land as an inheritance, as a
heritage to His people Israel.

land for an

land as an inheritance, His loving devotion endures
forever.

cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the
land of the living.

I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a
thirsty land.
Selah.

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

landmark, which thy fathers have set.

encroach on the fields of the fatherless,

land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
Woe to you, O
land whose king is a youth, and whose princes feast in the morning.
Blessed art thou, O
land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for
drunkenness!
Blessed are you, O
land whose king is a son of nobles, and whose princes feast at the proper time— for strength and not for
drunkenness.

disaster may
befall the
land.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the
turtle is heard in our
land;
The flowers have appeared in the
countryside; the season of singing has come, and the
cooing of turtledoves is heard in our
land.
Your country is
desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your
land, strangers
devour it in your presence, and it is
desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

obedient, ye shall eat the good of the
land:

obedient, you will eat the best of the
land.
Their
land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their
land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their
chariots:
Their
land is full of silver and gold, with no limit to their treasures; their
land is full of horses, with no limit to their
chariots.
Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.

land.
And in that day they shall
roar against them like the
roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the
land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is
darkened in the heavens thereof.
In that day they will
roar over it, like the
roaring of the sea. If one looks over the
land, he will see darkness and distress; even the light will be obscured by clouds.
Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the
land be utterly
desolate,
Then I asked: “How long, O Lord?” And He replied: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left unoccupied and the
land is
desolate and
ravaged,
And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great
forsaking in the midst of the
land.
until the LORD has driven men far away and the
land is utterly
forsaken.
But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a
teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
And though a tenth remains in the
land, it will be burned again. As the
terebinth and oak leave stumps when felled, so the holy seed will be a
stump in the
land.”
For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the
land that thou abhorrest shall be
forsaken of both her kings.
For before the boy knows enough to
reject evil and choose good, the
land of the two kings you
dread will be laid waste.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the
uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the
bee that is in the
land of Assyria.
On that day the LORD will
whistle to the
flies at the
farthest streams of the Nile and to the bees in the
land of Assyria.
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

land, O
Immanuel.
It will pour into Judah,
swirling and
sweeping over it, reaching up to the neck; its spreading streams will cover your entire
land, O
Immanuel!
Associate
yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries:
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces;
gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
And they shall pass through it, hardly
bestead and
hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be
hungry, they shall
fret themselves, and
curse their king and their God, and look upward.
Nevertheless, there will be no more
gloom for those in distress. In the past He humbled the
land of
Zebulun and the
land of
Naphtali, but in the future He will honor the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the nations:
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the
land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light
shined.
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the
land of the shadow of death, a light has
dawned.
Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the
land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall
spare his brother.
By the wrath of the LORD of Hosts the
land is
scorched, and the people are fuel for the fire. No man even spares his brother.
For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
For the Lord GOD of Hosts will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.
And there shall be an
highway for the
remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the
land of Egypt.
There will be a
highway for the
remnant of His people who remain from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from the
land of Egypt.
They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his
indignation, to destroy the whole
land.

Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the
land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Behold, the Day of the LORD is coming— cruel, with
fury and burning anger— to make the earth a
desolation and to destroy the sinners within it.
And it shall be as the
chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and
flee every one into his own
land.
Like a
hunted gazelle, like a sheep without a
shepherd, each will return to his own people, each will
flee to his native
land.
For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own
land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall
cleave to the house of Jacob.
For the LORD will have
compassion on Jacob; once again He will choose Israel and settle them in their own
land. The foreigner will join them and unite with the house of Jacob.
And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the
land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them
captives, whose
captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
The nations will
escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s
land. They will make
captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.
Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy
land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be
renowned.
You will not join them in burial, since you have destroyed your land and slaughtered your own people. The offspring of the wicked will never again be mentioned.
Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
Prepare a place to slaughter his sons for the
iniquities of their forefathers. They will never rise up to possess a
land or cover the earth with their cities.
That I will break the Assyrian in my
land, and upon my mountains
tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
I will break Assyria in My
land; I will
trample him on My mountain. His yoke will be taken off My people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.”
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the
remnant of the
land.
The waters of Dimon are full of blood, but I will bring more upon Dimon— a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon the
remnant of the
land.
Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the
land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of
Zion.
Send the tribute lambs to the ruler of the
land, from Sela in the desert to the mount of Daughter
Zion.
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a
covert to them from the face of the
spoiler: for the
extortioner is at an end, the
spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the
land.
Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer.” When the
oppressor has gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have
vanished from the
land,
Woe to the
land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia:
That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and
peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden down, whose
land the rivers have
spoiled!
which sends couriers by sea, in
papyrus vessels on the waters. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-
skinned, to a people widely feared, to a powerful nation of strange speech, whose
land is divided by rivers.
They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey, and to the beasts of the land. The birds will feed on them in summer, and all the wild animals in winter.
In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and
peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden under foot, whose
land the rivers have
spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount
Zion.
At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of Hosts— from a people tall and smooth-
skinned, from a people widely feared, from a powerful nation of strange speech, whose
land is divided by rivers— to Mount
Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD of Hosts.
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
The
land of Judah will bring terror to Egypt; whenever Judah is mentioned, Egypt will
tremble over what the LORD of Hosts has
planned against it.
In that day shall five cities in the
land of Egypt speak the language of
Canaan, and
swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
In that day five cities in the
land of Egypt will speak the language of
Canaan and
swear allegiance to the LORD of Hosts. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.
In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the
land of Egypt, and a
pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the center of the
land of Egypt, and a
pillar to the LORD near her border.
And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
It will be a sign and a witness to the LORD of Hosts in the
land of Egypt. When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, He will send them a
savior and defender to
rescue them.
In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:
In that day Israel will join a three-party alliance with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing upon the earth.
The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
This is the burden against the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds
sweeping through the Negev, an
invader comes from the desert, from a
land of terror.
The inhabitants of the
land of Tema brought water to him that was
thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
Bring water for the
thirsty, O dwellers of Tema; meet the refugees with food.
He will surely violently turn and
toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the
chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.
roll you into a ball, and
sling you into a wide
land. There you will die, and there your glorious
chariots will remain—a disgrace to the house of your master.
The burden of Tyre.
Howl, ye ships of
Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the
land of
Chittim it is revealed to them.
This is the burden against Tyre:
Wail, O ships of
Tarshish, for Tyre is laid waste, without house or
harbor. Word has reached them from the
land of
Cyprus.
Pass through thy
land as a river, O daughter of
Tarshish: there is no more strength.
Behold the
land of the Chaldeans; this people was not,
til the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
Look at the
land of the Chaldeans— a people now of no account. The Assyrians destined it for the desert creatures; they set up their siege towers and
stripped its palaces. They brought it to ruin.
The
land shall be utterly
emptied, and utterly
spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
The earth will be utterly laid waste and thoroughly
plundered. For the LORD has spoken this word.
There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is
darkened, the
mirth of the
land is gone.
In the streets they cry out for wine. All joy turns to
gloom;
rejoicing is exiled from the
land.
When thus it shall be in the midst of the
land among the people, there shall be as the
shaking of an olive tree, and as the
gleaning grapes when the
vintage is done.
So will it be on the earth and among the nations, like a harvested olive tree, like a
gleaning after a
grape harvest.
Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
like heat in a dry
land. You
subdue the
uproar of foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the
ruthless is silenced.
In that day shall this song be sung in the
land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God
appoint for walls and bulwarks.
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation is established as its walls and ramparts.
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.
Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art
glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.
You have enlarged the nation, O LORD; You have enlarged the nation. You have gained glory for
Yourself; You have extended all the borders of the
land.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great
trumpet shall be
blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the
land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the
land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
And in that day a great ram’s horn will sound, and those who were perishing in Assyria will come forth with those who were exiles in Egypt. And they will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
So now, do not
mock, or your
shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole
land.
The burden of the beasts of the south: into the
land of trouble and
anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the
viper and
fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young
asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.
This is the burden against the beasts of the Negev: Through a
land of
hardship and distress, of
lioness and lion, of
viper and flying serpent, they carry their wealth on the backs of
donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people of no profit to them.
Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt
sow the ground
withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and
plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
Then He will send rain for the seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food that comes from your
land will be rich and
plentiful. On that day your cattle will
graze in open pastures.
And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a
covert from the
tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a
weary land.
Each will be like a shelter from the wind, a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in a dry
land, like the shadow of a great rock in an
arid land.
Upon the
land of my people shall come up thorns and briers;
yea, upon all the houses of joy in the
joyous city:
and for the
land of my people, overgrown with thorns and briers— even for every house of
merriment in this city of
revelry.
Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Your eyes will see the King in His beauty and behold a
land that stretches
afar.
The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in
Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the
land of
Idumea.
The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood. It drips with fat— with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in
Bozrah, a great slaughter in the
land of
Edom.
And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their
land shall be
soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
And the wild oxen will fall with them, the young bulls with the strong ones. Their
land will be
drenched with blood, and their soil will be
soaked with fat.
And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into
brimstone, and the
land thereof shall become burning pitch.
Edom’s streams will be turned to tar, and her soil to sulfur; her
land will become a
blazing pitch.
