: “Give the living
baby to the first woman. By no means should you kill him; she is
his mother.”
And these were the princes which he had;
Azariah the son of
Zadok the priest,
and these were
his chief officials:
Azariah son of
Zadok was the priest;
And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided
victuals for the king and
his household: each man
his month in a year made provision.
Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel to provide food for the king and his household. Each one would arrange provisions for one month of the year,
The son of Abinadab, in all the region of
Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:
Ben-abinadab in Naphath-
dor (Taphath, a daughter of Solomon, was
his wife);
And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
And Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These kingdoms offered tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.
And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under
his vine and under
his fig tree, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, all the days of Solomon.
Throughout the days of Solomon, Judah and Israel dwelt securely from
Dan to
Beersheba, each man under
his own vine and
his own fig tree.
And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for
his chariots, and twelve thousand
horsemen.
Solomon had 4,000 stalls for
his chariot horses and 12,000 horses.
And those officers provided
victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in
his month: they lacked nothing.
Each month the governors in turn provided food for King Solomon and all who came to his table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
Barley also and straw for the horses and
dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to
his charge.
Each one also brought to the required place their quotas of barley and straw for the
chariot horses and other horses.
For he was wiser than all men; than
Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and
his fame was in all nations round about.
He was wiser than all men—wiser than
Ethan the Ezrahite, and wiser than Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And
his fame spread throughout the surrounding nations.
And he spake three thousand
proverbs: and
his songs were a thousand and five.
Solomon composed three thousand
proverbs, and
his songs numbered a thousand and five.
And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
So men of all nations came to
listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the earth, who had heard of
his wisdom.
And
Hiram king of Tyre sent
his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had
anointed him king in the room of
his father: for
Hiram was ever a lover of David.
Now when
Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been
anointed king in
his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for
Hiram had always been a friend of David.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to the wars
waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD
his God until the LORD had put
his enemies under
his feet.
So
Hiram gave Solomon
cedar trees and
fir trees according to all
his desire.
And Solomon gave
Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to
his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to
Hiram year by year.
and year after year Solomon would provide
Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for
his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.
Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
And in the
eleventh year, in the month
Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
In
his eleventh year and eighth month, the month of
Bul, the temple was finished in every detail and according to every
specification. So he built the temple in seven years.
But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.
Solomon, however, took thirteen years to complete the construction of his entire palace.
And he made a
porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the
porch was before them: and the other pillars and the thick beam were before them.
Solomon made
his colonnade fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, with a
portico in front of it and a
canopy with pillars in front of the
portico.
And
his house where he dwelt had another court within the
porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this
porch.
And the palace where Solomon would live, set further back, was of similar construction. He also made a palace like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had married.
He was a widow’s son of the tribe of
Naphtali, and
his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and
cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all
his work.
He was the son of a widow from the tribe of
Naphtali, and
his father was a man of Tyre, a
craftsman in bronze. Huram had great skill, understanding, and knowledge for every kind of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and carried out all
his work.
And he made a
molten sea, ten cubits from the one
brim to the other: it was round all about, and
his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
He also made the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from
rim to
rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference.
So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the LORD.
So all the work that King Solomon had performed for the house of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the items
his father David had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and the furnishings—and he placed them in the
treasuries of the house of the LORD.
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto
his place, into the
oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
