And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the
firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the
night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And God said, “Let there be lights in the
expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the
night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
For seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty
nights, and I will
wipe from the face of the earth every living thing I have made.”
And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
While the earth remaineth,
seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and
night shall not cease.
As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and
night shall never cease.”
And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by
night, and
smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
During the
night,
Abram divided his forces and routed
Chedorlaomer’s army, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and
tarry all
night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said,
Nay; but we will
abide in the street all
night.
and said, “My lords, please turn aside into the house of your servant; wash your feet and
spend the
night. Then you can rise early and go on your way.” “No,” they answered, “we will
spend the
night in the square.”
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
They called out to Lot, saying, “Where are the men who came to you
tonight? Send them out to us so we can have relations with them!”
And they made their father drink wine that
night: and the
firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
So that
night they got their father
drunk with wine, and the
firstborn went in and
slept with her father; he was not aware when she lay down or when she got up.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that the
firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay
yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this
night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Look, I
slept with my father last
night. Let us get him
drunk with wine again
tonight so you can go in and sleep with him and we can preserve our father’s line.”
And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
So again that
night they got their father
drunk with wine, and the younger daughter went in and
slept with him; he was not aware when she lay down or when she got up.
But God came to
Abimelech in a dream by
night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
One
night, however, God came to
Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is a married woman.”
And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father’s house for us to
lodge in?
“Whose daughter are you?” he asked. “Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to
spend the
night?”
She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and
provender enough, and room to
lodge in.
Then she added, “We have
plenty of straw and feed, as well as a place for you to
spend the
night.”
And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and
tarried all
night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.
Then he and the men with him
ate and
drank and spent the
night there. When they got up the next morning, he said, “Send me on my way to my master.”
And the LORD appeared unto him the same
night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will
bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.
and that
night the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will
bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.”
And he lighted upon a certain place, and
tarried there all
night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his
pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
On reaching a certain place, he spent the night there because the sun had set. And taking one of the stones from that place, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.
And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And
Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to
night for thy son’s mandrakes.
But Leah replied, “Is it not enough that you have taken away my husband? Now you want to take my son’s mandrakes as well?” “Very well,” said
Rachel, “he may sleep with you
tonight in exchange for your son’s mandrakes.”
And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have
hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that
night.
When Jacob came in from the field that evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, “You must come with me, for I have
hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he
slept with her that
night.
And God came to
Laban the
Syrian in a dream by
night, and said unto him, Take
heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
But that
night God came to
Laban the
Aramean in a dream and
warned him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”
It is in the power of my hand to do you
hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me
yesternight, saying, Take thou
heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
I have power to do you great
harm, but last
night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’
That which was
torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand
didst thou require it, whether
stolen by day, or
stolen by
night.
I did not bring you anything
torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for what was
stolen by day or
night.
Thus I was; in the day the
drought consumed me, and the
frost by
night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.
As it was, the heat consumed me by day and the
frost by
night, and sleep fled from my eyes.
Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine
affliction and the labour of my hands, and
rebuked thee
yesternight.
If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely by now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my
affliction and the
toil of my hands, and last
night He rendered judgment.”
Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and
tarried all
night in the mount.
Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. And after they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain.
And he
lodged there that same
night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for
Esau his brother;
Jacob spent the
night there, and from what he had brought with him, he selected a gift for his brother
Esau:
So went the present over before him: and himself
lodged that
night in the company.
So Jacob’s gifts went on before him, while he spent the night in the camp.
And he rose up that
night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the
ford Jabbok.
During the
night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants, and his eleven sons, and crossed the
ford of the
Jabbok.
And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one
night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the
butler and the
baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
both of these men—the Egyptian king’s
cupbearer and
baker, who were being held in the prison—had a dream on the same
night, and each dream had its own meaning.
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
One
night both the chief
baker and I had dreams, and each dream had its own meaning.
And as one of them opened his
sack to give his
ass provender in the inn, he
espied his money; for, behold, it was in his
sack’s mouth.
At the place where they
lodged for the
night, one of them opened his
sack to get feed for his
donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of the
sack.
And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his
sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
But when we came to the place we
lodged for the
night, we opened our sacks and, behold, each of us found his silver in the mouth of his
sack! It was the full amount of our silver, and we have brought it back with us.
And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
And that night God spoke to Israel in a vision: “Jacob, Jacob!” He said. “Here I am,” replied Jacob.
And the time drew
nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my
thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me;
bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my
thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not
bury me in Egypt,
Benjamin shall
ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall
devour the prey, and at
night he shall divide the
spoil.
Benjamin is a
ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the
plunder.”
And he said, Draw not
nigh hither: put off thy
shoes from off thy feet, for the place
whereon thou standest is holy ground.
“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and throughout that day and night the LORD sent an east wind across the land. By morning the east wind had brought the locusts.
And they shall eat the flesh in that
night,
roast with fire, and
unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
They are to eat the meat that
night,
roasted over the fire, along with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this
night, and will
smite all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will
execute judgment: I am the LORD.
On that
night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every
firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will
execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
During the
night Pharaoh got up—he and all his officials and all the Egyptians—and there was loud
wailing in Egypt; for there was no house without someone dead.
And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Get up, leave my people, both you and the Israelites! Go, worship the LORD as you have requested.
It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
Because the LORD kept a
vigil that
night to bring them out of the land of Egypt, this same
night is to be a
vigil to the LORD, to be observed by all the Israelites for the generations to come.
And the LORD went before them by day in a
pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by
night in a
pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and
night:
And the LORD went before them in a
pillar of cloud to guide their way by day, and in a
pillar of fire to give them light by
night, so that they could travel by day or
night.
He took not away the
pillar of the cloud by day, nor the
pillar of fire by
night, from before the people.
Neither the
pillar of cloud by day nor the
pillar of fire by
night left its place before the people.
And when Pharaoh drew
nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were
sore afraid: and the children of Israel
cried out unto the LORD.
As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw the Egyptians marching after them, and they were
terrified and
cried out to the LORD.
And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
so that it came between the camps of Egypt and Israel. The cloud was there in the darkness, but it
lit up the
night. So all
night long neither camp went near the other.
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove back the sea with a strong east wind that turned it into dry land. So the waters were divided,
And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”
And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and
gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty
nights.
Moses entered the cloud as he went up on the mountain, and he remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came
nigh unto the camp, that he saw the
calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and
brake them beneath the mount.
As Moses approached the camp and saw the
calf and the dancing, he burned with anger and threw the tablets out of his hands,
shattering them at the base of the mountain.
And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
So Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face
shone; and they were afraid to come
nigh him.
Aaron and all the Israelites looked at Moses, and behold, his face was
radiant. And they were afraid to approach him.
And afterward all the children of Israel came
nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount
Sinai.
And after this all the Israelites came near, and Moses commanded them to do everything that the LORD had told him on Mount
Sinai.
For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel through all their journeys.
Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.
“Command Aaron and his sons that this is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the
hearth of the altar all
night, until morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.
This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is
anointed; the tenth part of an
ephah of fine flour for a meat offering perpetual, half of it in the morning, and half thereof at
night.
“This is the offering that Aaron and his sons must present to the LORD on the day he is
anointed: a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening.
Therefore shall ye
abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and
night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.
You must remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and keep the LORD’s charge so that you will not die, for this is what I have been commanded.”
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be
sanctified in them that come
nigh me, and before all the people I will be
glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD meant when He said: ‘To those who come near Me I will show My
holiness, and in the sight of all the people I will
reveal My glory.’” But Aaron remained silent.
And the
owl, and the
night hawk, and the cuckow, and the
hawk after his kind,
Thou shalt not
defraud thy neighbour, neither
rob him: the wages of him that is
hired shall not
abide with thee all
night until the morning.
And for his sister a virgin, that is
nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be
defiled.
or his unmarried sister who is near to him, since she has no husband.
No man that hath a
blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come
nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a
blemish; he shall not come
nigh to offer the bread of his God.
No
descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to present the offerings made by fire to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he is not to come near to offer the food of his God.
but because he has a defect, he must not go near the
veil or approach the altar, so as not to
desecrate My
sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’”
Either his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may
redeem him, or any that is
nigh of
kin unto him of his family may
redeem him; or if he be able, he may
redeem himself.
either his uncle or cousin or any close relative from his clan may
redeem him. Or if he prospers, he may
redeem himself.
And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
And thou shalt
appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
So you shall
appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out the duties of the priesthood; but any outsider who approaches the tabernacle must be put to death.”
But those that
encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
Moses, Aaron, and Aaron’s sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the
sunrise, before the Tent of Meeting. They were to perform the duties of the sanctuary as a service on behalf of the Israelites; but any outsider who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an
atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come
nigh unto the sanctuary.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting and to make
atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
So it was
alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by
night.
It remained that way continually; the cloud would cover the tabernacle by day, and at night it would appear like fire.
And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
Sometimes the cloud remained only from evening until morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they would set out. Whether it was by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up, they would set out.
And when the
dew fell upon the camp in the
night, the
manna fell upon it.
When the
dew fell on the camp at
night, the
manna would fall with it.
And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
All that day and
night, and all the next day, the people stayed up gathering the
quail. No one gathered less than ten homers, and they spread them out all around the camp.
And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and
cried; and the people
wept that
night.
Then the whole congregation lifted up their voices and
cried out, and that
night the people
wept.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by
night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by
night.
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
And they shall attend to your duties and to all the duties of the Tent; but they must not come near to the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar, or both they and you will die.
And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
They are to join you and attend to the duties of the Tent of Meeting, doing all the work at the Tent; but no outsider may come near you.
Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar, and within the
vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
But only you and your sons shall attend to your priesthood for everything concerning the altar and what is inside the
veil, and you are to perform that service. I am giving you the work of the priesthood as a gift, but any outsider who comes near the sanctuary must be put to death.”
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
No longer may the Israelites come near to the Tent of Meeting, or they will
incur guilt and die.
And he said unto them,
Lodge here this
night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with
Balaam.
“
Spend the
night here,”
Balaam replied, “and I will give you the answer that the LORD speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with
Balaam.
Now therefore, I pray you,
tarry ye also here this
night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
So now, please stay here overnight as the others did, that I may find out what else the LORD has to tell me.”
And God came unto
Balaam at
night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
That
night God came to
Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to
summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not
nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall
smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of
Sheth.
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come forth from Jacob, and a
scepter will arise from Israel. He will
crush the skulls of Moab and strike down all the sons of
Sheth.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the
Amorites, and unto all the places
nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the
vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the
Canaanites, and unto
Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the
Amorites; go to all the
neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the foothills, in the Negev, and along the
seacoast to the land of the
Canaanites and to
Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by
night, to
shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
And when thou comest
nigh over against the children of
Ammon, distress them not, nor
meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of
Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
But when you get close to the
Ammonites, do not
harass them or
provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the
Ammonites. I have given it to the descendants of Lot as their possession.”
For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
For what nation is great enough to have a god as near to them as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call on Him?
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty
nights. I
ate no bread and
drank no water.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
And at the end of forty days and forty nights, the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty
nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty
nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
So I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, because the LORD had said He would destroy you.
And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty
nights; and the LORD
hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty
nights, like the first time, and that time the LORD again
listened to me and agreed not to destroy you.
Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
the gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, whether from one end of the earth or the other),

Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by

Observe the month of
Abib and

Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by
night.
And there shall be no
leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all
night until the morning.
No
leaven is to be found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,
When you are about to go into battle, the priest is to come forward and address the army,
When thou comest
nigh unto a city to fight against it, then
proclaim peace unto it.
When you approach a city to fight against it, you are to make an offer of peace.
His body shall not remain all
night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is
accursed of God;) that thy land be not
defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to
bury him that day, because
anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s
curse. You must not
defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
