How art thou fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which
didst weaken the nations!

dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O
destroyer of nations.

destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be
renowned.

The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
This is the burden against Moab: Ar in Moab is ruined,
destroyed in a night! Kir in Moab is
devastated,
destroyed in a night!
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a
covert to them from the face of the
spoiler: for the
extortioner is at an end, the
spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

destroyer.” When the
oppressor has gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have
vanished from the land,
And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

emptied out from among them, and I will
frustrate their plans, so that they will resort to idols and spirits of the dead, to mediums and spiritists.

destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the

tempest of
hail and a
destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

hailstorm or destructive
tempest, like a driving rain or flooding
downpour, he will
smash that crown to the ground.

churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to

plea of the
needy is just.

destroyer never
destroyed, O
traitor never

devote them to destruction; He will give them over to slaughter.

destroyed, as Gozan, and

Haran, and Rezeph, and of the people of
Eden in Telassar?

groan like a woman in labor; I will at once

fury of the
oppressor?
But you have forgotten the LORD, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. You live in terror all day long because of the
fury of the
oppressor who is bent on destruction. But where is the
fury of the
oppressor?

destroyer to
wreak havoc.
Instead of the
thorn shall come up the
fir tree, and instead of the
brier shall come up the
myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an

cypress will grow, and instead of the
brier, a
myrtle will spring up; they will make a name for the LORD, an

cluster, and one saith,
Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not
destroy them all.

cluster of grapes, and men say, ‘Do not
destroy it, for it contains a blessing,’ so I will act on behalf of My servants; I will not
destroy them all.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the
bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not
hurt nor
destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

harm nor
destroy on all My holy mountain,” says the LORD.

tear down, to
destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”

thicket, and the
destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land

thicket, and a
destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his
lair to lay waste your land. Your cities will be reduced to ruins and lie uninhabited.
Destruction upon destruction is
cried; for the whole land is
spoiled: suddenly are my tents
spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall
impoverish thy
fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
They will
devour your harvest and food; they will
consume your sons and daughters; they will eat up your flocks and herds; they will feed on your vines and fig trees. With the sword they will
destroy the fortified cities in which you trust.”
I have
likened the daughter of
Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

destroy the Daughter of
Zion.

O daughter of my people, dress
yourselves in
sackcloth and roll in ashes.
Mourn with bitter
wailing, as you would for an only son, for suddenly the
destroyer will come upon us.
Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
Who is the man wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of the LORD spoken, that he may explain it? Why is the land
destroyed and
scorched like a desert, so no one can pass through it?
My tabernacle is
spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
My tent is
destroyed, and all its ropes are
snapped. My sons have departed from me and are no more. I have no one left to pitch my tent or set up my curtains.
But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had
plotted against me: “Let us
destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”
Many pastors have
destroyed my
vineyard, they have
trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a
desolate wilderness.
The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall
devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the sword of the LORD devours from one end of the earth to the other. No flesh has peace.

pluck up and
destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
But if they will not obey, then I will

uproot it and
destroy it, declares the LORD.”
And I will
dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not
pity, nor
spare, nor have mercy, but
destroy them.

smash them against one another, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will allow no mercy or
pity or
compassion to keep Me from
destroying them.’”

appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to
slay, and the dogs to

destroy.

destroyers, declares the LORD: the sword to kill, the dogs to
drag away, and the birds of the air and beasts of the earth to
devour and
destroy.
Thou hast
forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and
destroy thee; I am
weary with
repenting.

forsaken Me, declares the LORD. You have turned your back. So I will stretch out My hand against you and I will
destroy you; I am
weary of showing
compassion.
And I will
fan them with a
fan in the gates of the land; I will
bereave them of children, I will
destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.
I will
scatter them with a
winnowing fork at the gates of the land. I will
bereave and
destroy My people who have not turned from their ways.
Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a
spoiler at
noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
I will make their widows more numerous than the sand of the sea. I will bring a
destroyer at
noon against the mothers of young men. I will suddenly bring upon them
anguish and dismay.
Let them be confounded that
persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and
destroy them with double destruction.
Let my persecutors be put to shame, but do not let me be put to shame. Let them be
terrified, but do not let me be
terrified. Bring upon them the day of
disaster and
shatter them with double destruction.
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to
pluck up, and to pull down, and to
destroy it;
At any time I might
announce that a nation or kingdom will be uprooted,
torn down, and
destroyed.
For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

destroy it with fire.’

Go up to
Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in

crushed.

destroy and
scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.

destroy them, and make them an
astonishment, and an
hissing, and perpetual desolations.
behold, I will
summon all the families of the north, declares the LORD, and I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, whom I will bring against this land, against its residents, and against all the surrounding nations. So I will
devote them to destruction and make them an object of
horror and contempt, an
everlasting desolation.
A voice of the cry of the
shepherds, and an
howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath
spoiled their pasture.
Hear the cry of the
shepherds, the
wailing of the leaders of the flock, for the LORD is
destroying their pasture.
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I
punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the
pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and does not place its neck under his yoke, I will
punish that nation by sword and famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I have
destroyed it by his hand.
For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations
whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
For I am with you to save you, declares the LORD. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have scattered you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to
pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to
destroy, and to
afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
Just as I watched over them to
uproot and
tear down, to
demolish,
destroy, and bring
disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant,” declares the LORD.
And thou shalt say to
Jehoiakim the king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and
destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
You are to
proclaim concerning
Jehoiakim king of Judah that this is what the LORD says: You have burned the
scroll and said, ‘Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon would surely come and
destroy this land and deprive it of man and beast?’
Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.

churn like rivers,
boasting, ‘I will rise and cover the earth; I will
destroy the cities and their people.’

thyself to go into captivity: for
Noph shall be waste and

destroyed and uninhabited.
Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations
whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have banished you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
Because of the day that cometh to
spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will
spoil the Philistines, the
remnant of the country of Caphtor.
For the day has come to
destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and
Sidon every remaining ally. Indeed, the LORD is about to
destroy the Philistines, the
remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.

Moab will be
shattered; her little ones will cry out.

spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be
destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.
The destroyer will move against every city, and not one town will escape. The valley will also be ruined, and the high plain will be destroyed, as the LORD has said.
Moab is
spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

Thou daughter that
dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in
thirst; for the
spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall
destroy thy strong holds.

parched ground, O daughter dwelling in Dibon, for the
destroyer of Moab has come against you; he has
destroyed your fortresses.
Moab is confounded; for it is broken down:
howl and cry; and tell ye it in
Arnon, that Moab is
spoiled,
Moab is put to shame, for it has been
shattered.
Wail and cry out! Declare by the
Arnon that Moab is
destroyed.
O vine of Sibmah, I will
weep for thee with the
weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the
spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy
vintage.
I will
weep for you, O vine of Sibmah, more than I
weep for Jazer. Your tendrils have extended to the sea; they reach even to Jazer. The
destroyer has descended on your summer fruit and
grape harvest.
And Moab shall be
destroyed from being a people, because he hath
magnified himself against the LORD.
Moab will be
destroyed as a nation because he
vaunted himself against the LORD.
Howl, O
Heshbon, for
Ai is
spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah,
gird you with
sackcloth;
lament, and run to and
fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
Wail, O
Heshbon, for
Ai has been
destroyed; cry out, O daughters of Rabbah! Put on
sackcloth and
mourn; run back and forth within your walls, for Milcom will go into exile together with his priests and officials.
If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some
gleaning grapes? if
thieves by night, they will
destroy till they have enough.
If
grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings? Were
thieves to come in the night, would they not
steal only what they wanted?
But I have made
Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is
spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
But I will strip
Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding places, and he will be unable to
conceal himself. His descendants will be
destroyed along with his relatives and neighbors, and he will be no more.
Concerning
Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall
smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to
Kedar, and
spoil the men of the east.
Concerning
Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated, this is what the LORD says: “Rise up, advance against
Kedar, and
destroy the people of the east!
And I will set my throne in
Elam, and will
destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
I will set My throne in
Elam, and
destroy its king and officials,” declares the LORD.
Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the residents of Pekod. Kill them and
devote them to destruction. Do all that I have commanded you,” declares the LORD.
Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Come against her from the
farthest border. Break open her
granaries; pile her up like mounds of grain.
Devote her to destruction; leave her no survivors.
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
This is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will
stir up against Babylon and against the people of Leb-kamai the spirit of a
destroyer.
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his
brigandine: and
spare ye not her young men;
destroy ye utterly all her host.
Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his
armor. Do not
spare her young men;
devote all her army to destruction!
Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S
vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.
Flee from Babylon! Escape with your lives! Do not be
destroyed in her punishment. For this is the time of the LORD’s
vengeance; He will pay her what she deserves.
Babylon is suddenly fallen and
destroyed:
howl for her; take
balm for her pain, if so she may be
healed.
Suddenly Babylon has fallen and been
shattered.
Wail for her; get her
balm for her pain; perhaps she can be
healed.
Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his
device is against Babylon, to
destroy it; because it is the
vengeance of the LORD, the
vengeance of his temple.
Sharpen the arrows! Fill the quivers! The LORD has
aroused the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because His plan is aimed at Babylon to
destroy her, for it is the
vengeance of the LORD—
vengeance for His temple.
Thou art my battle
axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I
destroy kingdoms;
“You are My war club, My weapon for battle. With you I
shatter nations; with you I bring kingdoms to ruin.
Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
“Behold, I am against you, O
destroying mountain, you who
devastate the whole earth, declares the LORD. I will stretch out My hand against you; I will roll you over the cliffs and turn you into a
charred mountain.
Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.
Then heaven and earth and all that is in them will
shout for joy over Babylon because the
destroyers from the north will come against her,” declares the LORD.
Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should
fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.
Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens and fortifies her lofty
stronghold, the
destroyers I send will come against her,” declares the LORD.
Because the LORD hath
spoiled Babylon, and
destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do
roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
For the LORD will
destroy Babylon; He will silence her mighty voice. The waves will
roar like great waters; the
tumult of their voices will resound.
Because the
spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.
For a
destroyer is coming against her— against Babylon. Her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken, for the LORD is a God of
retribution; He will repay in full.
The Lord was as an enemy: he hath
swallowed up Israel, he hath
swallowed up all her palaces: he hath
destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah
mourning and
lamentation.
The Lord is like an enemy; He has
swallowed up Israel. He has
swallowed up all her palaces and
destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied
mourning and
lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.
And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath
destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden
booth; He has
destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
The LORD hath purposed to
destroy the wall of the daughter of
Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from
destroying: therefore he made the
rampart and the wall to
lament; they
languished together.
The LORD determined to
destroy the wall of the Daughter of
Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withdraw His hand from
destroying. He made the ramparts and walls
lament; together they waste away.
Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.
Her gates have sunk into the ground; He has
destroyed and
shattered their bars. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and even her prophets find no vision from the LORD.
Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have
swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.
You summoned my attackers on every side, as for the day of an appointed feast. In the day of the LORD’s anger no one escaped or survived; my enemy has
destroyed those I
nurtured and reared.
Persecute and
destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
You will pursue them in anger and
exterminate them from under Your heavens, O LORD.
When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
