And he said, The LORD came from
Sinai, and rose up from
Seir unto them; he
shined forth from mount
Paran, and he came with ten
thousands of saints: from his right hand went a
fiery law for them.
He said: “The LORD came from
Sinai and
dawned upon us from
Seir; He
shone forth from Mount
Paran and came with myriads of holy ones, with flaming fire at His right hand.
His glory is like the
firstling of his
bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall
push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten
thousands of Ephraim, and they are the
thousands of
Manasseh.
His majesty is like a
firstborn bull, and his horns are like those of a wild ox. With them he will
gore the nations, even to the ends of the earth. Such are the myriads of Ephraim, and such are the
thousands of
Manasseh.”
Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two
thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way
heretofore.
But keep a distance of about two
thousand cubits between
yourselves and the ark. Do not go near it, so that you can see the way to go, since you have never traveled this way before.”

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three
thousand men go up and
smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
On returning to Joshua, they reported, “There is no need to send all the people; two or three
thousand men are enough to go up and attack
Ai. Since the people of
Ai are so few, you need not wear out all our people there.”
So there went up thither of the people about three
thousand men: and they fled before the men of
Ai.
So about three
thousand men went up, but they fled before the men of
Ai.

valor and sent them out at night
And he took about five
thousand men, and set them to lie in
ambush between
Bethel and

And when
Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the
thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of
Reuben and the children of
Gad and the children of
Manasseh spake, it pleased them.
When
Phinehas the priest and the chiefs of the congregation—the heads of Israel’s clans who were with him—heard what the descendants of
Reuben,
Gad, and
Manasseh had to say, they were satisfied.
One man of you shall
chase a
thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
One of you can put a thousand to flight, because the LORD your God fights for you, just as He promised.
And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the
Canaanites and the

thousand men at Bezek.
And they
slew of Moab at that time about ten
thousand men, all

naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount
Tabor, and take with thee ten
thousand men of the children of
Naphtali and of the children of
Zebulun?
She summoned
Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in
Naphtali and said to him, “Surely the LORD, the God of Israel, is commanding you: ‘Go and march to Mount
Tabor, taking with you ten
thousand men of
Naphtali and
Zebulun.
And
Deborah said unto
Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So
Barak went down from mount
Tabor, and ten
thousand men after him.
Then
Deborah said to
Barak, “Arise, for this is the day that the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the LORD gone before you?” So
Barak came down from Mount
Tabor with ten
thousand men following him.
They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or
spear seen among forty
thousand in Israel?
When they chose new gods, then war came to their gates. Not a shield or
spear was found among forty
thousand in Israel.
Now therefore go to,
proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,
Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount
Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two
thousand; and there remained ten
thousand.
Now, therefore,
proclaim in the hearing of the people: ‘
Whoever is fearful and
trembling may turn back and leave Mount
Gilead.’” So twenty-two
thousand of them turned back, but ten
thousand remained.

thousand swordsmen had already fallen.

thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple

crescent ornaments, the pendants, the purple garments of the kings of
Midian, and the chains from the necks of their camels.
And all the people likewise cut down every man his
bough, and followed
Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of

So each man also cut his own branch and followed

Then three
thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to
Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
In
response, three
thousand men of Judah went to the cave at the rock of Etam, and they asked
Samson, “Do you not
realize that the Philistines rule over us? What have you done to us?” “I have done to them what they did to me,” he replied.
He found the fresh
jawbone of a

And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred
thousand footmen that drew sword.
The leaders of all the people and all the tribes of Israel presented themselves in the assembly of God’s people: 400,000 men on foot, armed with swords.
And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a
thousand, and a
thousand out of ten
thousand, to
fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.
We will take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of every
thousand, and a
thousand out of every ten
thousand, to supply provisions for the army when they go to Gibeah in Benjamin to
punish them for the
atrocity they have committed in Israel.”
And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
On that day the Benjamites

And there came against Gibeah ten
thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was
sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
Then 10,000 select men from all Israel made a
frontal assault against Gibeah, and the battle was fierce. But the Benjamites did not
realize that
disaster was upon them.
And the LORD
smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five
thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.

Rimmon, and Israel cut down 5,000 men on the roads. And they overtook them at Gidom and struck down 2,000 more.

slew of the army in the field about four
thousand men.

thousand men on the battlefield.
And the Philistines fought, and Israel was
smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty
thousand footmen.
So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great—thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell.
And he
smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he
smote of the people fifty
thousand and
threescore and ten men: and the people
lamented, because the LORD had
smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.
But God struck down some of the people of Beth-shemesh because they looked inside the ark of the LORD. He struck down seventy men, and the people
mourned because the LORD had struck them with a great slaughter.
And he will
appoint him captains over
thousands, and captains over
fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to
reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his
chariots.
He will
appoint some for himself as commanders of
thousands and of
fifties, and others to
plow his ground, to
reap his harvest, to make his weapons of war, and to
equip his
chariots.
And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your
adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him,
Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present
yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your
thousands.
But
today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your troubles and afflictions, and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us.’ Now therefore present
yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.”

And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
And as the women danced, they
sang out: “Saul has slain his
thousands, and David his tens of
thousands.”
And Saul was very
wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten
thousands, and to me they have ascribed but
thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?
And Saul was
furious and resented this song. “They have ascribed tens of
thousands to David,” he said, “but only
thousands to me. What more can he have but the kingdom?”

Jesse giving all of you fields and vineyards and making you commanders of
thousands or hundreds?
See therefore, and take knowledge of all the
lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the
thousands of Judah.
Observe and find out all the places where he hides. Then come back to me with certainty, and I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will search him out among all the clans of Judah.”

flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten
thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.
But the people
pleaded, “You must not go out! For if we have to
flee, they will pay no attention to us. Even if half of us die, they will not care; but you are worth ten
thousand of us. It is better for now if you support us from the city.”

Absalom.
The man replied, “Even if a
