Then she said, I desire one small petition of
thee; I pray
thee, say me not
nay. And
the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say
thee nay.
“I have just one small request of you,” she said. “Do not deny me.” “Make your request, my mother,” the king replied, “for I will not deny you.”
And she said, Let
Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
So Bathsheba said, “Let
Abishag the Shunammite be given to your brother Adonijah as his wife.”
And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why
dost thou ask
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him
the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for
Abiathar the priest, and for
Joab the son of Zeruiah.
King Solomon answered his mother, “Why do you request
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my older brother, you might as well request
the kingdom for him and for
Abiathar the priest and for
Joab son of Zeruiah!”
Then king Solomon
sware by
the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.
Then King Solomon
swore by
the LORD: “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at
the expense of his life.
Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
And now, as surely as
the LORD lives—
the One who established me, who set me on
the throne of my father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death
today!”
And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.
So King Solomon sent the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who struck down Adonijah, and he died.
And unto
Abiathar the priest said
the king, Get
thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put
thee to death, because thou barest
the ark of
the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou hast been
afflicted in all wherein my father was
afflicted.
Then the king said to
Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried
the ark of
the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
So Solomon thrust out
Abiathar from being priest unto
the LORD; that he might fulfil
the word of
the LORD, which he spake concerning
the house of
Eli in
Shiloh.
So Solomon banished
Abiathar from
the priesthood of
the LORD and thus fulfilled
the word that
the LORD had spoken at
Shiloh against
the house of
Eli.
Then tidings came to
Joab: for
Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after
Absalom. And
Joab fled unto
the tabernacle of
the LORD, and caught hold on
the horns of
the altar.
When
the news reached
Joab, who had
conspired with Adonijah but not with
Absalom, he fled to
the tent of
the LORD and took hold of
the horns of
the altar.
And it was told king Solomon that
Joab was fled unto
the tabernacle of
the LORD; and, behold, he is by
the altar.
Then Solomon sent Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
It was reported to King Solomon: “
Joab has fled to
the tent of
the LORD and is now beside
the altar.” So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, strike him down!”
And Benaiah came to
the tabernacle of
the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith
the king, Come forth. And he said,
Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought
the king word again, saying, Thus said
Joab, and thus he answered me.
And Benaiah entered
the tent of
the LORD and said to
Joab, “
The king says, ‘Come out!’” But
Joab replied, “No, I will die here.” So Benaiah relayed
the message to
the king, saying, “This is how
Joab answered me.”
And
the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away
the innocent blood, which
Joab shed, from me, and from
the house of my father.
And
the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and
bury him, and so remove from me and from
the house of my father
the innocent blood that
Joab shed.
And
the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with
the sword, my father David not knowing
thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of
the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of
the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring his
bloodshed back upon his own head, for without
the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to
the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
Their blood shall
therefore return upon
the head of
Joab, and upon
the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall
there be peace for ever from
the LORD.
Their blood will come back upon
the heads of
Joab and his descendants
forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne,
there shall be peace from
the LORD
forever.”
So Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and
slew him: and he was buried in his own house in
the wilderness.
So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down
Joab, and killed him. He was buried at his own home in
the wilderness.
And
the king put Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada in his room over
the host: and
Zadok the priest did
the king put in
the room of
Abiathar.
And
the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in
Joab’s place over
the army, and he appointed
Zadok the priest in
Abiathar’s place.
And
the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Build
thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell
there, and go not forth
thence any
whither.
Then the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Build a house for
yourself in Jerusalem and live
there, but do not go
anywhere else.
For it shall be, that on
the day thou goest out, and passest over
the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
And Shimei said unto the king, The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
“The sentence is fair,” Shimei replied. “Your servant will do as my lord the king has spoken.” And Shimei lived in Jerusalem for a long time.
And it came to pass at
the end of three years, that two of
the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of
Gath. And
they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in
Gath.
After three years, however, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish son of
Maacah, king of
Gath. And Shimei was told, “Look, your slaves are in
Gath.”
And Shimei arose, and
saddled his
ass, and went to
Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants from
Gath.
So Shimei
saddled his
donkey and set out to Achish at
Gath in search of his slaves, and he brought
them back from
Gath.
And
the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make
thee to
swear by
the LORD, and
protested unto
thee, saying, Know for a certain, on
the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any
whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me,
The word that I have heard is good.
the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you
swear by
the LORD and
warn you, ‘On
the day you leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘
The sentence is fair; I will
comply.’
Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?
So why have you not kept your oath to the LORD and the command that I gave you?”
The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all
the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou
didst to David my father:
therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.
But King Solomon will be blessed and David’s throne will remain secure before
the LORD
forever.”
So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down, and he died. Thus the kingdom was firmly established in the hand of Solomon.
And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
Later, Solomon formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his palace and the house of the LORD, as well as the wall around Jerusalem.
Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
The people, however, were still sacrificing on the high places because a house for the Name of the LORD had not yet been built.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
And Solomon loved the LORD and walked in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
And
the king went to
Gibeon to sacrifice
there; for that was
the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
Now
the king went to
Gibeon to sacrifice
there, for it was
the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on
the altar
there.
In
Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give
thee.
One night at
Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
Solomon replied, “You have shown much loving devotion to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. And You have maintained this loving devotion by giving him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
Your servant is here among the people You have chosen, a people too numerous to count or number.
Give
therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may
discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
Therefore give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and to
discern between good and evil. For who is able to
govern this great people of Yours?”
And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had made this request.
And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for
thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for
thyself, nor hast asked
the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for
thyself understanding to
discern judgment;
So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this instead of requesting long life or wealth for
yourself or death for your enemies—but you have asked for
discernment to
administer justice—
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
behold, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and
discerning heart, so that
there has never been nor will ever be another like you.
And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
Moreover, I will give you what you did not request—both riches and honor—so that during all your days no man in any kingdom will be your equal.
And if thou
wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk,
then I will
lengthen thy days.
So if you walk in My ways and keep My statutes and commandments, just as your father David did, I will
prolong your days.”
And Solomon
awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before
the ark of
the covenant of
the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Then Solomon
awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he returned to Jerusalem, stood before
the ark of
the covenant of
the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
Then he held a feast for all his servants.
Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
At that time two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
One woman said, “Please, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth while she was in the house.
And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
On
the third day after I gave birth, this woman also had a
baby. We were alone, with no one in
the house but
the two of us.
And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
During the night this woman’s son died because she rolled over on him.
So she got up in
the middle of
the night and took my son from my side while I was
asleep. She laid him in her
bosom and put her dead son at my
bosom.
And when I rose in
the morning to give my child
suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in
the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
The next morning, when I got up to
nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. But when I examined him, I realized that he was not
the son I had borne.”
And
the other woman said,
Nay; but
the living is my son, and
the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but
the dead is thy son, and
the living is my son. Thus
they spake before
the king.
“No,” said
the other woman, “
the living one is my son and
the dead one is your son.” But
the first woman insisted, “No,
the dead one is yours and
the living one is mine.” So
they argued before
the king.
Then said
the king,
The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is
the dead: and
the other saith,
Nay; but thy son is
the dead, and my son is
the living.
Then the king replied, “This woman says, ‘My son is alive and yours is dead,’ but that woman says, ‘No, your son is dead and mine is alive.’”
And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
The king continued, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought him a sword,
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
and the king declared, “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”
Then spake
the woman whose
the living child was unto
the king, for her
bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her
the living child, and in no wise
slay it. But
the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
Then the woman whose son was alive spoke to
the king because she
yearned with
compassion for her son. “Please, my lord,” she said, “give her
the living
baby. Do not kill him!” But
the other woman said, “He will be neither mine nor yours. Cut him in two!”
Then the king answered and said, Give her
the living child, and in no wise
slay it: she is
the mother
thereof.
Then the king gave his ruling: “Give
the living
baby to
the first woman. By no means should you kill him; she is his mother.”
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
When all Israel heard of
the judgment
the king had given,
they stood in
awe of him, for
they saw that
the wisdom of God was in him to
administer justice.
And
these were
the princes which he had;
Azariah the son of
Zadok the priest,
and
these were his chief officials:
Azariah son of
Zadok was
the priest;
Elihoreph and Ahiah,
the sons of Shisha,
scribes;
Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud,
the recorder.
And Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada was over
the host: and
Zadok and
Abiathar were
the priests:
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in charge of
the army;
Zadok and
Abiathar were priests;
And
Azariah the son of
Nathan was over
the officers: and Zabud
the son of
Nathan was principal officer, and
the king’s friend:
And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.
Ahishar was in charge of the palace; and Adoniram son of Abda was in charge of the forced labor.
And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided
victuals for
the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.
Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel to provide food for the king and his household. Each one would arrange provisions for one month of the year,
And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:
and these were their names: Ben-hur in the hill country of Ephraim;
The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan:
Ben-deker in Makaz, in Shaalbim, in Beth-shemesh, and in Elon-beth-hanan;
The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him
pertained Sochoh, and all
the land of Hepher:
Ben-hesed in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher belonged to him);
The son of Abinadab, in all
the region of
Dor; which had Taphath
the daughter of Solomon to wife:
Ben-abinadab in Naphath-
dor (Taphath, a daughter of Solomon, was his wife);
Baana
the son of Ahilud; to him
pertained Taanach and
Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath
Jezreel, from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah, even unto
the place that is beyond Jokneam:
Baana son of Ahilud in Taanach, in
Megiddo, and in all of Beth-shean next to Zarethan below
Jezreel, from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah and on past Jokmeam;
Ahimaaz was in
Naphtali; he also took Basmath
the daughter of Solomon to wife:
Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:
Baana son of Hushai in Asher and in Aloth;
Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:
Shimei son of Ela in Benjamin;
Geber the son of
Uri was in
the country of
Gilead, in
the country of Sihon king of
the Amorites, and of
Og king of
Bashan; and he was
the only officer which was in
the land.
Geber son of
Uri in
the land of
Gilead, including
the territories of Sihon king of
the Amorites and of
Og king of
Bashan.
There was also one governor in
the land of Judah.
Judah and Israel were many, as
the sand which is by
the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making
merry.
The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as
the sand on
the seashore, and
they were eating and drinking and
rejoicing.
And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
And Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These kingdoms offered tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.
Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of
the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and
fatted fowl.
ten fat oxen, twenty range oxen, and a hundred sheep, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks, and
fattened poultry.
For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
For Solomon had dominion over everything west of
the Euphrates—over all
the kingdoms from Tiphsah to
Gaza—and he had peace on all sides.
And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, all
the days of Solomon.
Throughout
the days of Solomon, Judah and Israel dwelt securely from
Dan to
Beersheba, each man under his own vine and his own fig tree.
And those officers provided
victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month:
they lacked nothing.
Each month the governors in turn provided food for King Solomon and all who came to his table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
Barley also and straw for
the horses and
dromedaries brought
they unto
the place where
the officers were, every man according to his charge.
Each one also brought to
the required place
their quotas of barley and straw for
the chariot horses and other horses.
And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
And God gave Solomon wisdom, exceedingly deep insight, and understanding beyond measure, like
the sand on
the seashore.
And Solomon’s wisdom
excelled the wisdom of all
the children of
the east country, and all
the wisdom of Egypt.
Solomon’s wisdom was greater than that of all the men of the East, greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
For he was wiser than all men; than
Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda,
the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.
He was wiser than all men—wiser than
Ethan the Ezrahite, and wiser than Heman, Calcol, and Darda,
the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread throughout
the surrounding nations.
And he spake of trees, from
the cedar tree that is in
Lebanon even unto
the hyssop that springeth out of
the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of
creeping things, and of fishes.
He spoke of trees, from
the cedar in
Lebanon to
the hyssop growing in
the wall, and he taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
So men of all nations came to
listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all
the kings of
the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
And
Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that
they had
anointed him king in
the room of his father: for
Hiram was ever a lover of David.
Now when
Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been
anointed king in his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for
Hiram had always been a friend of David.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to
the wars
waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for
the Name of
the LORD his God until
the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
But now
the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that
there is neither
adversary nor evil
occurrent.
But now
the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and
there is no
adversary or
crisis.
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’
Now
therefore command thou that
they hew me
cedar trees out of
Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto
thee will I give
hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt
appoint: for thou knowest that
there is not among us any that can skill to
hew timber like unto
the Sidonians.
Now
therefore, order that cedars of
Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that
there are none among us as skilled in
logging as
the Sidonians.”
And it came to pass, when
Hiram heard
the words of Solomon, that he
rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be
the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
When
Hiram received Solomon’s message, he
rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be
the LORD this day! He has given David a wise son over this great people!”
And
Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered
the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of
cedar, and concerning timber of
fir.
Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: “I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding
the cedar and
cypress timber.
My servants shall bring
them down from
Lebanon unto
the sea: and I will convey
them by sea in floats unto
the place that thou shalt
appoint me, and will cause
them to be discharged
there, and thou shalt receive
them: and thou shalt
accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
My servants will
haul the logs from
Lebanon to
the Sea, and I will
float them as rafts by sea to
the place you
specify.
There I will separate
the logs, and you can take
them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”
So
Hiram gave Solomon
cedar trees and
fir trees according to all his desire.
And
the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and
there was peace between
Hiram and Solomon; and
they two made a league together.
And
the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him.
There was peace between
Hiram and Solomon, and
the two of
them made a treaty.
And king Solomon raised a
levy out of all Israel; and
the levy was thirty thousand men.
Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel.
And he sent
them to
Lebanon ten thousand a month by courses: a month
they were in
Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over
the levy.
He sent
them to
Lebanon in monthly shifts of 10,000 men, so that
they would
spend one month in
Lebanon and two months at home. And Adoniram was in charge of
the forced labor.
And Solomon had
threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and
fourscore thousand hewers in
the mountains;
Solomon had 70,000
porters and 80,000 stonecutters in
the mountains,
Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
And
the king commanded, and
they brought great stones, costly stones, and
hewed stones, to lay
the foundation of
the house.
And
the king commanded
them to
quarry large, costly stones to lay
the foundation of
the temple with dressed stones.
And Solomon’s builders and
Hiram’s builders did
hew them, and
the stonesquarers: so
they prepared timber and stones to build
the house.
So Solomon’s and
Hiram’s builders, along with
the Gebalites,
quarried the stone and prepared
the timber and stone for
the construction of
the temple.
And it came to pass in
the four hundred and
eightieth year after
the children of Israel were come out of
the land of Egypt, in
the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in
the month
Zif, which is
the second month, that he began to build
the house of
the LORD.
In
the four hundred and
eightieth year after
the Israelites had come out of
the land of Egypt, in
the month of Ziv,
the second month of
the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, he began to build
the house of
the LORD.
