And set up over his head his
accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE
KING OF THE JEWS.
Above His head they posted the written charge against Him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
“He saved others, but He cannot save Himself. He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into
Galilee, preaching the gospel of the
kingdom of God,
After the arrest of John, Jesus went into
Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God.
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye, and believe the gospel.
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the
kingdom of God is near.
Repent and believe in the gospel!”
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
If a kingdom is divided against itself, it cannot stand.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the
mystery of the
kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
He replied, “The
mystery of the
kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those on the outside everything is expressed in parables,
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
Jesus also said, “The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground.
And he said,
Whereunto shall we
liken the
kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
Then He asked, “To what can we compare the kingdom of God? With what parable shall we present it?
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”
And
king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do
shew forth themselves in him.
Now
King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known, and people were saying, “John the Baptist has risen from the dead! That is why
miraculous powers are at work in him.”
And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the
king said unto the
damsel, Ask of me
whatsoever thou
wilt, and I will give it thee.
When the daughter of Herodias came and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests, and the
king said to the
girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.”
And he
sware unto her,
Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my
kingdom.
And he
swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give you, up to half my
kingdom!”
And she came in
straightway with
haste unto the
king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
At once the
girl hurried back to the
king with her request: “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a
platter immediately.”
And the
king was exceeding
sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not
reject her.
The king was consumed with sorrow, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.
And immediately the
king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and
beheaded him in the prison,
So without delay, the
king commanded that John’s head be brought in. He sent an executioner, who went and
beheaded him in the prison.
And he said unto them,
Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the
kingdom of God come with power.
Then Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God arrive with power.”
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Jesus answered, “This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.”
And if thine eye
offend thee,
pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the
kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into
hell fire:
And if your eye causes you to sin,
pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the
kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into
hell,
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the
kingdom of God.
But when Jesus saw this, He was
indignant and told them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the
kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
Truly I tell you,
anyone who does not receive the
kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”
And the disciples were
astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the
kingdom of God!
And the disciples were
amazed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the
kingdom of God!
It is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the
kingdom of God.
It is easier for a
camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of God.”
Blessed be the
kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord:
Hosanna in the highest.
“Blessed is the coming
kingdom of our father David!” “
Hosanna in the highest!”
And when Jesus saw that he answered
discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the
kingdom of God. And no man after that
durst ask him any question.
When Jesus saw that the man had answered wisely, He said, “You are not far from the
kingdom of God.” And no one
dared to question Him any further.
For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against
kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in
divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
But take
heed to
yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and
kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
So be on your guard. You will be delivered over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the
kingdom of God.
Truly I tell you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it
anew in the
kingdom of God.”
And
Pilate asked him, Art thou the
King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
So
Pilate questioned Him, “Are You the
King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
But
Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the
King of the Jews?
“Do you want me to release to you the
King of the Jews?”
Pilate asked.
And
Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the
King of the Jews?
So
Pilate asked them again, “What then do you want me to do with the One you call the
King of the Jews?”
And they began to
salute Him: “
Hail,
King of the Jews!”
And the charge inscribed against Him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Let Christ the
King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were
crucified with him
reviled him.
Let the Christ, the
King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” And even those who were
crucified with Him
berated Him.
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the
kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto
Pilate, and
craved the body of Jesus.
Joseph of
Arimathea, a prominent Council member who himself was waiting for the
kingdom of God, boldly went to
Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.
There was in the days of Herod, the
king of Judaea, a certain priest named
Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
In the time of Herod
king of
Judea there was a priest named
Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of
Abijah, and whose wife Elizabeth was a daughter of Aaron.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of
salutation this should be.
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what
kind of
greeting this might be.
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
and He will reign over the house of Jacob
forever. His
kingdom will never end!”
And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”
But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their
kinsfolk and acquaintance.
Assuming He was in their company, they traveled on for a day before they began to look for Him among their relatives and friends.
And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Then the devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to
whomsoever I will I give it.
“I will give You authority over all these
kingdoms and all their glory,” he said. “For it has been
relinquished to me, and I can give it to
anyone I wish.
And he said unto them, I must
preach the
kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
But Jesus told them, “I must
preach the good news of the
kingdom of God to the other towns as well, because that is why I was sent.”
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
Looking up at His disciples, Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is
kind unto the
unthankful and to the evil.
But love your enemies, do good to them, and
lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is
kind to the
ungrateful and wicked.
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? Behold, they which are
gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in
kings courts.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear elegant clothing and live in
luxury are found in palaces.
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John, yet even the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
Now when the
Pharisee which had
bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a
sinner.
When the
Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, He would know who this is and what
kind of woman is touching Him—for she is a
sinner!”
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and
shewing the
glad tidings of the
kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
Soon afterward, Jesus traveled from one town and village to another, preaching and
proclaiming the good news of the
kingdom of God. The Twelve were with Him,
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, ‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’
And he sent them to
preach the
kingdom of God, and to
heal the sick.
And He sent them out to
proclaim the
kingdom of God and to
heal the sick.
And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the
kingdom of God, and
healed them that had need of
healing.
But the crowds found out and followed Him. He
welcomed them and spoke to them about the
kingdom of God, and He
healed those who needed
healing.
But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
But I tell you truthfully, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead
bury their dead: but go thou and
preach the
kingdom of God.
But Jesus told him, “Let the dead
bury their own dead. You, however, go and
proclaim the
kingdom of God.”
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the
plough, and looking back, is fit for the
kingdom of God.
Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the
plow and then looks back is fit for the
kingdom of God.”
And
heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The
kingdom of God is come
nigh unto you.
Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The
kingdom of God is near you.’
Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do
wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the
kingdom of God is come
nigh unto you.
‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we
wipe off as a testimony against you. Yet be sure of this: The
kingdom of God is near.’
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
So Jesus told them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father,
hallowed be Your name. Your
kingdom come.
But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every
kingdom divided against itself is brought to
desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and a house divided against a house will fall.
If
Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his
kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through
Beelzebub.
If
Satan is divided against himself, how can his
kingdom stand? After all, you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.
But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added unto you.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I if it be already
kindled?
I have come to
ignite a fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already
kindled!
Then said he, Unto what is the
kingdom of God like? and
whereunto shall I resemble it?
Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it?
Again He asked, “To what can I compare the kingdom of God?
There shall be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the
kingdom of God, and you
yourselves thrust out.
There will be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the
kingdom of God, but you
yourselves are thrown out.
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
People will come from east and west and north and south, and will
recline at the table in the
kingdom of God.
Then said he also to him that
bade him, When thou makest a
dinner or a
supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy
kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also
bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
Then Jesus said to the man who had invited Him, “When you host a
dinner or a
banquet, do not
invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbors. Otherwise, they may
invite you in return, and you will be repaid.
And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
When one of those
reclining with Him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is
everyone who will eat at the feast in the
kingdom of God.”
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or what
king on his way to war with another
king will not first sit down and consider whether he can
engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an
ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
And if he is unable, he will send a
delegation while the other
king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace.
And the lord
commended the unjust
steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the gospel of the
kingdom of God is being preached, and
everyone is forcing his way into it.
And when he was demanded of the
Pharisees, when the
kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The
kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
When asked by the
Pharisees when the
kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The
kingdom of God will not come with observable signs.
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the
kingdom of God.
But Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the
kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
Truly I tell you,
anyone who does not receive the
kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Seeing the man’s
sadness, Jesus said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the
kingdom of God!
For it is easier for a
camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the
kingdom of God.
Indeed, it is easier for a
camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of God.”
And he said unto them,
Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the
kingdom of God’s sake,
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God
And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was
nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the
kingdom of God should immediately appear.
While the people were
listening to this, Jesus proceeded to tell them a parable, because He was near Jerusalem and they thought the
kingdom of God would appear
imminently.
He said therefore, A certain
nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a
kingdom, and to return.
So He said, “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his
kingship and then return.
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
When he returned from
procuring his
kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had
earned.
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Then He told them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before
kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
But before all this, they will seize you and
persecute you. On account of My name they will deliver you to the synagogues and prisons, and they will bring you before
kings and governors.
And ye shall be
betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and
kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
You will be
betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death.
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the
kingdom of God is
nigh at hand.
So also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
For I tell you that I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”
And he said unto them, The
kings of the Gentiles exercise
lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
So Jesus declared, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors.
And I
appoint unto you a
kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
And I
bestow on you a
kingdom, just as My Father has bestowed one on Me,
That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And when they had
kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
When those present had
kindled a fire in the middle of the
courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
And they began to
accuse him, saying, We found this fellow
perverting the nation, and
forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a
King.
And
Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the
King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
So
Pilate asked Him, “Are You the
King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
And saying, If thou be the
king of the Jews, save
thyself.
“If You are the
King of the Jews,” they said, “save
Yourself!”
And a
superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE
KING OF THE JEWS.
Above Him was posted an inscription: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
