Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
You will be fuel for the fire. Your blood will
stain your
own land. You will not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.’”
Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to
defile herself.
and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘O city who brings her
own doom by
shedding blood within her walls and making idols to
defile herself,
And one hath committed
abomination with his neighbour’s wife; and another hath
lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father’s daughter.
One man commits an
abomination with his
neighbor’s wife; another wickedly defiles his daughter-in-law; and yet another
violates his sister, his
own father’s daughter.
Therefore have I poured out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their
own way have I
recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
So I have poured out My
indignation upon them and consumed them with the fire of My
fury. I have brought their ways down upon their
own heads, declares the Lord GOD.”
And they shall come against thee with
chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee
buckler and shield and
helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
They will come against you with a host of peoples, with weapons,
chariots, and wagons. They will
array themselves against you on every side with
buckler and shield and
helmet. I will
delegate judgment to them, and they will
punish you according to their
own standards.
Thou shalt even drink it and
suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and
pluck off thine
own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You will drink it and
drain it; you will
dash it to pieces, and
tear your breasts. For I have spoken,’ declares the Lord GOD.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be
sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will dwell in their own land, which I have given to My servant Jacob.
Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great
dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine
own, and I have made it for myself.
Speak to him and tell him that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great
monster who lies among his rivers, who says, ‘The Nile is mine; I made it myself.’
Yea, I will make many people
amazed at thee, and their kings shall be
horribly afraid for thee, when I shall
brandish my sword before them; and they shall
tremble at every moment, every man for his
own life, in the day of thy fall.
I will cause many peoples to be
appalled over you, and their kings will
shudder in
horror because of you when I
brandish My sword before them. On the day of your
downfall each of them will
tremble every moment for his life.’
Then
whosoever heareth the sound of the
trumpet, and taketh not
warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his
own head.
Then if
anyone hears the sound of the horn but fails to
heed the
warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his
own head.
He heard the sound of the
trumpet, and took not
warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh
warning shall deliver his soul.
Since he heard the sound of the horn but failed to
heed the
warning, his blood will be on his
own head. If he had
heeded the
warning, he would have saved his life.
When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but he then trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, then none of his righteous works will be remembered; he will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
I will bring them out from the peoples, gather them from the countries, and bring them into their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines, and in all the settlements of the land.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all
Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with
despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Surely in My burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all
Edom, who took My land as their
own possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, so that its pastureland became
plunder.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I have
sworn with an
uplifted hand that surely the nations around you will
endure reproach of their
own.
Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their
own land, they
defiled it by their
own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
“Son of man, when the people of Israel lived in their land, they
defiled it by their
own ways and deeds. Their
behavior before Me was like the uncleanness of a woman’s impurity.
For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and I will bring you back into your own land.
Then shall ye remember your
own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall
lothe yourselves in your
own sight for your
iniquities and for your abominations.
Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be
ashamed and confounded for your
own ways, O house of Israel.
It is not for your sake that I will act, declares the Lord GOD—let it be known to you. Be
ashamed and disgraced for your ways, O house of Israel!
And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
I will put My Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it, declares the LORD.’”
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen,
whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their
own land:
you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the Israelites out of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them from all around and bring them into their own land.
Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, when I regather them to their own land, not leaving any of them behind after their exile among the nations.
Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
The prince must not take any of the inheritance of the people by
evicting them from their property. He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his
own property, so that none of My people will be displaced from his property.’”
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will
own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their
own God.
Nebuchadnezzar declared, “Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They
violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their
own God.
There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king
Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the days of your father he was found to have insight, intelligence, and wisdom like that of the gods. Your father, King
Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners. Your
own father, the king,
And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his
own signet, and with the
signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his
own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that nothing concerning Daniel could be changed.
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his
own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall
prosper, and
practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
His power will be great, but it will not be his own. He will cause terrible destruction and succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men along with the holy people.
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to
prosper in his hand; and he shall
magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Through his craft and by his hand, he will cause
deceit to
prosper, and in his
own mind he will make himself great. In a time of peace he will destroy many, and he will even stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be broken off, but not by human hands.
O Lord, hear; O Lord,
forgive; O Lord,
hearken and do;
defer not, for thine
own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
O Lord,
listen! O Lord,
forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear Your name.”
And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
The king of the South will grow strong, but one of his commanders will grow even stronger and will rule his own kingdom with great authority.
So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.
who will
invade the realm of the king of the South and then return to his
own land.
And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall
exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
In those times many will rise up against the king of the South. Violent ones among your
own people will
exalt themselves in
fulfillment of the vision, but they will fail.
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
The
invader will do as he pleases, and no one will stand against him. He will establish himself in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his hand.
After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.
Then he will turn his face to the coastlands and capture many of them. But a commander will put an end to his reproach and will turn it back upon him.
Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his
own land: but he shall
stumble and fall, and not be found.
After this, he will turn back toward the fortresses of his
own land, but he will
stumble and fall and be no more.
Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.
The king of the North will return to his land with great wealth, but his heart will be set against the holy covenant; so he will do damage and return to his own land.
And I will
sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
And I will
sow her as My
own in the land, and I will have
compassion on ‘No
Compassion.’ I will say to those called ‘Not My People,’ ‘You are My people,’ and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their
own doings have
beset them about; they are before my face.
But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
They set up kings, but not by Me. They make princes, but without My
approval. With their silver and gold they make themselves idols, to their
own destruction.
For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild
ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath
hired lovers.
For they have gone up to Assyria like a wild
donkey on its
own. Ephraim has
hired lovers.
It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be
ashamed of his
own counsel.
Yes, it will be carried to Assyria as tribute to the great king. Ephraim will be seized with shame; Israel will be
ashamed of its wooden idols.
Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have
reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou
didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
You have
plowed wickedness and
reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your
own way and in the multitude of your mighty men,
And the sword shall
abide on his cities, and shall
consume his branches, and
devour them, because of their
own counsels.
A sword will
flash through their cities; it will destroy the bars of their gates and
consume them in their
own plans.
And now they sin more and more, and have made them
molten images of their silver, and idols according to their
own understanding, all of it the work of the
craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice
kiss the
calves.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols
skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of
craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and
kiss the
calves!”
Asshur shall not save us; we will not
ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
Assyria will not save us, nor will we
ride on horses. We will never again say, ‘Our gods!’ to the work of our
own hands. For in You the fatherless find
compassion.”
Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye
recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your
own head;
Now what do you have against Me, O Tyre,
Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you rendering against Me a
recompense? If you
retaliate against Me, I will swiftly and speedily return your
recompense upon your heads.
Behold, I will raise them out of the place
whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your
own head:
Behold, I will
rouse them from the places to which you sold them; I will return your
recompense upon your heads.
That
chant to the sound of the
viol, and
invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;
Ye which
rejoice in a thing of
nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our
own strength?
you who
rejoice in Lo-
debar and say, ‘Did we not take Karnaim by our
own strength?’
For thus
Amos saith,
Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away
captive out of their
own land.
for this is what
Amos has said: ‘
Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
I will firmly plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
For the Day of the LORD is near for all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your
recompense will return upon your
own head.
Then the mariners were afraid, and
cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to
lighten it of them. But
Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast
asleep.
The sailors were afraid, and each
cried out to his
own god. And they threw the ship’s
cargo into the sea to
lighten the load. But
Jonah had gone down to the lowest part of the vessel, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
Those who
cling to worthless idols
forsake His loving devotion.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto
Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a
gracious God, and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my
own country? This is why I was so quick to
flee toward
Tarshish. I knew that You are a
gracious and
compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending
disaster.
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
And each man will sit under his
own vine and under his
own fig tree, with no one to
frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken.
Thy
graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.
I will also cut off the carved images and sacred pillars from among you, so that you will no longer bow down to the work of your own hands.
For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own household.
For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and
hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans— that
ruthless and
impetuous nation which marches through the breadth of the earth to seize dwellings not their
own.
Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and
offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
Then they
sweep by like the wind and pass on through. They are guilty; their
own strength is their god.”
Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as
hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people:
and wealth indeed betrays him. He is an
arrogant man never at rest. He enlarges his
appetite like
Sheol, and like Death, he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to himself and collects all the peoples as his
own.
What profiteth the
graven image that the maker thereof hath
graven it; the
molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make
dumb idols?
What use is an
idol, that a
craftsman should
carve it— or an image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his
own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.
With his
own spear You pierced his head, when his warriors stormed out to
scatter us,
gloating as though ready to secretly
devour the weak.
The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will
famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
The LORD will be
terrifying to them when He starves all the gods of the earth. Then the nations of every shore will bow in worship to Him, each in its
own place.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his
own house.
For, behold, I will
shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a
spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become
plunder for their
own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, you will each
invite your
neighbor to sit under your
own vine and fig tree.’”
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of
Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her
own base.
“To build a house for it in the land of
Shinar,” he told me. “And when it is ready, the
basket will be set there on its
pedestal.”
And I will
encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no
oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
But I will camp around My house because of an army, because of those who march to and
fro, and never again will an
oppressor overrun My people, for now I keep watch with My
own eyes.
Whose possessors
slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their
own shepherds pity them not.
whose buyers slaughter them without
remorse. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the LORD, for I am rich!’ Even their
own shepherds have no
compassion on them.
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an
hearth of fire among the wood, and like a
torch of fire in a
sheaf; and they shall
devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her
own place, even in Jerusalem.
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a
firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming
torch among the
sheaves; they will
consume all the peoples around them on the right and on the left, while the people of Jerusalem remain secure there.
And the land shall
mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of
Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
The land will
mourn, each clan on its
own: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of
Nathan and their wives,
And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be
magnified from the border of Israel.
You will see this with your
own eyes, and you
yourselves will say, ‘The LORD is great—even beyond the borders of Israel.’”
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will
spare them, as a man spareth his
own son that serveth him.
“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My
treasured possession. And I will
spare them as a man spares his
own son who serves him.
And being
warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their
own country another way.
And having been
warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they withdrew to their country by another route.
Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
And why beholdest thou the
mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine
own eye?
Why do you look at the
speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice the beam in your
own eye?
Or how
wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the
mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine
own eye?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the
speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your
own eye?
Thou
hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine
own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the
mote out of thy brother’s eye.
You
hypocrite! First take the beam out of your
own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother’s eye.
But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead
bury their dead.
But Jesus told him, “Follow Me, and let the dead
bury their
own dead.”
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town.
And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir,
didst not thou
sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
The
owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you
sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’
And when he was come into his
own country, he taught them in their
synagogue,
insomuch that they were
astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
Coming to His hometown, He taught the people in their
synagogue, and they were
astonished. “Where did this man get such wisdom and
miraculous powers?” they asked.
And they were
offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his
own country, and in his
own house.
And they took
offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his
own household is a prophet without honor.”
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
He saith,
Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their
own children, or of strangers?
“
Yes,” he answered. When Peter entered the house, Jesus
preempted him. “What do you think, Simon?” He asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs and taxes: from their
own sons, or from others?”
But
forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
Since the man was unable to pay, the master ordered that he be sold to pay his debt, along with his wife and children and everything he owned.
So when even was come, the lord of the
vineyard saith unto his
steward, Call the labourers, and give them their
hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
When evening came, the
owner of the
vineyard said to his
foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last ones
hired and moving on to the first.’
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
Do I not have the right to do as I please with what is mine? Or are you
envious because I am generous?’
Therefore, when the
owner of the
vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
For it is just like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted them with his possessions.
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and
straightway took his journey.
To one he gave five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent—each according to his own ability. And he went on his journey.
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine
own with
usury.
Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest.
And after that they had
mocked him, they took the
robe off from him, and put his
own raiment on him, and led him away to
crucify him.
After they had
mocked Him, they removed the
robe and put His
own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him away to
crucify Him.
