Then
Jephthah gathered together all the men of
Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of
Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
Jephthah then
gathered all the men of
Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of
Gilead struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are fugitives in Ephraim, living in the territories of Ephraim and
Manasseh.”
And it was told the Gazites, saying,
Samson is come
hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the
gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
When the Gazites heard that
Samson was there, they surrounded that place and lay in wait for him all night at the city
gate. They were quiet throughout the night, saying, “Let us wait until
dawn; then we will kill him.”
And
Samson lay till
midnight, and arose at
midnight, and took the doors of the
gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before
Hebron.
But
Samson lay there only until
midnight, when he got up, took hold of the doors of the city
gate and both
gateposts, and pulled them out, bar and all. Then he put them on his shoulders and took them to the top of the mountain overlooking
Hebron.
Then the lords of the Philistines
gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto
Dagon their god, and to
rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered
Samson our enemy into our hand.
Now the lords of the Philistines
gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to their god
Dagon. They
rejoiced and said, “Our god has delivered
Samson our enemy into our hands.”
And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of
Dan, stood by the entering of the
gate.
The six hundred Danites stood at the entrance of the gate, armed with their weapons of war.
And the five men that went to
spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the
graven image, and the
ephod, and the
teraphim, and the
molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the
gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.
And the five men who had gone to
spy out the land went inside and took the
graven image, the
ephod, the household idols, and the
molten idol, while the priest stood at the entrance of the
gate with the six hundred armed men.
And when they were a good way from the house of
Micah, the men that were in the houses near to
Micah’s house were
gathered together, and overtook the children of
Dan.
After they were some distance from
Micah’s house, the men in the houses near
Micah’s house
mobilized and overtook the Danites.
And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her up upon an
ass, and the man rose up, and
gat him unto his place.
“Get up,” he told her. “Let us go.” But there was no
response. So the man put her on his
donkey and set out for home.
Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was
gathered together as one man, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, with the land of
Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.
Then all the Israelites from
Dan to
Beersheba and from the land of
Gilead came out, and the congregation assembled as one man before the LORD at
Mizpah.
So all the men of Israel were
gathered against the city,
knit together as one man.
So all the men of Israel gathered as one man, united against the city.
But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
And from their cities they came together at Gibeah to go out and fight against the Israelites.
And she said, I pray you, let me
glean and
gather after the reapers among the
sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she
tarried a little in the house.
She has said, ‘Please let me
glean and
gather among the
sheaves after the harvesters.’ So she came out and has continued from morning until now, except that she rested a short time in the shelter.”
And when she was risen up to
glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her
glean even among the
sheaves, and reproach her not:
When
Ruth got up to
glean, Boaz ordered his young men, “Even if she
gathers among the
sheaves, do not
insult her.
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may
glean them, and
rebuke her not.
Rather, pull out for her some stalks from the bundles and leave them for her to
gather. Do not
rebuke her.”
So she
gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had
gleaned: and it was about an
ephah of barley.
So
Ruth gathered grain in the field until evening. And when she beat out what she had
gleaned, it was about an
ephah of barley.
And
Ruth the
Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
Then
Ruth the
Moabitess said, “He also told me, ‘Stay with my young men until they have finished
gathering all my harvest.’”
Then went Boaz up to the
gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the
kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
Meanwhile, Boaz went to the
gate and sat down there. Soon the
kinsman-
redeemer of whom he had spoken came along, and Boaz said, “Come over here, my friend, and sit down.” So he went over and sat down.
Moreover
Ruth the
Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the
gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
Moreover, I have acquired
Ruth the
Moabitess, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, to raise up the name of the deceased through his inheritance, so that his name will not disappear from among his brothers or from the
gate of his home. You are witnesses
today.”
And all the people that were in the
gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like
Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou
worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in
Bethlehem:
“We are witnesses,” said the elders and all the people at the
gate. “May the LORD make the woman entering your home like
Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you be prosperous in Ephrathah and famous in
Bethlehem.
And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the
gate, and his neck
brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.
As soon as the ark of God was mentioned,
Eli fell backward from his chair by the city
gate, and being old and heavy, he broke his neck and died. And
Eli had judged Israel forty years.
They sent therefore and
gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto
Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.
So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” “It must be moved to
Gath,” they replied. So they carried away the ark of the God of Israel.
And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he
smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had
emerods in their secret parts.
But after they had moved the ark to
Gath, the LORD’s hand was also against that city, throwing it into great confusion and
afflicting the men of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
So they sent and
gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it
slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
Then the Ekronites assembled all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel. It must return to its place, so that it will not kill us and our people!” For a deadly confusion had
pervaded the city; the hand of God was heavy upon it.
As a guilt offering to the LORD, the Philistines had sent back one gold
tumor for each city:
Ashdod,
Gaza, Ashkelon,
Gath, and
Ekron.
And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD.
Then Samuel said, “
Gather all Israel to
Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD on your behalf.”
And they
gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have
sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.
When they had
gathered at
Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the LORD. On that day they fasted, and there they
confessed, “We have
sinned against the LORD.” And Samuel judged the Israelites at
Mizpah.
And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had
gathered at
Mizpah, their rulers marched up toward Israel. And when the Israelites learned of this, they feared the Philistines
And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from
Ekron even unto
Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the
Amorites.
The cities from
Ekron to
Gath, which the Philistines had taken, were restored to Israel, who also delivered the surrounding territory from the hand of the Philistines. And there was peace between the Israelites and the
Amorites.
Then all the elders of Israel
gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto
Ramah,
So all the elders of Israel
gathered together and came to Samuel at
Ramah.
Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the
gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the
seer’s house is.
Saul approached Samuel in the
gateway and asked, “Would you please tell me where the
seer’s house is?”
And the Philistines
gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand
chariots, and six thousand
horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in
Michmash, eastward from Beth-
aven.
Now the Philistines assembled to fight against Israel with three thousand
chariots, six thousand
horsemen, and troops as numerous as the sand on the
seashore. They went up and camped at
Michmash, east of Beth-
aven.
And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines
gathered themselves together at
Michmash;
“What have you done?” Samuel asked. And Saul replied, “When I saw that the troops were deserting me, and that you did not come at the appointed time and the Philistines were
gathering at
Michmash,
And Samuel arose, and
gat him up from
Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
Then Samuel set out from
Gilgal and went up to Gibeah in Benjamin. And Saul numbered the troops who were with him, about six hundred men.
And he
gathered an host, and
smote the
Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that
spoiled them.
He fought
valiantly and defeated the
Amalekites, delivering Israel from the hands of its plunderers.
And Saul
gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand
footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
So Saul summoned the troops and numbered them at Telaim—200,000 foot soldiers and 10,000 men of Judah.
Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.
Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war at Socoh in Judah, and they camped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephes-dammim.
And Saul and the men of Israel were
gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in
array against the Philistines.
Saul and the men of Israel assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah,
arraying themselves for battle against the Philistines.
And there went out a
champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named
Goliath, of
Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the
champion, the
Philistine of
Gath,
Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
And as he was speaking with them, suddenly the
champion named
Goliath, the
Philistine from
Gath, came forward from the Philistines and
shouted his usual words, which David also heard.
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and
shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the
gates of
Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto
Gath, and unto
Ekron.
Then the men of Israel and Judah charged forward with a
shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of
Gath and to the
gates of
Ekron. And the bodies of the Philistines were
strewn along the Shaaraim road to
Gath and
Ekron.
And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of
Gath.
That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of
Gath.
And David laid up these words in his heart, and was
sore afraid of Achish the king of
Gath.
Now David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish the king of
Gath.
And he changed his behaviour before them, and
feigned himself
mad in their hands, and
scrabbled on the doors of the
gate, and let his
spittle fall down upon his
beard.
David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave
Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
So David left
Gath and took refuge in the cave of
Adullam. When his brothers and the rest of his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there.
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
And all who were distressed or indebted or discontented
rallied around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.
And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
When Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, he said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he has
trapped himself by entering a town with
gates and bars.”
And David
sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men
gat them up unto the hold.
So David gave his oath to Saul. Then Saul returned home, but David and his men went up to the
stronghold.
And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were
gathered together, and
lamented him, and buried him in his house at
Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of
Paran.
When Samuel died, all Israel
gathered to
mourn for him; and they buried him at his home in
Ramah. Then David set out and went down to the Wilderness of
Paran.
So David took the
spear and the
cruse of water from Saul’s
bolster; and they
gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither
awaked: for they were all
asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.
So David took the
spear and water
jug by Saul’s head, and they departed. No one saw them or knew about it, nor did
anyone wake up; they all remained
asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen on them.
And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of
Gath.
So David set out with his six hundred men and went to Achish son of Maoch, the king of
Gath.
And David dwelt with Achish at
Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and
Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s wife.
David and his men settled in
Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives: Ahinoam of
Jezreel and
Abigail of
Carmel, the widow of Nabal.
And it was told Saul that David was fled to
Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
And when Saul learned that David had fled to
Gath, he no longer searched for him.
And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring
tidings to
Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
David did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to
Gath, for he said, “Otherwise they will report us, saying, ‘This is what David did.’” And this was David’s custom the whole time he lived in
Philistine territory.
And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines
gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou
assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
Now in those days the Philistines gathered their forces for warfare against Israel. So Achish said to David, “You must understand that you and your men are to go out to battle with me.”
And the Philistines
gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul
gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in
Gilboa.
The Philistines came together and camped at Shunem, while Saul
gathered all Israel and camped at
Gilboa.
Now the Philistines
gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites pitched by a fountain which is in
Jezreel.
Now the Philistines brought all their forces together at Aphek, while Israel camped by the spring in
Jezreel.
And the children of Benjamin
gathered themselves together after
Abner, and became one
troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
The Benjamites
rallied to
Abner, formed a single unit, and took their stand
atop a hill.
And
Joab returned from following
Abner: and when he had
gathered all the people together, there lacked of David’s servants
nineteen men and
Asahel.
When
Joab returned from pursuing
Abner, he
gathered all the troops. In addition to
Asahel,
nineteen of David’s servants were missing,
And
Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will
gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent
Abner away; and he went in peace.
Then
Abner said to David, “Let me go at once, and I will
gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may rule over all that your heart desires.” So David dismissed
Abner, and he went in peace.
And when
Abner was returned to
Hebron,
Joab took him aside in the
gate to speak with him quietly, and
smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of
Asahel his brother.
For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his
bedchamber, and they
smote him, and
slew him, and
beheaded him, and took his head, and
gat them away through the plain all night.
They had entered the house while
Ish-bosheth was lying on his bed, and having
stabbed and killed him, they
beheaded him, took his head, and traveled all night by way of the Arabah.
Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
David again assembled the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand in all.
And David
gat him a name when he returned from
smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array at the entering in of the
gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and
Ish-
tob, and
Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance of the city
gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of
Tob and
Maacah were by themselves in the open country.
And when the Syrians saw that they were
smitten before Israel, they
gathered themselves together.
When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they regrouped.
And when it was told David, he
gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in
array against David, and fought with him.
When this was reported to David, he
gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, and went to Helam. Then the Arameans
arrayed themselves against David and fought against him.
And the
messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the
gate.
The
messenger said to David, “The men overpowered us and came out against us in the field, but we drove them back to the entrance of the
gate.
Now therefore
gather the rest of the people together, and
encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
Now, therefore,
assemble the rest of the troops, lay siege to the city, and capture it. Otherwise I will capture the city, and it will be named after me.”
And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
So David assembled all the troops and went to Rabbah; and he fought against it and captured it.
And the servants of
Absalom did unto Amnon as
Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and every man
gat him up upon his
mule, and fled.
So
Absalom’s young men did to Amnon just as
Absalom had ordered. Then all the other sons of the king got up, and each one fled on his
mule.
For we must needs die, and are as water
spilt on the ground, which cannot be
gathered up again; neither
doth God respect any person: yet
doth he
devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
For surely we will die and be like water poured out on the ground, which cannot be recovered. Yet God does not take away a life; but He devises ways that the banished one may not be cast out from Him.
And
Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the
gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then
Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
He would get up early and stand beside the road leading to the city
gate. Whenever
anyone had a
grievance to bring before the king for a decision,
Absalom would call out and ask, “What city are you from?” And if he replied, “Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,”
And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from
Gath, passed on before the king.
and all his servants marched past him—all the Cherethites and Pelethites, and six hundred Gittites who had followed him from
Gath.
Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally
gathered unto thee, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
And when
Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he
saddled his
ass, and arose, and
gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and
hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the
sepulchre of his father.
When
Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he
saddled his
donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his affairs in order and
hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.
And the king said unto them, What seemeth you best I will do. And the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands.
“I will do whatever seems best to you,” the king replied. So he stood beside the gate, while all the troops marched out by hundreds and by thousands.
And David sat between the two
gates: and the
watchman went up to the roof over the
gate unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man running alone.
Now David was sitting between the two
gates when the
watchman went up to the roof of the
gateway by the wall, looked out, and saw a man running alone.
And the
watchman saw another man running: and the
watchman called unto the porter, and said, Behold another man running alone. And the king said, He also bringeth
tidings.
the
watchman saw another man running, and he called out to the
gatekeeper, “Look! Another man is running alone!” “This one also brings good news,” said the king.
And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the
gate, and
wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son
Absalom, my son, my son
Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O
Absalom, my son, my son!
The king was
shaken and went up to the
gate chamber and
wept. And as he walked, he
cried out, “O my son
Absalom! My son, my son
Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, O
Absalom, my son, my son!”
And the people
gat them by
stealth that day into the city, as people being
ashamed steal away when they
flee in battle.
Then the king arose, and sat in the
gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king
doth sit in the
gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.
So the king got up and sat in the gate, and all the people were told: “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” So they all came before the king. Meanwhile, the Israelites had fled, each man to his home.
And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto
Abel, and to Beth-maachah, and all the Berites: and they were
gathered together, and went also after him.
Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to
Abel-beth-
maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who
gathered together and followed him.
And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of
Jonathan his son; and they
gathered the bones of them that were
hanged.
So David had the bones of Saul and his son
Jonathan brought from there, along with the bones of those who had been
hanged.
And there was yet a battle in
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
These four were born to the
giant in
Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
So these four descendants of Rapha in
Gath fell at the hands of David and his servants.
And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the
skies.
He made darkness a
canopy around Him, a
gathering of water and thick clouds.
But the sons of
Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
But the worthless are all like thorns
raked aside, for they can never be
gathered by hand.
And after him was
Eleazar the son of
Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they
defied the Philistines that were there
gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
Next in command was
Eleazar son of
Dodo the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he went with David to
taunt the Philistines who had
gathered for battle at
Pas-dammim. The men of Israel retreated,
And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were
gathered together into a
troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.
And after him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines had banded together near a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them.
And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of
Bethlehem, which is by the
gate!
David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the
gate of
Bethlehem!”
And the three mighty men
brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of
Bethlehem, that was by the
gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
So the three mighty men broke through the
Philistine camp, drew water from the well near the
gate of
Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,
Now king David was old and
stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he
gat no heat.
Now King David was old and well along in years, and though they covered him with blankets, he could not keep warm.
And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of
Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in
Gath.
After three years, however, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish son of
Maacah, king of
