And they shall
amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the
damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
They are also to fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given a virgin of Israel a bad name. And she shall remain his wife; he must not
divorce her as
long as he lives.
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the
damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
then the man who lay with her must pay the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she must become his wife because he has
violated her. He must not
divorce her as
long as he lives.
Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
You are not to seek peace or prosperity from them as long as you live.
But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be
lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
You must maintain accurate and
honest weights and measures, so that you may live
long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, while your eyes grow
weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand.
Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of
long continuance, and
sore sicknesses, and of
long continuance.
He will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary disasters, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and
chronic sicknesses.
And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
he said to them, “I am now a hundred and twenty years old; I am no longer able to come and go, and the LORD has said to me, ‘You shall not cross the Jordan.’
And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as
long as ye live in the land
whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
Then their children who do not know the law will
listen and learn to fear the LORD your God, as
long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
Then my anger shall be
kindled against them in that day, and I will
forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be
devoured, and many evils and troubles shall
befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
On that day My anger will burn against them, and I will
abandon them and hide My face from them, so that they will be consumed, and many troubles and afflictions will
befall them. On that day they will say, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is no
longer with us?’
Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will
shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.
Remember the days of old; consider the years long past. Ask your father, and he will tell you, your elders, and they will inform you.
For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall
prolong your days in the land,
whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
For they are not idle words to you, because they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
Concerning Benjamin he said: “May the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him; God shields him all day long, and upon His shoulders he rests.”
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a
long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the
trumpet, all the people shall
shout with a great
shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall
ascend up every man straight before him.
And when there is a
long blast of the ram’s horn and you hear its sound, have all the people give a mighty
shout. Then the wall of the city will
collapse and all your people will charge straight into the city.”
Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were
accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the
accursed from among you.
This is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they themselves have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from among you whatever is devoted to destruction.
And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our
shoes are become old by reason of the very
long journey.
These wineskins were new when we filled them, but look, they are
cracked. And these clothes and
sandals are worn out from our very
long journey.”

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How
long are ye
slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

And it came to pass a
long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and
stricken in age.
A long time after the LORD had given Israel rest from all the enemies around them, when Joshua was old and well along in years,
Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and
traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
know for sure that the LORD your God will no
longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become for you a
snare and a
trap, a
scourge in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.
And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
And Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘
Long ago your fathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and
Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates and worshiped other gods.
And when they
cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a
long season.
So your fathers
cried out to the LORD, and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, over whom He brought the sea and
engulfed them. Your very eyes saw what I did to the Egyptians. Then you lived in the wilderness for a
long time.
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that
spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any
longer stand before their enemies.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of those who
plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no
longer able to resist.
I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died.
Yet ye have
forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
But you have
forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no
longer save you.
And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was
grieved for the misery of Israel.
So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
And
Eli said unto her, How
long wilt thou be
drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

long will you be
drunk? Put away your wine!”

handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more

mourned and sought after the LORD.
And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people

shouted, “
Long live the king!”
And the LORD said unto Samuel, How
long wilt thou
mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to
Jesse the
Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How
long are you going to
mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to
Jesse of
Bethlehem, for I have selected from his sons a king for Myself.”
And thou shalt not only while yet I live
shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
And as long as I live, treat me with the LORD’s loving devotion, that I may not die,
For as
long as the son of
Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and
fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
For as
long as the son of
Jesse lives on this earth, neither you nor your
kingship shall be established. Now send for him and bring him to me, for he must surely die!”
And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.

But the men were very good unto us, and we were not
hurt, neither missed we any thing, as
long as we were
conversant with them, when we were in the fields:
Yet these men were very good to us. When we were in the field, we were not
harassed, and nothing of ours went missing the whole time we lived among them.
I pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of thine
handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.
Please
forgive your servant’s
offense, for the LORD will surely make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because he fights the LORD’s battles. May no evil be found in you as
long as you live.

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am
sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” “I am deeply distressed,” replied Saul. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”
And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
“But what have I done?” David replied. “What have you found against your servant, from the day I came to you until
today, to keep me from going along to fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
Ye mountains of
Gilboa, let there be no
dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is
vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been
anointed with oil.
O mountains of
Gilboa, may you have no
dew or rain, no fields yielding offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty was
defiled, the shield of Saul, no
longer anointed with oil.
Then
Abner called to
Joab, and said, Shall the sword
devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how
long shall it be then,
ere thou
bid the people return from following their brethren?
Then
Abner called out to
Joab: “Must the sword
devour forever? Do you not
realize that this will only end in bitterness? How
long before you tell the troops to stop pursuing their brothers?”
So
Joab blew a
trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
So
Joab blew the ram’s horn, and all the troops stopped; they no
longer pursued Israel or continued to fight.
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

Moreover I will
appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness
afflict them any more, as
beforetime,
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No
longer will the sons of wickedness
oppress them as they did at the beginning
And the soul of king David
longed to go forth unto
Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

Now
Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward
Absalom.
Now

So
Joab sent to Tekoa to bring a wise woman from there. He told her, “Please pretend to be a

mourning and do not
anoint yourself with oil. Act like a woman who has
mourned for the dead a
long time.

widowhood.

longer slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.

Bethlehem!”
For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and
Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.
For
today he has gone down and sacrificed an abundance of oxen,
fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and
Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, saying, ‘
Long live King Adonijah!’
And let
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet
anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the

Long live King Solomon!”

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for
thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for
thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for
thyself understanding to
discern judgment;
So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this instead of requesting
long life or wealth for
yourself or death for your enemies—but you have asked for
discernment to
administer justice—

And the main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long.

cedar.

One wing of the first
cherub was five cubits
long, and the other wing was five cubits
long as well. So the full wingspan was ten cubits.

long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him. But if
Baal is God, follow him.” But the people did not answer a word.

Jezebel heard that
Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that
Jezebel said to
Ahab, Arise, take possession of the
vineyard of
Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for
Naboth is not alive, but dead.
When
Jezebel heard that
Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to
Ahab, “Get up and take possession of the
vineyard of
Naboth the Jezreelite, who refused to give it to you for silver. For
Naboth is no
longer alive, but dead.”
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have
healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
and
Elisha went out to the spring, cast the salt into it, and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘I have
healed this water. No
longer will it cause death or unfruitfulness.’”
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an
ass’s head was sold for
fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a
cab of
dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any
longer?

calamity is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any
longer?”

And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and
anointed him; and they
clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

anointed him, and the people
clapped their hands and declared, “
Long live the king!”
Hast thou not heard
long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste
fenced cities into
ruinous heaps.
Have you not heard?
Long ago I ordained it; in days of old I
planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should
crush fortified cities into piles of
rubble.
And David
longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of
Bethlehem, that is at the gate!
David
longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of
Bethlehem!”
Also I will
ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No
longer will the sons of wickedness
oppress them as they did at the beginning
And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
So now the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles for its service.”
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked
long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for
thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—and since you have not even requested
long life but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to
govern My people over whom I have made you king—
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was
threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
And the
porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
The
portico at the front, extending across the width of the temple, was twenty cubits
long and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
And he made the most holy house, the length
whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of fine gold.
And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits
long: one wing of the one
cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other
cherub.

cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first
cherub was five cubits
long and touched the wall of the temple, and its other wing was five cubits
long and touched the wing of the other
cherub.
Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.
He made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.
For Solomon had made a
brasen scaffold, of five cubits
long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and
kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
Now Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits
long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had placed it in the middle of the
courtyard. He stood on it,
knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
so that they may fear You and walk in Your ways all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.
Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
For many years Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to
instruct them, and without the law.
Then they brought out the king’s son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons
anointed him, and said, God save the king.
Then Jehoiada and his sons brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, presented him with the Testimony, and proclaimed him king. They
anointed him and
shouted, “
Long live the king!”
And he sought God in the days of
Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as
long as he sought the LORD, God made him to
prosper.
He sought God throughout the days of
Zechariah, who
instructed him in the fear of God. And as
long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.
So they established a decree to make
proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-
sheba even to
Dan, that they should come to keep the
passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a
long time in such sort as it was written.
So they established a decree to
circulate a
proclamation throughout Israel, from
Beersheba to
Dan, that the people should come to keep the
Passover of the LORD, the God of Israel, in Jerusalem. For they had not observed it as a nation as prescribed.
To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as
long as she lay
desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil
threescore and ten years.
So the land enjoyed its Sabbath rest all the days of the
desolation, until seventy years were completed, in
fulfillment of the word of the LORD through Jeremiah.
