Baal-
zebub the god of
Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

So
Elisha said to Gehazi, “
Tie up your garment, take my staff in your hand, and go! If you
meet anyone, do not
greet him, and if
anyone greets you, do not answer him. Then lay my staff on the boy’s face.”

meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not

meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And
Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the
watchman told, saying, The
messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
So a
horseman rode off to

thereon, and
rebuke it.

That
Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us
meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to
slay thee;
yea, in the night will they come to
slay thee.
Later, I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was confined to his house. He said: “Let us meet at the house of God inside the temple. Let us shut the temple doors because they are coming to kill you— by night they are coming to kill you!”

meet to be said unto God, I have borne
chastisement, I will not
offend any more:
Suppose someone says to God, ‘I have
endured my punishment; I will
offend no more.
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
He paws in the valley and rejoices in his strength; he charges into battle.
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
My God of loving devotion will come to
meet me; God will let me
stare down my foes.
Thine enemies
roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.
Your foes have
roared within Your
meeting place; they have
unfurled their banners as signs,
Therefore came I forth to
meet thee,
diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
So I came out to meet you; I sought you, and I have found you.
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.
Let a bear
robbed of her whelps
meet a man, rather than a
fool in his folly.
It is better to
meet a bear
robbed of her cubs than a
fool in his folly.
The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
The rich and the poor have this in common: The LORD is Maker of them all.
Wisdom is too high for a
fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
Wisdom is too high for a
fool; he does not open his mouth in the
meeting place.
The poor and the
deceitful man
meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
The poor man and the
oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an
abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of
assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn
meeting.
Bring your worthless offerings no more; your incense is
detestable to Me— your New Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot
endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to
meet Ahaz, thou, and
Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the
conduit of the upper
pool in the
highway of the fuller’s field;
Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out with your son
Shear-jashub to
meet Ahaz at the end of the
aqueduct that feeds the upper
pool, on the road to the
Launderer’s Field,
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to
meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Sheol beneath is eager to
meet you upon your arrival. It stirs the spirits of the dead to
greet you— all the rulers of the earth. It makes all the kings of the nations rise from their thrones.
The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was
thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
Bring water for the
thirsty, O dwellers of Tema;
meet the refugees with food.
The wild beasts of the desert shall also
meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the
satyr shall cry to his fellow; the
screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
The desert creatures will
meet with
hyenas, and one wild goat will call to another. There the night creature will settle and find her place of
repose.
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered,
yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take
vengeance, and I will not
meet thee as a man.
Your nakedness will be uncovered and your shame will be exposed. I will take
vengeance; I will
spare no one.”
Thou
meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art
wroth; for we have
sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
You
welcome those who
gladly do right, who remember Your ways. Surely You were
angry, for we
sinned. How can we be saved if we remain in our sins?
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that
prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about the prophets who
prophesy in My name: I did not send them, yet they say, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ By sword and famine these very prophets will
meet their end!
As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.
As for me, here I am in your hands; do to me what you think is good and right.
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
By My great power and outstretched arm, I made the earth and the men and beasts on the face of it, and I give it to whom I please.
And
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from
Mizpah to
meet them,
weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam.
And I will take the
remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach.
And I will take away the
remnant of Judah who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to reside there; they will
meet their end. They will all fall by the sword or be consumed by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or famine; and they will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and reproach.
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching over them for
harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will
meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.
One post shall run to
meet another, and one
messenger to
meet another, to
shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,
And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden
booth; He has destroyed His place of
meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
No, it is cast into the fire for fuel. The fire devours both ends, and the middle is
charred. Can it be useful for anything?
Behold, when it was whole, it was
meet for no work: how much less shall it be
meet yet for any work, when the fire hath
devoured it, and it is burned?
Even when it was whole, it could not be made useful. How much less can it ever be useful when the fire has consumed it and
charred it!
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain, but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
I will
meet them as a bear that is
bereaved of her whelps, and will
rend the
caul of their heart, and there will I
devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall
tear them.
Like a bear
robbed of her cubs I will attack them, and I will
tear open their chests. There I will
devour them like a lion, like a wild beast would
tear them apart.
Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
“Therefore, that is what I will do to you, O Israel, and since I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!

Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him
And, behold, the whole city came out to
meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they
besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Then the whole town went out to
meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they
begged Him to leave their region.
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and
toss it to the dogs.”
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be
likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to
meet the
bridegroom.
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to
meet the
bridegroom.
And at
midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the
bridegroom cometh; go ye out to
meet him.
But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
“First let the children have their fill,” He said. “For it is not right to take the children’s bread and
toss it to the dogs.”
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
So He sent two of His disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a
jug of water will
meet you. Follow him,
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can
engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
It was
meet that we should make
merry, and be
glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
But it was fitting to
celebrate and be
glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”
And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
He answered, “When you enter the city, a man carrying a
jug of water will
meet you. Follow him to the house he enters,
Then
Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
So when
Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to
meet Him; but Mary stayed at home.
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to
meet him, and
cried,
Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
They took palm branches and went out to
meet Him,
shouting: “
Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the King of Israel!”
For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this
miracle.
That is also why the crowd went out to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
And they, continuing daily with one
accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart,
With one
accord they continued to
meet daily in the temple courts and to break bread from house to house, sharing their meals with
gladness and

And when they had prayed, the place was
shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
After they had prayed, their

Then Paul stood in the midst of
Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too

Then Paul stood up in the

repent and turn to God, performing deeds worthy of their
repentance.

thanks to God.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his
lodging; to whom he
expounded and
testified the kingdom of God,
persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
So they set a day to
meet with Paul, and many people came to the place he was staying. He
expounded to them from morning to evening,
testifying about the kingdom of God and
persuading them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets.
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their
lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was

Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with

indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
