So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:
So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a lethech of barley.
And I said unto
her, Thou shalt
abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the
harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.
Then I said to
her, “You must live with me for many days; you must not be
promiscuous or belong to another, and I will do the same for you.”
Their drink is
sour: they have committed
whoredom continually:
her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
The wind hath bound
her up in
her wings, and they shall be
ashamed because of their sacrifices.
The
whirlwind has
wrapped them in its wings, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.
They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
They go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, but they do not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them.
Strangers have
devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not:
yea, gray hairs are
here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
Foreigners
consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is
streaked with gray, but he does not know.
The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
The
threshing floor and winepress will not feed them, and the new wine will fail them.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at
her first time: but they went to
Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruits of the fig tree in its first season. But they went to
Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves to Shame; so they became as
detestable as the thing they loved.
As for Samaria,
her king is cut off as the
foam upon the water.
Samaria will be carried off with
her king like a
twig on the surface of the water.
And Ephraim is as an
heifer that is taught, and loveth to
tread out the corn; but I passed over upon
her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to
ride; Judah shall
plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
Ephraim is a well-trained
heifer that loves to
thresh; but I will place a yoke on
her fair neck. I will
harness Ephraim, Judah will
plow, and Jacob will break the hard ground.
Therefore shall a
tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be
spoiled, as Shalman
spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was
dashed in pieces upon
her children.
the
roar of battle will rise against your people, so that all your fortresses will be
demolished as Shalman
devastated Beth-arbel in the day of battle, when mothers were
dashed to pieces along with their children.
I will meet them as a bear that is
bereaved of
her whelps, and will
rend the
caul of their heart, and there will I
devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall
tear them.
Like a bear
robbed of
her cubs I will attack them, and I will
tear open their chests. There I will
devour them like a lion, like a wild beast would
tear them apart.
Samaria shall become
desolate; for she hath rebelled against
her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be
dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be
ripped up.
Samaria will bear
her guilt because she has rebelled against
her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be
dashed to pieces, and their
pregnant women
ripped open.
How do the beasts
groan! the
herds of cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the flocks of sheep are made
desolate.
How the cattle
groan! The
herds wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
Do not be afraid, O beasts of the field, for the open pastures have turned green, the trees bear their fruit, and the fig tree and vine yield their best.
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will
plead with them there for my people and for my
heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of
Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land.
So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in
Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through
her any more.
Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who dwells in
Zion, My holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, never again to be overrun by foreigners.
The words of
Amos, who was among the
herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of
Jeroboam the son of
Joash king of Israel, two years before the
earthquake.
These are the words of
Amos, who was among the sheepherders of Tekoa—what he saw concerning Israel two years before the
earthquake, in the days when Uzziah was king of Judah and
Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel.
Publish in the palaces at
Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say,
Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the
oppressed in the midst thereof.
Proclaim to the citadels of
Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “
Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in
her midst.”
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
You will go out through broken walls, each one straight
ahead of
her, and you will be cast out toward Harmon,” declares the LORD.
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is
forsaken upon
her land; there is none to raise
her up.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
Then answered
Amos, and said to
Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an
herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
“I was not a prophet,”
Amos replied, “nor was I the son of a prophet; rather, I was a
herdsman and a tender of
sycamore-fig trees.
The vision of
Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning
Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against
her in battle.
This is the vision of
Obadiah: This is what the Lord GOD says about
Edom— We have heard a message from the LORD; an
envoy has been sent among the nations to say, “Rise up, and let us go to battle against
her!”—
So they took up
Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from
her raging.
At this, they
picked up
Jonah and cast him into the sea, and the
raging sea grew calm.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
To the roots of the mountains I descended; the earth beneath me
barred me in
forever! But You raised my life from the pit, O LORD my God!
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through
Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Then he issued a
proclamation in
Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let no man or beast,
herd or flock, taste anything at all. They must not eat or drink.
Therefore I will make Samaria as an
heap of the field, and as plantings of a
vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
Therefore I will make Samaria a
heap of
rubble in the open field, a planting area for a
vineyard. I will pour
her stones into the valley and
expose her foundations.
And all the
graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the
hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay
desolate: for she gathered it of the
hire of an
harlot, and they shall return to the
hire of an
harlot.
All
her carved images will be
smashed to pieces; all
her wages will be burned in the fire, and I will destroy all
her idols. Since she collected the wages of a
prostitute, they will be used again on a
prostitute.
For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
For her wound is incurable; it has reached even Judah; it has approached the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem itself.
And they
covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they
oppress a man and his house, even a man and his
heritage.
They
covet fields and seize them; they take away houses. They deprive a man of his home, a fellow man of his inheritance.
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for
hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they
lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.
Her leaders judge for a
bribe,
her priests teach for a price, and
her prophets practice
divination for money. Yet they
lean upon the LORD, saying, “Is not the LORD among us? No
disaster can come upon us.”
In that day, saith the LORD, will I
assemble her that halteth, and I will gather
her that is driven out, and
her that I have
afflicted;
“On that day,” declares the LORD, “I will gather the
lame; I will
assemble the outcast, even those whom I have
afflicted.
And I will make
her that
halted a
remnant, and
her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let
her be
defiled, and let our eye look upon
Zion.
But now many nations have assembled against you, saying, “Let
her be
defiled, and let us feast our eyes on
Zion.”
Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from
her that lieth in thy
bosom.
Do not
rely on a friend; do not trust in a companion. Seal the doors of your mouth from
her who lies in your arms.
For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own household.
Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover
her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold
her: now shall she be
trodden down as the
mire of the streets.
Then my enemy will see and will be covered with shame— she who said to me, “Where is the LORD your God?” My eyes will see
her; at that time she will be
trampled like mud in the streets.
Shepherd with Your staff Your people, the flock of Your inheritance. They live alone in a
woodland, surrounded by pastures. Let them
graze in
Bashan and
Gilead, as in the days of old.
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the
transgression of the
remnant of his
heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes over the
transgression of the
remnant of His inheritance— who does not retain His anger
forever, because He delights in loving devotion?
And Huzzab shall be led away
captive, she shall be brought up, and
her maids shall lead
her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
It is decreed that the city be exiled and carried away;
her maidservants
moan like doves, and beat upon their breasts.
But
Nineveh is of old like a
pool of water: yet they shall
flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
Nineveh has been like a
pool of water throughout
her days, but now it is
draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn
her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall
devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will send your
chariots up in smoke, and the sword will
devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured
harlot, the
mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through
her whoredoms, and families through
her witchcrafts.
And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall
flee from thee, and say,
Nineveh is laid waste: who will
bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
Art thou better than
populous No, that was
situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose
rampart was the sea, and
her wall was from the sea?
Are you better than
Thebes, stationed by the Nile with water around
her, whose
rampart was the sea, whose wall was the water?
Ethiopia and Egypt were
her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
Cush and Egypt were
her boundless strength; Put and
Libya were
her allies.
Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity:
her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for
her honourable men, and all
her great men were bound in chains.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity.
Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for
her dignitaries, and all
her nobles were bound in chains.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Then the LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly
inscribe it on tablets, so that a
herald may run with it.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
And flocks shall lie down in the midst of
her, all the beasts of the nations: both the
cormorant and the
bittern shall
lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows;
desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the
cedar work.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in
her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by
her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to
herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by
her hisses and shakes his
fist.
She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
She
heeded no voice; she accepted no correction. She does not trust in the LORD; she has not drawn near to
her God.
Her princes are
roaring lions;
her judges are evening
wolves, leaving nothing for the morning.
Her prophets are light and
treacherous persons:
her priests have
polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
Her prophets are
reckless, faithless men.
Her priests
profane the sanctuary; they do violence to the law.
The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning
doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
The LORD within
her is righteous; He does no wrong. He applies His justice morning by morning; He does not fail at
dawn, yet the unjust know no shame.
I said, Surely thou
wilt fear me, thou
wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off,
howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
I said, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction.’ Then
her dwelling place would not be cut off
despite all for which I punished
her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
Behold, at that time I will
undo all that
afflict thee: and I will save
her that halteth, and gather
her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who
afflict you. I will save the
lame and gather the scattered; and I will
appoint praise and fame for the disgraced throughout the earth.
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from
dew, and the earth is stayed from
her fruit.
Therefore, on account of you the heavens have
withheld their
dew and the earth has
withheld its crops.
Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou
wilt walk in my ways, and if thou
wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘If you walk in My ways and keep My instructions, then you will
govern My house and will also have charge of My courts; and I will give you a place among these who are standing
here.
And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the
ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
“This is Wickedness,” he said. And he
shoved her down into the
basket,
pushing down the lead cover over its opening.
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of
Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon
her own base.
“To build a house for it in the land of
Shinar,” he told me. “And when it is ready, the
basket will be set there on its
pedestal.”
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath
cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about
her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?
Are these not the words that the LORD proclaimed through the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were
populous and prosperous, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was
jealous for
Zion with great jealousy, and I was
jealous for
her with great
fury.
For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give
her fruit, and the ground shall give
her increase, and the heavens shall give their
dew; and I will cause the
remnant of this people to possess all these things.
“For the seed will be prosperous, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will yield its produce, and the
skies will give their
dew. To the
remnant of this people I will give all these things as an inheritance.
And Tyrus did build
herself a strong hold, and
heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the
mire of the streets.
Tyre has built
herself a fortress; she has
heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the
dirt of the streets.
Behold, the Lord will cast
her out, and he will
smite her power in the sea; and she shall be
devoured with fire.
Behold, the Lord will
impoverish her and cast
her wealth into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
Ashkelon shall see it, and fear;
Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and
Ekron; for
her expectation shall be
ashamed; and the king shall perish from
Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
Ashkelon will see and fear;
Gaza will
writhe in
agony, as will
Ekron, for
her hope will wither. There will cease to be a king in
Gaza, and Ashkelon will be uninhabited.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a
burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
On that day, when all the nations of the earth gather against
her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who would
heave it away will be severely injured.
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an
hearth of fire among the wood, and like a
torch of fire in a
sheaf; and they shall
devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in
her own place, even in Jerusalem.
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a
firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming
torch among the
sheaves; they will
consume all the peoples around them on the right and on the left, while the people of Jerusalem remain secure there.
All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in
her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses.
All the land from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem will be turned into a plain, but Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain in
her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.
but
Esau I have
hated, and I have made his mountains a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.”
Bring ye all the
tithes into the
storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Bring the full
tithe into the
storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure.
And I will
rebuke the
devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast
her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will
rebuke the
devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your land, and the vine in your field will not fail to produce fruit,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And
Jesse begat David the king; and David the king
begat Solomon of
her that had been the wife of Urias;
and
Jesse the father of David the king. Next: David was the father of Solomon by Uriah’s wife,
Then Joseph
her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make
her a publick example, was minded to put
her away
privily.
Because Joseph
her husband was a righteous man and was unwilling to disgrace
her publicly, he resolved to
divorce her quietly.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
But after he had
pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in
her is from the Holy Spirit.
And knew
her not till she had brought forth
her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
Now when Jesus was born in
Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of
Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
After Jesus was born in
Bethlehem in
Judea, during the time of King
Herod,
Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
Then
Herod, when he had
privily called the wise men, enquired of them
diligently what time the star appeared.
Then
Herod called the
Magi secretly and learned from them the exact time the star had appeared.
And being
warned of God in a dream that they should not return to
Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
And having been
warned in a dream not to return to
Herod, they withdrew to their country by another route.
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and
flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for
Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
When the
Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and
flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for
Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
where he stayed until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Then
Herod, when he saw that he was
mocked of the wise men, was exceeding
wroth, and sent forth, and
slew all the children that were in
Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had
diligently enquired of the wise men.
When
Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the
Magi, he was filled with
rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in
Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the
Magi.
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.
But when he heard that
Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father
Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being
warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of
Galilee:
But when he learned that
Archelaus was reigning in
Judea in place of his father
Herod, he was afraid to go there. And having been
warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of
Galilee,
But I say unto you, That
whosoever looketh on a woman to
lust after
her hath committed
adultery with
her already in his heart.
But I tell you that
anyone who looks at a woman to
lust after
her has already committed
adultery with
her in his heart.
But I tell you that
anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, brings
adultery upon
her. And he who marries a
divorced woman commits
adultery.
Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to
morrow is cast into the
oven, shall he not much more
clothe you, O ye of little faith?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is
here today and
tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith?
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
So He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve Him.
And, behold, they
cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come
hither to
torment us before the time?
“What do You want with us, Son of God?” they
shouted. “Have You come
here to
torture us before the appointed time?”
