And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
And they answered the king, “As for the man who consumed us and
plotted against us to
exterminate us
from existing within any border of Israel,
And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took
sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock,
from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took
sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock.
From the beginning of the harvest until the rain
from heaven poured down on the bodies, she did not allow the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of
Jonathan his son
from the men of
Jabesh-
gilead, which had
stolen them
from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had
hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in
Gilboa:
he went and took the bones of Saul and his son
Jonathan from the men of
Jabesh-
gilead, who had
stolen them
from the public square of Beth-shan where the Philistines had hung the bodies after they had struck down Saul at
Gilboa.
And he brought up
from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of
Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were
hanged.
So David had the bones of Saul and his son
Jonathan brought
from there, along with the bones of those who had been
hanged.
And there was yet a battle in
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended
from Rapha,
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
And David
sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD had delivered him
from the hand of all his enemies and
from the hand of Saul.
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. My
stronghold, my refuge, and my
Savior, You save me
from violence.
I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and
cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
In my distress I called upon the LORD; I
cried out to my God. And
from His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help reached His ears.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth
devoured: coals were
kindled by it.
Through the brightness before him were coals of fire
kindled.
From the brightness of His presence coals of fire
blazed forth.
The LORD
thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
The LORD
thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.
He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.
He delivered me
from my strong enemy, and
from them that
hated me: for they were too strong for me.
He
rescued me
from my powerful enemy,
from foes too mighty for me.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.
I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.
And I have been
blameless before Him and kept myself
from iniquity.
Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
You have delivered me
from the
strife of my people; You have preserved me as the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.
Strangers shall
fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.
Foreigners lose heart and come
trembling from their strongholds.
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
who frees me
from my enemies. You
exalt me above my foes; You
rescue me
from violent men.
And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a
troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled
from the Philistines.
And after him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines had banded together near a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them.
And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of
Bethlehem, which is by the gate!
David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water
from the well near the gate of
Bethlehem!”
And the three mighty men
brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of
Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
So the three mighty men broke through the
Philistine camp, drew water
from the well near the gate of
Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,
And he said, Be it far
from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in
jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
saying, “Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this! Is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives?” So he refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a
valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he
slew two
lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and
slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a man of
valor from Kabzeel, a man of many exploits. He struck down two champions of Moab, and on a
snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.
And he
slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a
spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and
plucked the
spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and
slew him with his own
spear.
He also killed an Egyptian, a huge man. Although the Egyptian had a
spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club,
snatched the
spear from his hand, and killed the Egyptian with his own
spear.
Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,
Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjamites,
Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the
brooks of Gaash,
Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai
from the
brooks of Gaash,
For the king said to
Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel,
from Dan even to Beer-
sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.
So the king said to
Joab the commander of his army, who was with him, “Go now throughout the tribes of Israel
from Dan to
Beersheba and register the troops, so that I may know their number.”
Notwithstanding the king’s word prevailed against
Joab, and against the captains of the host. And
Joab and the captains of the host went out
from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
Nevertheless, the king’s word prevailed against
Joab and against the commanders of the army. So
Joab and the commanders of the army departed
from the presence of the king to count the troops of Israel.
For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet
Gad, David’s
seer, saying,
When David got up in the morning, a revelation
from the LORD had come to
Gad the prophet, David’s
seer:
So the LORD sent a
pestilence upon Israel
from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people
from Dan even to Beer-
sheba seventy thousand men.
So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel
from that morning until the appointed time, and seventy thousand of the people
from Dan to
Beersheba died.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
But when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented
from the
calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was by the
threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To
buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed
from the people.
“Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” Araunah said. “To
buy your
threshing floor,” David replied, “that I may build an altar to the LORD, so that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then the LORD answered the prayers on behalf of the land, and the plague upon Israel was
halted.
And the king
sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
And the king
swore an oath, saying, “As surely as the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life
from all distress,
And
Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they
blew the
trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil
from the tabernacle and
anointed Solomon. Then they
blew the ram’s horn, and all the people proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!”
And
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet have
anointed him king in
Gihon: and they are come up
from thence
rejoicing, so that the city
rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet have
anointed him king at
Gihon, and they have gone up
from there with
rejoicing that rings out in the city. That is the noise you hear.
So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
So King Solomon summoned Adonijah down from the altar, and he came and bowed down before King Solomon, who said to him, “Go to your home.”
But
shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of
Absalom thy brother.
But show loving devotion to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, because they stood by me when I fled
from your brother
Absalom.
And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of
Gera, a
Benjamite of Bahurim, which
cursed me with a
grievous curse in the day when I went to
Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I
sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
Keep an eye on Shimei the son of
Gera, the
Benjamite from Bahurim who is with you. He called down bitter curses against me on the day I went to
Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I
swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign:
howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his
from the LORD.
“You know that the
kingship was mine,” he said. “All Israel expected that I should reign, but the
kingship has turned to my brother, for it has come to him
from the LORD.
So Solomon thrust out
Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD; that he might fulfil the word of the LORD, which he spake concerning the house of
Eli in
Shiloh.
So Solomon banished
Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD and thus fulfilled the word that the LORD had spoken at
Shiloh against the house of
Eli.
And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which
Joab shed,
from me, and
from the house of my father.
And the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and
bury him, and so remove
from me and
from the house of my father the innocent blood that
Joab shed.
Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of
Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever
from the LORD.
Their blood will come back upon the heads of
Joab and his descendants
forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace
from the LORD
forever.”
And Shimei arose, and
saddled his
ass, and went to
Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants
from Gath.
So Shimei
saddled his
donkey and set out to Achish at
Gath in search of his slaves, and he brought them back
from Gath.
And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone
from Jerusalem to
Gath, and was come again.
When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone
from Jerusalem to
Gath and had returned,
So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son
from my side while I was
asleep. She laid him in her
bosom and put her dead son at my
bosom.
Baana the son of Ahilud; to him
pertained Taanach and
Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath
Jezreel,
from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:
Baana son of Ahilud in Taanach, in
Megiddo, and in all of Beth-shean next to Zarethan below
Jezreel,
from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah and on past Jokmeam;
And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
And Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These kingdoms offered tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.
For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
For Solomon had dominion over everything west of the Euphrates—over all the kingdoms
from Tiphsah to
Gaza—and he had peace on all sides.
And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree,
from Dan even to Beer-
sheba, all the days of Solomon.
Throughout the days of Solomon, Judah and Israel dwelt securely
from Dan to
Beersheba, each man under his own vine and his own fig tree.
And he spake of trees,
from the
cedar tree that is in
Lebanon even unto the
hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of
creeping things, and of fishes.
He spoke of trees,
from the
cedar in
Lebanon to the
hyssop growing in the wall, and he taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
So men of all nations came to
listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
My servants shall bring them down
from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt
appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt
accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
My servants will
haul the logs
from Lebanon to the Sea, and I will
float them as rafts by sea to the place you
specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”
And king Solomon raised a
levy out of all Israel; and the
levy was thirty thousand men.
Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel.
And the
porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
The
portico at the
front of the main hall of the temple was twenty cubits long, extending across the width of the temple and projecting out ten cubits in
front of the temple.
The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.
The entrance to the bottom floor was on the south side of the temple. A
stairway led up to the middle level, and
from there to the third floor.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of
cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of
fir.
He lined the interior walls with
cedar paneling from the floor of the temple to the
ceiling, and he covered the floor with
cypress boards.
And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of
cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the
oracle, even for the most holy place.
He partitioned off the twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with
cedar boards
from floor to
ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
And the main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long.
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the
oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
So Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold.
And five cubits was the one wing of the
cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the
cherub:
from the
uttermost part of the one wing unto the
uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
One wing of the first
cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing was five cubits long as well. So the full wingspan was ten cubits.
And he made a
porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the
porch was before them: and the other pillars and the thick beam were before them.
Solomon made his
colonnade fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, with a
portico in
front of it and a
canopy with pillars in
front of the
portico.
Then he made a
porch for the throne where he might judge, even the
porch of judgment: and it was covered with
cedar from one side of the floor to the other.
In addition, he built a hall for the throne, the Hall of Justice, where he was to judge. It was
paneled with
cedar from floor to
ceiling.
All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of
hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even
from the foundation unto the
coping, and so on the outside toward the great court.
All these buildings were constructed with costly stones, cut to size and
trimmed with saws inside and out
from the foundation to the
eaves, and
from the outside to the great
courtyard.
Now King Solomon sent to bring Huram from Tyre.
He was a widow’s son of the tribe of
Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and
cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.
He was the son of a widow
from the tribe of
Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a
craftsman in bronze. Huram had great skill, understanding, and knowledge for every kind of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and carried out all his work.
And he made a
molten sea, ten cubits
from the one
brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
He also made the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits
from rim to
rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference.
And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself.
Each stand had four handles, one for each corner, projecting from the stand.
And the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the
oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the
tongs of gold,
the lampstands of pure gold in
front of the inner sanctuary, five on the right side and five on the left; the gold flowers, lamps, and
tongs;
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD
from Zion, the City of David.
And they drew out the
staves, that the ends of the
staves were seen out in the holy place before the
oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
The poles extended far enough that their ends were visible from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are there to this day.
Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
‘Since the day I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there. But I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:
Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
And
hearken thou to the
supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest,
forgive.
Hear the
plea of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray toward this place. May You hear
from heaven, Your dwelling place. May You hear and
forgive.
Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants,
condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and
justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
then may You hear
from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants,
condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and
justifying the righteous man by rewarding him according to his righteousness.
Then hear thou in heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.
then may You hear
from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your people Israel. May You restore them to the land You gave to their fathers.
When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have
sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and
confess thy name, and turn
from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
When the
skies are shut and there is no rain because Your people have
sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and
confess Your name, and they turn
from their sins because You have
afflicted them,
Then hear thou in heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
then may You hear
from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, so that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk. May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.
Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
be heard by You
from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of all men—
Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;
And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—
Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their
supplication, and maintain their cause.
then may You hear
from heaven their prayer and their
plea, and may You
uphold their cause.
Then hear thou their prayer and their
supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,
then may You hear
from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and petition, and may You
uphold their cause.
For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
For they are Your people and Your inheritance; You brought them out of Egypt, out of the furnace for iron.
For thou
didst separate them
from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.
For You, O Lord GOD, as Your inheritance, have set them apart from all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke through Your servant Moses when You brought our fathers out of Egypt.”
And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and
supplication unto the LORD, he arose
from before the altar of the LORD,
from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
Now when Solomon had finished praying this entire prayer and petition to the LORD, he got up before the altar of the LORD, where he had been
kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven.
The same day did the king
hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the
brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
On that same day the king consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in
front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar before the LORD was too small to contain all these offerings.
And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation,
from the entering in of
Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.
So at that time Solomon and all Israel with him—a great assembly of people
from Lebo-
hamath to the
Brook of Egypt—kept the feast before the LORD our God for seven days and seven more days—fourteen days in all.
But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:
But if indeed you or your sons turn away from following Me and do not keep the commandments and statutes I have set before you, and if you go off to serve and worship other gods,
Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have
hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a
proverb and a
byword among all people:
then I will cut off Israel
from the land that I have given them, and I will
banish from My presence this temple I have
sanctified for My Name. Then Israel will become an object of
scorn and
ridicule among all peoples.
And
Hiram came out
from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.
So
Hiram went out
from Tyre to
inspect the towns that Solomon had given him, but he was not pleased with them.
But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build
Millo.
As soon as Pharaoh’s daughter had come up from the City of David to the palace that Solomon had built for her, he built the supporting terraces.
And they came to
Ophir, and
fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
They sailed to
Ophir and imported gold
from there—420 talents—and delivered it to Solomon.
And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing
hid from the king, which he told her not.
And Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for the king to explain.
Beside that he had of the
merchantmen, and of the
traffick of the
spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.
not including the revenue from the merchants, traders, and all the Arabian kings and governors of the land.
And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and Kue; the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.
