Samson, “You have
mocked me and
lied to me all along! Tell me how you can be
tied up.” He told her, “If you
weave the seven braids of my head into the web of a
loom and
tighten it with a pin, I will become as
weak as any other man.”
That he told her all his heart, and said unto her. There hath not come a

weak, and be like any other man.

weaker and
weaker.
And I am this day
weak, though
anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the
doer of evil according to his wickedness.

weak this day, though
anointed as king, and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too fierce for me. May the LORD repay the
evildoer according to his evil!”
And I will come upon him while he is
weary and
weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall

smite the king only:

weak and
weary; I will throw him into a
panic, and all the people with him will
flee; I will strike down only the king

weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
Then the people of the land set out to discourage the people of Judah and make them afraid to build.
For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be
weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God,
strengthen my hands.
For they were all trying to
frighten us, saying, “Their hands will be
weakened in the work, and it will never be finished.” But now, my God,
strengthen my hands.
Behold, thou hast
instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the
weak hands.
Surely you have
instructed many, and have strengthened their feeble hands.

He pours out contempt on nobles and disarms the mighty.

weak: O LORD,
heal me; for my bones are
vexed.

afflicted and
needy.

Rescue the
weak and
needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.

weak from fasting, and my body grows

They will all
respond to you, saying, “You too have become
weak, as we are; you have become like us!”
How art thou fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which
didst weaken the nations!
How you have fallen from heaven, O day star, son of the
dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of nations.
He giveth power to the
faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

Thou art
wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou
wast not
grieved.
You are
wearied by your many journeys, but you did not say, “There is no hope!” You found
renewal of your strength; therefore you did not grow
weak.
For I will not
contend for ever, neither will I be always
wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
For I will not
accuse you
forever, nor will I always be
angry; for then the spirit of man would grow
weak before Me, with the breath of those I have made.
Therefore the princes said unto the king, We
beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he
weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the
welfare of this people, but the
hurt.
Then the officials said to the king, “This man ought to die, for he is discouraging the warriors who remain in this city, as well as all the people, by speaking such words to them; this man is not seeking the well-being of these people, but their ruin.”

limp, and every
knee will turn to water.
How
weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an
imperious whorish woman;
How
weak-willed is your heart, declares the Lord GOD, while you do all these things, the acts of a shameless
prostitute!
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be
weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye
healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.
You have not strengthened the
weak,
healed the sick, bound up the injured, brought back the strays, or searched for the lost. Instead, you have ruled them with violence and cruelty.
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will
strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.
I will seek the lost, bring back the strays, bind up the broken, and
strengthen the
weak; but the
sleek and strong I will destroy. I will
shepherd them with justice.’
Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad;
Since you
shove with
flank and shoulder,
butting all the
weak ones with your horns until you have scattered them abroad,
Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Beat your plowshares into swords and your
pruning hooks into spears. Let the
weak say, ‘I am strong!’
With his own
spear You pierced his head, when his warriors stormed out to
scatter us,
gloating as though ready to secretly
devour the
weak.
In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.
On that day the LORD will defend the people of Jerusalem, so that the weakest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD going before them.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is
weak.
“Watch and pray so that you will not enter into
temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is
weak.”
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into
temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is
weak.
Watch and pray so that you will not enter into
temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is
weak.”
The
manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking away my position? I am too
weak to
dig and too
ashamed to
beg.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
And being not
weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of
Sarah’s
womb:
I speak after the manner of men because of the
infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto
holiness.
I am speaking in human terms because of the
weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to
holiness.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
For what the law was powerless to do in that it was
weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on his opinions.
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
For one person has faith to eat all things, while another, who is weak, eats only vegetables.
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is
offended, or is made
weak.
It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything to cause your brother to
stumble.
We then that are strong ought to bear the
infirmities of the
weak, and not to please ourselves.
We who are strong ought to bear with the shortcomings of the weak and not to please ourselves.
Because the
foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the
weakness of God is stronger than men.
For the
foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the
weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
But God hath chosen the
foolish things of the world to
confound the wise; and God hath chosen the
weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty;
But God chose the
foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the
weak things of the world to shame the strong.
And I was with you in
weakness, and in fear, and in much
trembling.
I came to you in
weakness and fear, and with much
trembling.
We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are
weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are
despised.
We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.
Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the
idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an
idol; and their conscience being
weak is
defiled.
But not
everyone has this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that they eat such food as if it were sacrificed to an
idol. And since their conscience is
weak, it is
defiled.
But take
heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are
weak.
Be careful, however, that your freedom does not become a
stumbling block to the
weak.
For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the
idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is
weak be
emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
For if someone with a
weak conscience sees you who are well informed eating in an
idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
By
sinning against your brothers in this way and wounding their
weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
To the
weak I became
weak, to
win the
weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
That is why many among you are
weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen
asleep.
Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
For his letters, say they, are
weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is
weak, and his speech contemptible.
For some say, “His letters are
weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is
unimpressive, and his speaking is of no account.”
I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been
weak.
Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak
foolishly,) I am bold also.
Who is
weak, and I am not
weak? who is
offended, and I burn not?
Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not burn with grief?
If I must
boast, I will
boast of the things that show my
weakness.
Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine
infirmities.
I will
boast about such a man, but I will not
boast about myself, except in my
weaknesses.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in
weakness. Most
gladly therefore will I rather glory in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in
weakness.” Therefore I will
boast all the more
gladly in my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
Therefore I take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am
weak, then am I strong.
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you.
For though he was
crucified through
weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are
weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
For He was indeed
crucified in
weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. And though we are
weak in Him, yet by God’s power we will live with Him to serve you.
For we are
glad, when we are
weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
In fact, we
rejoice when we are
weak but you are strong, and our prayer is for your perfection.
But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the
weak and
beggarly elements,
whereunto ye desire again to be in
bondage?
But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those
weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be
enslaved by them all over again?
Now we
exhort you, brethren,
warn them that are
unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the
weak, be patient toward all men.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points
tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to
sympathize with our
weaknesses, but we have one who was
tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.
Who can have
compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with
infirmity.
He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and misguided, since he himself is
beset by
weakness.
For there is
verily a
disannulling of the commandment going before for the
weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
So the former commandment is set aside because it was weak and useless
For the law maketh men high priests which have
infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for
evermore.
For the law appoints as high priests men who are
weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect
forever.
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of
weakness were made strong, waxed
valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
quenched the
raging fire, and escaped the edge of the sword; who gained strength from
weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight.
Wherefore lift up the hands which
hang down, and the feeble knees;
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow heirs of the
gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
Then said the king unto his servants, Carry me away out of the battle; for I am very weak. And immediately his servants took him away out of the battle.
Heal the broken and the
weak,
laugh not a
lame man to
scorn, defend the
maimed, and let the blind man come into the sight of my clearness.
He answered me, and said, This present life is not the end where much glory
doth abide; therefore have they prayed for the
weak.
The root of evil is sealed up from you,
weakness and the
moth is
hid from you, and corruption is fled into
hell to be forgotten:
Our
psaltery is laid on the ground, our song is put to silence, our
rejoicing is at an end, the light of our
candlestick is put out, the ark of our covenant is
spoiled, our holy things are
defiled, and the name that is called upon us is almost
profaned: our children are put to shame, our priests are burnt, our Levites are gone into captivity, our virgins are
defiled, and our wives
ravished; our righteous men carried away, our little ones destroyed, our young men are brought in
bondage, and our strong men are become
weak;
Lo, yet am I
weary in my mind, and very
weak in my spirit; and little strength is there in me, for the great fear
wherewith I was
afflicted this night.
Let go from thee
mortal thoughts, cast away the burdens of man, put off now the
weak nature,
For look how much the world shall be weaker through age, so much the more shall evils increase upon them that dwell therein.
Thou shalt be
weakened as a poor woman with stripes, and as one
chastised with wounds, so that the mighty and lovers shall not be able to receive thee.
For thy power standeth not in multitude nor thy might in strong men: for thou art a God of the
afflicted, an helper of the
oppressed, an
upholder of the
weak, a
protector of the
forlorn, a saviour of them that are without hope.
For the mighty one did not fall by the young men, neither did the sons of the
Titans smite him, nor high giants set upon him: but
Judith the daughter of Merari
weakened him with the beauty of her countenance.
For health he calleth upon that which is
weak: for life prayeth to that which is dead; for aid
humbly beseecheth that which hath least means to help: and for a good journey he asketh of that which cannot set a foot forward:
Nevertheless thou wouldest not that the works of thy wisdom should be idle, and therefore do men commit their lives to a small piece of wood, and passing the rough sea in a weak vessel are saved.
