And when he came to the den, he
cried with a
lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
When he reached the den, he
cried out in a voice of
anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
His body also was like the
beryl, and his face as the appearance of
lightning, and his eyes as
lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
His body was like
beryl, his face like the brilliance of
lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the
gleam of polished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
For Israel slideth back as a
backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a
lamb in a large place.
Gird yourselves, and
lament, ye priests:
howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in
sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is
withholden from the house of your God.
Put on
sackcloth and
lament, O priests;
wail, O ministers of the altar. Come,
spend the night in
sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because the grain and drink offerings are
withheld from the house of your God.
Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a
lamentation, O house of Israel.
Hear this word, O house of Israel, this
lamentation I take up against you:
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be
wailing in all the public squares and
cries of ‘
Alas!
Alas!’ in all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to
mourn, and the mourners to
wail.
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the
lambs out of the flock, and the
calves out of the midst of the
stall;
You lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and
lounge upon your couches. You
dine on
lambs from the flock and
calves from the
stall.
And I will turn your feasts into
mourning, and all your songs into
lamentation; and I will bring up
sackcloth upon all loins, and
baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the
mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and
lament with a
doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly
spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
In that day they will take up a
proverb against you and
taunt you with this bitter
lamentation: ‘We are utterly ruined! He has changed the portion of my people. How He has removed it from me! He has
allotted our fields to traitors.’”
In that day, saith the LORD, will I
assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have
afflicted;
“On that day,” declares the LORD, “I will gather the
lame; I will
assemble the outcast, even those whom I have
afflicted.
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and
punish the men that are settled on their
lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
And at that time I will search Jerusalem with
lamps and
punish the men settled in
complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
Behold, at that time I will
undo all that
afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who
afflict you. I will save the
lame and gather the scattered; and I will
appoint praise and fame for the disgraced throughout the earth.
And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a
candlestick all of gold, with a
bowl upon the top of it, and his seven
lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven
lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
“What do you see?” he asked. “I see a solid gold
lampstand,” I replied, “with a
bowl at the top and seven
lamps on it, with seven spouts to the
lamps.
Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the
candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
Then I asked the angel, “What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?”
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Ye said also, Behold, what a
weariness is it! and ye have
snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was
torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
You also say: ‘Oh, what a
nuisance!’ And you turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring offerings that are
stolen,
lame, or sick! Should I accept these from your hands?” asks the LORD.
Neither do men light a
candle, and put it under a
bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Neither do people light a
lamp and put it under a
basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to
everyone in the house.
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
The blind receive their sight, and the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the
deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
The blind receive sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have
mourned unto you, and ye have not
lamented.
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were
lame, blind,
dumb,
maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he
healed them:
Large crowds came to Him, bringing the
lame, the blind, the
crippled, the
mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet, and He
healed them.
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the
dumb to speak, the
maimed to be whole, the
lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they
glorified the God of Israel.
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot
offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life
halt or
maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into
everlasting fire.
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life
crippled or
lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire.
And the blind and the
lame came to him in the temple; and he
healed them.
The blind and the
lame came to Him at the temple, and He
healed them.
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be
likened unto ten virgins, which took their
lamps, and went forth to meet the
bridegroom.
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their
lamps and went out to meet the
bridegroom.
They that were
foolish took their
lamps, and took no oil with them:
The
foolish ones took their
lamps but did not take along any extra oil.
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
But the wise ones took oil in flasks along with their lamps.
Then all those virgins arose, and
trimmed their
lamps.
And the
foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our
lamps are gone out.
The
foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our
lamps are going out.’
And about the ninth hour Jesus
cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eli,
Eli,
lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?
About the ninth hour Jesus
cried out in a loud voice, “
Eli,
Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?”
And he said unto them, Is a
candle brought to be put under a
bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a
candlestick?
Jesus also said to them, “Does
anyone bring in a
lamp to put it under a
basket or under a bed? Doesn’t he set it on a stand?
And if thy foot
offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter
halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into
hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life
lame than to have two feet and be thrown into
hell.
And the first day of
unleavened bread, when they killed the
passover, his disciples said unto him, Where
wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the
passover?
On the first day of the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, when the
Passover lamb was to be sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the
Passover?”
And at the ninth hour Jesus
cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eloi,
Eloi,
lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?
At the ninth hour, Jesus
cried out in a loud voice, “
Eloi,
Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?”
Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of
Lamech,
the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of
Shem, the son of
Noah, the son of
Lamech,
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
So He replied, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
No man, when he hath lighted a
candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a
candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
No one lights a
lamp and covers it with a
jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light.
Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as
lambs among
wolves.
Go! I am sending you out like
lambs among
wolves.
No man, when he hath lighted a
candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a
bushel, but on a
candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
No one lights a
lamp and puts it in a
cellar or under a
basket. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light.
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body is full of darkness.
If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright
shining of a
candle doth give thee light.
So if your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, you will be
radiant, as though a
lamp were
shining on you.”
Let your loins be
girded about, and your lights burning;
Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the
maimed, the
lame, the blind:
So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being
angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in
hither the poor, and the
maimed, and the
halt, and the blind.
The servant returned and reported all this to his master. Then the owner of the house became
angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and
alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the
crippled, the blind, and the
lame.’
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece,
doth not light a
candle, and
sweep the house, and seek
diligently till she find it?
Or what woman who has ten silver coins and loses one of them does not light a
lamp,
sweep her house, and search carefully until she finds it?
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also
bewailed and
lamented him.
A great number of people followed Him, including women who kept
mourning and
wailing for Him.
The next day John
seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the
Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
When he saw Jesus walking by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
On these walkways lay a great number of the sick, the blind, the
lame, and the
paralyzed.
He was a burning and a
shining light: and ye were willing for a season to
rejoice in his light.
John was a
lamp that burned and gave light, and you were willing for a season to
bask in his light.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, That ye shall
weep and
lament, but the world shall
rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Truly, truly, I tell you, you will
weep and
wail while the world rejoices. You will
grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
So when they had
dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him,
Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my
lambs.
When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “
Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus replied, “Feed My
lambs.”
And a certain man
lame from his mother’s
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask
alms of them that entered into the temple;
And a man who was
lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to
beg from those entering the temple courts.
And as the
lame man which was
healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the
porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
While the man
clung to Peter and John, all the people were
astonished and ran to them in the walkway called Solomon’s
Colonnade.
If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the
impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
If we are being examined
today about a kind service to a man who was
lame, to determine how he was
healed,
God-fearing men buried Stephen and
mourned deeply over him.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with
palsies, and that were
lame, were
healed.
With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the
paralyzed and
lame were
healed.
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a
lamb dumb before his
shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
The
eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a
lamb before the
shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
In
Lystra there sat a man
crippled in his feet, who was
lame from birth and had never walked.
And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
Now there were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered.
For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the
candlestick, and the table, and the
shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
A tabernacle was prepared. In its first room were the lampstand, the table, and the consecrated bread. This was called the Holy Place.
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is
lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be
healed.
Make straight paths for your feet, so that the
lame may not be disabled, but rather
healed.
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a
lamb without
blemish and without spot:
but with the precious blood of Christ, a
lamb without
blemish or spot.
We have also a more sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take
heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day
dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a
lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands,
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and
girt about the paps with a golden
girdle.
and among the
lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long
robe, with a golden
sash around His chest.
The
mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
This is the
mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand and of the seven golden
lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven
lampstands are the seven churches.
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and
repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy
candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.
Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen.
Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not
repent, I will come to you and remove your
lampstand from its place.
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
From the throne came
flashes of
lightning, and rumblings, and peals of
thunder. Before the throne burned seven torches of fire. These are the seven Spirits of God.
And I
beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a
Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Then I saw a
Lamb who appeared to have been slain, standing in the center of the throne,
encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The
Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
When He had taken the
scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the
Lamb. Each one had a
harp, and they were holding golden
bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the
Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power
forever and ever!”
And I saw when the
Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of
thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
Then I watched as the
Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say in a
thunderous voice, “Come!”
And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
And when the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I
beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
And when the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” Then I looked and saw a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales.
And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
And when the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
And when the
Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had
upheld.
And I
beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great
earthquake; and the sun became black as
sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
And when I saw the
Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great
earthquake, and the sun became black like
sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red,
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
After this I
beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the
Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.
And
cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the
Lamb.
And they
cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the
Lamb!”
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great
tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the
Lamb.
“Sir,” I answered, “you know.” So he replied, “These are the ones who have come out of the great
tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the
Lamb.
For the
Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes.
For the
Lamb in the center of the throne will be their
shepherd. ‘He will lead them to springs of living water,’ and ‘God will
wipe away every
tear from their eyes.’”
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
Then the third angel sounded his
trumpet, and a great star burning like a
torch fell from heaven and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
These witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
They have conquered him by the blood of the
Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to
shy away from death.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.
And I
beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a
lamb, and he spake as a
dragon.
Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. This beast had two horns like a
lamb, but spoke like a
dragon.
And I looked, and, lo, a
Lamb stood on the mount
Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
Then I looked and saw the
Lamb standing on Mount
Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name written on their foreheads.
These are they which were not
defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the
Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the
Lamb.
These are the ones who have not been
defiled with women, for they are virgins. They follow the
Lamb wherever He goes. They have been redeemed from among men as firstfruits to God and to the
Lamb.
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his
indignation; and he shall be
tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the
Lamb:
he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be
tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the
Lamb.
