Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot
fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall
fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will
fall by the sword.’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon
Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it
desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall
fall by the sword.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will stretch out My hand against
Edom and cut off from it both man and beast. I will make it a wasteland, and from Teman to Dedan they will
fall by the sword.
With the
hoofs of his horses shall he
tread down all thy streets: he shall
slay thy people by the sword, and thy strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.
The
hooves of his horses will
trample all your streets. He will slaughter your people with the sword, and your mighty pillars will
fall to the ground.
Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles
shake at the sound of thy
fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
This is what the Lord GOD says to Tyre: ‘Will not the coastlands
quake at the sound of your
downfall, when the wounded
groan at the slaughter in your midst?
Now shall the isles
tremble in the day of thy
fall;
yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure.
Now the coastlands
tremble on the day of your
downfall; the islands in the sea are dismayed by your
demise.”’
Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy
merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy
merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall
fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
Your wealth, wares, and
merchandise, your sailors, captains, and shipwrights, your merchants and all the warriors within you, with all the other people on board, will sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your
downfall.
In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy
merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall
fall.
Now you are
shattered by the seas in the depths of the waters; your
merchandise and the people among you have gone down with you.
For I will send into her
pestilence, and blood into her street; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send a plague against her and shed blood in her streets; the slain will fall within her, while the sword is against her on every side. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.
I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and will not be taken away or gathered for burial. I have given you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.
And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in
Ethiopia, when the slain shall
fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.
A sword will come against Egypt, and there will be
anguish in
Cush when the slain
fall in Egypt, its wealth is taken away, and its foundations are
torn down.
Ethiopia, and
Libya, and
Lydia, and all the mingled people, and
Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall
fall with them by the sword.
Cush, Put, and Lud, and all the various peoples, as well as
Libya and the men of the covenant land, will
fall with Egypt by the sword.
Thus saith the LORD; They also that
uphold Egypt shall
fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of
Syene shall they
fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
For this is what the LORD says: The allies of Egypt will
fall, and her proud strength will
collapse. From
Migdol to
Syene they will
fall by the sword within her, declares the Lord GOD.
The young men of
Aven and of
Pi-beseth shall
fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity.
The young men of On and
Pi-beseth will
fall by the sword, and those cities will go into captivity.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his arms, both the strong one and the one already broken, and will make the sword fall from his hand.
But I will
strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall
fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.
I will
strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king, but Pharaoh’s arms will
fall limp. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I place My sword in the hand of Babylon’s king, and he wields it against the land of Egypt.
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
Foreigners, the most
ruthless of the nations, cut it down and left it. Its branches have
fallen on the mountains and in every valley; its boughs lay broken in all the earth’s ravines. And all the peoples of the earth left its shade and abandoned it.
Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
All the birds of the air nested on its fallen trunk, and all the beasts of the field lived among its boughs.
I made the nations to
shake at the sound of his
fall, when I cast him down to
hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of
Eden, the choice and best of
Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the
nether parts of the earth.
I made the nations
quake at the sound of its
downfall, when I cast it down to
Sheol with those who descend to the Pit. Then all the trees of
Eden, the choicest and best of
Lebanon, all the well-watered trees, were
consoled in the earth below.
Yea, I will make many people
amazed at thee, and their kings shall be
horribly afraid for thee, when I shall
brandish my sword before them; and they shall
tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy
fall.
I will cause many peoples to be
appalled over you, and their kings will
shudder in
horror because of you when I
brandish My sword before them. On the day of your
downfall each of them will
tremble every moment for his life.’
By the swords of the mighty will I cause thy multitude to
fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: and they shall
spoil the
pomp of Egypt, and all the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.
I will make your hordes
fall by the swords of the mighty, the most
ruthless of all nations. They will
ravage the pride of Egypt and all her multitudes will be destroyed.
They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
They will
fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is appointed! Let them
drag her away along with all her multitudes.
Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:
Assyria is there with her whole company; her graves are all around her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword.
Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.
Her graves are set in the depths of the Pit, and her company is all around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword— those who once spread terror in the land of the living.
There is
Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain,
fallen by the sword, which are gone down
uncircumcised into the
nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
Elam is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain,
fallen by the sword— those who went down
uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
And they shall not lie with the mighty that are
fallen of the
uncircumcised, which are gone down to
hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their
iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
They do not lie down with the
fallen warriors of old, who went down to
Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads, whose shields rested on their bones, although the terror of the mighty was once in the land of the living.
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his
transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not
fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his
transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to
stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be able to
survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.’
Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall
fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be
devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the
pestilence.
Tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘As surely as I live, those in the ruins will
fall by the sword, those in the open field I will give to be
devoured by wild animals, and those in the strongholds and caves will die by plague.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
I will fill its mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills, in your valleys, and in all your ravines.
Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.
I will no longer allow the taunts of the nations to be heard against you, and you will no longer
endure the reproach of the peoples or cause your nation to
stumble, declares the Lord GOD.”
So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all
creeping things that
creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall
shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall
fall, and every wall shall
fall to the ground.
The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will
tremble at My presence. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will
collapse, and every wall will
fall to the ground.
And I will
smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to
fall out of thy right hand.
Then I will strike the bow from your left hand and
dash down the arrows from your right hand.
Thou shalt
fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the
ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be
devoured.
On the mountains of Israel you will
fall—you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to every kind of
ravenous bird and wild beast.
Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.
Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity.
Because they ministered before their idols and became a
stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I
swore with an
uplifted hand concerning them that they would bear the consequences of their iniquity, declares the Lord GOD.
And ye shall
inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall
fall unto you for inheritance.
You are to divide it equally among them. Because I
swore with an
uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will
fall to you as an inheritance.
As soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must
fall down and worship the golden statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not
fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Therefore, as soon as all the people heard the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, and all kinds of music, the people of every nation and language would
fall down and worship the golden statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall
fall down and worship the golden image:
You, O king, have issued a decree that
everyone who hears the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music must
fall down and worship the golden statue,
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye
fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must
fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall
exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall
fall.
In those times many will rise up against the king of the South. Violent ones among your own people will
exalt themselves in
fulfillment of the vision, but they will fail.
Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall
stumble and
fall, and not be found.
After this, he will turn back toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will
stumble and
fall and be no more.
Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall
fall down slain.
Those who eat from his provisions will seek to destroy him; his army will be swept away, and many will fall slain.
And they that understand among the people shall
instruct many: yet they shall
fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by
spoil, many days.
Those with insight will
instruct many, though for a time they will
fall by sword or flame, or be captured or
plundered.
Now when they shall
fall, they shall be
holpen with a little help: but many shall
cleave to them with
flatteries.
Now when they
fall, they will be granted a little help, but many will join them
insincerely.
And some of them of understanding shall
fall, to try them, and to
purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Some of the wise will
fall, so that they may be refined,
purified, and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even
Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of
Ammon.
He will also
invade the Beautiful Land, and many countries will
fall. But these will be delivered from his hand:
Edom, Moab, and the leaders of the
Ammonites.
Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
You will
stumble by day, and the prophet will
stumble with you by night; so I will destroy your mother—
I will not
punish your daughters when they commit
whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit
adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that
doth not understand shall
fall.
I will not
punish your daughters when they
prostitute themselves, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit
adultery. For the men themselves go off with prostitutes and offer sacrifices with
shrine prostitutes. So a people without understanding will come to ruin.
And the pride of Israel
doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim
fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall
fall with them.
Israel’s
arrogance testifies against them; Israel and Ephraim
stumble in their iniquity; even Judah stumbles with them.
They are all hot as an
oven, and have
devoured their judges; all their kings are
fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
All of them are hot as an
oven, and they
devour their rulers. All their kings
fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
They return, but not to the most High: they are like a
deceitful bow: their princes shall
fall by the sword for the
rage of their tongue: this shall be their
derision in the land of Egypt.
They turn, but not to the Most High; they are like a
faulty bow. Their leaders will
fall by the sword for the
cursing of their tongue; for this they will be
ridiculed in the land of Egypt.
The high places also of
Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the
thorn and the
thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills,
Fall on us.
The high places of
Aven will be destroyed— it is the sin of Israel; thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “
Fall on us!”
Sow to
yourselves in righteousness,
reap in mercy; break up your
fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Sow for
yourselves righteousness and
reap the fruit of loving devotion; break up your
unplowed ground. For it is time to seek the LORD until He comes and sends righteousness upon you like rain.
Samaria shall become
desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall
fall by the sword: their infants shall be
dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be
ripped up.
Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will
fall by the sword; their little ones will be
dashed to pieces, and their
pregnant women
ripped open.
O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have
stumbled by your iniquity.
Who is wise, and he shall understand these things?
prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall
fall therein.
Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
They do not
jostle one another; each proceeds in his path. They
burst through the defenses, never breaking ranks.
Can a bird
fall in a
snare upon the earth, where no
gin is for him? shall one take up a
snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Does a bird land in a
snare where no
bait has been set? Does a
trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of
Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and
fall to the ground.
On the day I
punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of
Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will
fall to the ground.
The virgin of Israel is
fallen; she shall no more rise: she is
forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an
harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall
fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a
polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a
prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will
fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you
yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
They that
swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O
Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-
sheba liveth; even they shall
fall, and never rise up again.
Those who
swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, ‘As surely as your god lives, O
Dan,’ or, ‘As surely as the way of
Beersheba lives’— they will
fall, never to rise again.”
For, lo, I will command, and I will
sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is
sifted in a
sieve, yet shall not the least grain
fall upon the earth.
“For surely I will give the command, and I will
shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is
sifted in a
sieve; but not a
pebble will reach the ground.
In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
“In that day I will restore the fallen tent of David. I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I
fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
Do not
gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have
fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.
All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be
shaken, they shall even
fall into the mouth of the eater.
All your fortresses are fig trees with the first ripe figs; when
shaken, they
fall into the mouth of the eater!
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to
Zion, Let not thine hands be
slack.
On that day they will say to Jerusalem: “Do not fear, O
Zion; do not let your hands
fall limp.
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the
chariots, and those that
ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn
chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will
fall, each by the sword of his brother.
For I will no more
pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall
smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
For I will no longer have
compassion on the people of the land, declares the LORD, but behold, I will cause each man to
fall into the hands of his
neighbor and his king, who will
devastate the land, and I will not deliver it from their hands.”
And it shall be, that
whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague,
wherewith the LORD will
smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter in, then the rain will not
fall on them; this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou
wilt fall down and worship me.
“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.”
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
The rain fell, the torrents
raged, and the winds
blew and beat against that house; yet it did not
fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the
fall of it.
The rain fell, the torrents
raged, and the winds
blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its
collapse!”
Are not two sparrows sold for a
farthing? and one of them shall not
fall on the ground without your Father.
Are not two sparrows sold for a
penny? Yet not one of them will
fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.”
And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
He replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall
fall into the
ditch.
Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
“
Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that
fall from their master’s table.”
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and
sore vexed: for
ofttimes he
falleth into the fire, and
oft into the water.
“Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering
terribly. He often
falls into the fire or into the water.
He who
falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it
falls will be
crushed.”
And then shall many be
offended, and shall
betray one another, and shall
hate one another.
At that time many will
fall away and will
betray and
hate one another,
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall
fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken:
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be
darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will
fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be
shaken.’
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be
offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the
shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all
fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be
offended because of thee, yet will I never be
offended.
Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which
slept arose,
The tombs broke open, and the bodies of many saints who had
fallen asleep were raised.
And have no root in themselves, and so
endure but for a time: afterward, when
affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are
offended.
But they themselves have no root, and they remain for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
And the stars of heaven shall
fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be
shaken.
the stars will
fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be
shaken.’
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be
offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the
shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
Then Jesus said to them, “You will all
fall away, for it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
