I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath
bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath
bestowed on them according to his
mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
I will make known the LORD’s loving devotion and His
praiseworthy acts, because of all that the LORD has done for us— the many good things for the house of Israel according to His great
compassion and loving devotion.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
Be not
wroth very
sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we
beseech thee, we are all thy people.
Do not be
angry, O LORD, beyond measure; do not remember our iniquity
forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray; we are all Your people!
Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the
degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
I had planted you like a choice vine from the very
best seed. How could you turn
yourself before Me into a
rotten, wild vine?
Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been
lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast
polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Lift up your eyes to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been
violated? You sat
beside the
highways waiting for your lovers, like a
nomad in the desert. You have
defiled the land with your
prostitution and wickedness.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold,
publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Warn the nations now!
Proclaim to Jerusalem: “A
besieging army comes from a distant land; they raise their voices against the cities of Judah.
And the vessel that he made of clay was
marred in the hand of the
potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the
potter to make it.
But the vessel that he was shaping from the clay became
flawed in his hand; so he formed it into another vessel, as it seemed
best for him to do.
Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands,
wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which
besiege you without the walls, and I will
assemble them into the midst of this city.
this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will turn against you the weapons of war in your hands, with which you are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who
besiege you outside the wall, and I will
assemble their forces in the center of this city.
He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the
pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that
besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and famine and plague, but
whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who
besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a
spoil of war.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and
besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we
procure great evil against our souls.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah or
anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did
Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the
disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great
harm on ourselves!”
They shall come with
weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not
stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my
firstborn.
They will come with
weeping, and by their
supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk
beside streams of waters, on a level path where they will not
stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My
firstborn.”
For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
At that time the army of the king of Babylon was
besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the
courtyard of the guard, which was in the palace of the king of Judah.
So the king sent Jehudi to
fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the
scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood
beside the king.
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the
scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the
scribe. And Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing
beside him.
Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to
Baruch the
scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which
Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added
besides unto them many like words.
Then Jeremiah took another
scroll and gave it to the
scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and at Jeremiah’s
dictation he wrote on it all the words of the
scroll that
Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.
Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that
besieged Jerusalem heard
tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
Pharaoh’s army had left Egypt, and when the Chaldeans who were
besieging Jerusalem heard the report, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
Therefore the princes said unto the king, We
beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the
welfare of this people, but the
hurt.
Then the officials said to the king, “This man ought to die, for he is discouraging the warriors who remain in this city, as well as all the people, by speaking such words to them; this man is not seeking the well-being of these people, but their ruin.”
But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I
beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live.
“They will not hand you over,” Jeremiah replied. “Obey the voice of the LORD in what I am telling you, that it may go well with you and you may live.
In the ninth year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they
besieged it.
In the ninth year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army and laid siege to the city.
And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we
beseech thee, our
supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this
remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire
remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
Moab is
spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
Moab has been destroyed and its towns have been invaded; the best of its young men have gone down in the slaughter, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and
travail.
He has
besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and
hardship.
Now as I
beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
When I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.
And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
So as the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.
I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great
rushing.
It was the sound of the wings of the living creatures
brushing against one another and the sound of the wheels
beside them, a great
rumbling sound.
Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
Then take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between
yourself and the city. Turn your face toward it so that it is under siege, and
besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.
He that is far off shall die of the
pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is
besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I
accomplish my
fury upon them.
He who is far off will die by the plague, he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who remains will die by famine. So I will
vent My
fury upon them.
And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s
inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood
beside the
brasen altar.
And I saw six men coming from the direction of the Upper Gate, which faces north, each with a weapon of slaughter in his hand. With them was another man clothed in linen who had a writing
kit at his side. And they came in and stood
beside the bronze altar.
And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.
When the LORD commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from within the
wheelwork, from among the
cherubim,” the man went in and stood
beside a wheel.
And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one
cherub, and another wheel by another
cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a
beryl stone.
And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
When the
cherubim moved, the wheels moved
beside them, and even when they spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not
veer away from their side.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
As I watched, the
cherubim lifted their wings and rose up from the ground, with the wheels
beside them as they went. And they stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, with the glory of the God of Israel above them.
Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
Then the
cherubim, with the wheels
beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
And thy
renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my
comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect in the
splendor I
bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.
The young men of
Aven and of
Pi-
beseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity.
The young men of On and
Pi-
beseth will fall by the sword, and those cities will go into captivity.
I made the nations to
shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to
hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of
Eden, the choice and
best of
Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the
nether parts of the earth.
I made the nations
quake at the sound of its
downfall, when I cast it down to
Sheol with those who descend to the Pit. Then all the trees of
Eden, the choicest and
best of
Lebanon, all the well-watered trees, were
consoled in the earth below.
I will destroy also all the beasts thereof from
beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the
hoofs of beasts trouble them.
I will slaughter all her cattle
beside the abundant waters. No human foot will
muddy them again, and no cattle
hooves will
disturb them.
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two chambers, one beside the north gate and facing south, and another beside the south gate and facing north.
And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple,
In their setting of their
threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even
defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger.
When they placed their
threshold next to My
threshold and their doorposts
beside My doorposts, with only a wall between Me and them, they
defiled My holy name by the abominations they committed. Therefore I have consumed them in My anger.
And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every
oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest’s: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your
dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.
The
best of all the firstfruits and of every contribution from all your offerings will belong to the priests. You are to give your first
batch of
dough to the priest, so that a blessing may rest upon your homes.
And they shall not sell of it, neither exchange, nor
alienate the firstfruits of the land: for it is holy unto the LORD.
They must not sell or exchange any of it, and they must not transfer this best part of the land, for it is holy to the LORD.
In the third year of the reign of
Jehoiakim king of Judah came
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and
besieged it.
In the third year of the reign of
Jehoiakim king of Judah,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and
besieged it.
Prove thy servants, I
beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us
pulse to eat, and water to drink.
“Please test your servants for ten days. Let us be given only vegetables to eat and water to drink.
And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages,
trembled and feared before him: whom he would he
slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the greatness that He
bestowed on him, the people of every nation and language
trembled in fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he
exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.
And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at
Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of
Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.
And in the vision I saw myself in the citadel of
Susa, in the province of
Elam. I saw in the vision that I was
beside the Ulai Canal.
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a ram with two horns standing beside the canal. The horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one grew up later.
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his power.
He came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing
beside the canal and
rushed at him with
furious power.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his
posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be
plucked up, even for others
beside those.
But as soon as he is established, his kingdom will be broken up and
parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the authority with which he ruled, because his kingdom will be uprooted and given to others.
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their
best troops will not be able to resist.
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have
beset them about; they are before my face.
But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
Yet I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but Me, for there is no
Savior besides Me.
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
Do not be afraid, O beasts of the field, for the open pastures have turned green, the trees bear their fruit, and the fig tree and vine yield their best.
And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to
pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
They lie down
beside every altar on garments taken in
pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained through fines.
And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I
beset all your cities with cleanness of teeth and all your towns with lack of bread, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
Then I said, “Lord GOD, please stop! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said,
Smite the
lintel of the door, that the posts may
shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will
slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not
flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
I saw the Lord standing
beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds
shake.
Topple them on the heads of all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who
flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.
Wherefore they
cried unto the LORD, and said, We
beseech thee, O LORD, we
beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.
So they
cried out to the LORD: “Please, O LORD, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life! Do not charge us with innocent blood! For You, O LORD, have done as You pleased.”
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I
beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.
And now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”
The
best of them is like a
brier; the most upright is sharper than a
hedge of thorns. The day for your
watchmen has come, the day of your
visitation. Now is the time of their confusion.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none
beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none
besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the
bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
There are also two olive trees
beside it, one on the right side of the
bowl and the other on its left.”
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes from which the golden oil pours?”
Then said he, These are the two
anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.
So he said, “These are the two
anointed ones who are standing
beside the Lord of all the earth.”
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of
trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of
drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples. Judah will be
besieged, as well as Jerusalem.
And now, I pray you,
beseech God that he will be
gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
“But ask now for God’s favor. Will He be
gracious? Since this has come from your hands, will He show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
And Jesus, walking by the sea of
Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking
beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
So the devils
besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the
herd of
swine.
So the demons
begged Jesus, “If You drive us out, send us into the
herd of pigs.”
And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they
besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they
begged Him to leave their region.
And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
About five thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children.
And
besought him that they might only touch the
hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and
besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
But Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came and urged Him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
A total of four thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children.
And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and
besought him, saying, Have
patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
So his fellow servant fell down and
begged him, ‘Have
patience with me, and I will pay you back.’
And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by,
cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
And there were two blind men sitting
beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they
cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and
straightway ye shall find an
ass tied, and a
colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
saying to them, “Go into the village
ahead of you, and at once you will find a
donkey tied there, with her
colt beside her.
Untie them and bring them to Me.
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
The servant who had received the five talents came and presented five more. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
The servant who had received the two talents also came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more.’
Now as he walked by the sea of
Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking
beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
Then a
leper came to Jesus,
begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
Once again Jesus went out beside the sea. All the people came to Him, and He taught them there.
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
When His family heard about this, they went out to take
custody of Him, saying, “He is out of His mind.”
And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
Once again Jesus began to teach beside the sea, and such a large crowd gathered around Him that He got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people crowded along the shore.
And he
besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
And he
begged Jesus repeatedly not to send them out of that region.
And all the devils
besought him, saying, Send us into the
swine, that we may enter into them.
So the demons
begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.”
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was
nigh unto the sea.
When Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.
And
besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be
healed; and she shall live.
and
pleaded with Him
urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be
healed and live.”
And
whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and
besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
And wherever He went—villages and towns and countrysides—they laid the sick in the marketplaces and
begged Him just to let them touch the
fringe of His
cloak. And all who touched Him were
healed.
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she
besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
Now she was a Greek woman of Syrophoenician origin, and she kept asking Jesus to drive the
demon out of her daughter.
And they bring unto him one that was
deaf, and had an
impediment in his speech; and they
beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Some people brought to Him a man who was
deaf and hardly able to speak, and they
begged Jesus to place His hand on him.
And he cometh to
Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and
besought him to touch him.
When they arrived at
Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man and
begged Jesus to touch him.
And they came to
Jericho: and as he went out of
Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
highway side
begging.
Next, they came to
Jericho. And as Jesus and His disciples were leaving
Jericho with a large crowd, a blind
beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting
beside the road.
And he arose out of the
synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they
besought him for her.
After Jesus had left the
synagogue, He went to the home of Simon, whose mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever. So they appealed to Jesus on her behalf,
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of
leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and
besought him, saying, Lord, if thou
wilt, thou canst make me clean.
While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with
leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell facedown and
begged Him, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews,
beseeching him that he would come and
heal his servant.
When the
centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to ask Him to come and
heal his servant.
And when they came to Jesus, they
besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
They came to Jesus and
pleaded with Him earnestly, “This man is worthy to have You grant this,
When he saw Jesus, he
cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I
beseech thee,
torment me not.
When the man saw Jesus, he
cried out and fell down before Him,
shouting in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I
beg You not to
torture me!”
