chariots.
And when the children of
Ammon saw that they had made themselves
odious to David, Hanun and the children of
Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to
hire them
chariots and
horsemen out of
Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.
All these were the sons of Heman the king’s
seer in the words of God, to lift up the
horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these sons of Heman the king’s
seer were given him through the promises of God to
exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a
chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an
horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out
horses for all the kings of the
Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
A
chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a
horse for a hundred and fifty. Likewise, they exported them to all the kings of the
Hittites and to the kings of
Aram.
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at
Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.
Also he built Beth-
horon the upper, and Beth-
horon the
nether,
fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;
He rebuilt Upper and Lower Beth-horon as fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,
And Baalath, and all the store cities that Solomon had, and all the
chariot cities, and the cities of the
horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in
Lebanon, and throughout all the land of his dominion.
as well as Baalath, all the store cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the cities for his
chariots and
horses—whatever he desired to build in Jerusalem,
Lebanon, and throughout the land of his dominion.
But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his
chariots and
horsemen.
But Solomon did not
consign any of the Israelites to slave labor, because they were his men of war, his officers and captains, and the commanders of his
chariots and cavalry.
And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and
raiment,
harness, and spices,
horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
Year after year, each
visitor would bring his tribute: articles of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices,
horses, and mules.

horses and
chariots, and twelve thousand

horses, which he stationed in the

With twelve hundred
chariots, and
threescore thousand
horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
with 1,200
chariots, 60,000
horsemen, and countless troops who came with him out of Egypt—Libyans, Sukkites, and Cushites.
They took an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with
shouting,
trumpets, and rams’
horns.
Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many
chariots and
horsemen? yet, because thou
didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.
Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many
chariots and
horsemen? Yet because you
relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.
And
Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him
horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt
push Syria until they be consumed.
Now
Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made for himself iron
horns and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you shall
gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”
So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the
horse gate by the king’s house, they
slew her there.
So they seized
Athaliah as she reached the entrance of the
Horse Gate to the palace grounds, and there they put her to death.
But the soldiers of the army which
Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-
horon, and
smote three thousand of them, and took much
spoil.
Meanwhile the troops that
Amaziah had dismissed from battle
raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-
horon. They struck down 3,000 people and carried off a great deal of
plunder.
And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
They carried him back on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to
astonishment, and to
hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
Therefore, the wrath of the LORD has fallen upon Judah and Jerusalem, and He has made them an object of terror,
horror, and
mockery, as you can see with your own eyes.
And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which
trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to
desolation, as ye see.
Do not be like your fathers and brothers who were unfaithful to the LORD, the God of their fathers, so that He made them an object of
horror, as you can see.
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
For I was
ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and
horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
For I was
ashamed to ask the king for an
escort of soldiers and
horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is
gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who
forsake Him.”
And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my
mantle, and
plucked off the hair of my head and of my
beard, and sat down
astonied.
Then were assembled unto me every one that
trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the
transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat
astonied until the evening sacrifice.
Then
everyone who
trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat there in
horror until the evening offering.
But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the
uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
but if you return to Me and keep and practice My commandments, then even if your exiles have been banished to the
farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for My Name.’
Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and
horsemen with me.
Then I went to the governors west of the Euphrates and gave them the king’s letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.
But when
Sanballat the
Horonite and
Tobiah the
Ammonite official heard about this, they were deeply disturbed that someone had come to seek the well-being of the Israelites.
But when
Sanballat the
Horonite,
Tobiah the
Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about this, they
mocked us and
ridiculed us, saying, “What is this you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.
Above the Horse Gate, each of the priests made repairs in front of his own house.
In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the
trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
Wherever you hear the sound of the
horn,
rally to us there. Our God will fight for us!”
Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to
Sanballat the
Horonite: therefore I
chased him from me.
Even one of the sons of Jehoiada son of Eliashib the high priest had become a son-in-law to
Sanballat the
Horonite. Therefore I drove him away from me.
Let the royal
apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the
horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
have them bring a royal
robe that the king himself has worn and a
horse on which the king himself has
ridden—one with a royal crest placed on its head.
And let this
apparel and
horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may
array the man
withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on
horseback through the street of the city, and
proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
Let the
robe and the
horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes. Let them
array the man the king wants to honor and
parade him on the
horse through the city square,
proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man whom the king is delighted to honor!’”
Then the king said to
Haman, Make
haste, and take the
apparel and the
horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to
Mordecai the
Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
“
Hurry,” said the king to
Haman, “and do just as you proposed. Take the
robe and the
horse to
Mordecai the
Jew, who is sitting at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything that you have suggested.”
Then took
Haman the
apparel and the
horse, and
arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on
horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
So
Haman took the
robe and the
horse,
arrayed Mordecai, and
paraded him through the city square, crying out before him, “This is what is done for the man whom the king is delighted to honor!”
And he wrote in the king
Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on
horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young
dromedaries:
Mordecai wrote in the name of King
Xerxes and sealed it with the royal
signet ring. He sent the documents by mounted couriers riding on swift
horses bred from the royal mares.
So the posts that
rode upon mules and camels went out, being
hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at
Shushan the palace.
The couriers
rode out in
haste on their royal
horses, pressed on by the command of the king. And the edict was also issued in the citadel of
Susa.
I have
sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my
horn in the dust.
They that come after him shall be
astonied at his day, as they that went before were
affrighted.
Even when I remember I am afraid, and
trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in
horror.
He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.
What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
Yet when she proudly spreads her wings, she laughs at the horse and its rider.
Hath thou given the
horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with
thunder?
Do you give strength to the
horse or
adorn his neck with a
mane?
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and
rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the
trumpet.
Trembling with excitement, he devours the distance; he cannot stand still when the ram’s
horn sounds.
At the blast of the
horn, he snorts with
fervor. He catches the
scent of battle from
afar— the shouts of captains and the cry of war.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and
brimstone, and an
horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
On the wicked He will rain down
fiery coals and sulfur; a
scorching wind will be their portion.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my
buckler, and the
horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the
horn of my salvation, my
stronghold.
Some trust in
chariots, and some in
horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Some trust in
chariots and others in
horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
Save me from the mouth of the lion; at the horns of the wild oxen You have answered me!
Be ye not as the
horse, or as the
mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with
bit and
bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
Do not be like the
horse or
mule, which have no understanding; they must be
controlled with
bit and
bridle to make them come to you.
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for salvation; even its great strength cannot save.
He brought me up also out of an
horrible pit, out of the
miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
He lifted me up from the pit of
despair, out of the
miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.
God is gone up with a
shout, the LORD with the sound of a
trumpet.
God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD with the sound of the horn.
This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or
bullock that hath
horns and
hoofs.
And this will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with
horns and
hooves.
I said unto the fools, Deal not
foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the
horn:
I say to the proud, ‘Do not
boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your
horn.
Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
Do not lift up your horn against heaven or speak with an outstretched neck.’”
All the
horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the
horns of the righteous shall be
exalted.
“All the
horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the
horns of the righteous will be
exalted.”
At thy
rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the
chariot and
horse are cast into a dead sleep.
At Your
rebuke, O God of Jacob, both
horse and rider lie
stunned.
Blow up the
trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and at the full moon on the day of our Feast.
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our
horn shall be
exalted.
For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our
horn is
exalted.
But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his
horn be
exalted.
My faithfulness and loving devotion will be with him, and through My name his
horn will be
exalted.
But You have
exalted my
horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been
anointed.
With
trumpets and sound of
cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
With
trumpets and the blast of the ram’s
horn shout for joy before the LORD, the King.
He hath
dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his
horn shall be
exalted with honour.
He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures
forever; his
horn will be lifted high in honor.
God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
The LORD is God; He has made His light to
shine upon us. Bind the
festal sacrifice with cords to the
horns of the altar.
Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that
forsake thy law.
Rage has taken hold of me because of the wicked who
reject Your law.
There will I make the
horn of David to
bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine
anointed.
There I will make a
horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My
anointed one.
He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legpower of the man.
He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD.
He has raised up a
horn for His people, the praise of all His saints, of Israel, a people near to Him.
Hallelujah!
Praise Him with the sound of the
horn; praise Him with the
harp and
lyre.
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory is of the LORD.
A
whip for the
horse, a
bridle for the
donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!
The
horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied,
yea, four things say not, It is enough:
The
leech has two daughters: Give and Give. There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, ‘Enough!’:
I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.
I have seen slaves on
horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves.
I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of
horses in Pharaoh’s
chariots.
Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of
horses, neither is there any end of their
chariots:
Their land is full of silver and gold, with no limit to their treasures; their land is full of
horses, with no limit to their
chariots.
Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their
horses’
hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a
whirlwind:
Their arrows are sharpened, and all their bows are
strung. The
hooves of their
horses are like flint; their
chariot wheels are like a
whirlwind.
My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall
flee unto Zoar, an
heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with
weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of
Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.
My heart
cries out over Moab; her fugitives
flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath-shelishiyah. With
weeping they
ascend the slope of Luhith; they
lament their destruction on the road to
Horonaim.
All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an
ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a
trumpet, hear ye.
All you people of the world and dwellers of the earth, when a
banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it; when a ram’s
horn sounds, you will hear it.
And, behold, here cometh a
chariot of men, with a couple of
horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the
graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
Look, here come the riders,
horsemen in pairs.” And one answered, saying: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon! All the images of her gods lie
shattered on the ground!”
And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of
chariots, and the
horsemen shall set themselves in
array at the gate.
Your choicest valleys are full of
chariots, and
horsemen are posted at the gates.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great
trumpet shall be
blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
And in that day a great ram’s horn will sound, and those who were perishing in Assyria will come forth with those who were exiles in Egypt. And they will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Grain for bread must be ground, but it is not endlessly
threshed. Though the wheels of the
cart roll over it, the
horses do not
crush it.
But ye said, No; for we will
flee upon
horses; therefore shall ye
flee: and, We will
ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
“No,” you say, “we will
flee on
horses.” Therefore you will
flee! “We will
ride swift
horses,” but your pursuers will be faster.
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on
horses, and trust in
chariots, because they are many; and in
horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who
rely on
horses, who trust in their abundance of
chariots and in their multitude of
horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel; they do not seek the LORD.
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their
horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is
holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
But the Egyptians are men, not God; their
horses are flesh, not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, the helper will
stumble, and the one he helps will fall; both will perish together.
Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
Now, therefore, make a
bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you two thousand
horses—if you can put riders on them!
How then
wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for
chariots and for
horsemen?
For how can you
repel a single officer among the least of my master’s servants when you depend on Egypt for
chariots and
horsemen?
Which bringeth forth the
chariot and
horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are
quenched as
tow.
“Cry
aloud, do not hold back! Raise your voice like a ram’s
horn. Declare to My people their
transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins.
That led them through the deep, as an
horse in the wilderness, that they should not
stumble?
who led them through the depths like a
horse in the wilderness, so that they did not
stumble?
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon
horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on
horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
