And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of
mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and
cried, and said unto them,
Hearken unto me, ye men of
Shechem, that God may
hearken unto you.
And the men of
Shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the
mountains, and they
robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told
Abimelech.
And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.
When Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, “Look, people are coming down from the mountains!” But Zebul replied, “The shadows of the mountains look like men to you.”
And
Abimelech gat him up to
mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and
Abimelech took an
axe in his hand, and cut down a
bough from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto the people that were with him, What ye have seen me do, make
haste, and do as I have done.
he and all his men went up to
Mount Zalmon.
Abimelech took his
axe in his hand and cut a branch from the trees, which he lifted to his shoulder, saying to his men, “
Hurry and do what you have seen me do.”
And after
Abimelech there arose to defend Israel
Tola the son of Puah, the son of
Dodo, a man of
Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in
mount Ephraim.
After the time of
Abimelech, a man of
Issachar,
Tola son of Puah, the son of
Dodo, rose up to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.
And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the
mountains, and
bewail my
virginity, I and my fellows.
She also said to her father, “Let me do this one thing: Let me
wander for two months through the
mountains with my friends and
mourn my
virginity.”
And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and
bewailed her
virginity upon the
mountains.
“Go,” he said. And he sent her away for two months. So she left with her friends and
mourned her
virginity upon the
mountains.
And Abdon the son of
Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the
mount of the
Amalekites.
Then Abdon son of
Hillel, from Pirathon, died, and he was buried at Pirathon in Ephraim, in the hill country of the
Amalekites.
And
Samson lay till
midnight, and arose at
midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before
Hebron.
But
Samson lay there only until
midnight, when he got up, took hold of the doors of the city gate and both gateposts, and pulled them out, bar and all. Then he put them on his shoulders and took them to the top of the
mountain overlooking
Hebron.
And there was a man of
mount Ephraim, whose name was
Micah.
Now a man named
Micah from the hill country of Ephraim
And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to
sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to
mount Ephraim to the house of
Micah, as he journeyed.
This man left the city of
Bethlehem in Judah to settle where he could find a place. And as he traveled, he came to
Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
And the children of
Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to
spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to
mount Ephraim, to the house of
Micah, they
lodged there.
So the Danites sent out five men from their clans, men of
valor from Zorah and Eshtaol, to
spy out the land and
explore it. “Go and
explore the land,” they told them. The men entered the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of
Micah, where they spent the night.
And they passed thence unto
mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of
Micah.
And from there they traveled to the hill country of Ephraim and came to
Micah’s house.
And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain
Levite sojourning on the side of
mount Ephraim, who took to him a
concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
Now in those days, when there was no king in Israel, a
Levite who lived in the remote hill country of Ephraim took for himself a
concubine from
Bethlehem in Judah.
And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of
mount Ephraim; and he
sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.
That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was residing in Gibeah (the men of that place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the field.
And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.
The
Levite replied, “We are traveling from
Bethlehem in Judah to the remote hill country of Ephraim, where I am from. I went to
Bethlehem in Judah, and now I am going to the house of the LORD; but no one has taken me into his home,
Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of
mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of
Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
Now there was a man named Elkanah who was from Ramathaim-zophim in the hill country of Ephraim. He was the son of Jeroham, the son of
Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.
So Saul passed through the hill country of Ephraim and then through the land of Shalishah, but did not find the
donkeys. He and the servant went through the region of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then they went through the land of Benjamin, and still they did not find them.
Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel;
whereof two thousand were with Saul in
Michmash and in
mount Bethel, and a thousand were with
Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
He chose for himself three thousand men of Israel: Two thousand were with Saul at
Michmash and in the hill country of
Bethel, and a thousand were with
Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. And the rest of the troops he sent away, each to his own home.
Likewise all the men of Israel which had
hid themselves in
mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
When all the Israelites who had been hiding in the hill country of Ephraim heard that the Philistines were
fleeing, they also joined Saul and
Jonathan in the battle.
And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.
The Philistines stood on one hill and the Israelites stood on another, with the valley between them.
And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
And David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God would not deliver David into his hand.
And Saul went on this side of the
mountain, and David and his men on that side of the
mountain: and David made
haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
Saul was proceeding along one side of the
mountain, and David and his men along the other side. Even though David was
hurrying to get away, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.
And it was so, as she
rode on the
ass, that she came down by the
covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
As
Abigail came riding her
donkey into a
mountain ravine, she saw David and his men coming down toward her, and she met them.
Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill
afar off; a great space being between them:
Then David crossed to the other side and stood
atop the
mountain at a distance; there was a wide gulf between them.
Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a
flea, as when one
doth hunt a
partridge in the
mountains.
So do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the LORD. For the king of Israel has come out to look for a
flea, like one who hunts a
partridge in the
mountains.”
Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in
mount Gilboa.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before them, and many fell slain on
Mount Gilboa.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in
mount Gilboa.
The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on
Mount Gilboa.
And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon
mount Gilboa, behold, Saul
leaned upon his
spear; and, lo, the
chariots and
horsemen followed hard after him.
“I happened to be on
Mount Gilboa,” he replied, “and there was Saul,
leaning on his
spear, with the
chariots and the cavalry closing in on him.
Ye
mountains of
Gilboa, let there be no
dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is
vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been
anointed with oil.
O
mountains of
Gilboa, may you have no
dew or rain, no fields yielding offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty was
defiled, the shield of Saul, no longer
anointed with oil.
And David went up by the
ascent of
mount Olivet, and
wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went
barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up,
weeping as they went up.
But David continued up the
Mount of Olives,
weeping as he went up. His head was covered, and he was walking
barefoot. And all the people with him covered their heads and went up,
weeping as they went.
And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:
When David came to the summit, where he used to worship God, Hushai the Archite was there to meet him with his
robe torn and dust on his head.
And they took
Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great
heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent.
They took
Absalom, cast him into a large pit in the forest, and piled a huge
mound of stones over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled, each to his home.
The matter is not so: but a man of
mount Ephraim,
Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto
Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
That is not the case. But a man named
Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him alone, and I will depart from the city.” “Look,” the woman replied, “his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
And he
rode upon a
cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:
and these were their names: Ben-hur in the hill country of Ephraim;
And Solomon had
threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and
fourscore thousand hewers in the
mountains;
Solomon had 70,000
porters and 80,000 stonecutters in the
mountains,
Then king
Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king
Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his
chariot, to
flee to Jerusalem.
Then King
Rehoboam sent out Adoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but all Israel stoned him to death. And King
Rehoboam mounted his
chariot in
haste and escaped to Jerusalem.
Then
Jeroboam built
Shechem in
mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
Then
Jeroboam built
Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. And from there he went out and built Penuel.
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto
mount Carmel, and the prophets of
Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at
Jezebel’s table.
Now
summon all Israel to meet me on
Mount Carmel, along with the four hundred and fifty prophets of
Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah who eat at
Jezebel’s table.”
So
Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto
mount Carmel.
So
Ahab summoned all the Israelites and assembled the prophets on
Mount Carmel.
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto
Horeb the
mount of God.
So he got up and
ate and
drank. And strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights until he reached
Horeb, the
mountain of God.
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the
mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the
mountains, and
brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an
earthquake; but the LORD was not in the
earthquake:
Then the LORD said, “Go out and stand on the
mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.” And a great and mighty wind
tore into the
mountains and
shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an
earthquake, but the LORD was not in the
earthquake.
And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest
peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some
mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
“Look now,” they said to
Elisha, “we your servants have fifty
valiant men. Please let them go and search for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and put him on one of the
mountains or in one of the valleys.” “Do not send them,”
Elisha replied.
And he went from thence to
mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
And
Elisha went on to
Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
So she went and came unto the man of God to
mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her
afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold,
yonder is that Shunammite:
So she set out and went to the man of God at
Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, there is the Shunammite woman.
And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is
vexed within her: and the LORD hath
hid it from me, and hath not told me.
When she reached the man of God at the
mountain, she
clung to his feet. Gehazi came over to
push her away, but the man of God said, “Leave her alone, for her soul is in deep distress, and the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me.”
And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
“Everything is all right,” Gehazi replied. “My master has sent me to say, ‘I have just now discovered that two young men from the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’”
And
Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the
mountain was full of horses and
chariots of fire round about
Elisha.
Then
Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and
chariots of fire all around
Elisha.
By the messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my
chariots I am come up to the height of the
mountains, to the sides of
Lebanon, and will cut down the tall
cedar trees thereof, and the choice
fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his
Carmel.
Through your servants you have
taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many
chariots I have ascended to the heights of the
mountains, to the remote peaks of
Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its
cypresses. I have reached its
farthest outposts, the densest of its forests.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a
remnant, and they that escape out of
mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
For a
remnant will go forth from Jerusalem, and survivors from
Mount Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the
mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for
Ashtoreth the
abomination of the Zidonians, and for
Chemosh the
abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the
abomination of the children of
Ammon, did the king
defile.
And as
Josiah turned himself, he
spied the
sepulchres that were there in the
mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the
sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and
polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
And as
Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the
hillside, and he sent someone to take the bones out of the tombs, and he burned them on the altar to
defile it, according to the word of the LORD proclaimed by the man of God who had
foretold these things.
And some of them, even of the sons of
Simeon, five hundred men, went to
mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
And five hundred of these Simeonites led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, went to
Mount Seir Now the people of the half-tribe of
Manasseh were numerous. They settled in the land from
Bashan to
Baal-
hermon (that is, Senir, also known as
Mount Hermon).
And they gave unto them, of the cities of refuge,
Shechem in
mount Ephraim with her suburbs; they gave also
Gezer with her suburbs,
They were given
Shechem (a city of refuge) with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and
Gezer,
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in
mount Gilboa.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before them, and many fell slain on
Mount Gilboa.
And it came to pass on the

The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his sons fallen on

And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and
buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the
mountains;
Some Gadites defected to David at his
stronghold in the desert. They were mighty men of
valor, trained for battle, experts with the shield and
spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions and who were as swift as gazelles on the
mountains:
And Solomon told out
threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and
fourscore thousand to
hew in the
mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
So he conscripted 70,000
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the
mountains, and 3,600 supervisors.
And he set
threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and
fourscore thousand to be hewers in the
mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
Solomon made 70,000 of them
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the
mountains, and 3,600 supervisors.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in
mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on
Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David had prepared on the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then king
Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king
Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his
chariot, to
flee to Jerusalem.
Then King
Rehoboam sent out Hadoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but the Israelites stoned him to death. And King
Rehoboam mounted his
chariot in
haste and escaped to Jerusalem.
And
Abijah stood up upon
mount Zemaraim, which is in
mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou
Jeroboam, and all Israel;
Then
Abijah stood on
Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O
Jeroboam and all Israel!
And when
Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of
Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the
abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from
mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the
porch of the LORD.
When
Asa heard these words and the prophecy of
Azariah son of
Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the
detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the
portico of the LORD’s temple.
Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the
mountains, as sheep that have no
shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a
shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
And
Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beer-
sheba to
mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.
Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and once again he went out among the people from
Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and turned them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And now, behold, the children of
Ammon and Moab and
mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel
invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;
And now, here are the men of
Ammon, Moab, and
Mount Seir, whom You did not let Israel
invade when they came out of the land of Egypt; but Israel turned away from them and did not destroy them.
And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of
Ammon, Moab, and
mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were
smitten.
The moment they began their shouts and praises, the LORD set ambushes against the men of
Ammon, Moab, and
Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were defeated.
For the children of
Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of
mount Seir, utterly to
slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of
Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
The
Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the inhabitants of
Mount Seir,
devoting them to destruction. And when they had made an end to the inhabitants of
Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
Moreover he made high places in the
mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit
fornication, and compelled Judah
thereto.
Jehoram had also built high places on the hills of Judah; he had caused the people of Jerusalem to
prostitute themselves and had led Judah
astray.
Also he built towers in the desert, and
digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains:
husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the
mountains, and in
Carmel: for he loved
husbandry.
Since he had much
livestock in the foothills and in the plain, he built towers in the desert and
dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill country and in the fertile fields.
Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.
And he took away the strange gods, and the
idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the
mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
He removed the foreign gods and the
idol from the house of the LORD, along with all the altars he had built on the temple
mount and in Jerusalem, and he
dumped them outside the city.
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they
fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the
rubbish which are burned?
before his associates and the army of Samaria, saying, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Can they restore the wall by themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the
mounds of
rubble?”
And that they should
publish and
proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the
mount, and
fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and
myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
So they proclaimed this message and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive,
myrtle, palm, and other
leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”
Thou camest down also upon
mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
You came down on
Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven. You gave them just ordinances, true laws, and good statutes and commandments.
And he wrote in the king
Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on
horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young
dromedaries:
Mordecai wrote in the name of King
Xerxes and sealed it with the royal
signet ring. He sent the documents by
mounted couriers riding on swift horses
bred from the royal mares.
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
He moves mountains without their knowledge and overturns them in His anger.
And surely the
mountain falling cometh to
nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
But as a
mountain erodes and crumbles and a rock is
dislodged from its place,
Though his
excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
Though his
arrogance reaches the heavens, and his head touches the clouds,
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
Drenched by
mountain rains, they
huddle against the rocks for want of shelter.
He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
The miner strikes the flint; he overturns mountains at their base.
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do
calve?
“Do you know when
mountain goats give birth? Have you watched the
doe bear her
fawn?
The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
He roams the mountains for pasture, searching for any green thing.
Doth the eagle
mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
Does the eagle
soar at your command and make his nest on high?
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
The hills yield him their produce, while all the beasts of the field play nearby.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of
Zion.
I
cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.
Selah.
To the LORD I cry
aloud, and He answers me from His holy
mountain.
Selah In the LORD put I my trust: How say ye to my soul,
Flee as a bird to your
mountain?
In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “
Flee like a bird to your
mountain!
LORD, who shall
abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
O LORD, who may
abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy
mountain?
Then the earth
shook and
quaked, and the foundations of the
mountains trembled; they were
shaken because He burned with anger.
And he
rode upon a
cherub, and did fly:
yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my
mountain to stand strong: thou
didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
O LORD, You favored me; You made my
mountain stand strong. When You
hid Your face, I was dismayed.
Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
O my God, my soul despairs within me. Therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and the peaks of
Hermon— even from
Mount Mizar.
O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, and to the place where You dwell.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth is transformed and the
mountains are
toppled into the depths of the seas,
Though the waters thereof
roar and be troubled, though the
mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
Selah.
