And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
“Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
The
fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with
unleavened bread and bitter
herbs.
Such people are to observe it at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the second month. They are to eat the lamb, together with
unleavened bread and bitter
herbs;
And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand
footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’
Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
If all our flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”
And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold,
Miriam became
leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon
Miriam, and, behold, she was
leprous.
As the cloud lifted from above the Tent, suddenly
Miriam became
leprous, white as snow. Aaron turned toward
her, saw that she was
leprous,
Let
her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s
womb.
Please do not let
her be like a
stillborn infant whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s
womb.”
So Moses
cried out to the LORD, “O God, please
heal her!”
And the LORD said unto Moses, If
her father had but
spit in
her face, should she not be
ashamed seven days? let
her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let
her be received in again.
But the LORD answered Moses, “If
her father had but
spit in
her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Let
her be confined outside the camp for seven days; after that she may be brought back in.”
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land
whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
And they gave this account to Moses: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and indeed, it is flowing with milk and honey. Here is some of its fruit!
And they rose up early in the morning, and
gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be
here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have
sinned.
Early the next morning they got up and went up toward the ridge of the hill country. “We have indeed
sinned,” they said, “but we will go to the place the LORD has promised.”
And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a
vow, or in a
freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the
herd, or of the flock:
and you present an offering made by fire to the LORD from the
herd or flock to produce a pleasing
aroma to the LORD—either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, for a special
vow or
freewill offering or appointed feast—
And Moses said,
Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things, for it was not my own doing:
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open
her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that
appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have
provoked the LORD.
But if the LORD brings about something
unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and
swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into
Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.”
And the earth opened
her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that
appertained unto
Korah, and all their goods.
and the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them and their households—all
Korah’s men and all their possessions.
And ye shall give
her unto
Eleazar the priest, that he may bring
her forth without the camp, and one shall
slay her before his face:
Give it to
Eleazar the priest, and he will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
And
Eleazar the priest shall take of
her blood with his finger, and
sprinkle of
her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:
Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and
sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
And one shall burn the
heifer in his sight;
her skin, and
her flesh, and
her blood, with
her dung, shall he burn:
Then the
heifer must be burned in his sight. Its hide, its flesh, and its blood are to be burned, along with its dung.
And he that burneth
her shall wash his clothes in water, and
bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.
The one who burned the
heifer must also wash his clothes and
bathe his body in water, and he too will be
ceremonially unclean until evening.
And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?
Why have you brought the LORD’s assembly into this wilderness for us and our
livestock to die
here?
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
“We will stay on the main road,” the Israelites replied, “and if we or our herds drink your water, we will pay for it. There will be no problem; only let us pass through on foot.”
And he said unto them,
Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with
Balaam.
“
Spend the night
here,”
Balaam replied, “and I will give you the answer that the LORD speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with
Balaam.
Now therefore, I pray you,
tarry ye also
here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
So now, please stay here overnight as the others did, that I may find out what else the LORD has to tell me.”
And the
ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the
ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and
Balaam smote the
ass, to turn
her into the way.
When the
donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the path and went into a field. So
Balaam beat
her to return
her to the path.
And when the
ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust
herself unto the wall, and
crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he
smote her again.
And the
donkey saw the angel of the LORD and pressed
herself against the wall,
crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat
her once again.
When the
donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under
Balaam, and he became
furious and beat
her with his staff.
And the
ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved
her alive.
The
donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, then by now I would surely have killed you and let
her live.”
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Build me
here seven altars, and prepare me
here seven oxen and seven rams.
Then
Balaam said to Balak, “Build for me seven altars
here, and prepare for me seven bulls and seven rams.”
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go:
peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and
whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.
“Stay
here by your burnt offering while I am gone,”
Balaam said to Balak. “Perhaps the LORD will meet with me. And whatever He reveals to me, I will tell you.” So
Balaam went off to a barren height,
And Balak said unto
Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to
curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.
Then Balak said to
Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you
here to
curse my enemies, and behold, you have only blessed them!”
And he said unto Balak, Stand
here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD
yonder.
Balaam said to Balak, “Stay
here beside your burnt offering while I meet the LORD over there.”
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Build me
here seven altars, and prepare me
here seven bullocks and seven rams.
Then
Balaam said, “Build for me seven altars
here, and prepare for me seven bulls and seven rams.”
And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through
her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
followed the
Israelite into his tent, and drove the
spear through both of them—through the
Israelite and on through the
belly of the woman. So the plague against the Israelites was
halted,
And the earth opened
her mouth, and
swallowed them up together with
Korah, when that company died, what time the fire
devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
And the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them along with
Korah, whose followers died when the fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a
warning sign.
And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom
her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and
Miriam their sister.
and Amram’s wife was named Jochebed. She was also a daughter of Levi, born to Levi in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses, and their sister
Miriam.
If a woman also
vow a
vow unto the LORD, and bind
herself by a bond, being in
her father’s house in
her youth;
And if a woman in
her father’s house during
her youth makes a
vow to the LORD or obligates
herself by a
pledge,
And
her father hear
her vow, and
her bond
wherewith she hath bound
her soul, and
her father shall hold his peace at
her: then all
her vows shall stand, and every bond
wherewith she hath bound
her soul shall stand.
and
her father hears about
her vow or
pledge but says nothing to
her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound
herself shall stand.
But if
her father disallow
her in the day that he heareth; not any of
her vows, or of
her bonds
wherewith she hath bound
her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall
forgive her, because
her father disallowed
her.
But if
her father prohibits
her on the day he hears about it, then none of the vows or pledges by which she has bound
herself shall stand. The LORD will
absolve her because
her father has prohibited
her.
And if she had at all an husband, when she
vowed, or uttered ought out of
her lips,
wherewith she bound
her soul;
If a woman marries while under a
vow or
rash promise by which she has bound
herself,
And
her husband heard it, and held his peace at
her in the day that he heard it: then
her vows shall stand, and
her bonds
wherewith she bound
her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her on that day, then the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if
her husband disallowed
her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make
her vow which she
vowed, and that which she uttered with
her lips,
wherewith she bound
her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if
her husband prohibits
her when he hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds
her or the
rash promise she has made, and the LORD will
absolve her.
But every
vow of a widow, and of
her that is
divorced,
wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against
her.
And if she
vowed in
her husband’s house, or bound
her soul by a bond with an oath;
If a woman in
her husband’s house has made a
vow or put
herself under an obligation with an oath,
And
her husband heard it, and held his peace at
her, and disallowed
her not: then all
her vows shall stand, and every bond
wherewith she bound
her soul shall stand.
and
her husband hears of it but says nothing to
her and does not
prohibit her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound
herself shall stand.
But if
her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of
her lips concerning
her vows, or concerning the bond of
her soul, shall not stand:
her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if
her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from
her lips, whether
her vows or pledges, shall stand.
Her husband has
nullified them, and the LORD will
absolve her.
Every
vow, and every binding oath to
afflict the soul,
her husband may establish it, or
her husband may make it void.
But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all the vows and pledges that bind her. He has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard about them.
But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.
But if he nullifies them after he hears of them, then he will bear her iniquity.”
These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.
And the children of Israel took all the women of
Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the
spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
The Israelites captured the Midianite women and their children, and they
plundered all their
herds, flocks, and goods.
Now the children of
Reuben and the children of
Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of
Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;
Now the Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large
herds and flocks, surveyed the lands of Jazer and
Gilead, and they saw that the region was suitable for
livestock.
And Moses said unto the children of
Gad and to the children of
Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit
here?
But Moses asked the Gadites and Reubenites, “Shall your brothers go to war while you sit here?
And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:
Then the Gadites and Reubenites approached Moses and said, “We want to build sheepfolds
here for our
livestock and cities for our little ones.
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of
Gilead:
Our children, our wives, our
livestock, and all our animals will remain
here in the cities of
Gilead.
And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
The cities will be for them to live in, and the pasturelands will be for their
herds, their flocks, and all their other
livestock.
And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any
Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of
her father, so that every
Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.
And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the
Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of
Arnon unto mount
Hermon;
At that time we took from the two kings of the
Amorites the land across the Jordan, from the
Arnon Valley as far as Mount
Hermon—
(Which
Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the
Amorites call it Shenir;)
which the Sidonians call Sirion but the
Amorites call Senir—
From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river
Arnon, even unto mount
Sion, which is
Hermon,
extending from Aroer on the
rim of the
Arnon Valley as far as Mount Siyon (that is,
Hermon),
The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
He did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with all of us who are alive
here today.
But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
But you stand here with Me, that I may speak to you all the commandments and statutes and ordinances you are to teach them to follow in the land that I am giving them to possess.”
And he will love thee, and
bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also
bless the fruit of thy
womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy
kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he
sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
He will love you and
bless you and multiply you. He will
bless the fruit of your
womb and the produce of your land—your grain, new wine, and oil, the young of your
herds and the lambs of your flocks—in the land that He
swore to your fathers to give you.
And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all that you have is multiplied,
And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a
molten image.
And the LORD said to me, “Get up and go down from
here at once, for your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. How quickly they have turned aside from the way that I commanded them! They have made for themselves a
molten image.”
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth opened
her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.
For the land,
whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of
herbs:
For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you
sowed your seed and
irrigated on foot, like a vegetable garden.
And then the LORD’S wrath be
kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not
her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
or the anger of the LORD will be
kindled against you. He will shut the heavens so that there will be no rain, nor will the land yield its produce, and you will soon perish from the good land that the LORD is giving you.
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your
tithes, and
heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your
freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your
herds and of your flocks:
To that place you are to bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your
tithes and
heave offerings, your
vow offerings and
freewill offerings, as well as the
firstborn of your
herds and flocks.
Ye shall not do after all the things that we do
here this day, every man
whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
You are not to do as we are doing
here today, where
everyone does what seems right in his own eyes.
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the
tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy
herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy
freewill offerings, or
heave offering of thine hand:
Within your gates you must not eat the
tithe of your grain or new wine or oil, the
firstborn of your
herds or flocks, any of the offerings that you have
vowed to give, or your
freewill offerings or special gifts.
If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy
herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
If the place where the LORD your God chooses to put His Name is too far from you, then you may slaughter any of the
herd or flock He has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat it within your gates whenever you want.
And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the
tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy
herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the
firstborn of your
herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
You must set apart to the LORD your God every
firstborn male produced by your
herds and flocks. You are not to put the
firstborn of your oxen to work, nor are you to
shear the
firstborn of your flock.
Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the
passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the
herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there.
You are to offer to the LORD your God the
Passover sacrifice from the
herd or flock in the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for His Name.
And what man is there that hath
betrothed a wife, and hath not taken
her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take
her.
Has any man become
pledged to a woman and not married
her? Let him return home, or he may die in battle and another man marry
her.”
And seest among the
captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto
her, that thou wouldest have
her to thy wife;
if you see a beautiful woman among them, and you desire her and want to take her as your wife,
Then thou shalt bring
her home to thine house; and she shall
shave her head, and
pare her nails;
then you shall bring
her into your house. She must
shave her head,
trim her nails,
And she shall put the
raiment of
her captivity from off
her, and shall remain in thine house, and
bewail her father and
her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto
her, and be
her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
and put aside the clothing of
her captivity. After she has lived in your house a full month and
mourned her father and mother, you may have relations with
her and be
her husband, and she shall be your wife.
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in
her, then thou shalt let
her go
whither she will; but thou shalt not sell
her at all for money, thou shalt not make
merchandise of
her, because thou hast humbled
her.
And if you are not pleased with her, you are to let her go wherever she wishes. But you must not sell her for money or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.
If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another
hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the
hated; and if the
firstborn son be
hers that was
hated:
If a man has two wives, one beloved and the other unloved, and both bear him sons, but the unloved wife has the
firstborn son,
If any man take a wife, and go in unto
her, and
hate her,
Suppose a man marries a woman, has relations with
her, and comes to
hate her,
And give occasions of speech against
her, and bring up an evil name upon
her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to
her, I found
her not a
maid:
and he then accuses her of shameful conduct and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman and had relations with her, but I discovered she was not a virgin.”
Then shall the father of the
damsel, and
her mother, take and bring forth the
tokens of the
damsel’s
virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring the proof of
her virginity to the city elders at the gate
And the
damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth
her;
and say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he has come to
hate her.
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against
her, saying, I found not thy daughter a
maid; and yet these are the
tokens of my daughter’s
virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
And now he has accused
her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.’ But
here is the proof of
her virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.
And they shall
amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the
damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put
her away all his days.
They are also to fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given a virgin of Israel a bad name. And she shall remain his wife; he must not
divorce her as long as he lives.
Then they shall bring out the
damsel to the door of
her father’s house, and the men of
her city shall stone
her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the
whore in
her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
she shall be brought to the door of
her father’s house, and there the men of
her city will stone
her to death. For she has committed an
outrage in Israel by being
promiscuous in
her father’s house. So you must
purge the evil from among you.
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
If a man is found lying with another man’s wife, both the man who
slept with
her and the woman must die. You must
purge the evil from Israel.
If a
damsel that is a virgin be
betrothed unto an husband, and a man find
her in the city, and lie with
her;
If there is a virgin
pledged in marriage to a man, and another man encounters
her in the city and sleeps with
her,
But if a man find a
betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force
her, and lie with
her: then the man only that lay with
her shall die:
But if the man encounters a
betrothed woman in the open country, and he overpowers
her and lies with
her, only the man who has done this must die.
When he found
her in the field, the
betrothed woman
cried out, but there was no one to save
her.
If a man find a
damsel that is a virgin, which is not
betrothed, and lay hold on
her, and lie with
her, and they be found;
If a man encounters a virgin who is not
pledged in marriage, and he seizes
her and lies with
her, and they are discovered,
Then the man that lay with
her shall give unto the
damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled
her, he may not put
her away all his days.
then the man who lay with
her must pay the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she must become his wife because he has
violated her. He must not
divorce her as long as he lives.
When a man hath taken a wife, and married
her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in
her: then let him write
her a bill of
divorcement, and give it in
her hand, and send
her out of his house.
If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds some
indecency in
her, he may write
her a
certificate of
divorce, hand it to
her, and send
her away from his house.
And if the latter husband
hate her, and write
her a bill of
divorcement, and giveth it in
her hand, and sendeth
her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took
her to be his wife;
and the second man hates
her, writes
her a
certificate of
divorce, hands it to
her, and sends
her away from his house, or if he dies,
Her former husband, which sent
her away, may not take
her again to be his wife, after that she is
defiled; for that is
abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
then the husband who
divorced her first may not remarry
her after she has been
defiled, for that is an
abomination to the LORD. You must not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband’s brother unto her.
When brothers dwell together and one of them dies without a son, the widow must not marry outside the family.
Her husband’s brother is to take
her as his wife and
fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law for
her.
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
Then the elders of his city shall
summon him and speak with him. If he persists and says, “I do not want to marry
her,”
When men
strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver
her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth
her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
If two men are fighting, and the wife of one steps in to
rescue her husband from the one striking him, and she reaches out
her hand and grabs his
genitals,
Then thou shalt cut off
her hand, thine eye shall not
pity her.
you are to cut off
her hand. You must show
her no
pity.
