And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the
open firmament of heaven.
And God said, “Let the waters
teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the
open expanse of the sky.”
For God
doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
And the eyes of them both were
opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they
sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
And the eyes of both of them were
opened, and they knew that they were naked; so they
sewed together fig leaves and made coverings for themselves.
And now art thou
cursed from the earth, which hath
opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
Now you are
cursed and banished from the ground, which has
opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
In the six
hundredth year of
Noah’s life, in the second month, the
seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were
opened.
In the six
hundredth year of
Noah’s life, on the
seventeenth day of the second month, all the fountains of the great deep
burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were
opened.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that
Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:
After forty days
Noah opened the window he had made in the ark
And God
opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the
bottle with water, and gave the
lad drink.
Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
And when the LORD saw that Leah was
hated, he
opened her
womb: but
Rachel was barren.
When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He
opened her
womb; but
Rachel was barren.
And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.
You may settle among us, and the land will be open to you. Live here, move about freely, and acquire your own property.”
And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a
vail, and
wrapped herself, and sat in an
open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
she removed her widow’s garments, covered her face with a
veil to
disguise herself, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. For she saw that although Shelah had grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.
Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the
harlot, that was
openly by the way side? And they said, There was no
harlot in this place.
And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it
budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
and on the vine were three branches. As it
budded, its blossoms
opened and its clusters
ripened into grapes.
And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph
opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed
sore in the land of Egypt.
When the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened up all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians; for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt.
And as one of them
opened his
sack to give his
ass provender in the inn, he
espied his money; for, behold, it was in his
sack’s mouth.
At the place where they
lodged for the night, one of them
opened his
sack to get feed for his
donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of the
sack.
And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we
opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his
sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
But when we came to the place we
lodged for the night, we
opened our sacks and, behold, each of us found his silver in the mouth of his
sack! It was the full amount of our silver, and we have brought it back with us.
Then they speedily took down every man his
sack to the ground, and
opened every man his
sack.
So each one quickly lowered his
sack to the ground and
opened it.
And when she had
opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the
babe wept. And she had
compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
When she
opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the little boy was crying. So she had
compassion on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrew children.”
That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that
openeth the
matrix, and every
firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD’S.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD
slew all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the
firstborn of man, and the
firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that
openeth the
matrix, being males; but all the
firstborn of my children I
redeem.
And when Pharaoh
stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of man and beast. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the
firstborn male of every
womb, but I
redeem all the
firstborn of my sons.’
And if a man shall
open a pit, or if a man shall
dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an
ass fall therein;
If a man
opens or digs a pit and fails to cover it, and an ox or a
donkey falls into it,
And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of
woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an
habergeon, that it be not rent.
with an
opening at its top in the center. Around the
opening shall be a
woven collar with an
opening like that of a garment, so that it will not
tear.
All that
openeth the
matrix is mine; and every
firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
The first offspring of every
womb belongs to Me, including all the
firstborn males among your
livestock, whether cattle or sheep.
And there was an hole in the midst of the
robe, as the hole of an
habergeon, with a band round about the hole, that it should not
rend.
with an
opening in the center of the
robe like that of a garment, with a
collar around the
opening so that it would not
tear.
And he shall
cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it
asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
He shall
tear it
open by its wings, without dividing the bird completely. And the priest is to burn it on the altar
atop the burning wood. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
And he shall
sprinkle upon him that is to be
cleansed from the
leprosy seven times, and shall
pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the
open field.
Seven times he shall
sprinkle the one to be
cleansed of the skin disease. Then he shall
pronounce him clean and release the live bird into the
open field.
But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the
open fields, and make an
atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.
Finally, he is to release the live bird into the
open fields outside the city. In this way he will make
atonement for the house, and it will be clean.
To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.
For this reason the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they have been offering in the open fields. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and offer them as sacrifices of peace to the LORD.
But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.
But houses in villages with no walls around them are to be considered as
open fields. They may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the
Jubilee.
But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
But the open pastureland around their cities may not be sold, for this is their permanent possession.
And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the
firstborn that
openeth the
matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
“Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel in place of every
firstborn Israelite from the
womb. The Levites belong to Me,
For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as
open every
womb, even instead of the
firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
For the Levites have been wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself in place of all who come first from the
womb, the
firstborn of all the sons of Israel.
And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
Is the land where they live good or bad? Are the cities where they dwell open camps or fortifications?
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth
open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that
appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have
provoked the LORD.
But if the LORD brings about something
unprecedented, and the earth
opens its mouth and
swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into
Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.”
And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground
clave asunder that was under them:
As soon as Moses had finished saying all this, the ground beneath them split open,
And the earth
opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that
appertained unto
Korah, and all their goods.
and the earth
opened its mouth and
swallowed them and their households—all
Korah’s men and all their possessions.
Every thing that
openeth the
matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the
firstborn of man shalt thou surely
redeem, and the
firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou
redeem.
The
firstborn of every
womb, whether man or beast, that is offered to the LORD belongs to you. But you must surely
redeem every
firstborn son and every
firstborn male of unclean animals.
And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.
and any
open container without a
lid fastened on it is unclean.
And
whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the
open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
Anyone in the
open field who touches someone who has been killed by the sword or has died of natural causes, or
anyone who touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.
And the LORD
opened the mouth of the
ass, and she said unto
Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast
smitten me these three times?
Then the LORD
opened the
donkey’s mouth, and she said to
Balaam, “What have I done to you that you have beaten me these three times?”
Then the LORD
opened the eyes of
Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
Then the LORD
opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand. And
Balaam bowed low and fell facedown.
And he took up his parable, and said,
Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are
open hath said:
and he lifted up an
oracle, saying: “This is the prophecy of
Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of a man whose eyes are
open,
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes
open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide
open:
And he took up his parable, and said,
Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are
open hath said:
Then
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying, “This is the prophecy of
Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of a man whose eyes are
open,
He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes
open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide
open:
And the earth
opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up together with
Korah, when that company died, what time the fire
devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
And the earth
opened its mouth and
swallowed them along with
Korah, whose followers died when the fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a
warning sign.
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth
opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth
opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.
But thou shalt
open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely
lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
Instead, you are to
open your hand to him and freely
loan him whatever he needs.
For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt
open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy
needy, in thy land.
For there will never cease to be poor in the land; that is why I am commanding you to
open wide your hand to your brother and to the poor and
needy in your land.
And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
If they accept your offer of peace and open their gates, all the people there will become forced laborers to serve you.
But if a man find a
betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
But if the man encounters a
betrothed woman in the
open country, and he overpowers her and lies with her, only the man who has done this must die.
The LORD shall
open unto thee his good
treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to
bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt
lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not
borrow.
The LORD will
open the heavens, His abundant
storehouse, to send rain on your land in season and to
bless all the work of your hands. You will
lend to many nations, but
borrow from none.
And there was not a man left in
Ai or
Bethel, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city
open, and pursued after Israel.
Not a man was left in
Ai or
Bethel who did not go out after Israel, leaving the city wide
open while they pursued Israel.
Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me.”
And they
tarried till they were
ashamed: and, behold, he
opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and
opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
So they waited until they became
worried and saw that he had still not
opened the doors of the upper room. Then they took the key and
opened the doors—and there was their lord lying dead on the floor.
And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am
thirsty. And she
opened a
bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
Sisera said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am
thirsty.” So she
opened a container of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him again.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said,
Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have
opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
As soon as
Jephthah saw her, he
tore his clothes and said, “No! Not my daughter! You have brought me to my knees! You have brought great misery upon me, for I have given my word to the LORD and cannot take it back.”
And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast
opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth;
forasmuch as the LORD hath taken
vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of
Ammon.
“My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me as you have said, for the LORD has
avenged you of your enemies, the
Ammonites.”
But God
clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water
thereout; and when he had
drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
So God
opened up the hollow place in Lehi, and water came out of it. When
Samson drank, his strength returned, and he was revived. That is why he named it En-hakkore, and it remains in Lehi to this day.
And her lord rose up in the morning, and
opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his
concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the
threshold.
In the morning, when her master got up and
opened the doors of the house to go out on his journey, there was his
concubine,
collapsed in the
doorway of the house, with her hands on the
threshold.
And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before
Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no
open vision.
And the boy Samuel ministered to the LORD before
Eli. Now in those days the word of the LORD was rare and visions were
scarce.
And Samuel lay until the morning, and
opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to
shew Eli the vision.
Samuel lay down until the morning; then he
opened the doors of the house of the LORD. He was afraid to tell
Eli the vision,
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and
Ish-
tob, and
Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance of the city gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of
Tob and
Maacah were by themselves in the
open country.
And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah,
abide in tents; and my lord
Joab, and the servants of my lord, are
encamped in the
open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
Uriah answered, “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my master
Joab and his soldiers are camped in the
open field. How can I go to my house to eat and drink and sleep with my wife? As surely as you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do such a thing!”
He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
He brought me out into the
open; He
rescued me because He delighted in me.
And the
cedar of the house within was carved with knops and
open flowers: all was
cedar; there was no stone seen.
The
cedar paneling inside the temple was carved with gourds and
open flowers. Everything was
cedar; not a stone could be seen.
And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.
Then he carved the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer
sanctuaries, with carved engravings of
cherubim, palm trees, and
open flowers.
The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.
The double doors were made of olive wood, and he carved into them
cherubim, palm trees, and
open flowers and overlaid the
cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold.
And he carved
thereon cherubims and palm trees and
open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.
He carved into them
cherubim, palm trees, and
open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold, hammered evenly over the carvings.
And all the doors and posts were square, with the windows: and light was against light in three ranks.
All the doorways had rectangular frames, with the openings facing one another in three tiers.
And the mouth of it within the
chapiter and above was a
cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a
cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders,
foursquare, not round.
The
opening to each stand inside the crown at the top was one
cubit deep, with a round
opening like the design of a
pedestal, a
cubit and a half wide. And around its
opening were engravings, but the panels of the stands were square, not round.
That thine eyes may be
open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest
hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
That thine eyes may be
open unto the
supplication of thy servant, and unto the
supplication of thy people Israel, to
hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.
May Your eyes be
open to the pleas of Your servant and of Your people Israel, and may You
listen to them whenever they call to You.
And it came to pass at that time when
Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had
clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
During that time, the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite met
Jeroboam on the road as he was going out of Jerusalem. Now
Ahijah had
wrapped himself in a new
cloak, and the two of them were alone in the
open field.
And he
cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I
sojourn, by
slaying her son?
Then he
cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has
opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”
Then he returned, and walked in the house to and
fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child
sneezed seven times, and the child
opened his eyes.
Elisha turned away and
paced back and forth across the room. Then he got on the bed and stretched himself out over the boy again, and the boy
sneezed seven times and
opened his eyes.
And
Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee,
open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD
opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and
chariots of fire round about
Elisha.
Then
Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please
open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD
opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and
chariots of fire all around
Elisha.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that
Elisha said, LORD,
open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD
opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
When they had entered Samaria,
Elisha said, “O LORD,
open the eyes of these men that they may see.” Then the LORD
opened their eyes, and they looked around and discovered that they were in Samaria.
And
Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou
wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds
wilt thou set on fire, and their young men
wilt thou
slay with the sword, and
wilt dash their children, and
rip up their women with child.
“Why is my lord
weeping?” asked
Hazael. “Because I know the evil you will do to the Israelites,”
Elisha replied. “You will set fire to their fortresses, kill their young men with the sword,
dash their little ones to pieces, and
rip open their
pregnant women.”
Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have
anointed thee king over Israel. Then
open the door, and
flee, and
tarry not.
Then take the
flask of oil, pour it on his head, and declare, ‘This is what the LORD says: I
anoint you king over Israel.’ Then
open the door and run. Do not delay!”
And the dogs shall eat
Jezebel in the portion of
Jezreel, and there shall be none to
bury her. And he
opened the door, and fled.
And on the plot of ground at
Jezreel the dogs will
devour Jezebel, and there will be no one to
bury her.’” Then the young prophet
opened the door and ran.
And he said,
Open the window eastward. And he
opened it. Then
Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The
arrow of the LORD’S
deliverance, and the
arrow of
deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt
smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
“
Open the east window,” said
Elisha. So he
opened it and
Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And
Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s
arrow of victory, the
arrow of victory over
Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”
Then Menahem
smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they
opened not to him, therefore he
smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he
ripped up.
At that time Menahem, starting from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and
everyone in its vicinity, because they would not
open their gates. So he attacked Tiphsah and
ripped open all the
pregnant women.
LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear:
open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of
Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.
And they
lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the
opening thereof every morning
pertained to them.
They would
spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and
opening it every morning.
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance to the city, while the kings who had come stayed by themselves in the
open country.
That thine eyes may be
open upon this house day and night, upon the place
whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to
hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your Name, so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
Now, my God, let, I
beseech thee, thine eyes be
open, and let thine ears be
attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Now, my God, may Your eyes be
open and Your ears
attentive to the prayer offered in this place.
Now mine eyes shall be
open, and mine ears
attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Now My eyes will be
open and My ears
attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
In the first month of the first year of his reign,
Hezekiah opened and repaired the doors of the house of the LORD.
But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have
transgressed in this thing.
But there are many people here, and it is the
rainy season. We are not able to stay out in the
open. Nor is this the work of one or two days, for we have
transgressed greatly in this matter.
Let thine ear now be
attentive, and thine eyes
open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and
confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have
sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have
sinned.
let Your eyes be
open and Your ears
attentive to hear the prayer that I, Your servant, now pray before You day and night for Your servants, the Israelites. I
confess the sins that we Israelites have committed against You. Both I and my father’s house have
sinned.
Then sent
Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an
open letter in his hand;
The fifth time,
Sanballat sent me this same message by his young servant, who had in his hand an unsealed letter
And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be
opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and
appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.

And
Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he

Ezra opened the book in full view of all the people, since he was standing above them all, and as he
opened it, all the people stood up.
And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.

opened his mouth and
cursed the day of his birth.
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

What He tears down cannot be rebuilt; the man He imprisons cannot be released.
