thorns in your sides, and shall
vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

thorns in your sides; they will
harass you in the land where you settle.

traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and
thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
know for sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become for you a
snare and a
trap, a
scourge in your sides and
thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.
Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as
thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a

anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the
bramble, and
devour the cedars of

anointing me as king over you, come and find refuge in my shade. But if not, may fire come out of the
thornbush and
consume the cedars of
Lebanon.’

Manasseh, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze

Whose harvest the
hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the
thorns, and the
robber swalloweth up their substance.

Can you put a cord through his nose or
pierce his jaw with a hook?

thorns, he shall take them away as with a
whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

thorns— whether green or dry— He will
sweep them away.

quenched as the fire of
thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

slothful man is as an
hedge of
thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

hedge of
thorns, but the path of the upright is a
highway.

froward: he that
doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

thorns, and

drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

pruned, nor
digged; but there shall come up briers and

pruned nor cultivated, and
thorns and briers will grow up. I will command the clouds that rain shall not fall on it.”

graze and sheep to
trample.

For wickedness burns like a fire that consumes the thorns and briers and kindles the forest thickets which roll upward in billows of smoke.
And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and
devour his
thorns and his briers in one day;

angry. If only
thorns and briers

thorns and briers;

revelry.

thorn shall come up the
fir tree, and instead of the
brier shall come up the
myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an

sow among the
thorns.

reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be
ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

thorns be with thee, and thou
dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a
rebellious house.
But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and
thorns surround you, and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their presence, though they are a
rebellious house.
And there shall be no more a
pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any
grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that
despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

pricking brier or a painful
thorn from all around them who treat them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.’

hedge up thy way with
thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

hedge up her path with
thorns; I will
enclose her with a wall, so she cannot find her way.
For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up,
Memphis shall
bury them: the pleasant places for their silver,
nettles shall possess them:
thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

flee destruction, Egypt will gather them and
Memphis will
bury them. Their precious silver will be taken over by thistles, and
thorns will overrun their tents.
The high places also of
Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the
thorn and the

Aven will be destroyed— it is the sin of Israel;
thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”

brier; the most upright is sharper than a
hedge of
thorns. The day for your
watchmen has come, the day of your
visitation. Now is the time of their confusion.

thorns, and while they are
drunken as drunkards, they shall be

And some fell among
thorns; and the
thorns sprung up, and
choked them:
Other seed fell among
thorns, which grew up and
choked the seedlings.
He also that received seed among the
thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches,
choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
The seed sown among the
thorns is the one who hears the word, but the
worries of this life and the
deceitfulness of wealth
choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
And when they had
platted a crown of
thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the
knee before him, and
mocked him, saying,

thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and
knelt down before Him to
mock Him, saying, “
Hail, King of the Jews!”

thorns, which grew up and
choked the seedlings, and they yielded no crop.

platted a crown of
thorns, and put it about his head,

robe, twisted together a crown of
thorns, and set it on His head.
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of
thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a
bramble bush gather they grapes.
For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles.
And some fell among
thorns; and the
thorns sprang up with it, and
choked it.
Other seed fell among
thorns, which grew up with it and
choked the seedlings.

thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are
choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

choked by the
worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and their fruit does not
mature.

platted a crown of
thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple
robe,

thorns, set it on His head, and dressed Him in a purple

exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a
thorn in the flesh, the
messenger of

buffet me, lest I should be
exalted above measure.
But that which beareth
thorns and briers is rejected, and is
nigh unto
cursing; whose end is to be burned.

thorns and thistles is worthless, and its
curse is

iniquities like as a field is covered over with bushes, and the path thereof covered with
thorns, that no man may travel through!
Look that thou
hedge thy possession about with
thorns, and bind up thy silver and gold,
And likewise their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold, are like to a white
thorn in an
orchard, that every bird sitteth upon; as also to a dead body, that is east into the dark.
