Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a
teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
And though a tenth remains in the land, it will be burned again. As the
terebinth and oak leave stumps when felled, so the holy seed will be a
stump in the land.”
And it came to pass in the days of
Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it,
but could not prevail against it.
Now in the days that
Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, Rezin king of
Aram marched up to
wage war against Jerusalem. He was accompanied by Pekah son of Remaliah the king of Israel,
but he could not overpower the city.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
But this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘It will not arise; it will not happen.
But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I
tempt the LORD.
But Ahaz replied, “I will not ask; I will not test the LORD.”
And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to
weary men,
but will ye
weary my God also?
Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it not enough to try the
patience of men? Will you try the
patience of my God as well?
Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
By the time He knows enough to
reject evil and choose good, He will be eating curds and honey.
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.
and from the abundance of milk they give, he will eat curds; for all who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.
And on all hills that shall be
digged with the
mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns:
but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the
treading of lesser cattle.
For fear of the briers and thorns, you will no longer
traverse the hills once tilled by the
hoe; they will become places for oxen to
graze and sheep to
trample.
Take counsel together, and it shall come to
nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
Devise a plan,
but it will be
thwarted; state a proposal,
but it will not happen. For God is with us.”
And he shall be for a sanctuary;
but for a stone of
stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a
gin and for a
snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And He will be a sanctuary—
but to both houses of Israel a stone of
stumbling and a rock of
offense, to the dwellers of Jerusalem a
trap and a
snare.
Nevertheless, there will be no more
gloom for those in distress. In the past He humbled the land of
Zebulun and the land of
Naphtali,
but in the future He will honor the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the nations:
For every battle of the
warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood;
but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
For every
trampling boot of battle and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.
The bricks are fallen down,
but we will build with
hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down,
but we will change them into cedars.
“The bricks have fallen, but we will rebuild with finished stone; the sycamores have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.”
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall
devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away,
but his hand is stretched out still.
Aram from the east and Philistia from the west have
devoured Israel with open mouths.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
But the people did not return to Him who struck them; they did not seek the LORD of Hosts.
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an
hypocrite and an
evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away,
but his hand is stretched out still.
Therefore the Lord takes no pleasure in their young men; He has no
compassion on their fatherless and widows. For every one of them is godless and wicked, and every mouth speaks folly.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right,
but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left,
but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of his own offspring.
Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim,
Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away,
but his hand is stretched out still.
Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim
Manasseh; together they turn against Judah.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Nothing will remain
but to
crouch among the
captives or fall among the slain.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither
doth his heart think so;
but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
But this is not his intention; this is not his plan. For it is in his heart to destroy and cut off many nations.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the
remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that
smote them;
but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
On that day the
remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer depend on him who struck them,
but they will truly
rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the
meek of the earth: and he shall
smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he
slay the wicked.
but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and with
equity He will decide for the lowly of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and
slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.
But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall
spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon
Edom and Moab; and the children of
Ammon shall obey them.
They will
swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines to the west; together they will
plunder the sons of the east. They will lay their hands on
Edom and Moab, and the
Ammonites will be subject to them.
But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of
doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
But desert creatures will lie down there, and
howling creatures will fill her houses. Ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats will
leap about.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to
hell, to the sides of the pit.
But you will be brought down to
Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.
But thou art cast out of thy grave like an
abominable branch, and as the
raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a
carcase trodden under feet.
But you are cast out of your grave like a rejected branch, covered by those slain with the sword, and
dumped into a rocky pit like a
carcass trampled underfoot.
And the
firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the
needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall
slay thy
remnant.
Then the
firstborn of the poor will find pasture, and the
needy will lie down in safety,
but I will kill your root by famine, and your
remnant will be slain.
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the
remnant of the land.
The waters of Dimon are full of blood,
but I will bring more upon Dimon— a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon the
remnant of the land.
We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his
haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath:
but his lies shall not be so.
And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is
weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray;
but he shall not prevail.
When Moab appears on the high place, when he wearies himself and enters his sanctuary to pray, it will do him no good.
But now the LORD hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an
hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be
contemned, with all that great multitude; and the
remnant shall be very small and feeble.
And now the LORD says, “In three years, as a
hired worker counts the years, Moab’s
splendor will become an object of contempt, with all her many people. And those who are left will be few and feeble.”
In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to
flourish:
but the harvest shall be a
heap in the day of grief and of
desperate sorrow.
though on the day you plant you make them grow, and on that morning you help your seed
sprout— yet the harvest will
vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.
The nations shall
rush like the
rushing of many waters:
but God shall
rebuke them, and they shall
flee far off, and shall be
chased as the
chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the
whirlwind.
The nations
rage like the
rush of many waters. He rebukes them, and they
flee far away, driven before the wind like
chaff on the hills, like tumbleweeds before a
gale.
And the LORD shall
smite Egypt: he shall
smite and
heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall
heal them.
And the LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; He will strike them
but heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and He will hear their prayers and
heal them.
So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians
captives, young and old, naked and
barefoot, even with their
buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
so the king of Assyria will lead away the
captives of Egypt and the exiles of
Cush, young and old alike, naked and
barefoot, with bared
buttocks—to Egypt’s shame.
The
watchman replies, “Morning has come,
but also the night. If you would inquire, then inquire. Come back yet again.”
Ye made also a
ditch between the two walls for the water of the old
pool:
but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
You built a
reservoir between the walls for the waters of the ancient
pool,
but you did not look to the One who made it, or consider Him who
planned it long ago.
And behold joy and
gladness,
slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we shall die.
But look, there is joy and
gladness,
butchering of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an
harlot.
At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years—the span of a king’s life.
But at the end of seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the
harlot:
For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be
trodden down under him, even as straw is
trodden down for the
dunghill.
For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain.
But Moab will be
trampled in his place as straw is
trodden into the dung pile.
LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see:
but they shall see, and be
ashamed for their
envy at the people;
yea, the fire of thine enemies shall
devour them.
O LORD, Your hand is upraised,
but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will
consume them!
O LORD our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
O LORD our God, other lords besides You have had dominion,
but Your name alone do we
confess.
We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any
deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
We were with child; we
writhed in pain;
but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any life into the world.
But they also have
erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have
erred through strong drink, they are
swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they
err in vision, they
stumble in judgment.
To whom he said, This is the rest
wherewith ye may cause the
weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
to whom He has said: “This is the place of rest, let the
weary rest; this is the place of
repose.”
But they would not
listen.
But the word of the LORD was unto them
precept upon
precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and
snared, and taken.
Then the word of the LORD to them will become: “Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line; a little here, a little there,” so that they will go
stumbling backward and will be injured, ensnared, and captured.
Grain for bread must be ground,
but it is not endlessly
threshed. Though the wheels of the
cart roll over it, the horses do not
crush it.
Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as
chaff that passeth away:
yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
But your many foes will be like fine dust, the multitude of the
ruthless like blowing
chaff. Then suddenly, in an instant,
It shall even be as when an
hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth;
but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a
thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh;
but he awaketh, and, behold, he is
faint, and his soul hath
appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount
Zion.
as when a
hungry man dreams he is eating, then awakens still
hungry; as when a
thirsty man dreams he is drinking, then awakens
faint and
parched. So will it be for all the many nations who go to battle against Mount
Zion.
Stay
yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are
drunken,
but not with wine; they
stagger,
but not with strong drink.
Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me,
but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
Therefore the Lord said: “These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.
But when he
seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall
sanctify my name, and
sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
For when he sees his children around him, the work of My hands, they will honor My name, they will
sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and they will stand in
awe of the God of Israel.
Woe to the
rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel,
but not of me; and that cover with a covering,
but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
“
Woe to the
rebellious children,” declares the LORD, “to those who carry out a plan that is not Mine, who form an alliance,
but against My will,
heaping up sin upon sin.
Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
But Pharaoh’s protection will become your shame, and the refuge of Egypt’s shade your disgrace.
They were all
ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit,
but a shame, and also a reproach.
everyone will be put to shame because of a people useless to them. They cannot be of help; they are good for nothing
but shame and reproach.”
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By
repentance and rest you would be saved; your strength would lie in quiet confidence—
but you were not willing.”
But ye said, No; for we will
flee upon horses; therefore shall ye
flee: and, We will
ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
“No,” you say, “we will
flee on horses.” Therefore you will
flee! “We will
ride swift horses,”
but your pursuers will be faster.
And though the Lord give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more,
but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
The Lord will give you the bread of
adversity and the water of
affliction,
but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in
chariots, because they are many; and in
horsemen, because they are very strong;
but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who
rely on horses, who trust in their abundance of
chariots and in their multitude of
horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel; they do not seek the LORD.
Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Yet He too is wise and brings
disaster; He does not call back His words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked and against the allies of evildoers.
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is
holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
But the Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, the helper will
stumble, and the one he helps will fall; both will perish together.
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall
devour him:
but he shall
flee from the sword, and his young men shall be
discomfited.
“Then Assyria will fall,
but not by the sword of man; a sword will
devour them,
but not one made by mortals. They will
flee before the sword, and their young men will be put to forced labor.
But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.
But a noble man makes honorable plans; he stands up for worthy causes.
When it shall
hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.
But hail will level the forest, and the city will sink to the depths.
But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no
galley with oars, neither shall
gallant ship pass thereby.
But there the
Majestic One, our LORD, will be for us a place of rivers and wide canals, where no
galley with oars will row, and no
majestic vessel will pass.
But the
cormorant and the
bittern shall possess it; the
owl also and the
raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of
emptiness.
The desert
owl and
screech owl will possess it, and the great
owl and
raven will dwell in it. The LORD will stretch out over
Edom a measuring line of
chaos and a
plumb line of destruction.
They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
No nobles will be left to
proclaim a king, and all her princes will come to nothing.
And an
highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of
holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it;
but it shall be for those: the
wayfaring men, though fools, shall not
err therein.
And there will be a
highway called the Way of
Holiness. The unclean will not travel it— only those who walk in the Way— and fools will not
stray onto it.
No lion shall be there, nor any
ravenous beast shall go up
thereon, it shall not be found there;
but the redeemed shall walk there:
No lion will be there, and no
vicious beast will go up on it. Such will not be found there,
but the redeemed will walk upon it.
I say, sayest thou, (
but they are
but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom
dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
You claim to have a
strategy and strength for war,
but these are empty words. In whom are you now trusting, that you have rebelled against me?
But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars
Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is He not the One whose high places and altars
Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before this altar’?
But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own
piss with you?
But the
Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and drink their own
urine?”
But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
But the people remained silent and did not answer a word, for
Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer him.”
And they said unto him, Thus saith
Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of
rebuke, and of
blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
to tell him, “This is what
Hezekiah says:
Today is a day of distress,
rebuke, and disgrace; for children have come to the point of birth,
but there is no strength to deliver them.
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.
But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy
rage against me.
But I know your sitting down, your going out and coming in, and your
raging against Me.
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year
sow ye, and
reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
And this will be a sign to you, O
Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same.
But in the third year you will
sow and
reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
Surely for my own
welfare I had such great
anguish;
but Your love has delivered me from the pit of
oblivion, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.
Then said
Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
But Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the LORD that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “At least there will be peace and security in my lifetime.”
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
The grass
withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands
forever.”
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk and not
faint.
But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
“
But you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen,
descendant of Abraham My friend—
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that
contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of
nought.
You will seek them
but will not find them. Those who
wage war against you will come to nothing.
Thou shalt
fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the
whirlwind shall
scatter them: and thou shalt
rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
You will
winnow them, and a wind will carry them away; a
gale will
scatter them.
But you will
rejoice in the LORD; you will glory in the Holy One of Israel.
When the poor and
needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for
thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not
forsake them.
The poor and
needy seek water,
but there is none; their tongues are
parched with
thirst. I, the LORD, will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not
forsake them.
“I have kept silent from ages past; I have remained quiet and restrained.
But now I will
groan like a woman in labor; I will at once
gasp and
pant.
They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly
ashamed, that trust in
graven images, that say to the
molten images, Ye are our gods.
But those who trust in idols and say to
molten images, ‘You are our gods!’ will be turned back in utter shame.
Who is blind,
but my servant? or
deaf, as my
messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’S servant?
Who is blind
but My servant, or
deaf like the
messenger I am sending? Who is blind like My covenant
partner, or blind like the servant of the LORD?
Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.
Though seeing many things, you do not keep watch. Though your ears are open, you do not hear.”
But this is a people
robbed and
spoiled; they are all of them
snared in holes, and they are
hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a
spoil, and none saith, Restore.
Therefore he hath poured upon him the
fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
So He poured out on them His
furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It
enveloped them in flames,
but they did not understand; it consumed them,
but they did not take it to heart.
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
Now this is what the LORD says— He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine!
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the
deaf that have ears.
Bring out a people who have eyes
but are blind, and who have ears
but are
deaf.
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
I,
yes I, am the LORD, and there is no
Savior but Me.
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob;
but thou hast been
weary of me, O Israel.
But you have not called on Me, O Jacob, because you have grown
weary of Me, O Israel.
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices:
but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast
wearied me with thine
iniquities.
You have not bought Me sweet cane with your silver, nor satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices.
But you have burdened Me with your sins; you have
wearied Me with your
iniquities.
Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
But now
listen, O Jacob My servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his
redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Thus says the LORD, the King and
Redeemer of Israel, the LORD of Hosts: “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God
but Me.
