And Lot lifted up his eyes, and
beheld all the
plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
And Lot looked out and saw that the whole
plain of the Jordan, all the way to Zoar, was well watered like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah.)
Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
So Lot chose the whole
plain of the Jordan for himself and set out toward the east. And
Abram and Lot parted company.
Abram dwelled in the land of
Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the

Canaan, but Lot settled in the cities of the

Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the

Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the
plain of
Mamre the Amorite, brother of

Sodom and
Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the
plain, and

plain, and he saw the smoke rising from the land like smoke from a furnace.

betwixt us, even

recommend that there should now be an oath between us and you. Let us make a covenant with you

These are they that were numbered by Moses and
Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the
plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho.

plains of Moab by Jordan near

On the
plains of Moab by the Jordan across from
Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,
And the LORD spake unto Moses in the
plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho, saying,
Again the LORD spoke to Moses on the
plains of Moab by the Jordan across from
Jericho:
These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the
plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho.
These are the commandments and ordinances that the LORD gave the Israelites through Moses on the
plains of Moab by the Jordan across from

These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the
plain over against the Red sea, between
Paran, and Tophel, and
Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel in the wilderness east of the Jordan—in the Arabah opposite Suph—between
Paran and Tophel,
Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the
Amorites, and unto all the places
nigh thereunto, in the
plain, in the hills, and in the
vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the
Canaanites, and unto
Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the
Amorites; go to all the
neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the foothills, in the Negev, and along the
seacoast to the land of the
Canaanites and to
Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
And when we passed by from our brethren the children of
Esau, which dwelt in
Seir, through the way of the
plain from
Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
So we passed by our brothers, the descendants of
Esau, who live in
Seir. We turned away from the Arabah road, which comes up from
Elath and Ezion-
geber, and traveled along the road of the Wilderness of Moab.
All the cities of the
plain, and all
Gilead, and all
Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
all the cities of the plateau, all of
Gilead, and all of
Bashan as far as the cities of Salecah and Edrei in the kingdom of
Og.
The
plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the
plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdoth-
pisgah eastward.
The Jordan River in the Arabah bordered it from Chinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) with the slopes of
Pisgah to the east.
Namely,
Bezer in the wilderness, in the
plain country, of the Reubenites; and
Ramoth in
Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in
Bashan, of the Manassites.
Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau belonging to the Reubenites,
Ramoth in
Gilead belonging to the Gadites, or Golan in
Bashan belonging to the Manassites.
And all the
plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the
plain, under the springs of
Pisgah.
including all the Arabah on the east side of the Jordan and as far as the Sea of the Arabah, below the slopes of
Pisgah.
Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the
Canaanites, which dwell in the
champaign over against
Gilgal, beside the
plains of Moreh?
Are not these mountains across the Jordan, west of the road toward the
sunset, in the land of the
Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite
Gilgal near the Oak of Moreh?
And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
And you shall write distinctly upon these stones all the words of this law.”
And Moses went up from the
plains of Moab unto the mountain of
Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, that is over against
Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of
Gilead, unto
Dan,
Then Moses went up from the
plains of Moab to Mount
Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, which faces
Jericho. And the LORD showed him the whole land—from
Gilead as far as
Dan,
And the south, and the
plain of the valley of
Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.
the Negev, and the region from the Valley of
Jericho (the City of Palms) all the way to Zoar.
And the children of Israel
wept for Moses in the
plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of
weeping and
mourning for Moses were ended.

weeping and
mourning for Moses came to an end.
That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an
heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the
plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against
Jericho.
the flowing water stood still. It backed up as far
upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite
Jericho.
About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the
plains of
Jericho.
About 40,000 troops armed for battle crossed over before the LORD into the
plains of
Jericho.
And it came to pass, when the king of
Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the
plain; but he
wist not that there were liers in
ambush against him behind the city.
When the king of
Ai saw the Israelites, he
hurried out early in the morning with the men of the city to
engage them in battle at an appointed place overlooking the Arabah. But he did not know that an
ambush had been set up against him behind the city.
And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the
plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of
Dor on the west,
to the kings of the north in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Chinnereth, in the foothills, and in Naphoth-
dor to the west;
So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of
Goshen, and the valley, and the
plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
So Joshua took this entire region: the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of
Goshen, the western foothills, the Arabah, and the mountains of Israel and their foothills,
Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel
smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river
Arnon unto mount
Hermon, and all the
plain on the east:
Now these are the kings of the land whom the Israelites struck down and whose lands they took beyond the Jordan to the east, from the
Arnon Valley to Mount
Hermon, including all the Arabah eastward:
And from the
plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the
plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Beth-jeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdoth-
pisgah:
as well as the Arabah east of the Sea of Chinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), eastward through Beth-jeshimoth, and southward below the slopes of
Pisgah.
In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the
plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, the
Perizzites, the
Hivites, and the Jebusites:
the hill country, the foothills, the Arabah, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the lands of the
Hittites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and Jebusites):
From Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river
Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the
plain of Medeba unto Dibon;
The area from Aroer on the
rim of the
Arnon Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, the whole plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon,
And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river
Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the
plain by Medeba;
The territory from Aroer on the
rim of the
Arnon Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, to the whole plateau beyond Medeba,
Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the
plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-
baal, and Beth-
baal-meon,
to
Heshbon and all its cities on the plateau, including Dibon, Bamoth-
baal, Beth-
baal-meon,
And all the cities of the
plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the
Amorites, which reigned in
Heshbon, whom Moses
smote with the princes of
Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
all the cities of the plateau and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the
Amorites, who reigned in
Heshbon until Moses killed him and the chiefs of
Midian (Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba), the princes of Sihon who lived in the land.
These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the
plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by
Jericho, eastward.
These were the portions Moses had given them on the
plains of Moab beyond the Jordan, east of
Jericho.
And the LORD was with Judah; and he
drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had
chariots of iron.
The LORD was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the
plains because they had
chariots of iron.
And the
Amorites forced the children of
Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:
The
Amorites forced the Danites into the hill country and did not allow them to come down into the
plain.
Now
Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the
Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the
plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
Now
Heber the Kenite had moved away from the
Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent by the great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.
And Gaal spake again and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.
Then Gaal spoke up again, “Look, people are coming down from the center of the land, and one company is coming by way of the Diviners’ Oak.”
And he
smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the
plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of
Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
With a great blow he
devastated twenty cities from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as
Abel-keramim. So the
Ammonites were subdued before the Israelites.
And there came a man of God unto
Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I
plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house?
Then a man of God came to
Eli and told him, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Did I not clearly
reveal Myself to your father’s house when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh’s house?
Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the
plain of
Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to
Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three
loaves of bread, and another carrying a
bottle of wine:
Then you will go on from there until you come to the Oak of
Tabor. Three men going up to God at
Bethel will meet you there, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three
loaves of bread, and another carrying a skin of wine.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us
plainly that the
asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom,
whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
And Saul replied, “He
assured us that the
donkeys had been found.” But Saul did not tell his uncle what Samuel had said about the
kingship.
And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
So they set out and went to Ziph
ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the Wilderness of Maon in the Arabah south of Jeshimon,
And
Abner and his men walked all that night through the
plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to
Mahanaim.
And all that night
Abner and his men marched through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan, marched all morning, and arrived at
Mahanaim.
For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his
bedchamber, and they
smote him, and
slew him, and
beheaded him, and took his head, and
gat them away through the
plain all night.
They had entered the house while
Ish-bosheth was lying on his bed, and having
stabbed and killed him, they
beheaded him, took his head, and traveled all night by way of the Arabah.
See, I will
tarry in the
plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to
certify me.
See, I will wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”
Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying,
Lodge not this night in the
plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be
swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
Now send quickly and tell David, ‘Do not
spend the night at the fords of the wilderness, but be sure to cross over. Otherwise the king and all the people with him will be
swallowed up.’”
But
howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then
Ahimaaz ran by the way of the
plain, and overran Cushi.
“No matter what, I want to run!” he replied. “Then run!”
Joab told him. So
Ahimaaz ran by way of the
plain and outran the
Cushite.
In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarthan.
The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth and Zarethan.
And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
Meanwhile, the servants of the king of
Aram said to him, “Their gods are gods of the hills. That is why they prevailed over us. Instead, we should fight them on the
plains; surely then we will prevail.
And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and
chariot for
chariot: and we will fight against them in the
plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he
hearkened unto their voice, and did so.
And you must raise an army like the one you have lost—horse for horse and
chariot for
chariot—so we can fight the Israelites on the
plain, where we will surely prevail.” And the king approved their plan and acted accordingly.
He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of
Hamath unto the sea of the
plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant
Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of
Gath-hepher.
This
Jeroboam restored the boundary of Israel from Lebo-
hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word that the LORD, the God of Israel, had spoken through His servant
Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from
Gath-hepher.
And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the
plains of
Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the
plains of
Jericho, and all his army was separated from him.
And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low
plains was
Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was
Joash:
Baal-hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and
sycamore trees in the foothills.
Joash was in charge of the stores of olive oil.
In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredathah.
The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth and Zeredah.
And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low
plains in abundance.
The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the foothills.
Also he built towers in the desert, and
digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the
plains:
husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in
Carmel: for he loved
husbandry.
Since he had much
livestock in the foothills and in the
plain, he built towers in the desert and
dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill country and in the fertile fields.
Nevertheless
Josiah would not turn his face from him, but
disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and
hearkened not unto the words of
Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of
Megiddo.
Josiah, however, did not turn away from him; instead, in order to
engage him in battle, he
disguised himself. He did not
listen to Neco’s words from the mouth of God, but went to fight him on the
Plain of
Megiddo.
The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
The letter you sent us has been translated and read in my presence.
And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.
And next to him, the priests from the surrounding area made repairs.
That
Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the
plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the
plain of Ono.” But they were
planning to
harm me.
And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
The singers were also assembled from the region around Jerusalem, from the villages of the Netophathites,
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path, because of my oppressors.
They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
They are all
plain to the
discerning, and upright to those who find knowledge.
The way of the
slothful man is as an
hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made
plain.
The way of the slacker is like a
hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a
highway.
When he hath made
plain the face thereof,
doth he not cast abroad the
fitches, and
scatter the
cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and
rie in their place?
When he has leveled its surface, does he not
sow caraway and
scatter cumin? He plants wheat in rows and barley in plots, and
rye within its border.
The heart also of the
rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak
plainly.
Every valley shall be
exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the
crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places
plain:
Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground will become smooth, and the
rugged land a
plain.
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.
And people will come from the cities of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the foothills, the hill country, and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and
frankincense, and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.
Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?
Behold, I am against you who dwell above the valley,
atop the rocky plateau— declares the LORD— you who say, “Who can come against us? Who can enter our dwellings?”
And it came to pass, that when
Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the
plain.
When
Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.
But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook
Zedekiah in the
plains of
Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them and overtook
Zedekiah in the
plains of
Jericho. They seized him and brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.
And the
spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the
plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.
The destroyer will move against every city, and not one town will escape. The valley will also be ruined, and the high plain will be destroyed, as the LORD has said.
And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,
Judgment has come upon the high plain— upon Holon, Jahzah, and Mephaath,
Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook
Zedekiah in the
plains of
Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook
Zedekiah in the
plains of
Jericho, and all his army was separated from him.
And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.
And there the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He said to me, “Get up, go out to the plain, and there I will speak with you.”
Then I arose, and went forth into the
plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of
Chebar: and I fell on my face.
So I got up and went out to the plain, and behold, the glory of the LORD was present there, like the glory I had seen by the River Kebar, and I fell facedown.
And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
And there I saw the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision I had seen in the plain.

I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the
plain of
Aven, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from the house of
Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

Aven and the one who wields the
scepter in Beth-
eden. The people of
Aram will be exiled to Kir,” says the LORD.
