The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
This is the burden against the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds
sweeping through the Negev, an
invader comes from the desert, from a land of terror.
Pass
through thy land as a river, O daughter of
Tarshish: there is no more strength.
Take an
harp, go about the city, thou
harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet
melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
“Take up your
harp,
stroll through the city, O forgotten
harlot. Make sweet
melody, sing many a song, so you will be remembered.”
Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go
through them, I would burn them together.
I am not
angry. If only thorns and briers
confronted Me, I would march and
trample them, I would burn them to the ground.
But they also have
erred through wine, and
through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have
erred through strong drink, they are
swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way
through strong drink; they
err in vision, they
stumble in judgment.
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with
hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass
through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under
falsehood have we
hid ourselves:
For you said, “We have made a covenant with death; we have fashioned an agreement with
Sheol. When the
overwhelming scourge passes
through it will not touch us, because we have made lies our refuge and
falsehood our hiding place.”
And your covenant with death shall be
disannulled, and your agreement with
hell shall not stand; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass
through, then ye shall be
trodden down by it.
Your covenant with death will be dissolved, and your agreement with
Sheol will not stand. When the
overwhelming scourge passes
through, you will be
trampled by it.
From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a
vexation only to understand the report.
As often as it passes
through, it will carry you away; it will
sweep through morning after morning, by day and by night.” The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.
The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and
anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the
viper and
fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young
asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.
This is the burden against the beasts of the Negev:
Through a land of
hardship and distress, of
lioness and lion, of
viper and flying serpent, they carry their wealth on the backs of
donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people of no profit to them.
For
through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which
smote with a rod.
For Assyria will be
shattered at the voice of the LORD; He will strike them with His
scepter.
It shall not be
quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass
through it for ever and ever.
It will not be
quenched—day or night. Its smoke will
ascend forever. From generation to generation it will lie
desolate; no one will ever again pass
through it.
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my
chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of
Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice
fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his
Carmel.
Through your servants you have
taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many
chariots I have ascended to the heights of the mountains, to the remote peaks of
Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its
cypresses. I have reached its
farthest heights, the densest of its forests.
I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
I said, “In the prime of my life I must go
through the gates of
Sheol and be deprived of the remainder of my years.”
When thou passest
through the waters, I will be with thee; and
through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest
through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame
kindle upon thee.
When you pass
through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go
through the rivers, they will not
overwhelm you. When you walk
through the fire, you will not be
scorched; the flames will not set you
ablaze.
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path
through the
surging waters,
I will go before thee, and make the
crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in
sunder the bars of iron:
“I will go before you and level the mountains; I will break down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.
Take the millstones, and
grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the
thigh, pass over the rivers.
Take millstones and
grind flour; remove your
veil; strip off your
skirt, bare your
thigh, and
wade through the streams.
And they
thirsted not when he led them
through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he
clave the rock also, and the waters
gushed out.
They did not
thirst when He led them
through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water
gushed out.
For the
moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
For the
moth will
devour them like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool. But My righteousness will last
forever, My salvation
through all generations.”
Awake,
awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD;
awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut
Rahab, and wounded the
dragon?
Awake,
awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD.
Wake up as in days past, as in generations of old. Was it not You who cut
Rahab to pieces, who pierced
through the
dragon?
Whereas thou hast been
forsaken and
hated, so that no man went
through thee, I will make thee an eternal
excellency, a joy of many generations.
Go
through, go
through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the
highways; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
Go out, go out
through the gates; prepare the way for the people! Build it up, build up the
highway; clear away the stones; raise a
banner for the nations!
Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the
shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
Then His people remembered the days of old, the days of Moses. Where is He who brought them
through the sea with the
shepherds of His flock? Where is the One who set His Holy Spirit among them,
That led them
through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not
stumble?
who led them
through the depths like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not
stumble?
and
through the days of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the
eleventh year of
Zedekiah son of
Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us
through the wilderness,
through a land of deserts and of pits,
through a land of
drought, and of the shadow of death,
through a land that no man passed
through, and where no man dwelt?
They did not ask, ‘Where is the LORD who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us
through the wilderness,
through a land of deserts and pits, a land of
drought and darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?’
And it came to pass
through the lightness of her
whoredom, that she
defiled the land, and committed
adultery with stones and with stocks.
Declare ye in Judah, and
publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the
trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say,
Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
Run ye to and
fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will
pardon it.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person,
anyone who acts justly,
anyone who seeks the truth, then I will
forgive the city.
Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD’S.
Go up
through her vineyards and
ravage them, but do not finish them off. Strip off her branches, for they do not belong to the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall
throughly glean the
remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “
Glean the
remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand once more like a
grape gatherer over the branches.”
Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and
proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.
“Stand in the gate of the house of the LORD and
proclaim this message: Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who enter
through these gates to worship the LORD.
For if ye
throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye
throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
For if you really correct your ways and deeds, if you act justly toward one another,
You dwell in the midst of
deception; in their
deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the LORD.
For the mountains will I take up a
weeping and
wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass
through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
I will take up a
weeping and
wailing for the mountains, a
dirge over the wilderness pasture, for they have been
scorched so no one passes
through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. Both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled; they have gone away.
Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
Who is the man wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of the LORD spoken, that he may explain it? Why is the land destroyed and
scorched like a desert, so no one can pass
through it?
For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.
For death has
climbed in
through our windows; it has entered our fortresses to cut off the children from the streets, the young men from the town squares.
The spoilers are come upon all high places
through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall
devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the sword of the LORD devours from one end of the earth to the other. No flesh has peace.
O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the
spoil, and thy high places for sin,
throughout all thy borders.
O My mountain in the
countryside, I will give over your wealth and all your treasures as
plunder, because of the sin of your high places, within all your borders.
Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem;
This is what the LORD said to me: “Go and stand at the gate of the people, through which the kings of Judah go in and out; and stand at all the other gates of Jerusalem.
And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:
Say to them, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, all people of Judah and Jerusalem who enter through these gates.
Thus saith the LORD; Take
heed to
yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
This is what the LORD says: Take
heed for
yourselves; do not carry a load or bring it
through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.
And it shall come to pass, if ye
diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden
through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but
hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load
through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, and keep the Sabbath day holy, and do no work on it,
Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in
chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.
then kings and princes will enter
through the gates of this city. They will sit on the throne of David, riding in
chariots and on horses with their officials, along with the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited
forever.
For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in
chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
For if you will indeed carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David’s throne will enter
through the gates of this palace riding on
chariots and horses—they and their officials and their people.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with
wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them
wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has spread
throughout the land.”
Which think to cause my people to
forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for
Baal.
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people
forget My name, just as their fathers
forgot My name
through the worship of
Baal.
And send them to the king of
Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the
Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto
Zedekiah king of Judah;
Send word to the kings of
Edom, Moab,
Ammon, Tyre, and
Sidon through the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to
Zedekiah king of Judah.
Because they have not
hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.
I will do this because they have not
listened to My words, declares the LORD, which I sent to them again and again
through My servants the prophets. And neither have you exiles
listened, declares the LORD.”
And they built the high places of
Baal, which are in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass
through the fire unto
Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this
abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
They have built the high places of
Baal in the Valley of
Hinnom to make their sons and daughters pass
through the fire to
Molech—something I never commanded them, nor had it ever entered My mind, that they should commit such an
abomination and cause Judah to sin.
Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto
Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So
Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
Then all the officials sent word to
Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, saying, “Bring the
scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come here.” So
Baruch son of Neriah took the
scroll and went to them.
But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did
hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
But he and his officers and the people of the land refused to obey the words that the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
And it came to pass, that when
Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
When
Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden,
through the gate between the two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.
Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard, saying,
Now
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given orders about Jeremiah
through Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, saying,
Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will
pluck up, even this whole land.
Thus Jeremiah was to say to
Baruch: “This is what the LORD says:
Throughout the land I will
demolish what I have built and
uproot what I have planted.
The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
This is the word that the LORD spoke through Jeremiah the prophet concerning Babylon and the land of the Chaldeans:
Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly
desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be
astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
Because of the wrath of the LORD, she will not be inhabited; she will become completely
desolate. All who pass
through Babylon will be
horrified and will hiss at all her wounds.
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall
throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of Hosts is His name. He will
fervently plead their case so that He may bring rest to the earth, but
turmoil to those who live in Babylon.
Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.
And they will fall slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and pierced through in her streets.
Her cities are a
desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither
doth any son of man pass thereby.
Her cities have become a
desolation, a dry and
arid land, a land where no one lives, where no son of man passes
through.
Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her
graven images: and
through all her land the wounded shall
groan.
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will
punish her idols, and
throughout her land the wounded will
groan.
For
through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that
Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
For because of the anger of the LORD, all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And
Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.
Thou hast covered
thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass
through.
You have covered
Yourself with a cloud that no prayer can pass
through.
They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away,
stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.
Those slain by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger, who waste away, pierced with pain because the fields lack produce.
Rejoice and be
glad, O daughter of
Edom, that dwellest in the land of
Uz; the cup also shall pass
through unto thee: thou shalt be
drunken, and shalt make
thyself naked.
So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall
bereave thee; and
pestilence and blood shall pass
through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it.
I will send famine and wild beasts against you, and they will leave you childless. Plague and
bloodshed will
sweep through you, and I will bring a sword against you. I, the LORD, have spoken.”
Yet will I leave a
remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered
through the countries.
Yet I will leave a
remnant, for some of you will escape the sword when you are scattered among the nations and
throughout the lands.
Then said he unto me, Son of man,
dig now in the wall: and when I had
digged in the wall, behold a door.
“Son of man,” He told me, “
dig through the wall.” So I
dug through the wall and discovered a
doorway.
And the LORD said unto him, Go
through the midst of the city,
through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that
sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
“Go
throughout the city of Jerusalem,” said the LORD, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men
sighing and
groaning over all the abominations committed there.”
And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him
through the city, and
smite: let not your eye
spare, neither have ye
pity:
And as I
listened, He said to the others, “Follow him
through the city and start killing; do not show
pity or
spare anyone!
And he said unto them,
Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and
slew in the city.
Then He told them, “
Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go forth!” So they went out and began killing
throughout the city.
Dig thou
through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby.
As they watch,
dig through the wall and carry your belongings out
through it.
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for captivity, and in the even I
digged through the wall with mine hand; I brought it forth in the
twilight, and I bare it upon my shoulder in their sight.
So I did as I was commanded. I brought out my bags for exile by day, and in the evening I
dug through the wall by hand. I took my belongings out at
dusk, carrying them on my shoulder as they watched.
And the prince that is among them shall bear upon his shoulder in the
twilight, and shall go forth: they shall
dig through the wall to carry out thereby: he shall cover his face, that he see not the ground with his eyes.
And at
dusk the prince among them will lift his bags to his shoulder and go out. They will
dig through the wall to bring him out. He will cover his face so he cannot see the land.
And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall
scatter them among the nations, and
disperse them in the countries.
And they will know that I am the LORD, when I
disperse them among the nations and
scatter them
throughout the countries.
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all
estranged from me
through their idols.
so that I may take hold of the hearts of the people of Israel. For because of their idols, they are all
estranged from Me.’
If I cause
noisome beasts to pass
through the land, and they
spoil it, so that it be
desolate, that no man may pass
through because of the beasts:
Or if I send wild beasts
through the land to leave it childless and
desolate, with no man passing
through it for fear of the beasts,
Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:
Or if I bring a sword against that land and say, ‘Let a sword pass through it,’ so that I cut off from it both man and beast,
Or if I send a
pestilence into that land, and pour out my
fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:
Or if I send a plague into that land and pour out My wrath upon it
through bloodshed, cutting off from it both man and beast,
Then washed I thee with water;
yea, I
throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I
anointed thee with oil.
Then I bathed you with water,
rinsed off your blood, and
anointed you with oil.
And thy
renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect
through my
comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect in the
splendor I bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.
That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?
You slaughtered My children and delivered them up through the fire to idols.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy
filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered
through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou
didst give unto them;
This is what the Lord GOD says: Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your
promiscuity with your lovers and with all your
detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,
They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
They will bring a
mob against you, who will stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.
I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would
scatter them among the heathen, and
disperse them
through the countries;
However, with an
uplifted hand I
swore to them in the wilderness that I would
scatter them among the nations and
disperse them
throughout the lands.
And I
polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass
through the fire all that openeth the
womb, that I might make them
desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.
And I pronounced them unclean
through their gifts—the sacrifice of every
firstborn in the fire—so that I might
devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the LORD.
For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass
through the fire, ye
pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
When you offer your gifts, sacrificing your sons in the fire, you continue to
defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. So should I be consulted by you, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will not be consulted by you!
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be
sanctified in you before the heathen.
When I bring you from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered, I will accept you as a pleasing
aroma. And I will show My
holiness through you in the sight of the nations.
I will
disperse you among the nations and
scatter you
throughout the lands; I will
purge your uncleanness.
That they have committed
adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed
adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them
through the fire, to
devour them.
For they have committed
adultery, and blood is on their hands. They have committed
adultery with their idols. They have even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to Me, in the fire as food for their idols.
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be
glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be
sanctified in her.
And you are to declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against you, O
Sidon, and I will be
glorified within you. They will know that I am the LORD when I
execute judgments against her and
demonstrate My
holiness through her.
No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.
No foot of man or beast will pass through, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
And I will make the land of Egypt
desolate in the midst of the countries that are
desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be
desolate forty years: and I will
scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will
disperse them
through the countries.
I will make the land of Egypt a
desolation among
desolate lands, and her cities will lie
desolate for forty years among the ruined cities. And I will
disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them
throughout the countries.
And I will
scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will
disperse them
through the countries.
I will
disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them
throughout the lands.
And I will
scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and
disperse them among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them
throughout the lands. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
For I will lay the land most
desolate, and the
pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be
desolate, that none shall pass
through.
I will make the land a
desolate waste, and the pride of her strength will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will become
desolate, so that no one will pass
through.
My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock went
astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were
dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
I
dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered
throughout the lands. I judged them according to their ways and deeds.
And the
desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay
desolate in the sight of all that passed by.

prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

through My servants, the prophets of Israel, who in those times
prophesied for years that I would bring you against them?
