Yet there is both straw and
provender for our
asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy
handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.
even though there is both straw and feed for our
donkeys, and bread and wine for me and the
maidservant and young man with me. There is nothing that we, your servants, lack.”
So he brought him into his house, and gave
provender unto the
asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.
So he brought him to his house and fed his
donkeys. And they washed their feet and
ate and
drank.
And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to
fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.
We will take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of every thousand, and a thousand out of every ten thousand, to supply
provisions for the army when they go to Gibeah in Benjamin to
punish them for the
atrocity they have committed in Israel.”
Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
When
Naomi heard in Moab that the LORD had attended to His people by
providing them with food, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to leave the land of Moab.
And
Naomi had a
kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
Now
Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a
prominent man of noble character from the clan of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz.
Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning
redeeming and concerning changing, for to
confirm all things; a man
plucked off his
shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
Now in former times in Israel, concerning the
redemption or exchange of
property, to make any matter legally binding a man would remove his
sandal and give it to the other party, and this was a
confirmation in Israel.
And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like
Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou
worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in
Bethlehem:
“We are witnesses,” said the elders and all the people at the gate. “May the LORD make the woman entering your home like
Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you be
prosperous in Ephrathah and famous in
Bethlehem.
And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she
provoked her; therefore she
wept, and did not eat.
And this went on year after year. Whenever
Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival
taunted her until she
wept and would not eat.
Talk no more so exceeding
proudly; let not
arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are
weighed.
Do not
boast so
proudly, or let
arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him actions are
weighed.
And the priest’s custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant came, while the flesh was in
seething, with a
fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-
pronged meat
fork while the meat was boiling
And all Israel from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a
prophet of the LORD.
So all Israel from
Dan to
Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a
prophet of the LORD.
Now therefore
hearken unto their voice:
howbeit yet
protest solemnly unto them, and
shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
Now
listen to them, but you must solemnly
warn them and show them the manner of the king who will reign over them.”
(Formerly in Israel, a man on his way to inquire of God would say, “Come, let us go to the
seer.” For the
prophet of
today was formerly called the
seer.)
After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of
prophets coming down from the high place with a
psaltery, and a
tabret, and a pipe, and a
harp, before them; and they shall
prophesy:
After that you will come to Gibeah of God, where the Philistines have an outpost. As you approach the city, you will meet a group of
prophets coming down from the high place, preceded by harps, tambourines, flutes, and lyres, and they will be
prophesying.
And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt
prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
Then the Spirit of the LORD will
rush upon you, and you will
prophesy with them; and you will be transformed into a different person.
And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of
prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he
prophesied among them.
When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a group of
prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God
rushed upon him, and he
prophesied along with them.
And it came to pass, when all that knew him
beforetime saw that, behold, he
prophesied among the
prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of
Kish? Is Saul also among the
prophets?
All those who had formerly known Saul and saw him
prophesying with the
prophets asked one another, “What has happened to the son of
Kish? Is Saul also among the
prophets?”
And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a
proverb, Is Saul also among the
prophets?
Then a man who lived there replied, “And who is their father?” So the saying became a
proverb: “Is Saul also among the
prophets?”
And when he had made an end of
prophesying, he came to the high place.
And when Saul had finished
prophesying, he went up to the high place.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and
hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,
Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
He took a pair of oxen, cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel,
proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of
anyone who does not march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.
And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.
Do not turn aside after worthless things that cannot profit you or deliver you, for they are empty.
And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long
wilt thou
mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to
Jesse the
Bethlehemite: for I have
provided me a king among his sons.
Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long are you going to
mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to
Jesse of
Bethlehem, for I have selected from his sons a king for Myself.”
And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
And Saul commanded his servants, “Find me someone who plays well, and bring him to me.”
And David
girded his sword upon his armour, and he
assayed to go; for he had not
proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not
proved them. And David put them off him.
David
strapped his sword over the
tunic and tried to walk, but he was not accustomed to them. “I cannot walk in these,” David said to Saul. “I am not accustomed to them.” So David took them off.
And David went out
whithersoever Saul sent him, and
behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
So David marched out and
prospered in everything Saul sent him to do, and Saul set him over the men of war. And this was pleasing in the sight of all the people, and of Saul’s officers as well.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he
prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a
javelin in Saul’s hand.
The next day a spirit of distress sent from God came upon Saul, and he
prophesied inside the house while David played the
harp as usual. Now Saul was holding a
spear,
And David
behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.
and he continued to
prosper in all his ways, because the LORD was with him.
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the
prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also
prophesied.
he sent messengers to capture him. But when they saw the group of
prophets prophesying, with Samuel leading them, the Spirit of God came upon them, and Saul’s messengers also began to
prophesy.
And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they
prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they
prophesied also.
When this was reported to Saul, he sent more messengers, but they began to
prophesy as well. So Saul tried again and sent messengers a third time, and even they began to
prophesy.
And he went thither to Naioth in
Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and
prophesied, until he came to Naioth in
Ramah.
So Saul went to Naioth in
Ramah. But the Spirit of God came upon even Saul, and he walked along
prophesying until he came to Naioth in
Ramah.
And he stript off his clothes also, and
prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the
prophets?
Then Saul
stripped off his robes and also
prophesied before Samuel. And he
collapsed and lay naked all that day and night. That is why it is said, “Is Saul also among the
prophets?”
And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is
hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
“There is no common bread on hand,” the priest replied, “but there is some consecrated bread—provided that the young men have kept themselves from women.”
And the
prophet Gad said unto David,
Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
Then the
prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the
stronghold. Depart and go into the land of Judah.” So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.
And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made
haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
Saul was
proceeding along one side of the mountain, and David and his men along the other side. Even though David was
hurrying to get away, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.
As saith the
proverb of the ancients, Wickedness
proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
As the old
proverb says, ‘Wickedness
proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand will never be against you.
And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
and say to him, ‘Long life to you, and peace to you and your house and to all that belongs to you.
Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that
pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
Now David had just finished saying, “In vain I have protected all that belonged to this man in the wilderness. Nothing that belongs to him has gone missing, yet he has paid me back evil for good.
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;
When the LORD has done for my lord all the good He promised, and when He has appointed you ruler over Israel,
And David said to
Abner, Art not thou a
valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.
So David said to
Abner, “You are a man, aren’t you? And who in Israel is your equal? Why then did you not
protect your lord the king when one of the people came to destroy him?
This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD’S
anointed. And now see where the king’s
spear is, and the
cruse of water that was at his
bolster.
This thing you have done is not good. As surely as the LORD lives, all of you deserve to die, since you did not
protect your lord, the LORD’s
anointed. Now look around. Where are the king’s
spear and water
jug that were by his head?”
And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams nor by
Urim, nor by
prophets.
He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or
Urim or
prophets.
And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am
sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by
prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” “I am deeply distressed,” replied Saul. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”
Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
But David said, “My brothers, you must not do this with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiders who came against us.
For who will
hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
Who will
listen to your
proposal? The share of the one who went to battle will
match the share of the one who stayed with the supplies. They will share alike.”
And they cut off his head, and
stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to
publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.
They cut off Saul’s head,
stripped off his
armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to
proclaim the news in the temples of their idols and among their people.
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
Now the war between the house of Saul and the house of David was
protracted. And David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.
That the king said unto
Nathan the
prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
he said to
Nathan the
prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
Moreover I will
appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness
afflict them any more, as
beforetime,
And I will
provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness
oppress them as they did at the beginning
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall
proceed out of thy
bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
And when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your
descendant after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.
And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And now, O LORD God,
confirm forever the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house. Do as You have
promised,
And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
And now, O Lord GOD, You are God! Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how
Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war
prospered.
When Uriah came to him, David asked how
Joab and the troops were doing with the war.
And he sent by the hand of
Nathan the
prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
and sent word through
Nathan the
prophet to name him Jedidiah because the LORD loved him.
And it came to pass after this, that
Absalom prepared him
chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
Some time later,
Absalom provided for himself a
chariot with horses and fifty men to run
ahead of him.
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and
cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
So David and his men
proceeded along the road as Shimei went along the ridge of the hill opposite him. As Shimei went, he
yelled curses, threw stones, and
flung dust at David.
And the saying pleased
Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
This
proposal seemed good to
Absalom and all the elders of Israel.
And when Hushai was come to
Absalom,
Absalom spake unto him, saying,
Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.
So Hushai came to
Absalom, who told him, “
Ahithophel has spoken this
proposal. Should we carry it out? If not, what do you say?”
And the man said unto
Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and
Abishai and Ittai, saying,
Beware that none touch the young man
Absalom.
The man replied, “Even if a thousand shekels of silver were
weighed out into my hands, I would not raise my hand against the son of the king. For we heard the king command you and
Abishai and Ittai, ‘
Protect the young man
Absalom for my sake.’
Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even
fourscore years old: and he had
provided the king of
sustenance while he lay at
Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
Barzillai was quite old, eighty years of age, and since he was a very wealthy man, he had
provided for the king while he stayed in
Mahanaim.
And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.
The king said to Barzillai, “Cross over with me, and I will provide for you at my side in Jerusalem.”
And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in
widowhood.
When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He
provided for them, but he no longer
slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.
And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of
Gad, and toward Jazer:
They crossed the Jordan and camped near Aroer, south of the town in the middle of the valley, and
proceeded toward
Gad and Jazer.
For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the
prophet Gad, David’s
seer, saying,
When David got up in the morning, a revelation from the LORD had come to
Gad the
prophet, David’s
seer:
But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and
Nathan the
prophet, and Shimei, and
Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
But
Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada,
Nathan the
prophet, Shimei,
Rei, and David’s mighty men would not join Adonijah.
But
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.
But he did not
invite Nathan the
prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.
And, lo, while she yet talked with the king,
Nathan the
prophet also came in.
And just then, while Bathsheba was still speaking with the king,
Nathan the
prophet arrived.
And they told the king, saying, Behold
Nathan the
prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
So the king was told, “
Nathan the
prophet is here.” And
Nathan went in and bowed facedown before the king.
And king David said, Call me
Zadok the priest, and
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
Then King David said, “Call in for me
Zadok the priest,
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” So they came before the king.
And let
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the
prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the
trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.
There
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the
prophet are to
anoint him king over Israel. You are to blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
So
Zadok the priest, and
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to
ride upon king David’s
mule, and brought him to
Gihon.
Then
Zadok the priest,
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, along with the Cherethites and Pelethites, went down and set Solomon on King David’s
mule, and they
escorted him to
Gihon.
And
Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they
blew the
trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and
anointed Solomon. Then they
blew the ram’s horn, and all the people
proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!”
And the king hath sent with him
Zadok the priest, and
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to
ride upon the king’s
mule:
And with Solomon, the king has sent
Zadok the priest,
Nathan the
prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, along with the Cherethites and Pelethites, and they have set him on the king’s
mule.
And
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the
prophet have
anointed him king in
Gihon: and they are come up from thence
rejoicing, so that the city
rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the
prophet have
anointed him king at
Gihon, and they have gone up from there with
rejoicing that rings out in the city. That is the noise you hear.
And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
saying, ‘Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel!
Today He has
provided one to sit on my throne, and my eyes have seen it.’”
I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and
shew thyself a man;
“I am about to go the way of all the earth. So be strong and
prove yourself a man.
And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his
testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest
prosper in all that thou doest, and
whithersoever thou turnest
thyself:
And keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in His ways and to keep His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may
prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take
heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
and so that the LORD may
fulfill His
promise to me: ‘If your descendants take
heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the One who established me, who set me on the throne of my father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He
promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death
today!”
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to
swear by the LORD, and
protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any
whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good.
the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you
swear by the LORD and
warn you, ‘On the day you leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will
comply.’
And if thou
wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will
lengthen thy days.
So if you walk in My ways and keep My statutes and commandments, just as your father David did, I will
prolong your days.”
Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
At that time two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which
provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made
provision.
Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel to provide food for the king and his household. Each one would arrange provisions for one month of the year,
And Solomon’s
provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and
threescore measures of meal,
Solomon’s provisions for a single day were thirty cors of fine flour, sixty cors of meal,
And those officers
provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.
Each month the governors in turn provided food for King Solomon and all who came to his table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
And he spake three thousand
proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.
Solomon composed three thousand
proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.
My servants shall bring them down from
Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt
appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt
accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
My servants will
haul the logs from
Lebanon to the Sea, and I will
float them as rafts by sea to the place you
specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by
providing my household with food.”
So
Hiram gave Solomon
cedar trees and
fir trees according to all his desire.
And Solomon gave
Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to
Hiram year by year.
and year after year Solomon would
provide Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.
And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he
promised him: and there was peace between
Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had
promised him. There was peace between
Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.
And the
porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
The
portico at the front of the main hall of the temple was twenty cubits long, extending across the width of the temple and
projecting out ten cubits in front of the temple.
Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou
wilt walk in my statutes, and
execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
“As for this temple you are building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will
fulfill through you the
promise I made to your father David.
And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the
belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other
chapiter.
On the capitals of both pillars, just above the rounded
projection next to the network, were the two hundred pomegranates in rows
encircling each capital.
And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself.
Each stand had four handles, one for each corner, projecting from the stand.
For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.
He engraved
cherubim, lions, and palm trees on the surfaces of the supports and panels, wherever each had space, with
