For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had
cast them out from his presence, that
Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
For because of the anger of the LORD, all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And
Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.
How hath the Lord covered the daughter of
Zion with a cloud in his anger, and
cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his
footstool in the day of his anger!
How the Lord has covered the Daughter of
Zion with the cloud of His anger! He has
cast the glory of Israel from heaven to earth. He has abandoned His
footstool in the day of His anger.
The Lord hath
cast off his altar, he hath
abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
The Lord has rejected His altar; He has abandoned His sanctuary; He has delivered the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have raised a
shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.
The elders of the daughter of
Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have
cast up dust upon their heads; they have
girded themselves with
sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem
hang down their heads to the ground.
The elders of the Daughter of
Zion sit on the ground in silence. They have thrown dust on their heads and put on
sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.
For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
For the Lord will not
cast us off
forever.
They have cut off my life in the
dungeon, and
cast a stone upon me.
They dropped me alive into a pit and cast stones upon me.
And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and
cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set
battering rams against it round about.
Then lay siege against it: Construct a siege wall, build a
ramp to it, set up camps against it, and place
battering rams around it on all sides.
Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
Again, take a few of these, throw them into the fire, and burn them. From there a fire will spread to the whole house of Israel.
And your altars shall be
desolate, and your images shall be broken: and I will
cast down your slain men before your idols.
Your altars will be
demolished and your incense altars will be
smashed; and I will
cast down your slain before your idols.
They shall
cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their
bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem unclean. Their silver and gold cannot save them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs with wealth, for it became the
stumbling block that brought their iniquity.
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
Therefore declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries to which they have gone.’
Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
No, it is
cast into the fire for fuel. The fire devours both ends, and the middle is
charred. Can it be useful for anything?
None eye
pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have
compassion upon thee; but thou
wast cast out in the open field, to the
lothing of thy person, in the day that thou
wast born.
No one cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of
compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were
despised on the day of your birth.
Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
Pharaoh with his mighty army and vast
horde will not help him in battle, when ramps are built and siege walls constructed to destroy many lives.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have
transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Cast away from
yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and fashion for
yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel?
But she was
plucked up in
fury, she was
cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and
withered; the fire consumed them.
But it was uprooted in
fury,
cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were
stripped off and they
withered; the fire consumed them.
Then said I unto them,
Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and
defile not
yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
And I said to them: ‘Each of you must throw away the abominations before his eyes, and you must not
defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’
But they rebelled against me, and would not
hearken unto me: they did not every man
cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they
forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my
fury upon them to
accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
But they rebelled against Me and refused to
listen. None of them
cast away the abominations before their eyes, and they did not
forsake the idols of Egypt. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the land of Egypt.
At his right hand was the
divination for Jerusalem, to
appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with
shouting, to
appoint battering rams against the gates, to
cast a mount, and to build a fort.
In his right hand appears the
portent for Jerusalem, where he is to set up
battering rams, to call for the slaughter, to lift a battle cry, to direct the
battering rams against the gates, to build a
ramp, and to erect a siege wall.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and
cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy
lewdness and thy whoredoms.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because you have forgotten Me and have
cast Me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your
indecency and
prostitution.’”
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece;
cast no lots for its contents.
He shall
slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make a fort against thee, and
cast a mount against thee, and lift up the
buckler against thee.
He will slaughter the villages of your mainland with the sword; he will set up siege works against you, build a
ramp to your walls, and raise his shields against you.
And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall
cast up dust upon their heads, they shall
wallow themselves in the ashes:
They will raise their voices for you and cry out bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in ashes.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will
cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Your heart grew proud of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom because of your
splendor; so I
cast you to the earth; I made you a
spectacle before kings.
I made the nations to
shake at the sound of his fall, when I
cast him down to
hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of
Eden, the choice and best of
Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the
nether parts of the earth.
I made the nations
quake at the sound of its
downfall, when I
cast it down to
Sheol with those who descend to the Pit. Then all the trees of
Eden, the choicest and best of
Lebanon, all the well-watered trees, were
consoled in the earth below.
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
I will
abandon you on the land and
hurl you into the open field. I will cause all the birds of the air to settle upon you, and all the beasts of the earth to eat their fill of you.
Son of man,
wail for the multitude of Egypt, and
cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the
nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
“Son of man,
wail for the multitudes of Egypt, and
consign her and the daughters of the mighty nations to the depths of the earth with those who descend to the Pit:
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all
Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with
despiteful minds, to
cast it out for a prey.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Surely in My burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all
Edom, who took My land as their own possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, so that its pastureland became
plunder.
And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
You must present them before the LORD; the priests are to
sprinkle salt on them and sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the LORD.
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be
cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be
cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be
cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, and to
cast them into the burning
fiery furnace.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were
cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up, wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we
cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be
cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not sign a decree that for thirty days any man who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!”
And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they
cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the
mastery of them, and
brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
At the command of the king, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought and thrown into the den of lions—they and their children and wives. And before they had reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and
crushed all their bones.
I
beheld till the thrones were
cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all
ablaze.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he
cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
It grew as high as the host of heaven, and it
cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the earth, and
trampled them.
Yea, he
magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was
cast down.
It
magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary.
And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of
transgression, and it
cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and
prospered.
And in the rebellion, the host and the daily sacrifice were given over to the horn, and it
flung truth to the ground and
prospered in whatever it did.
And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
When the army is carried off, the king of the South will be proud in heart and will cast down tens of thousands, but he will not triumph.
So the king of the north shall come, and
cast up a mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will not be able to resist.
Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
But Israel has rejected good; an enemy will pursue him.
Thy
calf, O Samaria, hath
cast thee off; mine anger is
kindled against them: how long will it be
ere they attain to
innocency?
He has rejected your
calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of
innocence?
My God will
cast them away, because they did not
hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
My God will
reject them because they have not obeyed Him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
And now they sin more and more, and have made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the
craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice
kiss the
calves.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves
cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of
craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
I will be as the
dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the
lily, and
cast forth his roots as
Lebanon.
I will be like the
dew to Israel; he will
blossom like the
lily and take root like the cedars of
Lebanon.
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
It has laid waste My
grapevine and
splintered My fig tree. It has
stripped off the bark and thrown it away; the branches have turned white.
And they have
cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an
harlot, and sold a
girl for wine, that they might drink.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of
Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did
cast off all
pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of
Edom, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and
stifled all
compassion; his anger
raged continually, and his
fury flamed
incessantly.
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
You will go out through broken walls, each one straight
ahead of her, and you will be
cast out toward Harmon,” declares the LORD.
Ye who turn judgment to
wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
There are those who turn justice into
wormwood and
cast righteousness to the ground.
And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
“In that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “the songs of the temple will turn to
wailing. Many will be the corpses,
strewn in silence everywhere!”
Shall not the land
tremble for this, and every one
mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be
cast out and
drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
Will not the land
quake for this, and all its dwellers
mourn? All of it will swell like the Nile; it will
surge and then
subside like the Nile in Egypt.
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away
captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and
cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou
wast as one of them.
On the day you stood
aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gate and
cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.
Then the mariners were afraid, and
cried every man unto his god, and
cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to
lighten it of them. But
Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast
asleep.
The sailors were afraid, and each
cried out to his own god. And they threw the ship’s
cargo into the sea to
lighten the load. But
Jonah had gone down to the lowest part of the vessel, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us
cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they
cast lots, and the lot fell upon
Jonah.
“Come!” said the sailors to one another. “Let us
cast lots to find out who is responsible for this
calamity that is upon us.” So they
cast lots, and the lot fell on
Jonah.
And he said unto them, Take me up, and
cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great
tempest is upon you.
“
Pick me up,” he answered, “and
cast me into the sea, so it may quiet down for you. For I know that I am to
blame for this violent storm that has come upon you.”
So they took up
Jonah, and
cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her
raging.
At this, they
picked up
Jonah and
cast him into the sea, and the
raging sea grew calm.
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
For You
cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current
swirled about me; all Your breakers and waves swept over me.
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
At this, I said, ‘I have been banished from Your sight; yet I will look once more toward Your holy temple.’
Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.
Therefore, you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to divide the land by lot.
The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.
You drive the women of My people from their pleasant homes. You take away My blessing from their children
forever.
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was
cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
You will eat but not be satisfied, and your hunger will remain with you. What you acquire, you will not preserve; and what you save, I will give to the sword.
And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the
graven image and the
molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art
vile.
The LORD has issued a command concerning you, O
Nineveh: “There will be no descendants to carry on your name. I will cut off the carved image and
cast idol from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.”
Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they
cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They
cast lots for her
dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
The LORD has taken away your punishment; He has turned back your enemy. Israel’s King, the LORD, is among you; no longer will you fear any
harm.
Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to
fray them, to
cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to
scatter it.
“What are these coming to do?” I asked. And He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head; but the
craftsmen have come to
terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations that have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to
scatter it.”
And he said, This is wickedness. And he
cast it into the midst of the
ephah; and he
cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
“This is Wickedness,” he said. And he
shoved her down into the
basket,
pushing down the lead cover over its opening.
Behold, the Lord will
cast her out, and he will
smite her power in the sea; and she shall be
devoured with fire.
Behold, the Lord will
impoverish her and
cast her wealth into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
And I will
strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not
cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them.
I will
strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have
compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not rejected them. For I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them.
And the LORD said unto me,
Cast it unto the
potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and
cast them to the
potter in the house of the LORD.
And the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the
potter”—this magnificent price at which they valued me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the
potter in the house of the LORD.
And I will
rebuke the
devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine
cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will
rebuke the
devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your land, and the vine in your field will not fail to produce fruit,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and
cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God,
cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
Now when Jesus had heard that John was
cast into prison, he departed into
Galilee;
When Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, He withdrew to
Galilee.
And Jesus, walking by the sea of
Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother,
casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were
casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be
cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
savor, how can it be made
salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and
trampled by men.
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be
cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
And if thy right eye
offend thee,
pluck it out, and
cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into
hell.
If your right eye causes you to sin,
gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into
hell.
And if thy right hand
offend thee, cut if off, and
cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into
hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into
hell.
Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to
morrow is
cast into the
oven, shall he not much more
clothe you, O ye of little faith?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here
today and
tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith?
Thou
hypocrite, first
cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to
cast out the
mote out of thy brother’s eye.
You
hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother’s eye.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither
cast ye your pearls before
swine, lest they
trample them under their feet, and turn again and
rend you.
Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before
