(There are eleven days’ journey from
Horeb by the way of
mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)
It is an eleven-day journey from
Horeb to Kadesh-barnea by way of
Mount Seir.
The LORD our God spake unto us in
Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this
mount:
The LORD our God said to us at
Horeb: “You have stayed at this
mountain long enough.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the
mount of the
Amorites, and unto all the places
nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the
vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the
Canaanites, and unto
Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the
Amorites; go to all the
neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the foothills, in the Negev, and along the
seacoast to the land of the
Canaanites and to
Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
And when we departed from
Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the
mountain of the
Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
And just as the LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from
Horeb and went toward the hill country of the
Amorites, through all the vast and
terrifying wilderness you have seen. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the
mountain of the
Amorites, which the LORD our God
doth give unto us.
I said: “You have reached the hill country of the
Amorites, which the LORD our God is giving us.
And they turned and went up into the
mountain, and came unto the valley of
Eshcol, and searched it out.
They left and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of
Eshcol and
spied out the land.
And the
Amorites, which dwelt in that
mountain, came out against you, and
chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in
Seir, even unto Hormah.
Then the
Amorites who lived in the hills came out against you and
chased you like a
swarm of bees. They routed you from
Seir all the way to Hormah.
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed
mount Seir many days.
Then we turned back and headed for the wilderness by way of the Red Sea, as the LORD had
instructed me, and for many days we
wandered around
Mount Seir.
Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
“You have been wandering around this hill country long enough; turn to the north
Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a
footbreadth; because I have given
mount Seir unto
Esau for a possession.
Do not
provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even a
footprint, because I have given
Mount Seir to
Esau as his possession.
Only unto the land of the children of
Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river
Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the
mountains, nor unto
whatsoever the LORD our God
forbad us.
But you did not go near the land of the
Ammonites, or the land along the banks of the
Jabbok River, or the cities of the hill country, or any place that the LORD our God had forbidden.
And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the
Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of
Arnon unto
mount Hermon;
At that time we took from the two kings of the
Amorites the land across the Jordan, from the
Arnon Valley as far as
Mount Hermon—
And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river
Arnon, and half
mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
So at that time we took possession of this land. To the Reubenites and Gadites I gave the land beyond Aroer along the
Arnon Valley, and half the hill country of
Gilead, along with its cities.
I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly
mountain, and
Lebanon.
Please let me cross over and see the good land beyond the Jordan—that pleasant hill country as well as
Lebanon!”
And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
You came near and stood at the base of the
mountain, a
mountain blazing with fire to the heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.
From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river
Arnon, even unto
mount Sion, which is
Hermon,
extending from Aroer on the
rim of the
Arnon Valley as far as
Mount Siyon (that is,
Hermon),
The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
The LORD spoke with you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.
(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to
shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the
mount;) saying,
At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. And He said:
These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
The LORD spoke these commandments in a loud voice to your whole assembly out of the fire, the cloud, and the deep darkness on the mountain; He added nothing more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
And when you heard the voice out of the darkness while the
mountain was
blazing with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me,
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
When I went up on the
mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD made with you, I stayed on the
mountain forty days and forty nights. I
ate no bread and
drank no water.
And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
Then the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, inscribed by the finger of God with the exact words that the LORD spoke to you out of the fire on the mountain on the day of the assembly.
So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
So I went back down the
mountain while it was
blazing with fire, with the two tablets of the covenant in my hands.
And I took your sin, the
calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the
brook that descended out of the
mount.
And I took that sinful thing, the
calf you had made, and burned it in the fire. Then I
crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust, and I cast it into the stream that came down from the
mountain.
At that time the LORD said unto me,
Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the
mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
At that time the LORD said to me, “
Chisel out two stone tablets like the originals, come up to Me on the
mountain, and make an ark of wood.
And I made an ark of
shittim wood, and
hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the
mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
So I made an ark of
acacia wood,
chiseled out two stone tablets like the originals, and went up the
mountain with the two tablets in my hands.
And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
And the LORD wrote on the tablets what had been written previously, the Ten Commandments that He had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly. The LORD gave them to me,
And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.
and I went back down the mountain and placed the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD had commanded me; and there they have remained.
And I stayed in the
mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD
hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
I stayed on the
mountain forty days and forty nights, like the first time, and that time the LORD again
listened to me and agreed not to destroy you.
But the land,
whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
But the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks in the rain from heaven.
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land
whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon
mount Gerizim, and the
curse upon
mount Ebal.
When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, you are to
proclaim the blessing on
Mount Gerizim and the
curse on
Mount Ebal.
Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the
Canaanites, which dwell in the
champaign over against
Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
Are not these
mountains across the Jordan, west of the road toward the
sunset, in the land of the
Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite
Gilgal near the Oak of Moreh?
Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
Destroy completely all the places where the nations you are dispossessing have served their gods—
atop the high
mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.
Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in
mount Ebal, and thou shalt
plaister them with
plaister.
And when you have crossed the Jordan, you are to set up these stones on
Mount Ebal, as I am commanding you
today, and you are to coat them with
plaster.
These shall stand upon
mount Gerizim to
bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan;
Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and
Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
“When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes shall stand on
Mount Gerizim to
bless the people:
Simeon, Levi, Judah,
Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
For a fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest
hell, and shall
consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the
mountains.
For a fire has been
kindled by My anger, and it burns to the depths of
Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the
mountains.
Get thee up into this
mountain Abarim, unto
mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against
Jericho; and behold the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
“Go up into the Abarim Range to
Mount Nebo, in the land of Moab across from
Jericho, and view the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites as their own possession.
And die in the
mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in
mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
And there on the
mountain that you
climb, you will die and be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on
Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.
And he said, The LORD came from
Sinai, and rose up from
Seir unto them; he
shined forth from
mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a
fiery law for them.
He said: “The LORD came from
Sinai and
dawned upon us from
Seir; He
shone forth from
Mount Paran and came with myriads of holy ones, with flaming fire at His right hand.
And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills,
They shall call the people unto the
mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall
suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures
hid in the sand.
They will call the peoples to a mountain; there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness. For they will feast on the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand.”
And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the
mountain of
Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, that is over against
Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of
Gilead, unto
Dan,
Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to
Mount Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, which faces
Jericho. And the LORD showed him the whole land—from
Gilead as far as
Dan,
And she said unto them, Get you to the
mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide
yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
“Go to the hill country,” she said, “so that your pursuers will not find you. Hide
yourselves there for three days until they have returned; then go on your way.”
And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
So the
spies went out into the hill country and stayed there three days, until their pursuers had returned without finding them, having searched all along the road.
So the two men returned, and descended from the
mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of
Nun, and told him all things that
befell them:
Then the two men started back, came down from the hill country, and crossed the river. So they came to Joshua son of
Nun and reported all that had happened to them.
Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in
mount Ebal,
At that time Joshua built an altar on
Mount Ebal to the LORD, the God of Israel,
And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against
mount Gerizim, and half of them over against
mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should
bless the people of Israel.
All Israel, foreigners and citizens alike, with their elders, officers, and judges, stood on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the LORD facing the
Levitical priests who carried it. Half of the people stood in front of
Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of
Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded earlier, to
bless the people of Israel.
And the men of
Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to
Gilgal, saying,
Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the
Amorites that dwell in the
mountains are gathered together against us.
Then the men of
Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at
Gilgal: “Do not
abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, because all the kings of the
Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
And to the kings that were on the north of the
mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of
Dor on the west,
to the kings of the north in the
mountains, in the Arabah south of Chinnereth, in the foothills, and in Naphoth-
dor to the west;
And to the
Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the
mountains, and to the Hivite under
Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of
Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the
mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
So Joshua took this entire region: the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of
Goshen, the western foothills, the Arabah, and the
mountains of Israel and their foothills,
Even from the
mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir, even unto
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon under
mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and
smote them, and
slew them.
from
Mount Halak, which rises toward
Seir, as far as
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon at the foot of
Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down, putting them to death.
And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the
mountains, from
Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the
mountains of Judah, and from all the
mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
At that time Joshua proceeded to
eliminate the
Anakim from the hill country of
Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah and of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction, along with their cities.
Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel
smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river
Arnon unto
mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:
Now these are the kings of the land whom the Israelites struck down and whose lands they took beyond the Jordan to the east, from the
Arnon Valley to
Mount Hermon, including all the Arabah eastward:
And reigned in
mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all
Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half
Gilead, the border of Sihon king of
Heshbon.
He ruled over
Mount Hermon, Salecah, all of
Bashan up to the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and half of
Gilead to the border of Sihon king of
Heshbon.
And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel
smote on this side Jordan on the west, from
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon even unto the
mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
And these are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered beyond the Jordan to the west, from
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon to
Mount Halak, which rises toward
Seir (according to the allotments to the tribes of Israel, Joshua gave them as an inheritance
In the
mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, the
Perizzites, the
Hivites, and the Jebusites:
the hill country, the foothills, the Arabah, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the lands of the
Hittites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and Jebusites):
And
Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all
mount Hermon, and all
Bashan unto Salcah;
also
Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all of
Mount Hermon, and all
Bashan as far as Salecah—
And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar on the hill in the valley,
Now therefore give me this
mountain,
whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and
fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
Now therefore give me this hill country that the LORD promised me on that day, for you
yourself heard then that the
Anakim were there, with great and fortified cities. Perhaps with the LORD’s help I will drive them out, as the LORD has spoken.”
And the border went up by the valley of the son of
Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the
mountain that lieth before the valley of
Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:
From there the border went up the Valley of
Hinnom along the southern slope of the Jebusites (that is, Jerusalem) and ascended to the top of the hill that faces the Valley of
Hinnom on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of
Rephaim.
And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim:
From the
hilltop the border curved to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, proceeded to the cities of
Mount Ephron, and then bent around toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).
And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto
mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of
mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:
The border
curled westward from Baalah to
Mount Seir, ran along the northern slope of
Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and crossed to Timnah.
And the border went out unto the side of
Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to
mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.
Then it went out to the northern slope of
Ekron, curved toward Shikkeron, proceeded to
Mount Baalah, went on to Jabneel, and ended at the Sea.
And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,
These were in the hill country:
And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by
Jericho, unto the water of
Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from
Jericho throughout
mount Bethel,
The
allotment for the descendants of Joseph extended from the Jordan at
Jericho to the waters of
Jericho on the east, through the wilderness that goes up from
Jericho into the hill country of
Bethel.
And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for
thyself there in the land of the
Perizzites and of the giants, if
mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
Joshua answered them, “If you have so many people that the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go to the forest and clear for
yourself an area in the land of the
Perizzites and the
Rephaim.”
But the
mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the
Canaanites, though they have iron
chariots, and though they be strong.
because the hill country will be yours as well. It is a forest; clear it, and its
farthest limits will be yours. Although the
Canaanites have iron
chariots and although they are strong, you can drive them out.”
And their border on the north side was from Jordan; and the border went up to the side of
Jericho on the north side, and went up through the
mountains westward; and the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of Beth-
aven.
On the north side their border began at the Jordan, went up past the northern slope of
Jericho, headed west through the hill country, and came out at the wilderness of Beth-
aven.
And the border came down to the end of the
mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of
Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of
Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to En-rogel,
Then it went down to the foot of the hill that faces the Valley of
Hinnom at the northern end of the Valley of
Rephaim and ran down the Valley of
Hinnom toward the southern slope of the Jebusites and
downward to En-rogel.
According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnath-serah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.
as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the city of Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim, as he requested. He rebuilt the city and settled in it.
And they appointed Kedesh in
Galilee in
mount Naphtali, and
Shechem in
mount Ephraim, and Kirjath-arba, which is
Hebron, in the
mountain of Judah.
So they set apart Kedesh in
Galilee in the hill country of
Naphtali,
Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is,
Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.
For they gave them
Shechem with her suburbs in
mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the
slayer; and
Gezer with her suburbs,
From the tribe of Ephraim they were given
Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a city of refuge for the
manslayer),
Gezer,
And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and
Esau: and I gave unto
Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
and to Isaac I gave Jacob and
Esau. I gave
Esau Mount Seir to possess, but Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.
And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
And
Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that
pertained to
Phinehas his son, which was given him in
mount Ephraim.
Eleazar son of Aaron also died, and they buried him at Gibeah, which had been given to his son
Phinehas in the hill country of Ephraim.
And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the
Canaanites, that dwelt in the
mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
Afterward, the men of Judah marched down to fight against the
Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev, and in the foothills.
And the LORD was with Judah; and he
drave out the inhabitants of the
mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had
chariots of iron.
The LORD was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plains because they had
chariots of iron.
And the
Amorites forced the children of
Dan into the
mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:
The
Amorites forced the Danites into the hill country and did not allow them to come down into the plain.
But the
Amorites would dwell in
mount Heres in
Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.
And the
Amorites were determined to dwell in
Mount Heres,
Aijalon, and Shaalbim. But when the house of Joseph grew in strength, they pressed the
Amorites into forced labor.
And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
They buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath-heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
And it came to pass, when he was come, that he
blew a
trumpet in the
mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the
mount, and he before them.
On arriving in Seirah, he
blew the ram’s horn throughout the hill country of Ephraim. The Israelites came down with him from the hills, and he became their leader.
And she dwelt under the palm tree of
Deborah between
Ramah and
Bethel in
mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
And she would sit under the Palm of
Deborah between
Ramah and
Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, where the Israelites would go up to her for judgment.
And she sent and called
Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-
naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward
mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of
Naphtali and of the children of
Zebulun?
She summoned
Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in
Naphtali and said to him, “Surely the LORD, the God of Israel, is commanding you: ‘Go and march to
Mount Tabor, taking with you ten thousand men of
Naphtali and
Zebulun.
And they shewed Sisera that
Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to
mount Tabor.
When Sisera was told that
Barak son of Abinoam had gone up
Mount Tabor,
And
Deborah said unto
Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So
Barak went down from
mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
Then
Deborah said to
Barak, “Arise, for this is the day that the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the LORD gone before you?” So
Barak came down from
Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.
The
mountains melted from before the LORD, even that
Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.
The
mountains quaked before the LORD, the One of
Sinai, before the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the hand of
Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the
mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
and the hand of
Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in the
mountains, caves, and strongholds.
Now therefore go to,
proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,
Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from
mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
Now, therefore,
proclaim in the hearing of the people: ‘
Whoever is fearful and
trembling may turn back and leave
Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of them turned back, but ten thousand remained.
And

wander for two months through the
mountains with my friends and
mourn my
virginity.”
