Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of
his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the
vineyard; the
spoil of the poor is in your houses.
The LORD brings this charge against the elders and leaders of
His people: “You have
devoured the
vineyard; the
plunder of the poor is in your houses.
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching
his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a
vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
I will sing for my beloved a song of
his vineyard: My beloved had a
vineyard on a very fertile hill.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah
his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of
His delight. He looked for justice, but saw
bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard a cry of distress.
And the
harp, and the
viol, the
tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of
his hands.
At their feasts are the
lyre and
harp, tambourines and flutes and wine. They disregard the actions of the LORD and fail to see the work of
His hands.
But the LORD of hosts shall be
exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be
sanctified in righteousness.
But the LORD of Hosts will be
exalted by
His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.
That say, Let him make speed, and
hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw
nigh and come, that we may know it!
to those who say, “Let Him
hurry and
hasten His work so that we may see it! Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come so that we may know it!”
Therefore is the anger of the LORD
kindled against
his people, and he hath stretched forth
his hand against them, and hath
smitten them: and the hills did
tremble, and their carcases were
torn in the midst of the streets. For all this
his anger is not turned away, but
his hand is stretched out still.
Therefore the anger of the LORD burns against
His people;
His hand is raised against them to strike them down. The mountains
quake, and the corpses lay like refuse in the streets.
Despite all this,
His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised.
And he will lift up an
ensign to the nations from far, and will
hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
He lifts a
banner for the distant nations and whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Behold—how speedily and swiftly they come!
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and
exalted; and the train of
His robe filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with
twain he covered
his face, and with
twain he covered
his feet, and with
twain he did fly.
Above Him stood
seraphim, each having six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
And one
cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of
his glory.
And they were calling out to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.”
Then
flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in
his hand, which he had taken with the
tongs from off the altar:
And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is
confederate with Ephraim. And
his heart was moved, and the heart of
his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
When it was reported to the house of David that
Aram was in league with Ephraim, the hearts of
Ahaz and
his people
trembled like trees in the forest
shaken by the wind.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call
his name
Immanuel.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call Him
Immanuel.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall
hiss for the fly that is in the
uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the
bee that is in the land of Assyria.
On that day the LORD will
whistle to the
flies at the
farthest streams of the Nile and to the bees in the land of Assyria.
And I went unto the
prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call
his name Maher-shalal-
hash-baz.
And I had relations with the
prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. The LORD said to me, “Name him Maher-shalal-
hash-baz.
Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
the Lord will surely bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria and all
his pomp. It will overflow its channels and overrun its banks.
And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of
his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O
Immanuel.
It will pour into Judah,
swirling and
sweeping over it, reaching up to the neck; its spreading streams will cover your entire land, O
Immanuel!
And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in Him.
For thou hast broken the yoke of
his burden, and the staff of
his shoulder, the rod of
his oppressor, as in the day of
Midian.
For as in the day of
Midian You have
shattered the yoke of their burden, the bar across their shoulders, and the rod of their
oppressor.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon
his shoulder: and
his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The
everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon
His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Of the increase of
His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over
his kingdom, to establish and
sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
Therefore the LORD shall set up the
adversaries of Rezin against him, and join
his enemies together;
The LORD has raised up the foes of Rezin against him and joined his enemies together.
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall
devour Israel with open mouth. For all this
his anger is not turned away, but
his hand is stretched out still.
Aram from the east and Philistia from the west have
devoured Israel with open mouths.
Despite all this,
His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised.
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an
hypocrite and an
evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this
his anger is not turned away, but
his hand is stretched out still.
Therefore the Lord takes no pleasure in their young men; He has no
compassion on their fatherless and widows. For every one of them is godless and wicked, and every mouth speaks folly.
Despite all this,
His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised.
Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land
darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall
spare his brother.
By the wrath of the LORD of Hosts the land is
scorched, and the people are fuel for the fire. No man even spares
his brother.
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of
his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of
his own offspring.
Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim,
Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this
his anger is not turned away, but
his hand is stretched out still.
Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim
Manasseh; together they turn against Judah.
Despite all this,
His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised.
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Nothing will remain but to
crouch among the
captives or fall among the slain.
Despite all this,
His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither
doth his heart think so; but it is in
his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
But this is not his intention; this is not his plan. For it is in his heart to destroy and cut off many nations.
Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed
his whole work upon mount
Zion and on Jerusalem, I will
punish the fruit of the
stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of
his high looks.
So when the Lord has completed all
His work against Mount
Zion and Jerusalem, He will say, “I will
punish the king of Assyria for the fruit of
his arrogant heart and the proud look in
his eyes.
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among
his fat ones
leanness; and under
his glory he shall
kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
Therefore the Lord GOD of Hosts will send a wasting disease among Assyria’s
stout warriors, and under
his pomp will be
kindled a fire like a burning flame.
And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and
his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and
devour his thorns and
his briers in one day;
And the Light of Israel will become a fire, and its Holy One a flame. In a single day it will burn and
devour Assyria’s thorns and thistles.
And shall
consume the glory of
his forest, and of
his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.
The
splendor of its forests and orchards, both soul and body, it will completely destroy, as a sickness consumes a man.
And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.
The remaining trees of its forests will be so few that a child could count them.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in
Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall
smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up
his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: “O My people who dwell in
Zion, do not fear Assyria, who strikes you with a rod and lifts
his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
And the LORD of hosts shall
stir up a
scourge for him according to the slaughter of
Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as
his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
And the LORD of Hosts will
brandish a
whip against them, as when He struck
Midian at the rock of Oreb. He will raise
His staff over the sea, as He did in Egypt.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that
his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and
his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing.
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at
Michmash he hath laid up
his carriages:
Assyria has entered Aiath and passed through Migron, storing their supplies at
Michmash.
As yet shall he remain at
Nob that day: he shall
shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of
Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of
Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of
his roots:
Then a shoot will spring up from the
stump of
Jesse, and a Branch from
his roots will bear fruit.
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
And He will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what His eyes see, and He will not decide by what His ears hear,
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the
meek of the earth: and he shall
smite the earth with the rod of
his mouth, and with the breath of
his lips shall he
slay the wicked.
but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and with
equity He will decide for the lowly of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of
His mouth and
slay the wicked with the breath of
His lips.
And righteousness shall be the
girdle of
his loins, and faithfulness the
girdle of
his reins.
Righteousness will be the belt around
His hips, and faithfulness the
sash around
His waist.
The infant will play by the
cobra’s den, and the
toddler will reach into the
viper’s nest.
And in that day there shall be a root of
Jesse, which shall stand for an
ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and
his rest shall be glorious.
On that day the Root of
Jesse will stand as a
banner for the peoples. The nations will seek Him, and
His place of rest will be glorious.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set
his hand again the second time to recover the
remnant of
his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from
Cush, and from
Elam, and from
Shinar, and from
Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
On that day the Lord will extend
His hand a second time to recover the
remnant of
His people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from
Cush, from
Elam, from
Shinar, from
Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with
his mighty wind shall he
shake his hand over the river, and shall
smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over
dryshod.
The LORD will
devote to destruction the gulf of the Sea of Egypt; with a
scorching wind He will
sweep His hand over the Euphrates. He will split it into seven streams for men to cross with dry
sandals.
And there shall be an
highway for the
remnant of
his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
There will be a
highway for the
remnant of
His people who remain from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon
his name, declare
his doings among the people, make mention that
his name is
exalted.
and on that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD;
proclaim His name! Make
His works known among the peoples; declare that
His name is
exalted.
They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of
his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
They are coming from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the LORD and the weapons of His wrath— to destroy the whole country.
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be
darkened in
his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to
shine.
For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light. The rising sun will be
darkened, and the moon will not give its light.
Therefore I will
shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of
his fierce anger.
Therefore I will make the heavens
tremble, and the earth will be
shaken from its place at the wrath of the LORD of Hosts on the day of
His burning anger.
And it shall be as the
chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to
his own people, and
flee every one into
his own land.
Like a
hunted gazelle, like a sheep without a
shepherd, each will return to
his own people, each will
flee to
his native land.
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the
shepherds make their fold there.
She will never be inhabited or settled from generation to generation; no
nomad will pitch
his tent there, no
shepherd will rest
his flock there.
That thou shalt take up this
proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the
oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
you will sing this song of contempt against the king of Babylon: How the
oppressor has ceased, and how
his fury has ended!
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
who turned the world into a desert and destroyed its cities, who refused to let the
captives return to their homes?”
All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb.
Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
Prepare a place to slaughter
his sons for the
iniquities of their forefathers. They will never rise up to possess a land or cover the earth with their cities.
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains
tread him under foot: then shall
his yoke depart from off them, and
his burden depart from off their shoulders.
I will break Assyria in My land; I will
trample him on My mountain.
His yoke will be taken off My people, and
his burden removed from their shoulders.”
For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall
disannul it? and
his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
The LORD of Hosts has purposed, and who can
thwart Him?
His hand is outstretched, so who can turn it back?
Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that
smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a
cockatrice, and
his fruit shall be a
fiery flying serpent.
Do not
rejoice, all you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken. For a
viper will spring from the root of the
snake, and a flying serpent from its egg.
Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in
his appointed times.
Wail, O gate! Cry out, O city!
Melt away, all you Philistines! For a cloud of smoke comes from the north, and there are no stragglers in its ranks.
What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded
Zion, and the poor of
his people shall trust in it.
What answer will be given to the envoys of that nation? “The LORD has founded
Zion, where
His afflicted people will find refuge.”
And
Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out;
his life shall be
grievous unto him.
Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; their voices are heard as far as Jahaz. Therefore the soldiers of Moab cry out; their souls
tremble within.
My heart shall cry out for Moab;
his fugitives shall
flee unto Zoar, an
heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with
weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.
My heart
cries out over Moab; her fugitives
flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath-shelishiyah. With
weeping they
ascend the slope of Luhith; they
lament their destruction on the road to Horonaim.
We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of
his haughtiness, and
his pride, and
his wrath: but
his lies shall not be so.
And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is
weary on the high place, that he shall come to
his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.
When Moab appears on the high place, when he wearies himself and enters his sanctuary to pray, it will do him no good.
And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of
his flesh shall wax
lean.
“In that day the
splendor of Jacob will
fade, and the fat of
his body will waste away,
And it shall be as when the
harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with
his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of
Rephaim.
as the
reaper gathers the standing grain and harvests the ears with
his arm, as one gleans heads of grain in the Valley of
Rephaim.
At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
They will not look to the altars they have fashioned with their hands or to the Asherahs and incense altars they have made with their fingers.
In that day shall
his strong cities be as a
forsaken bough, and an
uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be
desolation.
In that day their strong cities will be like
forsaken thickets and summits, abandoned to the Israelites and to utter
desolation.
The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at
his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall
melt in the midst of it.
This is the burden against Egypt: Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud; He is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt will
tremble before Him, and the hearts of the Egyptians will
melt within them.
And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
“So I will
incite Egyptian against Egyptian; brother will fight against brother,
neighbor against
neighbor, city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
The LORD hath mingled a
perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to
err in every work thereof, as a
drunken man staggereth in
his vomit.
The LORD has poured into her a spirit of confusion. Egypt has been led
astray in all she does, as a
drunkard staggers through
his own
vomit.
And I will
clothe him with thy
robe, and
strengthen him with thy
girdle, and I will commit thy government into
his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
I will
clothe him with your
robe and
tie your
sash around him. I will put your authority in
his hand, and he will be a father to the dwellers of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
And I will
fasten him as a
nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to
his father’s house.
I will drive him like a
peg into a firm place, and he will be a throne of glory for the house of
his father.
And they shall
hang upon him all the glory of
his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
So they will
hang on him all the glory of
his father’s house: the descendants and the offshoots—all the lesser vessels, from
bowls to every kind of
jar.
He stretched out
his hand over the sea, he
shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
The LORD has stretched out
His hand over the sea; He has made kingdoms
tremble. He has given a command that the strongholds of
Canaan be destroyed.
And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with
his master; as with the
maid, so with her
mistress; as with the
buyer, so with the seller; as with the
lender, so with the
borrower; as with the taker of
usury, so with the giver of
usury to him.
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun
ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount
Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before
his ancients gloriously.
The moon will be confounded and the sun will be
ashamed; for the LORD of Hosts will reign on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem, and before
His elders with great glory.
For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the
needy in
his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
For You have been a refuge for the poor, a
stronghold for the
needy in distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the
ruthless is like rain against a wall,
He will
swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will
wipe away tears from off all faces; and the
rebuke of
his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
He will
swallow up death
forever. The Lord GOD will
wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of
His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be
glad and
rejoice in
his salvation.
And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us
rejoice and be
glad in
His salvation.”
For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be
trodden down under him, even as straw is
trodden down for the
dunghill.
For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be
trampled in
his place as straw is
trodden into the dung pile.
And he shall spread forth
his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth
his hands to
swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
He will spread out
his hands within it, as a
swimmer spreads
his arms to
swim.
His pride will be brought low,
despite the skill of
his hands.
For, behold, the LORD cometh out of
his place to
punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
For behold, the LORD is coming out of
His dwelling to
punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will
reveal her
bloodshed and will no longer
conceal her slain.
In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou
wilt debate with it: he stayeth
his rough wind in the day of the east wind.
By warfare and exile You
contended with her and removed her with a fierce wind, as on the day the east wind blows.
By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be
purged; and this is all the fruit to take away
his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in
sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
Therefore Jacob’s guilt will be
atoned for, and the full fruit of the removal of
his sin will be this: When he makes all the altar stones like
crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.
Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a
fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
Woe to the
majestic crown of Ephraim’s drunkards, to the
fading flower of
his glorious
splendor, set on the summit above the fertile valley, the pride of those overcome by wine.
And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a
fading flower, and as the
hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it
seeth, while it is yet in
his hand he eateth it up.
The
fading flower of
his beautiful
splendor, set on the summit above the fertile valley, will be like a ripe fig before the summer harvest:
Whoever sees it will take it in
his hand and
swallow it.
In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a
diadem of beauty, unto the residue of
his people,
On that day the LORD of Hosts will be a crown of glory, a
diadem of
splendor to the
remnant of
His people,
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are
weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Whom is He trying to teach? To whom is He explaining
His message? To infants just
weaned from milk? To
babies removed from the breast?
For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be
wroth as in the valley of
Gibeon, that he may do
his work,
his strange work; and bring to pass
his act,
his strange act.
For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim. He will
rouse Himself as in the Valley of
Gibeon, to do
His work,
His strange work, and to perform
His task,
His disturbing task.
For his God instructs and teaches him properly.
Grain for bread must be ground, but it is not endlessly
threshed. Though the wheels of the
cart roll over it, the horses do not
crush it.
