Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And every beast that parteth the
hoof, and cleaveth the
cleft into two claws, and cheweth the
cud among the beasts, that ye
shall eat.
You may eat any animal that has a split
hoof divided in two and that chews the
cud.
Nevertheless these ye
shall not eat of them that
chew the
cud, or of them that divide the
cloven hoof; as the
camel, and the
hare, and the
coney: for they
chew the
cud, but divide not the
hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
But of those that
chew the
cud or have a completely divided
hoof, you are not to eat the following: the
camel, the
rabbit, or the rock
badger.
And the
swine, because it divideth the
hoof, yet cheweth not the
cud, it is unclean unto you: ye
shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead
carcase.
Although they
chew the
cud, they do not have a divided
hoof. They are unclean for you, as well as the pig; though it has a divided
hoof, it does not
chew the
cud. It is unclean for you. You must not eat its meat or touch its
carcass.
These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
Of all the creatures that live in the water, you may eat anything with fins and scales,
Of all clean birds ye shall eat.
You may eat any clean bird,
But these are they of which ye
shall not eat: the eagle, and
ossifrage, and the
ospray,
And every
creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they
shall not be eaten.
All flying insects are unclean for you; they may not be eaten.
Ye
shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou
shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an
alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou
shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
You are not to eat any
carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Thou
shalt truly
tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
And thou
shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he
shall choose to place his name there, the
tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the
firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
But if the distance is too great for you to carry that with which the LORD your God has blessed you, because the place where the LORD your God will choose to put His Name is too far away,
Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
And thou
shalt bestow that money for
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for
whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou
shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou
shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
Then you may
spend the money on anything you desire: cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or anything you wish. You are to feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and
rejoice with your household.
And the
Levite that is within thy gates; thou
shalt not
forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
And do not neglect the
Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
At the end of three years thou
shalt bring forth all the
tithe of thine increase the same year, and
shalt lay it up within thy gates:
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
And the
Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates,
shall come, and
shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
Then the
Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all the work of your hands.
At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.
At the end of every seven years you must
cancel debts.
And this is the manner of the release: Every
creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour
shall release it; he
shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD’S release.
This is the manner of remission: Every
creditor shall cancel what he has
loaned to his
neighbor. He is not to collect anything from his
neighbor or brother, because the LORD’s time of release has been proclaimed.
Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
You may collect something from a foreigner, but you must
forgive whatever your brother owes you.
Save when there
shall be no poor among you; for the LORD
shall greatly
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely
bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,
For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou
shalt lend unto many nations, but thou
shalt not
borrow; and thou
shalt reign over many nations, but they
shall not reign over thee.
When the LORD your God blesses you as He has promised, you will
lend to many nations but
borrow from none; you will rule over many nations but be ruled by none.
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou
shalt not
harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
If there is a poor man among your brothers within any of the gates in the land that the LORD your God is giving you, then you are not to
harden your heart or shut your hand from your poor brother.
But thou
shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and
shalt surely
lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
Instead, you are to open your hand to him and freely
loan him whatever he needs.
Thou
shalt surely give him, and thine heart
shall not be
grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God
shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
Give generously to him, and do not let your heart be
grieved when you do so. And because of this the LORD your God will
bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hand.
For the poor
shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou
shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy
needy, in thy land.
For there will never cease to be poor in the land; that is why I am commanding you to open wide your hand to your brother and to the poor and
needy in your land.
And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you must set him free.
And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:
And when you release him, do not send him away empty-handed.
Thou
shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that
wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou
shalt give unto him.
You are to furnish him liberally from your flock, your
threshing floor, and your winepress. You
shall give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you.
And thou
shalt remember that thou
wast a
bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; that is why I am giving you this command
today.
And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your household and is well off with you,
Then thou
shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he
shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy
maidservant thou
shalt do likewise.
then take an
awl and
pierce it through his ear into the door, and he will become your servant for life. And treat your
maidservant the same way.
It
shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double
hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God
shall bless thee in all that thou doest.
Do not regard it as a
hardship to set your servant free, because his six years of service were worth twice the wages of a
hired hand. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all you do.
You must set apart to the LORD your God every
firstborn male produced by your herds and flocks. You are not to put the
firstborn of your oxen to work, nor are you to
shear the
firstborn of your flock.
Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household.
Each year you and your household are to eat it before the LORD your God in the place the LORD will choose.
And if there be any
blemish therein, as if it be
lame, or blind, or have any ill
blemish, thou
shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.
But if an animal has a defect, is
lame or blind, or has any serious
flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.
Thou
shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person
shall eat it alike, as the
roebuck, and as the
hart.
Eat it within your gates; both the
ceremonially unclean and clean may eat it as they would a
gazelle or a deer.
Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.
But you must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.
Thou
shalt therefore sacrifice the
passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the
herd, in the place which the LORD
shall choose to place his name there.
You are to offer to the LORD your God the
Passover sacrifice from the
herd or flock in the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for His Name.
Thou
shalt eat no
leavened bread with it; seven days
shalt thou eat
unleavened bread
therewith, even the bread of
affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in
haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.
You must not eat
leavened bread with it; for seven days you are to eat with it
unleavened bread, the bread of
affliction, because you left the land of Egypt in
haste—so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.
And there
shall be no
leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither
shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
No
leaven is to be found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day
shall remain until morning.
But at the place which the LORD thy God
shall choose to place his name in, there thou
shalt sacrifice the
passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.
You must only offer the
Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same time you departed from Egypt.
And thou
shalt roast and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God
shall choose: and thou
shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.
And you
shall roast it and eat it in the place the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you
shall return to your tents.
Six days thou
shalt eat
unleavened bread: and on the seventh day
shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD thy God: thou
shalt do no work therein.
For six days you must eat
unleavened bread, and on the seventh day you
shall hold a solemn assembly to the LORD your God, and you must not do any work.
Seven weeks
shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the
sickle to the corn.
You are to count off seven weeks from the time you first put the
sickle to the standing grain.
And thou
shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a
freewill offering of thine hand, which thou
shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
And you
shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with a
freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you,
And thou
shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy
manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the
Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
and you
shall rejoice before the LORD your God in the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
And thou
shalt remember that thou
wast a
bondman in Egypt: and thou
shalt observe and do these statutes.
Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and carefully follow these statutes.
Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:
You are to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your
threshing floor and your winepress.
And thou
shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy
manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the
Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.
And you
shall rejoice in your feast—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
Seven days
shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD
shall choose: because the LORD thy God
shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou
shalt surely
rejoice.
For seven days you
shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place He will choose, because the LORD your God will
bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that your joy will be complete.
Three times in a year
shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he
shall choose; in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they
shall not appear before the LORD empty:
Three times a year all your men are to appear before the LORD your God in the place He will choose: at the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the LORD empty-handed.
Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.
Everyone must appear with a gift as he is able, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you.
Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
You are to
appoint judges and officials for your tribes in every town that the LORD your God is giving you. They are to judge the people with righteous judgment.
Thou
shalt not
wrest judgment; thou
shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift
doth blind the eyes of the wise, and
pervert the words of the righteous.
Do not deny justice or show
partiality. Do not accept a
bribe, for a
bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
That which is altogether just
shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and
inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Pursue justice, and justice alone, so that you may live, and you may possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Thou
shalt not plant thee a
grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou
shalt make thee.
Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole next to the altar you will build for the LORD your God,
Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth.
and do not set up for
yourselves a sacred
pillar, which the LORD your God hates.
Thou
shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God any
bullock, or sheep, wherein is
blemish, or any evilfavouredness: for that is an
abomination unto the LORD thy God.
You
shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God an ox or a sheep with any defect or serious
flaw, for that is
detestable to the LORD your God.
Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
you must bring out to your gates the man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you must stone that person to death.
At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man
shall be put to death, but he
shall not be executed on the testimony of a
lone witness.
The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.
The hands of the witnesses
shall be the first in putting him to death, and after that, the hands of all the people. So you must
purge the evil from among you.
If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between
plea and
plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then
shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God
shall choose;
If a case is too difficult for you to judge, whether the controversy within your gates is regarding
bloodshed, lawsuits, or assaults, you must go up to the place the LORD your God will choose.
And thou
shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that
shall be in those days, and
enquire; and they
shall shew thee the sentence of judgment:
You are to go to the
Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that time. Inquire of them, and they will give you a
verdict in the case.
And thou
shalt do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD
shall choose
shall shew thee; and thou
shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee:
You must
abide by the
verdict they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they
instruct you,
According to the sentence of the law which they
shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they
shall tell thee, thou
shalt do: thou
shalt not decline from the sentence which they
shall shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.
according to the terms of law they give and the
verdict they
proclaim. Do not turn aside to the right or to the left from the decision they declare to you.
And the man that will do
presumptuously, and will not
hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man
shall die: and thou
shalt put away the evil from Israel.
But the man who acts
presumptuously, refusing to
listen either to the priest who stands there to serve the LORD your God, or to the judge, must be put to death. You must
purge the evil from Israel.
And all the people
shall hear, and fear, and do no more
presumptuously.
Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and will no longer
behave arrogantly.
When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”
Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.
you are to
appoint over
yourselves the king whom the LORD your God
shall choose.
Appoint a king from among your brothers; you are not to set over
yourselves a foreigner who is not one of your brothers.
But he
shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses:
forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye
shall henceforth return no more that way.
But the king must not acquire many horses for himself or send the people back to Egypt to acquire more horses, for the LORD has said, ‘You are never to go back that way again.’
Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
He must not take many wives for himself, lest his heart go
astray. He must not
accumulate for himself large amounts of silver and gold.
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
When he is seated on his royal throne, he must write for himself a copy of this instruction on a
scroll in the presence of the
Levitical priests.
And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by carefully observing all the words of this instruction and these statutes.
The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
The
Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—
shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the offerings made by fire to the LORD; that is their inheritance.
Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
Although they have no inheritance among their brothers, the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them.
And this
shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they
shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the
maw.
This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the
fleece of thy sheep,
shalt thou give him.
You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool
sheared from your flock.
And if a
Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he
sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD
shall choose;
Now if a
Levite moves from any town of residence throughout Israel and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,
Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.
then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD.
They
shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his
patrimony.
They shall eat equal portions, even though he has received money from the sale of his father’s estate.
When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not
imitate the
detestable ways of the nations there.
There
shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices
divination or
conjury, interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
You must be
blameless before the LORD your God.
For these nations, which thou
shalt possess,
hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
Though these nations, which you will dispossess,
listen to conjurers and diviners, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye
shall hearken;
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must
listen to him.
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
And it
shall come to pass, that
whosoever will not
hearken unto my words which he
shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
And I will hold accountable
anyone who does not
listen to My words that the prophet speaks in My name.
But the prophet, which
shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that
shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet
shall die.
But if any prophet
dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.”
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?”
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it
presumptuously: thou
shalt not be afraid of him.
When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken
presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
then you are to set apart for
yourselves three cities within the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
Thou
shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to
inherit, into three parts, that every
slayer may
flee thither.
You are to build roads for
yourselves and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any
manslayer can
flee to these cities.
And this is the case of the
slayer, which
shall flee thither, that he may live:
Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he
hated not in time past;
Now this is the situation regarding the
manslayer who flees to one of these cities to save his life, having killed his
neighbor accidentally, without intending to
harm him:
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to
hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the
axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the
helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he
shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
If he goes into the forest with his
neighbor to cut timber and swings his
axe to
chop down a tree, but the
blade flies off the handle and strikes and kills his
neighbor, he may
flee to one of these cities to save his life.
Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
This is why I am commanding you to set apart for
yourselves three cities.
If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
and if you carefully keep all these commandments I am giving you
today, loving the LORD your God and walking in His ways at all times, then you are to add three more cities to these three.
Then the elders of his city
shall send and
fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the
avenger of blood, that he may die.
the elders of his city must send for him, bring him back, and hand him over to the
avenger of blood to die.
Thine eye
shall not
pity him, but thou
shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
You must show him no
pity. You are to
purge from Israel the guilt of
shedding innocent blood, that it may go well with you.
Thou
shalt not remove thy neighbour’s
landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou
shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
You must not move your
neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the inheritance you
shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
A
lone witness is not sufficient to establish any
wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what
offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
