Who did no sin, neither was
guile found in
his mouth:
“He committed no sin, and no
deceit was found in
His mouth.”
Who
his own self bare our sins in
his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed.
He Himself bore our sins in
His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. “By
His stripes you are
healed.”
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and
his lips that they speak no
guile:
For, “
Whoever would love life and see good days must keep
his tongue from evil and
his lips from
deceitful speech.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm
yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
Therefore, since Christ suffered in
His body, arm
yourselves with the same
resolve, because
anyone who has suffered in
his body is done with sin.
That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God.
But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when
his glory shall be revealed, ye may be
glad also with exceeding joy.
But
rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of
His glory.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto
his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish,
strengthen, settle you.
And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to
His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore you, secure you,
strengthen you, and establish you.
According as
his divine power hath given unto us all things that
pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and
godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by
His own glory and excellence.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust.
Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see
afar off, and hath forgotten that he was
purged from
his old sins.
But
whoever lacks these traits is
nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been
cleansed from
his past sins.
For we have not followed
cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of
his majesty.
For we did not follow
cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of
His majesty.
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing,
vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was
tormented in
his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—
But was
rebuked for
his iniquity: the
dumb ass speaking with man’s voice
forbad the madness of the prophet.
But he was
rebuked for
his transgression by a
donkey, otherwise without speech, that spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
But it is happened unto them according to the true
proverb, The dog is turned to
his own
vomit again; and the
sow that was washed to her
wallowing in the
mire.
Of them the
proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its
vomit,” and, “A
sow that is washed goes back to her
wallowing in the mud.”
And saying, Where is the promise of
his coming? for since the fathers fell
asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
“Where is the promise of
His coming?” they will ask. “Ever since our fathers fell
asleep, everything continues as it has from the beginning of creation.”
The Lord is not slow in keeping
His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting
anyone to perish but
everyone to come to
repentance.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.
Therefore, beloved, as you
anticipate these things, make every effort to be found at peace—spotless and
blameless in
His sight.
As also in all
his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable
wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
He writes this way in all
his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of
his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people
distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have
fellowship with us: and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with
his Son Jesus Christ.
We
proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have
fellowship with us. And this
fellowship of ours is with the Father and with
His Son, Jesus Christ.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ
his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus
His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have not
sinned, we make him a
liar, and
his word is not in us.
If we say we have not
sinned, we make Him out to be a
liar, and
His word is not in us.
And
hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep
his commandments.
By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not
his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.
If
anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep
His commandments, he is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.
But
whoso keepeth
his word, in him
verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him.
But if
anyone keeps
His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him:
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
If
anyone claims to be in the light but hates
his brother, he is still in the darkness.
He that loveth
his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of
stumbling in him.
Whoever loves
his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of
stumbling in him.
But he that hateth
his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not
whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded
his eyes.
But
whoever hates
his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded
his eyes.
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are
forgiven you for
his name’s sake.
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been
forgiven through
His name.
But the
anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same
anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall
abide in him.
And as for you, the
anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need
anyone to teach you. But just as
His true and genuine
anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.
And now, little children,
abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be
ashamed before him at
his coming.
And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be
confident and unashamed before Him at
His coming.
Whosoever is born of God
doth not commit sin; for
his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on
sinning, because he has been born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:
whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not
his brother.
By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil:
Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is
anyone who does not love
his brother.
Not as
Cain, who was of that wicked one, and
slew his brother. And wherefore
slew he him? Because
his own works were evil, and
his brother’s righteous.
Do not be like
Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered
his brother. And why did
Cain slay him? Because
his own deeds were evil, while those of
his brother were righteous.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
Whosoever hateth
his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life
abiding in him.
Everyone who hates
his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down
his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
But
whoso hath this world’s good, and
seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up
his bowels of
compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
If
anyone with earthly possessions sees
his brother in need, but withholds
his compassion from him, how can the love of God
abide in him?
And
hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall
assure our hearts before him.
And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will
assure our hearts in
His presence:
And
whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep
his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in
his sight.
and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us.
And he that keepeth
his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And
hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Whoever keeps
His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent
his only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent
his Son to be the
propitiation for our sins.
And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent
His Son as the
atoning sacrifice for our sins.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of
his Spirit.
By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.
And we have seen and do
testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
And we have seen and
testify that the Father has sent
His Son to be the
Savior of the world.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth
his brother, he is a
liar: for he that loveth not
his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
If
anyone says, “I love God,” but hates
his brother, he is a
liar. For
anyone who does not love
his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
And we have this commandment from Him:
Whoever loves God must love
his brother as well.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep
his commandments: and
his commandments are not
grievous.
For this is the love of God, that we keep
His commandments. And
His commandments are not
burdensome,
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath
testified of
his Son.
Even if we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony that God has given about His Son.
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a
liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of
his Son.
Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him;
whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a
liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about
His Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
If
anyone sees
his brother
committing a sin not leading to death, he should ask God, who will give life to those who commit this kind of sin. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying he should ask regarding that sin.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Anyone who runs
ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God.
Whoever remains in
His teaching has both the Father and the Son.
For he that biddeth him God speed is
partaker of
his evil deeds.
Whoever greets such a person shares in
his evil deeds.
Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
For they went out on behalf of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember
his deeds which he doeth,
prating against us with
malicious words: and not content
therewith, neither
doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
So if I come, I will call attention to
his malicious slander against us. And unsatisfied with that, he refuses to
welcome the brothers and forbids those who want to do so, even putting them out of the church.
I will therefore put you in
remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe.
And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam,
prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of
his saints,
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also
prophesied about them: “Behold, the Lord is coming with myriads of
His holy ones
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Now to Him who is able to keep you from
stumbling and to present you
unblemished in
His glorious presence, with great joy—
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to
shew unto
his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and
signified it by
his angel unto
his servant John:
This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John,
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from Him who is and was and is to come, and from the seven Spirits before His throne,
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in
his own blood,
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the
firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by
His blood,
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and
his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.
who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to
His God and Father—to Him be the glory and power
forever and ever!
Amen.
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and
girt about the paps with a golden
girdle.
and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long
robe, with a golden
sash around
His chest.
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
The hair of
His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and
His eyes were like a
blazing fire.
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and
His voice was like the
roar of many waters.
And he had in
his right hand seven stars: and out of
his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword: and
his countenance was as the sun shineth in
his strength.
He held in
His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from
His mouth.
His face was like the sun
shining at its brightest.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last,
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and
repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy
candlestick out of
his place, except thou
repent.
Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen.
Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not
repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
And unto the angel of the church in
Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath
his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and
his feet are like fine brass;
To the angel of the church in
Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a
blazing fire and whose feet are like polished bronze.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment; and I will not
blot out
his name out of the book of life, but I will
confess his name before my Father, and before
his angels.
Like them, he who overcomes will be dressed in white. And I will never
blot out
his name from the Book of Life, but I will
confess his name before My Father and
His angels.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
To the one who overcomes, I will grant the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I
beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in
his hand.
And when the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” Then I looked and saw a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and
his name that sat on him was Death, and
Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Then I looked and saw a pale green horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to
withstand it?”
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
For this reason, they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and the One seated on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them.
The first angel sounded, and there followed
hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
Then the first angel sounded
his trumpet, and
hail and fire mixed with blood were
hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, along with a third of the trees and all the green grass.
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
Then the second angel sounded
his trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood,
And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
Then the third angel sounded
his trumpet, and a great star burning like a
torch fell from heaven and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was
smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was
darkened, and the day
shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
Then the fourth angel sounded
his trumpet, and a third of the sun and moon and stars were struck. A third of the stars were
darkened, a third of the day was without light, and a third of the night as well.
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Then the fifth angel sounded
his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the
Abyss.
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is
Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath
his name
Apollyon.
They were ruled by a king, the angel of the
Abyss.
His name in Hebrew is
Abaddon, and in Greek it is
Apollyon.
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
Then the sixth angel sounded
his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a
rainbow was upon
his head, and
his face was as it were the sun, and
his feet as pillars of fire:
Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven,
wrapped in a cloud, with a
rainbow above
his head.
His face was like the sun, and
his legs were like pillars of fire.
And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
He held in
his hand a small
scroll, which lay open. He placed
his right foot on the sea and
his left foot on the land.
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the
mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to
his servants the prophets.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound
his trumpet, the
mystery of God will be fulfilled, just as He proclaimed to
His servants the prophets.”
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Then the seventh angel sounded
his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of
His Christ, and He will reign
forever and ever.”
And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in
his temple the ark of
his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an
earthquake, and great
hail.
Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of
His covenant appeared in
His temple. And there were
flashes of
lightning, and rumblings, and peals of
thunder, and an
earthquake, and a great
hailstorm.
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red
dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon
his heads.
Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red
dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven royal crowns on
his heads.
And
his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the
dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to
devour her child as soon as it was born.
His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky,
tossing them to the earth. And the
dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, ready to
devour her child as soon as she gave birth.
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron
scepter. And her child was caught up to God and to
His throne.
