And the thing was very
grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.
Now this
matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son
Ishmael.
And the servant put his hand under the
thigh of Abraham his master, and
sware to him concerning that
matter.
So the servant placed his hand under the
thigh of his master Abraham and
swore an oath to him concerning this
matter.
Then
Laban and
Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.
Laban and
Bethuel answered, “This is from the LORD; we have no choice in the
matter.
And she said unto her, Is it a small
matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And
Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes.
But Leah replied, “Is it not enough that you have taken away my husband? Now you want to take my son’s mandrakes as well?” “Very well,” said
Rachel, “he may sleep with you
tonight in exchange for your son’s mandrakes.”
And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
Moreover, because the dream was given to Pharaoh in two versions, the matter has been decreed by God, and He will carry it out shortly.
Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to
slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of
Midian: and he sat down by a well.
When Pharaoh heard about this
matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of
Midian, where he sat down beside a well.
When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.
“Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me to judge between one man and another, and I make known to them the statutes and laws of God.”
And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great
matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small
matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for
thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
Have these men judge the people at all times. Then they can bring you any major issue, but all minor cases they can judge on their own, so that your load may be
lightened as they share it with you.
And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.
And they judged the people at all times; they would bring the difficult cases to Moses, but any minor issue they would judge themselves.
Keep thee far from a false
matter; and the innocent and righteous
slay thou not: for I will not
justify the wicked.
Stay far away from a false
accusation. Do not kill the innocent or the just, for I will not
acquit the guilty.
And he said unto the elders,
Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any
matters to do, let him come unto them.
And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you.
Whoever has a dispute can go to them.”
And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be
hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
Now if the whole congregation of Israel strays
unintentionally and the
matter escapes the notice of the assembly so that they
violate any of the LORD’s commandments and
incur guilt by doing what is forbidden,
Or if a soul
swear,
pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good,
whatsoever it be that a man shall
pronounce with an oath, and it be
hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.
Or if someone swears
thoughtlessly with his lips to do anything good or evil—in whatever
matter a man may
rashly pronounce an oath—even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is guilty in the
matter.
According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
This is how you must prepare each one, no matter how many.
Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the
matter of
Korah.
But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who had died on account of
Korah.
For they
vex you with their wiles,
wherewith they have
beguiled you in the
matter of Peor, and in the
matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of
Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.
For they
assailed you
deceitfully when they
seduced you in the
matter of Peor and their sister Cozbi, the daughter of the Midianite leader, the woman who was killed on the day the plague came because of Peor.”
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to commit
trespass against the LORD in the
matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
“Look, these women caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to turn unfaithfully against the LORD at Peor, so that the plague struck the congregation of the LORD.
But the LORD was
wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this
matter.
But the LORD was
angry with me on account of you, and He would not
listen to me. “That is enough,” the LORD said to me. “Do not speak to Me again about this
matter.
If there arise a
matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between
plea and
plea, and between stroke and stroke, being
matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;
If a case is too difficult for you to judge, whether the controversy within your gates is regarding
bloodshed, lawsuits, or assaults, you must go up to the place the LORD your God will choose.
One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
A
lone witness is not sufficient to establish any
wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what
offense he may have committed. A
matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
But unto the
damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the
damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this
matter:
Do nothing to the young woman, because she has committed no sin worthy of death. This case is just like one in which a man attacks his
neighbor and murders him.
And they
cried unto the children of
Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto
Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?
When they called out after them, the Danites turned to face them and said to
Micah, “What is the
matter with you that you have called out such a company?”
And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?
He replied, “You took the gods I had made, and my priest, and went away. What else do I have? How can you say to me, ‘What is the matter with you?’”
Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
“Wait, my daughter,” said
Naomi, “until you find out how things go, for he will not rest unless he has resolved the
matter today.”
Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning
redeeming and concerning changing, for to
confirm all things; a man
plucked off his
shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
Now in former times in Israel, concerning the
redemption or exchange of property, to make any
matter legally binding a man would remove his
sandal and give it to the other party, and this was a
confirmation in Israel.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the
asses were found. But of the
matter of the kingdom,
whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
And Saul replied, “He
assured us that the
donkeys had been found.” But Saul did not tell his uncle what Samuel had said about the
kingship.
Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of
Jesse the
Bethlehemite, that is
cunning in playing, and a mighty
valiant man, and a man of war, and
prudent in
matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of
Jesse of
Bethlehem who knows how to play the
harp. He is a mighty man of
valor, a
warrior,
eloquent and handsome, and the LORD is with him.”
And he said unto him, God
forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will
shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
“Far from it!”
Jonathan replied. “You will not die. Indeed, my father does nothing, great or small, without telling me. So why would he hide this
matter from me? This cannot be true!”
And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.
And as for the
matter you and I have discussed, the LORD is a witness between you and me
forever.”
But the
lad knew not any thing: only
Jonathan and David knew the
matter.
But the boy did not know anything; only
Jonathan and David knew the arrangement.
For who will
hearken unto you in this
matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
Who will
listen to your proposal? The share of the one who went to battle will
match the share of the one who stayed with the supplies. They will share alike.”
And David said unto him, How went the
matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and
Jonathan his son are dead also.
“What was the outcome?” David asked. “Please tell me.” “The troops fled from the battle,” he replied. “Many of them fell and died. And Saul and his son
Jonathan are also dead.”
And charged the
messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the
matters of the war unto the king,
and
instructed the
messenger, “When you have finished giving the king all the details of the battle,
Then David said unto the
messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto
Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and
encourage thou him.
Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy
handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his
handmaid.
Now therefore, I have come to present this
matter to my lord the king because the people have made me afraid. Your servant thought, ‘I will speak to the king. Perhaps he will grant the request of his
maidservant.
And
Absalom said unto him, See, thy
matters are good and right; but there is no man
deputed of the king to hear thee.
Absalom would say, “Look, your claims are good and right, but the king has no deputy to hear you.”
And with
Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.
Two hundred men from Jerusalem accompanied
Absalom. They had been invited as guests and they went along innocently, for they knew nothing about the
matter.
Otherwise I should have wrought
falsehood against mine own life: for there is no
matter hid from the king, and thou
thyself wouldest have set
thyself against me.
If I had
jeopardized my own life—and nothing is hidden from the king—you would have abandoned me.”
But
howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then
Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi.
“No
matter what, I want to run!” he replied. “Then run!”
Joab told him. So
Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and outran the
Cushite.
And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.
The king replied, “Why say any more? I
hereby declare that you and Ziba are to divide the land.”
And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of
kin to us: wherefore then be ye
angry for this
matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
And all the men of Judah replied to the men of Israel, “We did this because the king is our relative. Why does this anger you? Have we ever eaten at the king’s expense or received anything for ourselves?”
Then she spake, saying, They were
wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at
Abel: and so they ended the
matter.
Then the woman said, “Long ago they used to say, ‘Seek counsel at
Abel,’ and that is how disputes were settled.
The
matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim,
Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto
Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
That is not the case. But a man named
Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him alone, and I will depart from the city.” “Look,” the woman replied, “his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
And let these my words,
wherewith I have made
supplication before the LORD, be
nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the
matter shall require:
And may these words with which I have made my petition before the LORD be near to the LORD our God day and night, so that He may
uphold the cause of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,
Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.
This is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD, and He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
In this thing the LORD
pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of
Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of
Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of
Rimmon, the LORD
pardon thy servant in this thing.
Yet may the LORD
forgive your servant this one thing: When my master goes into the temple of
Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my arm, and I bow down in the temple of
Rimmon, may the LORD
forgive your servant in this
matter.”
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to
morrow.
Then the king asked her, “What is the
matter?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him, and
tomorrow we will eat my son.’
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, for every
matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh for every
matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king.
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
This is the list of the Israelites—the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in every
matter concerning the divisions on
rotating military duty each month throughout the year. There were 24,000 men in each division:
And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.
They did not turn aside from the king’s command regarding the priests or the Levites or any
matter concerning the
treasuries.
For the eyes of the LORD run to and
fro throughout the whole earth, to
shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
Herein thou hast done
foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
For the eyes of the LORD
roam to and
fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. You have acted
foolishly in this
matter. From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”
Then
Asa was
wroth with the
seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a
rage with him because of this thing. And
Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all
matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of
Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s
matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal
courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.
Note that Amariah, the chief priest, will be over you in all that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah son of
Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all that pertains to the king. And the Levites will serve as officers before you. Act
resolutely; may the LORD be with the upright!”
And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye
hasten the
matter.
Howbeit the Levites
hastened it not.
So he gathered the priests and Levites and said, “Go out to the cities of Judah and collect the money due annually from all Israel, to repair the house of your God. Do it quickly.” The Levites, however, did not make
haste.
Take
heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the
hurt of the kings?
See that you do not neglect this
matter. Why allow this
threat to increase and the royal interests to suffer?
But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the
matter came to
Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this
matter.
But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, so that they were not stopped until a report was sent to
Darius and written instructions about this
matter were returned.
Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s
treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this
matter.
Now, therefore, if it pleases the king, let a search be made of the royal
archives in Babylon to see if King Cyrus did indeed issue a decree to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. Then let the king send us his decision in this
matter.
Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
Get up, for this
matter is your
responsibility, and we will support you. Be strong and take action!”
Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the
twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God,
trembling because of this
matter, and for the great rain.
So within the three days, all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem, and on the
twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people sat in the square at the house of God,
trembling regarding this
matter and because of the heavy rain.
But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have
transgressed in this thing.
But there are many people here, and it is the
rainy season. We are not able to stay out in the open. Nor is this the work of one or two days, for we have
transgressed greatly in this
matter.
Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
Let our leaders represent the whole assembly. Then let
everyone in our towns who has married a foreign woman come at an appointed time, together with the elders and judges of each town, until the fierce anger of our God in this
matter is turned away from us.”
Only
Jonathan the son of
Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this
matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the
Levite helped them.
(Only
Jonathan son of
Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai the
Levite, opposed this plan.)
And the children of the captivity did so. And
Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the
matter.
So the exiles did as proposed.
Ezra the priest selected men who were family heads, each of them identified by name, to represent their families. On the first day of the tenth month they
launched the investigation,
Therefore was he
hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have
matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
He had been
hired to
intimidate me so that I would sin by doing as he suggested, so they could give me a bad name in order to discredit me.
And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.
Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a
descendant of Zerah son of Judah, was the king’s agent in every
matter concerning the people.
Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did
outlandish women cause to sin.
Did not King Solomon of Israel sin in matters like this? There was not a king like him among many nations, and he was loved by his God, who made him king over all Israel—yet foreign women drew him into sin.
And when
inquisition was made of the
matter, it was found out; therefore they were both
hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
After the report had been investigated and
verified, both officials were
hanged on the
gallows. And all this was recorded in the Book of the Chronicles in the presence of the king.
Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he
hearkened not unto them, that they told
Haman, to see whether
Mordecai’s
matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a
Jew.
And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by
Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
“If it pleases the king,” she said, “and if I have found favor in his sight, and the
matter seems proper to the king, and I am pleasing in his sight, may an order be written to
revoke the letters that the scheming
Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces.
Wherefore they called these days
Purim after the name of
Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this
matter, and which had come unto them,
Therefore these days are called
Purim, from the word
Pur. Because of all the instructions in this letter, and because of all they had seen and experienced,
To
confirm these days of
Purim in their times appointed, according as
Mordecai the
Jew and
Esther the queen had
enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the
matters of the fastings and their cry.
in order to
confirm these days of
Purim at their appointed time, just as
Mordecai the
Jew and Queen
Esther had established them and had committed themselves and their descendants to the times of fasting and
lamentation.
And the decree of
Esther confirmed these
matters of
Purim; and it was written in the book.
So
Esther’s decree confirmed these regulations about
Purim, which were written into the record.
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to
plead?
If it is a
matter of strength, He is indeed mighty! If it is a
matter of justice, who can
summon Him?
But ye should say, Why
persecute we him, seeing the root of the
matter is found in me?
If you say, ‘Let us
persecute him, since the root of the
matter lies with him,’
For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
For I am full of words, and my spirit within me compels me.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
Behold, you are not right in this matter. I will answer you, for God is greater than man.
Why
dost thou
strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his
matters.
Why do you
complain to Him that He answers nothing a man asks?
For they speak not peace: but they
devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
For they do not speak peace, but they
devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land.
My heart is
inditing a good
matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
My heart is
stirred by a noble
theme as I
recite my verses to the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
They
encourage themselves in an evil
matter: they commune of laying snares
privily; they say, Who shall see them?
They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say.
LORD, my heart is not
haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great
matters, or in things too high for me.
My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not
haughty. I do not
aspire to great things or
matters too lofty for me.
A
talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the
matter.
He that handleth a
matter wisely shall find good: and
whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
Whoever heeds instruction will find success, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
He that covereth a
transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a
matter separateth very friends.
Whoever conceals an
offense promotes love, but he who brings it up separates friends.
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
He who answers a matter before he hears it— this is folly and disgrace to him.
It is the glory of God to
conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a
matter.
It is the glory of God to
conceal a
matter and the glory of kings to search it out.
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent
perverting of judgment and justice in a province,
marvel not at the
matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
If you see the oppression of the poor and the
denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be
astonished at the
matter; for one official is watched by a superior, and others higher still are over them.
If a man
beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.
A man may father a hundred children and live for many years; yet no
matter how long he lives, if he is unsatisfied with his prosperity and does not even receive a proper burial, I say that a
stillborn child is better off than he.
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
The end of a matter is better than the beginning, and a patient spirit is better than a proud one.
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to
shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
Who is like the wise man? Who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed.
Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and
curse not the rich in thy
bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the
matter.
Do not
curse the king even in your thoughts, or
curse the rich even in your
bedroom, for a bird of the air may carry your words, and a winged creature may report your speech.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.
Put me in
remembrance: let us
plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
Remind Me, let us
argue the
matter together. State your case, so that you may be
vindicated.
Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
When all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him, he relayed to them the exact words the king had commanded him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had overheard the conversation.
And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the
inkhorn by his side, reported the
matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.
Then the man clothed in linen with the writing
kit at his side reported back, “I have done as You commanded.”
Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be
