Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have
sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his
testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
Because you burned incense and
sinned against the LORD, and did not obey the voice of the LORD or walk in His instruction, His statutes, and His
testimonies, this
disaster has
befallen you, as you see
today.”
For was not Israel a
derision unto thee? was he found among
thieves? for
since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.
Was not Israel your object of
ridicule? Was he ever found among
thieves? For whenever you speak of him you
shake your head.
All who found them
devoured them, and their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty, for they have
sinned against the LORD, their true pasture, the LORD, the hope of their fathers.’
Put
yourselves in
array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her,
spare no arrows: for she hath
sinned against the LORD.
Line up in formation around Babylon, all you who draw the bow! Shoot at her!
Spare no arrows! For she has
sinned against the LORD.
Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the
vengeance of the LORD: take
vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.
Raise a war cry against her on every side! She has thrown up her hands in surrender; her towers have fallen; her walls are
torn down.
Since this is the
vengeance of the LORD, take out your
vengeance upon her; as she has done, do the same to her.
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the
sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will
pardon them whom I reserve.
In those days and at that time, declares the LORD, a search will be made for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for Judah’s
sins, but they will not be found; for I will
forgive the
remnant I preserve.
For Israel hath not been
forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with
sin against the Holy One of Israel.
For Israel and Judah have not been abandoned by their God, the LORD of Hosts, though their land is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel.”
Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.
Then heaven and earth and all that is in them will
shout for joy over Babylon because the destroyers from the north will come against her,” declares the LORD.
So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
Jeremiah had written on a
single scroll about all the
disaster that would come upon Babylon—all these words that had been written concerning Babylon.
And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon
sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be
weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
Then you are to say, ‘In the same way Babylon will
sink and never rise again, because of the
disaster I will bring upon her. And her people will grow
weary.’” Here end the words of Jeremiah.
Jerusalem hath
grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her
despise her, because they have seen her nakedness:
yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
Jerusalem has
sinned greatly; therefore she has become an object of
scorn. All who honored her now
despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns away.
Wherefore
doth a living man
complain, a man for the punishment of his
sins?
For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the
sin of
Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.
The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than that of
Sodom, which was overthrown in an instant without a hand turned to help her.
For the
sins of her prophets, and the
iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,
But this was for the sins of her prophets and the guilt of her priests, who shed the blood of the righteous in her midst.
The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of
Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of
Edom; he will discover thy
sins.
O Daughter of
Zion, your punishment is complete; He will not
prolong your exile. But He will
punish your iniquity, O Daughter of
Edom; He will
expose your
sins.
Our fathers
sinned and are no more, but we bear their punishment.
The crown is fallen from our head:
woe unto us, that we have
sinned!
The crown has fallen from our head.
Woe to us, for we have
sinned!
But the house of Israel will be unwilling to
listen to you,
since they are unwilling to
listen to Me. For the whole house of Israel is hard-headed and hard-hearted.
Again, When a righteous man
doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him
warning, he shall die in his
sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Now if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I put a
stumbling block before him, he will die. If you did not
warn him, he will die in his
sin, and the righteous acts he did will not be remembered. And I will hold you responsible for his blood.
Nevertheless if thou
warn the righteous man, that the righteous
sin not, and he
doth not
sin, he shall surely live, because he is
warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.
But if you
warn the righteous man not to
sin, and he does not
sin, he will indeed live because he
heeded your
warning, and you will have saved
yourself.”
Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and
millet, and
fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and
ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.
But take wheat, barley, beans, lentils,
millet, and
spelt; put them in a
single container and make them into bread for
yourself. This is what you are to eat during the 390 days you lie on your side.
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the
stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh,
Son of man, when the land
sinneth against me by
trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
“Son of man, if a land sins against Me by acting unfaithfully, and I stretch out My hand against it to cut off its supply of food, to send famine upon it, and to cut off from it both man and beast,
Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half the
sins you did. You have multiplied your abominations beyond theirs, and all the abominations you have committed have made your sisters appear righteous.
Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy
sins that thou hast committed more
abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou:
yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
So now you must bear your disgrace,
since you have brought
justification for your sisters. For they appear more righteous than you, because your
sins were more
vile than theirs. So you too must bear your shame and disgrace,
since you have made your sisters appear righteous.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast
despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to your deeds,
since you have
despised the oath by breaking the covenant.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Behold, every soul belongs to Me; both father and son are Mine. The soul who sins is the one who will die.
Hath given forth upon
usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
He engages in
usury and takes excess interest. Will this son live? He will not!
Since he has committed all these abominations, he will surely die; his blood will be on his own head.
Now, lo, if he
beget a son, that
seeth all his father’s
sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
Now suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father has committed, considers them, and does not do likewise:
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
But if the wicked man turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his
trespass that he hath
trespassed, and in his
sin that he hath
sinned, in them shall he die.
But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity,
committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and
sin he has committed, he will die.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your
sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to
remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because you have drawn attention to your guilt,
exposing your transgressions, so that your
sins are revealed in all your deeds—because you have come to
remembrance—you shall be taken in hand.
And they shall
recompense your
lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the
sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
They will repay you for your
indecency, and you will bear the consequences of your
sins of
idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.’”
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your
shoes upon your feet: ye shall not
mourn nor
weep; but ye shall pine away for your
iniquities, and
mourn one toward another.
Your turbans will remain on your heads and your
sandals on your feet. You will not
mourn or
weep, but you will waste away because of your
sins, and you will
groan among
yourselves.
The ships of
Tarshish did
sing of thee in thy market: and thou
wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.
Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy
merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy
merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
Your wealth, wares, and
merchandise, your sailors, captains, and shipwrights, your merchants and all the warriors within you, with all the other people on board, will
sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your
downfall.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
And I will pour my
fury upon
Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.
And I will set fire in Egypt:
Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent
asunder, and
Noph shall have distresses daily.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up
thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Since it became great in height and set its top among the clouds, and it grew proud on account of its height,
He heard the sound of the
trumpet, and took not
warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh
warning shall deliver his soul.
Since he heard the sound of the horn but failed to
heed the
warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had
heeded the
warning, he would have saved his life.
Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
Now as for you, son of man, tell the house of Israel that this is what they have said: ‘Our transgressions and our sins are heavy upon us, and we are wasting away because of them! How can we live?’
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his
transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he
sinneth.
Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his
transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to
stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be able to
survive by his righteousness on the day he
sins.’
Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
But if I tell the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and does what is just and right—
None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
None of the sins he has committed will be held against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live.
And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
Indeed, you are to them like a
singer of love songs with a beautiful voice, who
skillfully plays an instrument. They hear your words but do not put them into practice.
Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad;
Since you
shove with
flank and shoulder,
butting all the weak ones with your horns until you have scattered them abroad,
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee:
sith thou hast not
hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will give you over to
bloodshed and it will pursue you.
Since you did not
hate bloodshed, it will pursue you.
And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
attach tendons to you and make flesh grow upon you and cover you with skin. I will put breath within you so that you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
And when I
beheld, lo, the
sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
As I looked on, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them.
Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
“And you, son of man, take a single stick and write on it: ‘Belonging to Judah and to the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another stick and write on it: ‘Belonging to Joseph—the stick of Ephraim—and to all the house of Israel associated with him.’
Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel associated with him, and I will put them together with the stick of Judah. I will make them into a single stick, and they will become one in My hand.’
Neither shall they
defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their
detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have
sinned, and will
cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
They will no longer
defile themselves with their idols or
detestable images, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them from all their
apostasies by which they
sinned, and I will
cleanse them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.
And in the
porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to
slay thereon the burnt offering and the
sin offering and the
trespass offering.
Inside the
portico of the
gateway were two tables on each side, on which the burnt offerings,
sin offerings, and guilt offerings were to be slaughtered.
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two chambers, one beside the north gate and facing south, and another beside the south gate and facing north.
Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the
sin offering, and the
trespass offering; for the place is holy.
Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple
courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the
sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of
Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young
bullock for a
sin offering.
You are to give a young bull from the
herd as a
sin offering to the
Levitical priests who are of the family of
Zadok, who approach Me to minister before Me, declares the Lord GOD.
Thou shalt take the
bullock also of the
sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
Then you are to take away the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the appointed part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
And on the second day thou shalt offer a
kid of the goats without
blemish for a
sin offering; and they shall
cleanse the altar, as they did
cleanse it with the
bullock.
On the second day you are to present an
unblemished male goat as a
sin offering, and the altar is to be
cleansed as it was with the bull.
Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a
sin offering: they shall also prepare a young
bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without
blemish.
For seven days you are to provide a male goat daily for a
sin offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the flock, both
unblemished.
And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord GOD.
And on the day he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he must present his sin offering, declares the Lord GOD.
They shall eat the meat offering, and the
sin offering, and the
trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
They shall eat the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings. Everything in Israel devoted to the LORD will belong to them.
Concerning the
ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:
The prescribed portion of oil, measured by the bath, is a tenth of a bath from each cor (a cor consists of ten baths or one homer, since ten baths are equivalent to a homer).
And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the
sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the
sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
And the priest is to take some of the blood from the
sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the
ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the inner court.
And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a
bullock for a
sin offering.
On that day the prince shall provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.
And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the LORD, seven bullocks and seven rams without
blemish daily the seven days; and a
kid of the goats daily for a
sin offering.
Each day during the seven days of the feast, he shall provide seven bulls and seven rams without
blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD, along with a male goat for a
sin offering.
In the seventh month, in the
fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the
sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the meat offering, and according to the oil.
During the seven days of the feast that begins on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, he is to make the same provision for
sin offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and oil.’
Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests shall
boil the
trespass offering and the
sin offering, where they shall
bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, to
sanctify the people.
and said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall
boil the guilt offering and the
sin offering, and where they shall
bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them into the outer court and
transmit holiness to the people.”
The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a
revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldst
reveal this secret.
The king said to Daniel, “Your God is truly the God of gods and Lord of kings, the
Revealer of Mysteries,
since you were able to
reveal this
mystery.”
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
and when the satraps, prefects, governors, and royal advisers had gathered around, they saw that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men. Not a hair of their heads was singed, their robes were unaffected, and there was no smell of fire on them.
Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy
sins by righteousness, and thine
iniquities by
shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a
lengthening of thy tranquility.
Therefore, may my advice be pleasing to you, O king. Break away from your
sins by doing what is right, and from your
iniquities by showing mercy to the
oppressed. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”
We have
sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
we have
sinned and done wrong. We have acted wickedly and rebelled. We have turned away from Your commandments and ordinances.
O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have
sinned against thee.
O LORD, we are covered with shame—our kings, our leaders, and our fathers—because we have
sinned against You.
Yea, all Israel have
transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the
curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have
sinned against him.
All Israel has
transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to obey Your voice; so the oath and the
curse written in the Law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us, because we have
sinned against You.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our
sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our
sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and
confessing my
sin and the
sin of my people Israel, and presenting my
supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
While I was speaking, praying,
confessing my
sin and that of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy mountain—
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of
sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their
transgression, to put an end to
sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the Most Holy Place.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
“At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people—
everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of
Achor for a door of hope: and she shall
sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
There I will give back her vineyards and make the Valley of
Achor into a
gateway of hope. There she will
respond as she did in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also
reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also
forget thy children.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also
reject you as My priests.
Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also
forget your children.
As they were increased, so they
sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
The more they multiplied, the more they
sinned against Me; they exchanged their Glory for a thing of disgrace.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
Though Ephraim multiplied the altars for
sin, they became his altars for
sinning.
They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to Me, and though they eat the meat, the LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and
punish their
sins: They will return to Egypt.
They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah; He will remember their guilt; He will
punish their
sins.
The high places also of
Aven, the
sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the
thorn and the
thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
The high places of
Aven will be destroyed— it is the
sin of Israel; thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”
O Israel, thou hast
sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
Since the days of Gibeah you have
sinned, O Israel, and there you have remained. Did not the battle in Gibeah overtake the sons of iniquity?
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”
And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
But I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt. I will again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed feast.
And now they
sin more and more, and have made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the

Now they
sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of
craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
Yet I am the LORD your God ever
since the land of Egypt; you know no God but Me, for there is no
Savior besides Me.
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his
sin is
hid.
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is stored up.
Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
“Therefore, that is what I will do to you, O Israel, and since I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!
