prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and
cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to
pluck it up by the roots thereof.
So you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Will it
flourish? Will it not be uprooted and
stripped of its fruit so that it shrivels? All its foliage will wither! It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by its roots.
Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
Pharaoh with his mighty army and vast
horde will not help him in battle, when ramps are built and siege walls constructed to destroy many lives.
And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his
sheath, and will
cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

sheath and
cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.

cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his
sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

cut off both the righteous and the wicked, My sword will be
unsheathed against
everyone from south to north.

furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the fire.

jealous rage against you, and they will deal with you in
fury. They will
cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by fire.

spoil to the heathen; and I will
cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

plunder to the nations. I will
cut you off from the peoples and
exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the LORD.’

Edom, and will
cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it
desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.

Edom and
cut off from it both man and beast. I will make it a wasteland, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.

desolate, and

cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall
spoil those that
spoiled them, and
rob those that
robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.

countryside or
cut it from the forests, for they will use the weapons for fuel. They will
loot those who
looted them and
plunder those who
plundered them, declares the Lord GOD.
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be
cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a

cut into pieces and your houses will be reduced to
rubble.
Thou sawest till that a stone was
cut out without hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
brake them to pieces.
As you watched, a stone was
cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and
crushed them.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was
cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being
cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, shall be
cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a
dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego will be
cut into pieces and their houses reduced to
rubble. For there is no other god who can deliver in this way.”

cried aloud, and said thus,

cut off his branches,
shake off his leaves, and
scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:

Cut down the tree and
chop off its branches; strip off its leaves and
scatter its fruit. Let the beasts
flee from under it, and the birds from its branches.

Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the
stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the
dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
And you, O king, saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying: ‘
Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the
stump with its roots in the ground, and a band of iron and bronze around it, in the tender grass of the field. Let him be
drenched with the
dew of heaven, and
graze with the beasts of the field till seven times pass him by.’

threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be
cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then after the sixty-two weeks the

cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

cut off.
Awake, ye drunkards, and
weep; and
howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is
cut off from your mouth.
Wake up, you drunkards, and
weep;
wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it has been
cut off from your mouth.
The meat offering and the drink offering is
cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD’S ministers,
mourn.

cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests are in
mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
Is not the meat
cut off before our eyes,
yea, joy and
gladness from the house of our God?

cut off before our very eyes— joy and
gladness from the house of our God?
I will break also the bar of Damascus, and
cut off the inhabitant from the plain of
Aven, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from the house of
Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

cut off the ruler of the Valley of
Aven and the one who wields the
scepter in Beth-
eden. The people of
Aram will be exiled to Kir,” says the LORD.

cut off the inhabitant from
Ashdod, and him that holdeth the

remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

cut off the ruler of
Ashdod and the one who wields the
scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn My hand against
Ekron, and the
remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord GOD.

cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will

That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of
Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be
cut off, and fall to the ground.
On the day I
punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of
Bethel; the horns of the altar will be
cut off, and they will fall to the ground.
I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said,
Smite the
lintel of the door, that the posts may
shake: and
cut them in the head, all of them; and I will
slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not
flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds
shake.
Topple them on the heads of all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who
flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.
If
thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou
cut off!) would they not have
stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
“If
thieves came to you, if robbers by night— oh, how you will be ruined— would they not
steal only what they wanted? If
grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings?
And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of
Esau may be
cut off by slaughter.
Then your mighty men, O Teman, will be
terrified, so that

Esau will be
cut down in the slaughter.

cut off
forever.

crossway, to
cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Nor should you stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, nor deliver up their survivors in the day of their distress.
Make thee
bald, and
poll thee for thy delicate children;
enlarge thy
baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.

adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be
cut off.

cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy
chariots:

chariots.

tear down all your strongholds.

I will
cut the
sorceries from your hand, and you will have no fortune-tellers.

graven images also will I
cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.

afflict you no longer.

cut off the
graven image and the
molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art
vile.
The LORD has issued a command concerning you, O
Nineveh: “There will be no descendants to carry on your name. I will
cut off the carved image and cast
idol from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.”
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly
cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly
cut off.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her
chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall
devour thy young lions: and I will
cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

chariots up in smoke, and the sword will
devour your young lions. I will
cut off your prey from the earth, and the voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by
cutting off many people, and hast
sinned against thy soul.
You have
plotted shame for your house by
cutting off many peoples and
forfeiting your life.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be
cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are
cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will
cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked worshipers. I will
cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will
cut off the
remnant of
Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
“I will stretch out My hand against Judah and against all who dwell in Jerusalem. I will
cut off from this place every
remnant of
Baal, the names of the
idolatrous and pagan priests—
Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are
cut down; all they that bear silver are
cut off.
Wail, O dwellers of the Hollow, for all your merchants will be silenced; all who
weigh out silver will be
cut off.
I have
cut off the nations: their towers are
desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
I said, Surely thou
wilt fear me, thou
wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be
cut off,
howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
I said, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction.’ Then her dwelling place would not be
cut off
despite all for which I punished her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
Then said he unto me, This is the
curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be
cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be
cut off as on that side according to it.
Then he told me, “This is the
curse that is going out over the face of all the land, for according to one side of the
scroll, every
thief will be removed; and according to the other side, every
perjurer will be removed.
And a
bastard shall dwell in
Ashdod, and I will
cut off the pride of the Philistines.
A mixed race will occupy
Ashdod, and I will
cut off the pride of the Philistines.
And I will
cut off the
chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be
cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.
And I will
cut off the
chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of war will be broken. Then He will
proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
And in one month I dismissed three
shepherds. My soul grew impatient with the flock, and their souls also
detested me.
Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
Then I said, “I will no longer
shepherd you. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish; and let those who remain
devour one another’s flesh.”
And I took my staff, even Beauty, and
cut it
asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
Next I took my staff called Favor and
cut it in two,
revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations.
Then I
cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the
brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
Then I
cut in two my second staff called Union, breaking the
brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be
cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a
burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be
cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
On that day, when all the nations of the earth gather against her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who would
heave it away will be severely injured.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it.
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women
ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be
cut off from the city.
For I will gather all the nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the city will be captured, the houses
looted, and the women
ravished. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
As for the man who does this, may the LORD
cut off from the tents of Jacob
everyone who is
awake and aware—even if he brings an offering to the LORD of Hosts.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be
cut down and thrown into the fire.
And if thy right hand
offend thee,
cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin,
cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into
hell.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot
offend thee,
cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life
halt or
maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into
everlasting fire.
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin,
cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life
crippled or
lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
And except those days should be
shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the
elect’s sake those days shall be
shortened.
If those days had not been
cut short,
nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the
elect, those days will be
cut short.
Then he will
cut him to pieces and
assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.
And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and
smote off his ear.

And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had
hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the
sepulchre, and departed.
and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut into the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.
And if thy hand
offend thee,
cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life
maimed, than having two hands to go into
hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
If your hand causes you to sin,
cut it off. It is better for you to enter life
crippled than to have two hands and go into
hell, into the
unquenchable fire.
And if thy foot
offend thee,
cut it off: it is better for thee to enter
halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into
hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
If your foot causes you to sin,
cut it off. It is better for you to enter life
lame than to have two feet and be thrown into
hell.
And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
Many in the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut from the fields.
And except that the Lord had
shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the
elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath
shortened the days.
If the Lord had not
cut short those days,
nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the
elect, whom He has chosen, He has
cut them short.
And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and
smote a servant of the high priest, and
cut off his ear.
And one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and
wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a
sepulchre which was
hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the
sepulchre.
So Joseph bought a linen cloth, took down the body of Jesus,
wrapped it in the cloth, and placed it in a tomb that had been
cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be
cut down and thrown into the fire.”
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will
cut him in
sunder, and will
appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not
anticipate. Then he will
cut him to pieces and
assign him a place with the unbelievers.
Then said he unto the dresser of his
vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none:
cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
So he said to the keeper of the
vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and
haven’t found any. Therefore
cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”
And one of them
smote the servant of the high priest, and
cut off his right ear.
And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
And he took it down, and
wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a
sepulchre that was
hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Then he took it down,
wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb
cut into the rock, where no one had yet been laid.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and
smote the high priest’s servant, and
cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
Then Simon Peter drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
One of the servants of the high priest, being his
kinsman whose ear Peter
cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Didn’t I see you with Him in the garden?”
Now when they heard this, they were
pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Everyone who does not
listen to Him will be completely
cut off from among his people.’
When they heard that, they were
cut to the heart, and took counsel to
slay them.

foresail to the wind and made for the
beach.
