And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat.
“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘You are not to eat any of the fat of an ox, a sheep, or a goat.
And
the fat of
the beast that dieth of itself, and
the fat of that which is
torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.
The fat of an animal found dead or
mauled by wild beasts may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.
For
whosoever eateth
the fat of
the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto
the LORD, even
the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.
If
anyone eats
the fat of an animal from which an offering made by fire may be presented to
the LORD,
the one who eats it must be cut off from his people.
Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings.
You must not eat the blood of any bird or animal in any of your dwellings.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
Speak unto
the children of Israel, saying, He that offereth
the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto
the LORD shall bring his
oblation unto
the LORD of
the sacrifice of his peace offerings.
“Speak to
the Israelites and say, ‘
Anyone who presents a peace offering to
the LORD must bring it as his sacrifice to
the LORD.
His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the LORD.
With his own hands he is to bring the offerings made by fire to the LORD; he shall bring the fat, together with the breast, and wave the breast as a wave offering before the LORD.
And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron’s and his sons’.
The priest is to burn the fat on the altar, but the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons.
And
the right shoulder shall ye give unto
the priest for an
heave offering of
the sacrifices of your peace offerings.
And you are to give
the right
thigh to
the priest as a contribution from your peace offering.
He among the sons of Aaron, that offereth the blood of the peace offerings, and the fat, shall have the right shoulder for his part.
The son of Aaron who presents
the blood and fat of
the peace offering shall have
the right
thigh as a portion.
For
the wave breast and
the heave shoulder have I taken of
the children of Israel from off
the sacrifices of
their peace offerings, and have given
them unto Aaron
the priest and unto his sons by a statute for ever from among
the children of Israel.
I have taken from
the sons of Israel
the breast of
the wave offering and
the thigh of
the contribution of
their peace offerings, and I have given
them to Aaron
the priest and his sons as a permanent portion from
the sons of Israel.’”
This is
the portion of
the anointing of Aaron, and of
the anointing of his sons, out of
the offerings of
the LORD made by fire, in
the day when he presented
them to minister unto
the LORD in
the priest’s office;
This is the portion of the offerings made by fire to the LORD for Aaron and his sons since the day they were presented to serve the LORD as priests.
Which
the LORD commanded to be given
them of
the children of Israel, in
the day that he
anointed them, by a statute for ever throughout
their generations.
On
the day
they were
anointed,
the LORD commanded that this be given
them by
the sons of Israel. It is a permanent portion for
the generations to come.
This is
the law of
the burnt offering, of
the meat offering, and of
the sin offering, and of
the trespass offering, and of
the consecrations, and of
the sacrifice of
the peace offerings;
This is
the law of
the burnt offering,
the grain offering,
the sin offering,
the guilt offering,
the ordination offering, and
the peace offering,
Which
the LORD commanded Moses in mount
Sinai, in
the day that he commanded
the children of Israel to offer
their oblations unto
the LORD, in
the wilderness of
Sinai.
which
the LORD gave Moses on Mount
Sinai on
the day He commanded
the Israelites to present
their offerings to
the LORD in
the Wilderness of
Sinai.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
“Take Aaron and his sons,
their garments,
the anointing oil,
the bull of
the sin offering,
the two rams, and
the basket of
unleavened bread,
And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
and
assemble the whole congregation at
the entrance to
the Tent of Meeting.”
And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
So Moses did as the LORD had commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And Moses said unto the congregation, This is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done.
And Moses said to them, “This is what the LORD has commanded to be done.”
And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.
Then Moses presented Aaron and his sons and washed them with water.
Then he put
the breastpiece on him and placed
the Urim and
Thummim in
the breastpiece.
And he put
the mitre upon his head; also upon
the mitre, even upon his
forefront, did he put
the golden plate,
the holy crown; as
the LORD commanded Moses.
Moses also put
the turban on Aaron’s head and set
the gold plate,
the holy
diadem, on
the front of
the turban, as
the LORD had commanded him.
Next, Moses took
the anointing oil and
anointed the tabernacle and everything in it; and so he consecrated
them.
He
sprinkled some of
the oil on
the altar seven times,
anointing the altar and all its utensils, and
the basin with its stand, to
consecrate them.
And Moses brought Aaron’s sons, and put coats upon
them, and
girded them with girdles, and put bonnets upon
them; as
the LORD commanded Moses.
Then Moses presented Aaron’s sons, put tunics on
them,
wrapped sashes around
them, and
tied headbands on
them, just as
the LORD had commanded him.
And he brought
the bullock for
the sin offering: and Aaron and his sons laid
their hands upon
the head of
the bullock for
the sin offering.
Moses then brought the bull near for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.
And he
slew it; and Moses took
the blood, and put it upon
the horns of
the altar round about with his finger, and
purified the altar, and poured
the blood at
the bottom of
the altar, and
sanctified it, to make
reconciliation upon it.
Moses slaughtered
the bull, took some of
the blood, and applied it with his finger to all four horns of
the altar,
purifying the altar. He poured out
the rest of
the blood at
the base of
the altar and consecrated it so that
atonement could be made on it.
And he took all
the fat that was upon
the inwards, and
caul above
the liver, and
the two
kidneys, and
their fat, and Moses burned it upon
the altar.
Moses also took all
the fat that was on
the entrails,
the lobe of
the liver, and both
kidneys and
their fat, and burned it all on
the altar.
But
the bullock, and his hide, his flesh, and his dung, he burnt with fire without
the camp; as
the LORD commanded Moses.
But the bull with its hide, flesh, and dung he burned outside the camp, as the LORD had commanded him.
And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.
Then Moses presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.
And he killed it; and Moses
sprinkled the blood upon
the altar round about.
Moses slaughtered
the ram and
sprinkled the blood on all sides of
the altar.
And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat.
He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces, and the fat.
And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
He washed
the entrails and legs with water and burned
the entire ram on
the altar as a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to
the LORD, just as
the LORD had commanded Moses.
And he brought
the other ram,
the ram of
consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid
their hands upon
the head of
the ram.
After that, Moses presented
the other ram,
the ram of
ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid
their hands on its head.
And he
slew it; and Moses took of
the blood of it, and put it upon
the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon
the thumb of his right hand, and upon
the great
toe of his right foot.
Moses slaughtered
the ram and took some of its blood and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, on
the thumb of his right hand, and on
the big toe of his right foot.
And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of
the blood upon
the tip of
their right ear, and upon
the thumbs of
their right hands, and upon
the great toes of
their right feet: and Moses
sprinkled the blood upon
the altar round about.
Moses also presented Aaron’s sons and put some of
the blood on
their right earlobes, on
the thumbs of
their right hands, and on
the big toes of
their right feet.
Then he
sprinkled the blood on all sides of
the altar.
And he took
the fat, and
the rump, and all
the fat that was upon
the inwards, and
the caul above
the liver, and
the two
kidneys, and
their fat, and
the right shoulder:
And Moses took
the fat—
the fat tail, all
the fat that was on
the entrails,
the lobe of
the liver, and both
kidneys with
their fat—as well as
the right
thigh.
And he put all upon Aaron’s hands, and upon his sons’ hands, and waved them for a wave offering before the LORD.
He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and waved them before the LORD as a wave offering.
And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Then Moses took
these from
their hands and burned
them on
the altar with
the burnt offering. This was an
ordination offering, a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to
the LORD.
And Moses took
the breast, and waved it for a wave offering before
the LORD: for of
the ram of
consecration it was Moses’ part; as
the LORD commanded Moses.
He also took
the breast—Moses’ portion of
the ram of
ordination—and waved it before
the LORD as a wave offering, as
the LORD had commanded him.
And Moses took of
the anointing oil, and of
the blood which was upon
the altar, and
sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and
sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
Next, Moses took some of
the anointing oil and some of
the blood that was on
the altar and
sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments, and on his sons and
their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments, as well as Aaron’s sons and
their garments.
And Moses said unto Aaron and to his sons,
Boil the flesh at
the door of
the tabernacle of
the congregation: and
there eat it with
the bread that is in
the basket of consecrations, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.
And Moses said to Aaron and his sons, “
Boil the meat at
the entrance to
the Tent of Meeting and eat it
there with
the bread that is in
the basket of
ordination offerings, as I commanded, saying, ‘Aaron and his sons are to eat it.’
And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire.
Then you must burn up the remainder of the meat and bread.
And ye shall not go out of
the door of
the tabernacle of
the congregation in seven days, until
the days of your
consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he
consecrate you.
You must not go outside
the entrance to
the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until
the days of your
ordination are complete; for it will take seven days to
ordain you.
As he hath done this day, so
the LORD hath commanded to do, to make an
atonement for you.
What has been done
today has been commanded by
the LORD in order to make
atonement on your behalf.
Therefore shall ye
abide at
the door of
the tabernacle of
the congregation day and night seven days, and keep
the charge of
the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.
You must remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and keep the LORD’s charge so that you will not die, for this is what I have been commanded.”
So Aaron and his sons did all things which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
So Aaron and his sons did everything the LORD had commanded through Moses.
And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel.
And he said unto Aaron, Take
thee a young
calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without
blemish, and offer
them before
the LORD.
He said to Aaron, “Take for
yourself a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without
blemish, and present
them before
the LORD.
And unto
the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a
kid of
the goats for a sin offering; and a
calf and a lamb, both of
the first year, without
blemish, for a burnt offering;
Then speak to
the Israelites and say, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, a
calf and a lamb—both a year old and without
blemish—for a burnt offering,
Also a
bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before
the LORD; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day
the LORD will appear unto you.
an ox and a ram for a peace offering to sacrifice before
the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil. For
today the LORD will appear to you.’”
And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.
So they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the Tent of Meeting, and the whole congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.
And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.
And Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”
And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto
the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an
atonement for
thyself, and for
the people: and offer
the offering of
the people, and make an
atonement for
them; as
the LORD commanded.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach
the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering to make
atonement for
yourself and for
the people. And sacrifice
the people’s offering to make
atonement for
them, as
the LORD has commanded.”
Aaron
therefore went unto
the altar, and
slew the calf of
the sin offering, which was for himself.
So Aaron approached
the altar and slaughtered
the calf as a sin offering for himself.
And
the sons of Aaron brought
the blood unto him: and he
dipped his finger in
the blood, and put it upon
the horns of
the altar, and poured out
the blood at
the bottom of
the altar:
The sons of Aaron brought
the blood to him, and he
dipped his finger in
the blood and applied it to
the horns of
the altar. And he poured out
the rest of
the blood at
the base of
the altar.
But
the fat, and
the kidneys, and
the caul above
the liver of
the sin offering, he burnt upon
the altar; as
the LORD commanded Moses.
On
the altar he burned
the fat,
the kidneys, and
the lobe of
the liver from
the sin offering, as
the LORD had commanded Moses.
And the flesh and the hide he burnt with fire without the camp.
But he burned up the flesh and the hide outside the camp.
And he
slew the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons presented unto him
the blood, which he
sprinkled round about upon
the altar.
Then Aaron slaughtered
the burnt offering. His sons brought him
the blood, and he
sprinkled it on all sides of
the altar.
And they presented the burnt offering unto him, with the pieces thereof, and the head: and he burnt them upon the altar.
They brought him the burnt offering piece by piece, including the head, and he burned them on the altar.
And he did wash the inwards and the legs, and burnt them upon the burnt offering on the altar.
He washed
the entrails and
the legs and burned
them atop the burnt offering on
the altar.
And he brought
the people’s offering, and took
the goat, which was
the sin offering for
the people, and
slew it, and offered it for sin, as
the first.
Aaron then presented the people’s offering. He took the male goat for the people’s sin offering, slaughtered it, and offered it for sin like the first one.
And he brought the burnt offering, and offered it according to the manner.
He presented
the burnt offering and offered it according to
the ordinance.
And he brought the meat offering, and took an handful thereof, and burnt it upon the altar, beside the burnt sacrifice of the morning.
Next he presented the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning’s burnt offering.
He
slew also
the bullock and
the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for
the people: and Aaron’s sons presented unto him
the blood, which he
sprinkled upon
the altar round about,
Then he slaughtered
the ox and
the ram as
the people’s peace offering. His sons brought him
the blood, and he
sprinkled it on all sides of
the altar.
And
the fat of
the bullock and of
the ram,
the rump, and that which covereth
the inwards, and
the kidneys, and
the caul above
the liver:
They also brought
the fat portions from
the ox and
the ram—
the fat tail,
the fat covering
the entrails,
the kidneys, and
the lobe of
the liver—
And they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burnt the fat upon the altar:
and placed these on the breasts. Aaron burned the fat portions on the altar,
And the breasts and the right shoulder Aaron waved for a wave offering before the LORD; as Moses commanded.
but he waved
the breasts and
the right
thigh as a wave offering before
the LORD, as Moses had commanded.
And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings.
Aaron lifted up his hands toward
the people and blessed
them. And having made
the sin offering,
the burnt offering, and
the peace offering, he
stepped down.
And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.
Moses and Aaron then entered the Tent of Meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.
And
there came a fire out from before
the LORD, and consumed upon
the altar
the burnt offering and
the fat: which when all
the people saw,
they shouted, and fell on
their faces.
Fire came out from
the presence of
the LORD and consumed
the burnt offering and
the fat portions on
the altar. And when all
the people saw it,
they shouted for joy and fell facedown.
And
Nadab and
Abihu,
the sons of Aaron, took either of
them his
censer, and put fire
therein, and put incense
thereon, and offered strange fire before
the LORD, which he commanded
them not.
Now Aaron’s sons
Nadab and
Abihu took
their censers, put fire in
them and added incense, and offered unauthorized fire before
the LORD, contrary to His command.
And
there went out fire from
the LORD, and
devoured them, and
they died before
the LORD.
So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died in the presence of the LORD.
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that
the LORD spake, saying, I will be
sanctified in
them that come
nigh me, and before all
the people I will be
glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what
the LORD meant when He said: ‘To those who come near Me I will show My
holiness, and in
the sight of all
the people I will
reveal My glory.’” But Aaron remained silent.
And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.
Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel, and said to them, “Come here; carry the bodies of your cousins outside the camp, away from the front of the sanctuary.”
So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.
So they came forward and carried them, still in their tunics, outside the camp, as Moses had directed.
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither
rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all
the people: but let your brethren,
the whole house of Israel,
bewail the burning which
the LORD hath
kindled.
Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Do not let your hair become
disheveled and do not
tear your garments, or else you will die, and
the LORD will be
angry with
the whole congregation. But your brothers,
the whole house of Israel, may
mourn on account of
the fire that
the LORD has
ignited.
And ye shall not go out from
the door of
the tabernacle of
the congregation, lest ye die: for
the anointing oil of
the LORD is upon you. And
they did according to
the word of Moses.
You shall not go outside
the entrance to
the Tent of Meeting, or you will die, for
the LORD’s
anointing oil is on you.” So
they did as Moses
instructed.
And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,
Then the LORD said to Aaron,
Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:
“You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink when you enter the Tent of Meeting, or else you will die; this is a permanent statute for the generations to come.
And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;
You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the clean and the unclean,
And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
so that you may teach the Israelites all the statutes that the LORD has given them through Moses.”
And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take
the meat offering that remaineth of
the offerings of
the LORD made by fire, and eat it without
leaven beside
the altar: for it is most holy:
And Moses said to Aaron and his remaining sons,
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Take
the grain offering that remains from
the offerings made by fire to
the LORD and eat it without
leaven beside
the altar, because it is most holy.
And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons’ due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.
You shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your share and your sons’ share of the offerings made by fire to the LORD; for this is what I have been commanded.
And
the wave breast and
heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with
thee: for
they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of
the sacrifices of peace offerings of
the children of Israel.
And you and your sons and daughters may eat
the breast of
the wave offering and
the thigh of
the contribution in a
ceremonially clean place, because
these portions have been assigned to you and your children from
the peace offerings of
the sons of Israel.
The heave shoulder and
the wave breast shall
they bring with
the offerings made by fire of
the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before
the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with
thee, by a statute for ever; as
the LORD hath commanded.
They are to bring
the thigh of
the contribution and
the breast of
the wave offering, together with
the fat portions of
the offerings made by fire, to wave as a wave offering before
the LORD. It will belong permanently to you and your children, as
the LORD has commanded.”
And Moses
diligently sought
the goat of
the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was
angry with
Eleazar and
Ithamar,
the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,
Later, Moses searched carefully for
the goat of
the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned up. He was
angry with
Eleazar and
Ithamar, Aaron’s remaining sons, and asked,
Wherefore have ye not eaten
the sin offering in
the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear
the iniquity of
the congregation, to make
atonement for
them before
the LORD?
“Why didn’t you eat
the sin offering in
the holy place? For it is most holy; it was given to you to take away
the guilt of
the congregation by making
atonement for
them before
the LORD.
Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
Since its blood was not brought inside the holy place, you should have eaten it in the sanctuary area, as I commanded.”
And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have
they offered
their sin offering and
their burnt offering before
the LORD; and such things have
befallen me: and if I had eaten
the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in
the sight of
the LORD?
But Aaron replied to Moses, “Behold, this very day
they presented
their sin offering and
their burnt offering before
the LORD. Since
these things have happened to me, if I had eaten
the sin offering
today, would it have been acceptable in
the sight of
the LORD?”
And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
The LORD spoke again to Moses and Aaron, telling them,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
“Say to the Israelites, ‘Of all the beasts of the earth, these ones you may eat:
Whatsoever parteth
the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth
the cud, among
the beasts, that shall ye eat.
You may eat any animal that has a split
hoof completely divided and that chews
the cud.
Nevertheless
these shall ye not eat of
them that
chew the cud, or of
them that divide
the hoof: as
the camel, because he cheweth
the cud, but divideth not
the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
But of those that only
chew the cud or only have a divided
hoof, you are not to eat
the following:
The camel, though it chews
the cud, does not have a divided
hoof; it is unclean for you.
And
the coney, because he cheweth
the cud, but divideth not
the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
The rock
badger, though it chews
the cud, does not have a divided
hoof; it is unclean for you.
